Here we are, our new thread and this time we all have our babies !

I thought we were getting thrush again, but then realised I had let ds's latch get sloppy. He was constantly clicking and tutting at the breast but I was too distracted to notice.

Ds and I made butterfly cakes together this morning, ds got to choose the colour of the buttercream icing ..... It is a very lurid shade of pink and they are covered in sugar strands. You can never have enough sugar!

Well, jabs are done. She cried a bit but was generally a brave girl. Got hoem and she's had a feed and now napping and I've got Brew and cake so we're both recovering and happy.

It's cooled off now but I'm Envy of your storm ILTMI I like watchign a storm from the comfort of being indoors.

JenAT · 28/06/2011 16:24

Thanks for all your kind remarks about my uncle.

Petal enjoy camping. I am v impressed that you are camping with a small baby. Hope you get good weather too.

ILTMIMI I too had a horrendous headache yesterday, and now after the thunderstorm last night it's much better!

Chilli Brew and cake here too as I've finally managed to get G to sleep after 1/2 hr of screaming. The cake is Barabrith from Wales and it's v tasty, especially with a nice thick slather of butter on top Grin

Petalouda · 28/06/2011 21:11

hey all. camping can't keep me off mn!

it's flipping freezing, and all I'm doing is worrying whether F is warm enough (he's currently in a body suit, sleep suit, 2 tog sleeping bag & cotton hat, with lambswool under his sheet and another blanket on top. It's currently about 14C in here). And it's not even dark yet. I love camping, but this might be too stressful. Trying to continue normal routine, but struggling.

And every little noise wakes him up.

Aargh. I want chocolate and my own home!ng can't keep me off mn!

Hope u have a good time petal

How much water should I give s between feeds? Its boiled and cooled right?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/06/2011 23:38

Petal - you have just reminded me why I don't camp, under any circumstances!! Grin

kitty - why are you giving water?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/06/2011 23:43

kitty - if you are BFing then you don't need to give water even when it is really hot, you'll just notice that S is wanting to feed more regularly. In the warm weather I normally offer both sides at a feed as often T will want just a quick extra 'drink' from the second side.

Lis - strictly speaking you don't need to sterilise your pump. BUT. In the interests of guarding against the dreaded thrush I would do it once a day/every couple of days. Candida is the only thing that the dishwasher won't kill, for that you need Milton.

kittycatcat · 29/06/2011 04:27

Thanks Ali hadn't given s water but he's been increasingly unsettled since fri so I thought it might be a thirst / hydration thing. Will try the boob Smile

LisMcA · 29/06/2011 09:00

I see Ali, I bow to your superior knowledge! [novice emoticon]Grin

Sun not turned up for work yet! Was going to wall to the surgery but will be late if I do mow. B still feedingy hairs still wet appointment at 9.30. I never used to be late!Wink

Starshaped · 29/06/2011 09:16

We've got rain here this morning. Rubbish!

I feel your pain Lis - we're late for everything now! P always seems to need feeding at the most inconvenient times!

I'm currently pinned to the settee with a snoozing baby on me. She's a really poor daytime napper, so I've come to the conclusion that if she falls asleep on me, i need to let her snooze. In the daytime, she always wakes the minute I put her down. I'll have to worry about creating 'bad habits' at a later date!

kittycatcat · 29/06/2011 10:12

starshaped s is the same in the day

LisMcA · 29/06/2011 10:46

B never falls asleep on me, he will on DH. No Idea why, but its probably a good thing. He's currenlty lying on his Lottie Ladybird playmat having an indepth conversation with the bee!! So cute!!

Made it to the docs on time! Phew! She was running late so managed ot catch my breath before going in! Contraception sorted, my clicky hip is a remnant of the SPD and I've got another physio referral, and my swollen tummy is normal after my CS. It was an epic appointment!!

fraktious · 29/06/2011 10:47

Another pinned snoozer here. This is his big nap I hope. Down at 12.15, been sleeping 1,5 hours, would like another 30-45 mins but not sure I'll get it.

10 weeks tomorrow so I'm relatively confident we're edging towards a pattern I can tweak!

chillikat · 29/06/2011 11:11

Lis love the image of the conversation with the bee :) M is on the playmat making coo-ing noises but she's not talking at any of the animals in particular.

M had a big afternoon nap after her jabs yesterday and was a really happy girl in the evening. Unfortunately I then messed it up but not putting her in bed after the massage at 9 and she ended up over tired and not settling until midnight. Must try the big afternoon nap again, as I also got loads done then (made some more cake!)

Jen mmm, barabrith :) I like a fruit loaf.

