Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Well if I was going to have another one I could start trying as my periods came back on Thursday [grr] and Sad. Was really hoping to avoid this for a few more months at least. Qlwrytyyuipp. That last was from ds.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 05/06/2011 19:31

Me too Floozie was gutted when they returned!

HJ, no his exit date is around the same time, so we venture into the great unknown together Smile.

HarrietJones · 05/06/2011 19:52

Mocking - the world is your oyster then!

Floozie- I had one in Jan then nothing til this week. Took MAP & think it kick started me :(

Well I am envious of your returning periods.

DS has a tooth just poking through, I can feel it clearly. Hard to see though, so not sure when I can count it from - now? Or when it's fully through?

HarrietJones · 05/06/2011 22:38

When it's sharp I think.

NoHun I know, we should swap! Except you wouldn't want my fertility record, but I would love your successful exclusive breastfeeding one. Have you considered at what stage you mght consider cutting back on bf if you're still period-free say after a year or 15 months? Or earlier? Hard call really.

Mock are you not able to have another during that time or is it your choice? You'd still be young enough at the end. Look at me!

Hello everyone else. Am onphome so hard to name check. My laptop has died and I'm praying it can be revived.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/06/2011 08:31

Floozie Its our choice, but if I have an overwhelming desire for another and we can, then we will, but the way it stands atm, that won't be the case. Right now, I feel happy with that decision.

NoHun DD used to be big into her comfort feeds and often used me during nap time and in the night. Now she's much more perfunctory so I think thats what brought my periods back. Does your DS comfort feed esp at night? Cracking that might make all the difference. Also, the mind is a powerful thing, so try imagining yourself ovulating! I knew my AF was coming as I get appalling pain at ovulation time.

HarrietJones · 06/06/2011 09:12

Dd3 has taken to wanting to play from about 2am. If we don't play ( which we don't) she kicks me & rolls round the bed to be noisy & feed & be noisy to get as much attention as possible. I'm knackered

Hello all,
Just joining in the chat about having another baby - number two is on the way for us already (due December) and for me being older was definitely a factor making me not want to wait too long (I'm 36). So we'll have a 14 month gap. Am hoping DD will learn to walk before no.2 arrives!

Really pleased for her though as she's a very social girl and I think she'll love having a little bro/sis. She's fascinated by other babies.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend enjoying the weather!

HarrietJones · 06/06/2011 09:26

Congratulations lizkin :)

Thanks HJ. 2am sounds exhausting! I guess you're co-sleeping? Hope she gets out of that habit.

HarrietJones · 06/06/2011 10:36

Half & half. Cot until the first feed, then I doze through the feed/ 2nd feed then dd3/dh get up at 6:30ish & I sleep for another hour. Usually.

If she does it tonight dh will go in the spare bed and I will settle her. It's easier for me to do than both of us. If it doesn't work dh will take over in the morning

Thanks, ft. I have always wanted to let him self-wean at his own pace, but I think if I am not pregnant by a year, I might see about encouraging him to cut back a little. Possibly! Probably by then he'll be eating more solids, so fingers crossed it will happen naturally. I don't like to interrupt what he wants, but I really do have concerns about being a much older mother, not so much for my energy levels, just for the increased risks for the baby/ies.

Mock, I think yes, some of it is comfort feeding - but for me, that is just as valid, and I don't want to discourage him off that yet, at what I consider still a young age. Mind you, he is feeling more and more like a little toddler as opposed to a baby now! He's even started walking up the stairs (with me holding on to his hands). I will definitely start imagining myself ovulating. I also love the ease of breastfeeding, just being able to feed him wherever, and not having to pack food.

Lizkin, great to hear from you! And wow - many congratulations. How exciting. :)

HJ, hope you get more sleep tonight. Though I love the idea of co-sleeping with all my babies, a full bed of snuggly scrummy babies. Lush.

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/06/2011 12:48

Lizkin Brilliant news!!!

So how many feeds are people on a day? DS is still on about six to seven feeds a day at the moment. I'm hoping that with the introduction of breakfast I can get him to cut one so I'm not attached to a pump all day at work.

When do you feed your LO's breakfast? I tried today after our second feed of the day and he wasn't interested. Any tips as to when is best to introduce it?

