Here we are, our new thread and this time we all have our babies !

I thought we were getting thrush again, but then realised I had let ds's latch get sloppy. He was constantly clicking and tutting at the breast but I was too distracted to notice.

Ds and I made butterfly cakes together this morning, ds got to choose the colour of the buttercream icing ..... It is a very lurid shade of pink and they are covered in sugar strands. You can never have enough sugar!

hope you're ready to be disappointed!

Petalouda · 23/06/2011 19:41

Today's celebrity baby-weigher was... Hannah Waterman (her from EastEnders a while back), and after a bit of a Google, turns out the slightly stuffy bloke with her is in The Bill.

I don't watch either and had them pointed out to me. But they didn't seem out of place or anything. Baby was teeny tiny though, made F feel like a proper chunk!

MrsWajs · 23/06/2011 19:42

drumroll................................................................

Petalouda · 23/06/2011 19:42

oh, didn't mean 'stuffy'! Should have read Scruffy (blaming Android again)

MrsWajs · 23/06/2011 19:44

oooh i didn't know she'd had her baby!! thats about as good as my celeb spot on friday - lorraine kelly! was stood next to her outside the jimmy carr venue and got ridiculously excited about it!!

kittycatcat · 23/06/2011 19:45

cycle I think ur sister is completely out of order. I am upset I can't take sam to DH's work colleagues wedding but your own sister. Am stunned.

Petalouda · 23/06/2011 19:48

there was no mention of her having had it anywhere when I googled. Must've been a few weeks ago tho cos they were out at the clinic.

I wonder if she'll come to BF group. She's most welcome, and we're all bringing cake next week! Grin

Cyclebump · 23/06/2011 19:53

I'm hoping she just means the ceremony Kitty, but I'll admit I was very hurt when they told me. Oh well.

Hannah Waterman is a bit of a coup, don't think the media knows yet...

Petalouda · 23/06/2011 20:04

well, unless media types trawl the postnatal threads, I won't be ratting her out! (and I don't think they'd be able to work out where she is, or anything). But, there were plenty of people around (including suspiciously "helpful" HVs!), so maybe one of them will blab/post on mn!

If it helps, we took F to 2 weddings recently at 9 & 10 weeks. Tactical feeding really helped - I fed him just before the first ceremony and he slept through it beautifully! For the second, I was a bridesmaid and it was in a church. We armed DH with a bottle of expressed and he sat at the back near the door. He nipped out at the first squawk, no-one noticed, and he and F had a lovely time out in the sunshine instead!

However, he was a lot sleepier at 9 weeks than he is now. A lot less aware. And he was the star of the receptions! Fortunately he was adored by both brides!

I was expecting your sis to come around after he was born (and she realised the implications of having a baby). I'm surprised she's still being so insistant! It really is a tough position to put you in.

MrsWajs · 23/06/2011 20:08

I definitely don't think they do, can't find anything on google either about her having had her baby!! Yay Petal phone The Sun!!

JustKeepSwimming · 23/06/2011 20:10

Woo for Hannah Waterman :)
(wasn't there rumour about who the father was? not sure if i've got the right person)

V cross on your behalf about sister, i really think she is BU, it's her nephew fgs not a random baby.

Oh yes, cotton wool, erm. We went straight to wipes with DD (M is a girl btw :) ), none of that faffing with cotton wool with the worst poo in the world, meconium, lol.

MrsWajs · 23/06/2011 20:12

I also took R to 2 weddings a couple of weeks ago and feeding during the ceremony is the way to go! But that would obviously be a bit difficult if you're the bridesmaid. Although someone did tell me it was good luck if a baby cries during the vows but have never heard that one myself!

Like everyone else I can't understand your sisters decision cycle, surely she actually wouldn't even know if your DH brought LO to the ceremony?!

MrsWajs · 23/06/2011 20:14

Huw Higginson is the father JKS [am a tad too interested in the tabloids!] he was in The Bill and is the bus driver on the jaffa cake advert.......I really need to get out more!!

Petalouda · 23/06/2011 20:20

I'm pretty sure it was Huw Higginson with her. Although he looks a lot less scruffy & sleep deprived in the photos on google! (as you would expect!)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2011 20:47

We didn't use cotton wool for nappy changes either - bad bad mother!

I think not letting you bring the baby is really bad form actually. I would be devastated if family or friends imposed it and I probably wouldn't go. It probably doesn't help that your dais doesn't have children, but still.....

Hannah Waterman was in the news because she smoked all of the way through her pregnancy. A prime reason for a low birth weight ......

Am impressed you spotted me Ecuse! I still haven't got round to trying to do loose curls with my GHD's but I'm determined I will!

I'm now off to scan my new hummingbird book (it's called cake days and was cheap on Amazon a few months ago) to see what ds and I can make next week. I think maybe a blueberry crumble cake.

Do you think Lis has thrown her drawers at Robbie yet?!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 23/06/2011 20:53

Lol ILike - maybe throwing a bf bra at him might not get the right response? Grin

i normally get the roundup emailed to me but have missed the one you're in, where can i see it on here?

