Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

I'm exhausted. No idea why. Permanently shattered. Nothing a large Pimms can't fix!

HarrietJones · 14/06/2011 20:29

Dd3 is now crawling forwards as well as backwards, wriggling, rolling & cruising. Dh has been attacking Walls with safetygates today.
Her signing is starting to click, I started again last week with more effort and she is making gesture with her hands as if she is trying. She did sign Mammy today but said dd2s name Grin

Grin it did go quiet! I fought off the zombies with a Zumba class tonight-shattered now :)

Dd crawledforward today for the first time-she is so pleased with herself!

I had a wisdom tooth out so have been feeling sorry for myself Sad and spent today cooking as my dad and his DP have been round for dinner. Also my MIL bought me lots of random food that was near its sell by date so have been trying to come up with things to make with it and stock up the freezer so that none of it goes to waste.
I've had a look for a sign class too Harriet but the only one I have found is on a day when I will be working so there is no point starting it. Have you found it to be good?
Mock was asking about the Spin because we have got one too and our brakes are always sticking, I can usually manage to work them free but I think that one time I won't be able to.

busyprocrastinating · 14/06/2011 21:57

Yeah for all the LOs crawling forward. DD is close but still at the stage where she just gets really cross. She is cruising now too but gets too excited and flaps her arms which leads to her landing on her bum Smile

HarrietJones · 15/06/2011 06:49

I just do signing at home. Dh & I are both signets & I taught dd2 when she had speech problems so both girls sign bits too.
In the night & this morning I had A with the sign for mammy & she's just looked at dh & signed Daddy. Not sure how deliberate it is but we've made a fuss & she seems pleased!

DS must be uber lazy! Still doesn't go on his tummy, prefers sitting up on laying on his back or side. He has started bouncing on the spot when he's sat up which is quite funny and I wonder if that's a sign of the next stage?

HarrietJones · 15/06/2011 07:34

Is he a talker silver? dd1 didn't crawl til she was almost one but had loads of words early. Dd2 walked v early but speech was delayed. Dd3 hasn't got many sounds yet but is v mobile

Dh has a new job. Means he's going to be practically ft which wasn't the plan but we expect job1 to drop off after the summer.don't want to say what it is as it's rather specific but it's to do with a favourite hobby so he should be v happy (haven't seen him yet though).

Good news about your dh job hj

Ds not crawling yet but he is walking everywhere either using furniture or holding our hands. He has been trying for the last few weeks to stand without holding on to anything, and finally managed it today for about five seconds but then he was so pleased with himself he decided to jump up and down to celebrate, and of course fell over straight away (luckily dh there to catch him).he makes all sorts of noises but isn't talking yet. Oooh but he learnt to get from lying on his stomach to sitting up yesterday. It feels like he learns something new every day at the minute, unfortunately he is still resisting learning to sleep through the night, four hours at a time max this week [sleepy[

SilverSky · 15/06/2011 19:04

Not talking as such but burbling and "dada"ing and screeching, laughing, blowing raspberries (a lot) and oooh/aahing. I guess that is talking! Grin

HarrietJones · 15/06/2011 19:16

That's a lot more than dd3 silver.

Tonight's tea conversation moved on from peekaboo to signing Daddy & grinning. Think she's getting it now. Have to pick some more!

HJ, can you recommend any signing literature/videos/tools etc? Links to Amazon would be appreciated. Ta!

HarrietJones · 15/06/2011 21:38

Not sure really as we are both BSL based but used to adapting toSN so we tend to do it ourselves.
Toddlers like Mr Tumble but will have a think

Had a quick look round YouTube and lots are ASL(American) and Auslan(Austrailian). Try & do BSL or Makaton. Clearest was 'baby signing mummy' who seems to be a baby sign teacher. She seemed v clear. You may find signs vary amongst BSL/makatinbvideos as there's loads of dialects( dh & i are v different!)

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 08:21

Do you use sign language at home anyway HJ? We have baby signing classes in the area but I can't afford it-Mr Tumble's makaton works for ds1

HarrietJones · 16/06/2011 10:21

We use odd bits. If dh & I want to talk without dd2 hearing or if we are somewhere noisy it's useful.after 10 years of it continuously at work I slip into it with songsBlush

Hello everyone!

BIL's tumour is benign thank goodness, but its still not a good thing to have. Too dangerous to remove so they are going with leaving it for now and seeing how they go. He's having a brain scan to double check its ok.

Drove back from London this morning- shattered as only got 5 hours sleep. About to stuff food down our necks before going out to collect dogs. Yawn.

Hope you're all well. x

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 14:49

Mocking that's fantastic news :) I hope they are taking his back pain seriously now-maybe try acupuncture as well as analgesic meds?

HarrietJones · 16/06/2011 16:24

Bet that's a relief mocking!

Who was the camper on here? Seashells? We've bought a cheap tent & stuff so going to have to have a go now!

NoHunIntended · 16/06/2011 16:29

That's great, Mock, phew.

And thanks for the sign language info, Harriet.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 21:48

HJ-yes I'm the happy camper Grin the kids will love it, and it gets better the more experienced you get. The camping board is the last bastion of insanity sanity on mn ATM if you want any advice :)

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 16/06/2011 21:49

Just dont forget the wine

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/06/2011 13:16

Ooh, camping. I'd like that Smile.

Rats and drat. Have just lost the job I was meant to be getting in the Spring next year. Everything up in the air now and in negotiations for something else. Grr.

Went to baby Peep yesterday which I really like, so thought I'd take DD to a local baby and toddler group I found out about. DD seemed to enjoy playing with other toys but I just don't really enjoy these groups without something specific to do. The small talk is not me and I found the whole thing faintly scuzzy. Going back next week though as I owe them £1 for the tea!

SilverSky · 17/06/2011 14:07

mock I decided to call it quits on toddler groups etc unless I'm with a friend. Like you I find it all really hard work and I can't wait for it to finish. I'd rather be hanging out with my chums or doing something at home, even the chores!!!
