July 2010: Drool it, maul it, crawl over it - that's how our threadbabes would eat a creme egg. But why the Creme Egg?!

Would you believe on the subject of pushchairs there's an add in our local shop selling a full gracco travel system for £29 with change bag. Total bargain.

That's great about E being good, it is lovely to hear your doing a good job. Don't blame you being Sad about being home.

Aww memphis poor L sounds sore, hope he's ok.

Chulita its been so long since I tt but I did the same stuff as wss but also with the plastic knickers

Dd is asleep I have taken painkillers as my cramps kicked in but I am shattered today. Trudy the bugs away I think.

Dh bounce and rhyme is basically doing actions to songs so it must be different, sounds good. Your right to get out and about wish we had more here.

So good it posted twice Blush

kkfairybrains · 25/05/2011 22:04

7 months????!!!!!! how is that possible?!!!

Needle · 25/05/2011 22:10

I'm not really sure KK! Someone told my mum that apparently in china they don't use nappies at all but work on toilet training form day one. Apparently they have babygros with slits on the bottom and when they reckon baby is about to go, they hold them over a potty. I have no idea if she was joking or not. I know one the of the blogs I read is a woman who had a baby two weeks ago and they're working on "elimination communication". She reckons it's brilliant and she already has her baby peeing and pooing on demand whenever they hold her over the potty (they are using nappies too though)

Seriously. This pushchair thing is killing.

kkfairybrains · 25/05/2011 23:15

Oh god on top of all the usual newborn stuff worrying about reading the signs of when they need to go toilet! no thank you! i think stacs idea is a good one. You need to go to a shop that has a wide range of them, get a feel for what you like and go home and read reviews and decide. I became obsessed with strollers before we bought this one and everybody that walked past me i'd be staring at their stroller! even when i'd be driving i'd be looking!

Needle · 25/05/2011 23:26

you're probably right, I just have no idea where to go. My head is totally spinning now and I'm so cross with the Freeway for packing up at such a bad time.

Woodlands · 25/05/2011 23:41

I have a Chinese-Canadian friend who puts her baby on a potty when she sees the signs, though currently he is pooing during mealtimes so not doing it then. I've heard that children are generally clean and dry sometime around/after 2.5 years, and there's really not much point doing it too much before then.

I'm trying to get hold of a second hand Maclaren, have got several on my eBay watch list! Lots of people do rave about the Phil and Ted's as a single/double. If money were no object, how about the Bugaboo Donkey?!

CakeandRoses · 26/05/2011 00:06

Grin at tsc

oh memph poor poor L. I was wincing reading your description of his poor nose Sad really hope it's a bit better tomo.

wss you ok?

needle we're a three-buggy family as we have:

  • the Mamas and Papas Pliko Pramette, which was F's first pram and is still going strong with A. It's a lie-flat pram for newborns then converts to a pushchair. It has a small buggy board which F uses now but was too young for initially when A was small.
  • we have a lightweight stroller like this which we first bought for holiday when F was 11m. it's been used TONS for both of them since. We tend to keep it in the car and use it whenever we go out anywhere by car (with F walking or him in the stroller and A in the sling). tbh, i could probably get by with just this for A during the summer. Could you get something similar for the summer to postpone making a costly decision now?
  • the jewel in the crown is this twin version of the single chul mentioned, it's slightly narrower than the super Nipper she also mentioned but otherwise it's v similar. i love love love it. it's so well-designed and light to steer i've even been tempted to use it on days when I've just got A. My friends all lust after it once they've had a push Grin Even tho F is now great at walking long distances, I still use it most days as we tend to walk everywhere near busy roads/up steep hills so it's great to chuck him in when he's tired/doing my head in or i'm just finding it hard to coordinate him getting up a hill/bust road safely whilst i'm pushing A.

i've just uploaded a pic of them in it to our FB group

if you do buy a double then do tons and tons of research as they vary massively. we found youtube reviews really informative.

Need bed now so catch you all in the morning. Sweet dreams...

I'm fine thanks cake apart from G waking up stupidly early again. The boob pain has subsided tho I still look a bit Dolly-esque. I still feel a bit sad that she decided to stop but really, 10 months is a decent enough time to feed.

I have been listing benefits of not bfing: a) I can wear nice bras again b) I can go out more c) she is waking up less at night d) I lose weight much easier once I am not bfing e) I am much less tired when I am not bfing.

So there you are, there are some benefits and although I feel sad I will never bf a baby again, I will stop going on about it now Grin.

needle we have only ever had one pram and it's a single so I can't help you on doubles. I originally planned on buying a single that converted to a double as I planned on having 2 v close together but it didn't happen that way for us (Im sure it will for you, you are a young thang and I am a lot older)

memphis sorry to hear about L's nose

I dont really know what the discussion on buggies is but we've got a lightweight stroller from Mothercare for D now. We've kept the Graco though. This stroller was £25 and the accessory pack was £20. I didnt want to spend £100 on another buggy, seemed a bit pointless.

