So we don't scare the viroids on the antenatal thread with horror stories of no sleep, chomped boobs and endless laundry or make them envious with tales of cuteness....

No co-sleeping here. However I have worked out a system where I park DD on the feeding pillow/boob while I'm sat propped up in bed, then when she's comfy I wiggle dow in to a serious recline position and let her get on with it while I doze off. It's kind of my compromise to not co-sleeping as I know I can't squash her/ lose her over the side and when she's done she's comfy enough for me to carry her back next door to the cot. I still get a bit of a fright when I wake up and realise she's been there for an hour or more though!

cowboylover · 13/11/2011 00:16

CC I did the same! Shock

DD here is not doing great on the sleeping at the moment as it takes a few hours to settle her usually around 2am then she wakes up every 2 hours so really looking forward to this 'passing'

vallinnapod · 13/11/2011 07:50

Feel your pain Cowboy Sad That said, we only fed twice last night! Feel fab for it. DH is back today though (has been away with work since Thurs) so back to 3 in a bed! DS is currently taking up at least two thirds of the bed with me perched on the end!

Still no sex here, got waxed yesterday and (rather cheekily) picked up free condoms for the doctors. No excuse now....although not used a condom in about 10 years....

CuriosityCola · 13/11/2011 08:31

I'm going to book my appointment to get the implant ASAP.

Hope everyone got a good sleep. Ds has been awake since 5am. He has now done two poosplosions and is ready to sleep. It's a hard wee life Grin

CuriosityCola · 13/11/2011 21:15

Oh, I meant to say Frak. The friend I mentioned below is the same one I mentioned in the formula preparation thread.

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2011 08:11

Morning, did anyone get a decent sleep?

Eskarina · 14/11/2011 08:42

Morning! We haven't had a repeat of Thursday night's shenanigans do I suppose that's a positive.

Have a day filled with washing to look forward to though, which is hardly inspiring me to get on with things.

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2011 11:10

That sounds promising esk. I have a friend visiting so have stocked up on yummy cakes and biscuits. She is 32 weeks pregnant so excited to see her with a bump Grin

vallinnapod · 14/11/2011 13:28

Not too bad here thanks CC - had a 'you' moment yesterday though. DH arrives back from work trip moaning about tiredness then sleeps for most of Sunday arvo.... Angry doesn't begin to cover it. So I got into bed at 9pm having just fed DS and left him to it. Think I got decent-ish sleep as a result. DS woke twice for food but went back into his crib both times. Rocking him in it when he grissled sent him back to sleep - although a little tiring for me!

Today is starting a routine day here! So far so good. Took him out for a walk at 11:30 to get him off for a morning nap and he has been asleep since then Grin I was going to then take him out again at 3pm for an afternoon nap but considering he is yet to wake up I may have to reconsider that....

Eskarina · 14/11/2011 16:47

Ooh am Envy of your DS and his naps Val. Dd remained awake from 9.30 til almost 4.00 resisting a 2 hr walk in buggy, feeding, a ride in the sling and everything else I could think of. She's asleep on me now, has been for 40 mins. My back and neck are beyond painful, but I know if I put her down she'll wake straight up.
Struggling to get dd back into her crib after night feeds too.

vallinnapod · 14/11/2011 17:19

If it's any consolation it went downhill Grin

DS napped on my chest for 40 mins this arvo but I had to move him as needed a wee Grin Been equal measures of gorgeousness and grump the rest of the arvo but not sleepy...

Any ideas what to get an 18 month old girl for christmas?

Eskarina · 14/11/2011 18:33

Dd had about 90 mins nap on me til I caved in and moved. That's not enough for a day surely? Will see how bedtime goes. Have had some success with doing pick up/put down for night time sleep training. What used to take well over an hour of rocking, shushing, feeding to sleep, and that on our bed has become about 20 mins to get her to sleep by herself in her crib. Shame it doesn't work for daytime naps.
DH is out tonight so I can guarantee it will all go wrong.

How much do you want to spend on 18 month old? It's the right age for getting into imaginative play so how about a doll, tea set, cooking set, buggy or the like? Dressing up clothes can become popular around 2ish too. Otherwise bath toys are always a good back-up plan!

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2011 20:06

Was going to make similar suggestion to esk. My friends dd loves
teapot. She always allows dd to have older toys though. Most parents are grateful for clothes. Debenhams do some lovely little outfits.