Liv77 · 23/06/2011 23:39

Cycle Take another dress/outfit you can change into after the ceremony/photos so you can then feed when you want too, if your sis doesn't like it i'm afraid I would tell her where to shove it, it's not like she didn't know you'd have a baby. I know that every bride wants their day to be perfect but it's very Sad that she is being so thoughtless.

Petal Thanks for the celeb spot game. We know Lis is spending the evening with Robbie, anyone else had any brushes with fame/celebs?

JKS I survived sports day, I did take part in the mummies race but luckily it wasn't a running race. We were split into 3 teams of 12 and had to get down the track jumping on five mats and passing them up to the front without touching the shark infested waters (the grass). My team won and I got a 1st sticker (the first time i've ever won at sports day that's for sure) DH dad's race team was 2nd so DS has been telling everyone that mummy beat daddy, mummy was the best Grin. DS had a lovely time although he was last in his race as he kept stopping and waving at the crowd.

Petalouda · 24/06/2011 02:20

Ooh, Liv, good call with the 2nd dress. I even did that at one of the weddings we went to

I got this dress, but in pink. It's flipping brilliant too!

kittycatcat · 24/06/2011 06:51

Well done liv and bless ur lo.

Nice dress cycle

kittycatcat · 24/06/2011 06:52

Oops nice dress petal just woken up to feed s

Cyclebump · 24/06/2011 07:48

Ooh pretty, I reckon my sister will have chilled out a bit I just need to gird my loins and talk to her about it!

I probably will change for the reception as she is too. We've got the blessing on the Sunday and we have to wear the same outfits, I'm just too clumsy to risk it!

architien · 24/06/2011 09:25

Hello there,
I've been off drowning in toddler and young baby sea of never ending tasks and I've just caught up I've been trying to catch up with messages for the last three days. I'm starting to get worried about my (very glam, pre-child going clubbing days) friend's wedding on the 15th. I have nothing to wear (I have awful stumpy legs due to being stuck in with SPD twice in 3 years so that truly splendid dress would be ruined if put on me unfortunately) and I have no idea how I will keep my short folk quiet largely because DH will not take a day off to go. It's not nice living with DH just now it's constantly like walking on eggshells. As a gift from the folk at our Church they clubbed together and bought us a caravan holiday week by the sea an hour the other side of Edinburgh. It's normally the sort of holiday i would hate but actually now I've had two years without a holiday, being stuck in the same four walls and now we've got the children a kitsch caravan by the beach seems like a great idea. I'm going to pack today and leave tomorrow. Although it turns out that DH will not take the previously agreed week off so I fear it will be more stressful than restful. I'm still keen to go so I can build nice memories for F. In terms of helping with R he is developing what i think is screen addiction as he comes in and the first thing he does is turn on a screen, first thing in the morning he turns on a screen. He complains that he is exhausted all the time, which after the first two comments I start to find insulting given how knackered I feel but I'm not making an issue of with him. Frak I love the idea of going to the gym, really really love it. DH isn't getting home in time for me to get out to one (he gets in at 9pm, leaves at 7am). Keep those trainer hints and tips coming. I can but try in the Sitting Room. I've been referred to the physio for the tummy muscle separation and the continuing (but so much better than it was) SPD. I have no idea how I'm going to even get to the appointments sans children.
I'm going to try to salvage my veg plot today.

Lis did you enjoy last night?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 24/06/2011 10:10

arch - :( about your DH. I'm assuming it is a looming redundancy that has got him behaving so badly?
Can he look for another job rather than just waiting for the axe to fall?

Chaos here today. T slept really well, 11.45-8.15, but DS1's new bed is coming today so we've moved and dismantled his cot He is a bit confused and also excited and I've got bedding and all sorts all over the place. Could really do with DH here, but he had to go into the office to hand in his notice!
I am already eagerly anticipating some Wine this evening and it's only 10am Grin

Lis - I hope you had a fab time?

Liv well done. I tried doing some jumping with DS1 at his music group yesterday and nearly took my eye out with my boobs so I stopped - running would not have been on the cards at all!!!!

LisMcA · 24/06/2011 10:59

It was so good! Like being a teenager again! Must admit my grown up self rather fancies Howard now! Teenage self would have made this face Hmm!

Btu actually I don't think id kick any of them out of bed!! Maybe jason for obvious reasons!

Robbie did some of his own stuff, not the stuff slagging gary though! I worry that he may be back on the marching power though! If you are reading this robbie [hopeful] please sort yourself out.

What was really nice to see was young girls(10 or 11) there singing their hearts out. Even to the old stuff!

On the train on way home! Boobs fit to bursting. It broke my heart having to dump my milk down the sink!

Sorry no namechecking. But hugs for arch, how lovely are your church. Hope you get to enjoy your break.

Petalouda · 24/06/2011 11:41

Glad you had a good time Lis!

I think we're still growth-spurting here. He's wanted feeding about every hour so far this morning, with half hour sleeps in between (preferably on me, of course!)

Good job I've got a lazy day planned. But tonight is my NIGHT OFF! I'm going to the year 11 prom. Hopefully, F'll be asleep and won't know the difference. But DH will have a freezer full of milk (and some from this morning in the fridge), and should be fine.