HarrietJones · 06/06/2011 13:13

I usually do breakfast after school run so 9-9:15 but she's not normally interested. Approx 6 feeds a day but this mornings lasted 2 hours with only minimal dozing so possibly on a growth spurt. Food is currently all being thrown and she is waiting to be told 'no' think I have another rebel [rollseyes]

Congratulations Lizkin!

Nohun-I hope your periods return for you. It seemed to be associated with cutting out night feeds in my friends, but I have nonidea how "scientific" that observation is!

We are on 4 feeds a day now-one 2 hours around breakfast, one mid afternoon, one infront of itng with Ds and one at night still-I think she gets so distracted during the day we still need a quiet one at night.
Wenhave 2 dc now and I think that's our lot- unfortunately I dont think we can afford another even if we wanted, us Ds1 is very demanding, so for dd2 to get the attention she deserves 2 will be our lot :)

Xavielli · 06/06/2011 13:43

Congrats Lizkin, me too, tested positive this morning! EDD 17th Feb. Haven't told dp yet. He had the snip in Feb this year so probably isn't going to be pleased!!

DS2 is splendid! Rolling, sitting, rocking on hands and knees and eating everything in sight! Dreading the crawling and being pg again. On the upside the age difference will be the same as between my older two so I know what to expect .

Hope you are all well

HarrietJones · 06/06/2011 14:07

Congrats Xavelii :) Confused :)

Congratulations xavelli! Grin

sam12 · 06/06/2011 14:46

Congrats Lizkin and Xavelli- hope DH takes the news well Smile.

I want 4 babies but DH is adament 2 is the limit- so twins would be lovely next time then I would be happy with the comprimise of 3. Lots of DH family have had twins on the 3rd pregnancy so I think that is why he won't budge and go for 3. Though to be honest I am enjoying DD so much that if it never happens again I would be ok- with my phobias I never even thought that I would have 1. Grin But like a lot of you am getting to the age where time is a big factor which is why we are getting started on number two asap.

Tribble we are on about the same number of feeds maybe a little less about 2/3 in the day time and 2/3 during the night. DD usually has a little feed when she wakes up and then about an hour or so later she has breakfast when she has had time to fully come round and build up an appetite- maybe try giving breakfast when you normally do the second feed but before he gets too hungry ifyswim.

Have started a spring clean as I am sure that I won't have much time when I go back to work and am at that point where I wish I'd never started. I should be making the most of this time whilst dd is having a rare nap instead of being on here. I am worried about how I am going to fit work in as my days are very full already!

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/06/2011 15:31

Xav Congratulations!!!! Grin

Sam I'm doing the same, my house looks like a jumble sale at the moment.

Also, I am feeling pretty darn proud of myself. I've been bugging DH to put the cot up for ages (as DS has grown out of his crib). I had enough after the third weekend of asking, so I did it myself this morning. It was hard work, but I did it at the same time as dealing with a cranky DS.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/06/2011 15:36

Wow Xav and Lizkin! Congratulations Smile.

Trib this is our rough routine: Up at around 7 and bf. Then DD plays whilst I get showered and dressed then we go downstairs for breakfast where we eat together, DD has porridge. Then its a bf at 1100 to 1200 ish then lunch at 1300. Then Bf at 1600 and dinner at 1700. Bedtime routine commences at 1800 with a bf before bed at 1900. Then there's usually a bf in the night as DD wants it. If its too late, like 0500 onwards then no one has a chance of any more sleep Grin!

Sometimes she eats solids (bfast is always eaten) and sometimes she just messes about with the food. So basically we're on 5 bfs a day. I asked the HV today what the average amount for a 1 year old to bf is as I'm thinking of weaning DD off the breast then and the HV said it depends and how much was DD feeding now. I told her 4-5 times a day and she smiled in a way that suggested that DD was a milk gannet....so who knows!

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/06/2011 15:44

Mock Do we perhaps have the same child? Thats our routine bar the breakfast.

TyNobdieJigz · 06/06/2011 16:19

Congrats Liz and Xav and nice to hear from you two again :)

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/06/2011 17:20

Grin Trib!

I've just handed DD some flapjack which has been comprehensively devoured.

NoHun would you mind sharing your falafel recipe? I'd like to try DD with them, I think they'd be a hit.