We have had two successful naps today, one in the pram and one in his Moses. No idea why these worked today. Did I notice his tired signs quicker? Am I an amazing mum? Or is it a one off fluke that will never happen again? Grin

CuriosityCola · 14/11/2011 20:11

Val, hope your dh has made it up to you.

Oh, meant to say. Had my hairdressers appointment at the weekend. Only second time out without ds. It was bliss. Glass of wine, reading magazines in peace, non baby chat with my lovely hairdresser, head massage...amazing! Ds had a lovely afternoon with dh. Came home to ds snoozing in his daddies arms. Smile Sorry for the self obsessed post...I don't get out much Grin

Fuzzywood · 14/11/2011 20:24

Nice to see some more familiar names graduating, congratulations all. Amazingly DS is now 9 and a half months old and has turned into a mini human wrecking ball now he's crawling and pulling himself up. His big sister is a bit less impressed with him now he can get at her stuff Grin.

Eskarina · 14/11/2011 23:00

Your hairdresser gives you wine?? Envy

CuriosityCola · 15/11/2011 08:20

Hey Fuzzy! I think you were a thread before me, but recognise your name. Smile

Oh yes, doesn't everyone choose a hairdressers that gives them the option of vino?!Grin

vallinnapod · 15/11/2011 14:40

CC mine gives people wine in the evening - unless you are me when he offers it at 10am on a Saturday Grin

Hey Fuzzy!

Thanks for the pressie ideas!

Eskarina · 15/11/2011 22:40

Hi Fuzzy. I think you got your bfp whilst I was still lurking...

Am having a proud mummy moment. Dd went down to sleep in under 5 mins. Am seriously impressed with this pick up lark. It didn't work at 4am though, dd had another huge tantrum. Have ordered "The No Cry Nap Solution" to tackle the lack of daytime naps next, though after not sleeping at all in the day yesterday she actually did quite well today.

We had a really fab morning at a local ceramics workshop. Our whole nct group went and the babies all did footprints on various bits of pottery, which the lovely ladies there are going to turn into great works of art. It wasn't unreasonably expensive, and has sorted a fair chunk of our Christmas shopping sorted out. I know my parents are going to love their photo frame with dd's foot prints, little flowers and insects made from her toe prints, and a special message to grandma and grandad. I almost can't wait for Christmas to give it to them!

Fuzzywood · 15/11/2011 23:01

Ah bless Eskarina that's lovely. We had foot and hand prints done of our two which are framed on our kitchen wall, very cute!
I like the sound of these hairdressers
How old is your DD Eskarina? 'Bad' napping can be a bit of a phase, both mine were a nightmare for a while. Meant I got plenty of exercise having to walk for miles to get them to sleep in the pram/ pushchair.

CuriosityCola · 16/11/2011 02:31

Snap, I was at a ceramics place yesterday too. Had hand and foot prints done and some pretty foot prints on Christmas baubles. Really excited about collecting them.

i have had a few days of ds taking naps.

For some reason I am wide awake whilst ds is fast asleep now though. Going to have a hot drink. x

Eskarina · 16/11/2011 04:09

Dd is 11 weeks but has never been much of a daytime sleeper. All the books that talk about the sleepy newborn phase ae hopeless. She was alert and wired from day 1.

CC how funny we did it on the same day. You're not secretly in my nct group are you? Grin. Also can't wait to collect on thurs. hope you got back to sleep. I'm about to try to get dd back into her cot after feed, this triggered meltdown yesterday so fingers crossed...

CuriosityCola · 16/11/2011 04:24

Still wide awake Sad Dh is away on business in London. Think it's too cold without him. Hope you got back to sleep ok.

vallinnapod · 16/11/2011 11:57

There must be something in the water as I am taking DS to a ceramics cafe tomorrow or Friday to do baubles!! X

ConfessionsOfAWereFanjo · 16/11/2011 20:49

Good to see you back Fuzzy Grin Can't believe you wee man is up and walking!!! DD has just cracked rolling and I'm realising she isn't a tiny baby anymore.

No ceramics here. Doing hand and foot prints of both kids on canvas instead. Have done DS, now just need to get DD in the paint (right before bath time). Hope the Grandparents like them!

DD got 2 teeth through yesterday and to celebrate she slept through for the first time in weeks. Hoping it wasn't a one off, but not holding my breath either.