Sassy20 · 29/06/2011 13:06

Another pinned down snoozer here as well. L not slept very well last two nights so glad she's having a good nap now. Earlier she was chatting to the monkey on her playmate!

AussieMum2Be · 29/06/2011 13:53

Jen sorry to hear about your Uncle

Petal wow camping, I'm very impressed

We are thinking about a trip to Ireland to see DP extended family soon so got to organise a passport. Also need to complete DI paperwork for Aussie Citizenship !

DI never naps during day, 20 minute snoozes here and there after feeds but no big sleeps, she wouldn't settle last night and finally at 2am I let her lie down feed and stay asleep in bed with me. I Woke up about 4am and moved her to Moses.

Went & got her weighed this morning, she is 9 weeks and has now hit 8lb 1oz or 3.68kg, so she is still tiny but steadily gaining on the .4th centile. Was worried in the beginning but Dr and HV are happy as constantly gaining and everything else ok.

I tried expressing for the 1st time but only got just under 1oz from both udders, did it 3 times yesterday so got almost enough for 1 feed !! Will i start making more if I do this everyday ?

Was inspired by someone here and gonna make a coffee cake ! Have finished the cherry cobbler I made last week ! I ate the whole thing ! Gotta join a gym !

JustKeepSwimming · 29/06/2011 15:50

Aussie - if you keep pumping you will make more :)

I expressed a fab 4oz this morning for the freezer; mostly because M had slept a whopping 10hours!! Shock Of course I was awake waiting for the slightest squeak to get her up to feed, lol.

She is a napper on me too in the day, i keep putting her down when i need to do something else and she wakes up, hey ho. When i can i let her sleep on me and watch the tennis/MN/etc.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/06/2011 20:09

I keep meaning to ask, has anyone's hair started to fall out yet? My is still not falling out and I can't remember when it did with the ds's.

OP posts:
LisMcA · 29/06/2011 20:12

My "extra" hair has gone, but my head hair is still all there. I have a fuzzy hair line anyway, so I'm hoping it's not that noticable when it does come out.

JustKeepSwimming · 29/06/2011 20:18

The great hair fall out has just started here ILike.
I was wondering when it was going to happen, and i'm sure it was earlier with the boys but then the first few weeks with them was much blurrier than these recent weeks.

Anyway, after lovely months of not finding hair all over my shoulders or needing to use a hair catcher in the shower i think it's nearly time to start using it again.

Anyone else who had a c-s then a vbac, did your scar change colour/texture? My scar went much darker, sort of brown and developed a sort of roughness. Weird.

Petalouda · 29/06/2011 21:21

evening all.

camping with a 3 month old is stupid. we've had a lovely day with PIL but last night was awful. constantly worrying whether he was too cold (or too warm), worrying about waking the while campsite when he woke at 3.

he spent most of the last 3 hours screaming. he's now asleep but I don't want to put him down. I want to go home (it's a 4 hour drive). 3 months is too soon, and we are too far from home.

oh, and there was some yellow bits in his puke this evening. relatively normal or should we ring a doc?

Cyclebump · 29/06/2011 21:43

Wow, lots happening! It's wedding week for my sister so am off radar a lot.

If it helps Petal, H's sick is quite chunky and yellowy a lot of the time. Poor you, sounds miserable Sad Hope tonight is ok x

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 29/06/2011 23:53

Petal bless you it sounds a nightmare Sad Hope you get an ok night and that things look brighter in the morning. ((hugs))

Hair just starting to fall out here and T is 13 weeks.

Petalouda · 30/06/2011 02:57

hey all. spoke to DH, he was great. we packed up & left but have flaked about an hour from home so currently posting from a travelodge.

way better than a tent. expensive, but better than crashing on the last leg.

much happier. night all!DH, he was great. we packed up & left but have flaked about an hour from home so currently posting from a travelodge.

kittycatcat · 30/06/2011 03:57

Awh big hugs petal

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/06/2011 08:20

Glad you had a better night. At least you gave it a go Pet. I would never do what you did, but that's because I dont have an adventurous spirit. I'm mrs practical aka boring!

My scar hasn't changed appearance. but then it is very low down and was healed and faded very quickly after the op. It's so low I don't think the stretching uterus affected it.

Hope the wedding goes well Cycle, tell us all about the cheese cakes - oh yes, i remember the cheese cake discussion!

Oh yes, must remember to get the hair catcher out for the plug. I lose a lot of hair post partum, but I have thick hair anyway so it's not noticeable - apart from the new growth around my hairline at the front which looks ridiculous for months until it gets long enough to do anything with.