Dylan has nappy free time and he often wees on the carpet, then sits and plays with the wee!

Chulita · 26/05/2011 07:59

needle I would definitely recommend the double baby jogger over the nipper for smallness. I absolutely love the nipper but it is wider than I'd like - we got it cos I run and there's no way the baby jogger would handle running (despite its name). A friend has the iCandy Pear and she thinks it's brilliant but again you can't run with it hence us ruling it out.

I was hoping L would forget about potties til tomorrow when I don't have a group to go to but she got downstairs, nappy off, on potty then wee'd somewhere else. I know there's a puddle somewhere, I just can't find it Confused There's no way I'm doing EC either. I debated with L when my whole world revolved around her but no way with S!

Chulita · 26/05/2011 09:09

cake I have to say that I would pick the Nipper over the Jogger any day, if you think the jogger is easy to push, the nipper is even easier/more maneuverable and has a bit more storage space. It is however a bit wider and a pita to fold up. For us though it's just what we want seeing as we never, ever fold it up cos we hardly use the car and I can run with it.
I've heard with the P&T the bottom child grabs the wheels [boak] Major reason for not getting it considering how poo we roll in. I am blocked from certain shops though cos I can't get the buggy in!

So far it's carpet/pants 2 - potty 0. I'm still debating putting her in nappies to go out this morning cos I don't want to be mopping the floor at the children's centre. I could stay around here but I've an almost friend who might be having her baby next week so would like to wish her luck/ogle at her huge belly Grin

I think I'll be fine with accidents (not my carpet hah!) but time will tell! (how do you get them to stop playing with themselves? Confused)

Chulita · 26/05/2011 09:09

I'm quite wanting that one you linked to mlic, that's bad isn't it?!

Trudyla · 26/05/2011 09:19

I just uploaded a few pictures of M and me on our FB group. At least I hope I did. Can someone please tell me, if it didn't work and it's out in the www. Ta.

You can all picture me and M now when I'm talking to you. That does help, doesn't it. My DP hates the idea of piccies of us (esp. M) on t'internet, so I will take them down again after a while. It's not fair to ignore him.

Longer post to follow.

Chulita · 26/05/2011 09:25

Just remembered 2 other things I love about the Jogger [obsessed saddo] the sun canopy on it is freaking massive so no worries about sun in the eyes, ever and it lies flat (unlike the nipper) with a pull down bit to block sun/wind and is one-handed not faffy (like the crappy nipper clip thing). I'm moving on now, I promise Grin

chulita I forgot to respond earlier to your dilemma about the invite on Saturday. I can totally, totally understand that you are nervous. I hate, hate, hate going into a room of strangers, but I hope you will still go. If you find one person that you'll like and get on with it was worth it. Then you have someone to meet and go out with.

I really struggle with those things as well. Once I have friends I keep them for ages, but I am so shy about making them, it's painful. So try and go, if it's absolutely awful, say that you left the oven on and leave, then cry at home. That's what I would do. But chances are, you will find someone nice to chat to and the kiddies will have a ball. Good luck!

Wss If you're really rather sad, why don't you look into some advice about it maybe being a nursing strike. Kelly Mom has some good tips and info about that.

www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-breast.html#strike

Needle I'm listening / reading with interest about the double buggy discussion. I was hoping we might get away with not buying one and just using our normal one for baby to sleep in and M to walk (if she can do that by then) or use a sling for the babe and M in the pram once it's turned into a buggy. Mmmh. But you all, cake, chulita and mlic would recommend a double, wouldn't you? Might have to rethink.

memphis How is L's nose this morning?

Good luck with the potty training chulita (what does tt stand for? ) Hope you won't have to do too much mopping outside the house.

Meeting a friend later for a picnic in the park.

Have a good day all.

Trudyla · 26/05/2011 09:32

Tick for MLIC, next one knocked up

Seriously, how are you feeling about it?

Chulita · 26/05/2011 09:32

lalalalalalalalalala I want to test cos I've been having just-about-to-get-af pains for days and yet nothing, cm is all odd (as in lots and lots of it like I get when pg) but I don't want to test and find I'm not ... if you are that'll just make me even more frustrated! Grin

Chulita · 26/05/2011 09:35

TT = toilet training
tbh trudy if we were still in Dorset I wouldn't have got the double because we didn't often walk more than a mile at a time due to living in the boonies and needing to drive to get anywhere. We waited til we got here before buying a double cos we regularly walk 4+ miles and L can't manage that much.
