OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

Cooee 4mad are you stalking me?

Shock at all the walking standing, talking babies! We can't even persuade Norry to sit, he just tries to stand up instead. He is practically crawling though so I guess it won't be long til the rest starts too Grin

4madboys · 04/06/2011 14:55

cant see merryn crawling anytime soon, but she is very wriggly and loves to stand.

she has just eaten two ice cubes of mashed pear with a bit of apple and is now playing with, gumming on some ripe pear, not hugely successfully as its rather slippy (peeled) and she is chasing it round her high chair tray Grin

she at the mush quite happily but again wasnt overly enthusiastic, but we did get some smiles whilst eating as well as the wtf faces!

Wallace · 04/06/2011 21:33

2 teeth!? we have no teeth (and very little hair...)

hooray on the weaning front Grin

H doesn't even really stand very well, let alone crawl. Nice square bum for sitting though!

bunnygirl80 · 05/06/2011 07:15

No teeth here Sad despite showing signs of teething since about 12wks. MIL told me that DH and his brothers didn't get any teeth until at least 8mo so Will must take after them.

He's crawling everywhere, and despite the large box of expensive toys which I am scattering around the room he appears to be more interested in my shoes and the stuff on the low shelf under the coffee table. Will be removing all non-baby safe things from the lounge while he's at nursery tomorrow.

He was very brave on Friday and didn't even cry when he had his 6mth immunisations. His official weigh in showed he's tripled his birthweight already Shock

Wallace · 05/06/2011 08:59

bunny - that disproves my theory that it is the lighter babies that crawl earlier!

Fenouille · 05/06/2011 09:31

Wallace judging by your pictures of H on fb it looks like we've got twins. Very little hair here either Grin

Shock about the crawling too bunny. Norry's trying hard but it's more of a commando crawl than anything else!

4madboys · 05/06/2011 09:56

well at least norry is trying, merry isnt!

mind my first didnt crawl till 9mths and then only becasue dp and i physically put him in the crawling position and moved his arms and legs and showed him what to do Hmm

ds2 crawled at 5mths, that was a nightmare and ds3 was 6 mths ish, ds4 was 8mths and tbh its easier when they cant move!

i will take merryn to go and get weighed this week i think and check in on the weaning front, they will probably say she should be eating more Hmm but we have made a start, tbh i just want to get to the 9mth onwards stage where she can just have whatever we are having!

Lainey1981 · 05/06/2011 18:35

Shock at at these genius babies, too scary that they can crawl, stand talk etc already.
Finn is a great sitter and will happily play like that for up to an hour. He does face plant a lot when leaning forward for toys that are too far away. He gets stuck, but mostly can get himself back up to sitting but if he falls backwards he tries to do sitmups but just gets stuck, tis v amusing. He loves to stand supported and will try to move walk/ move his feet forward, but has no upper body strength so think crawling may still be a while off yet as only his legs move lol. Can someone explain what commando crawling is please?

Feeding still going well, though he has a cold and can't breathe so not really that interested over the last few days. Still having to practially physically restrain dp's family from feeding him biscuits/ice cream/ junk. He is more than happy with my purees, but I am sure they think I am being cruel for just giving him fruit and veg. Might introduce fish this week.
Left him overnight for the first time last weekend, which I am so glad about now, though there were tears (mine) at the time. Think it will be good for him to be used to being at his gps before separation anxiety kicks in.
Oh and re earlier discussion of periods, mine have been so painful since habing Finn, with the excpetion of the 2 I had while on cerazette. It sucks, though ( tmi alert) am happy to report was able to use a tampon for the first time PN this week. < proud of pelvic floor recovery emoticon> i had almost given up hope!
Having overshared as usual, my work here is done Wink
< holds self back from sharing anything else>

Fenouille · 05/06/2011 21:01

Gee, thanks for sharing Lainey Wink I'm currently dusting off my mooncup but also wondering whether it's going to stay in... perhaps I shouldn't make this experiment at work

Commando crawling is like soldiers do on assault courses, crawling flat to the ground. Norry kind of does this, except his is a cross between commando crawling and wiggling like a worm Hmm He also has lousy upper body strength. He desperately wants to walk but is far too wobbly, even when I hold his arms.

4mad I made some lentil puree out of the book you recommended (the Optimal Nutrition one) and I couldn't shovel it into Norry fast enough! Thanks ever so for the recommendation, I've got loads of ideas from it. For anyone interested, sweat a small leek, carrot and stick of celery in olive oil in a saucepan for 10 minutes, then add 50g red lentils and 300ml and cook for 20 minutes. I wizzed it up a bit after, but not to total puree stage and it went down a storm.

Wallace · 05/06/2011 21:48

Lol fen i see what you mean!

lainy - wow at sitting playing for that long :)

H waved bye-bye today! Thought it was a fluke but he did it again later Grin

bunnygirl80 · 06/06/2011 01:12

wallace Will's light as a feather at a mere 9.3kg Grin

Wallace · 06/06/2011 07:48

bunny - a lightweight indeed Grin theory blown out of the water....

hmmSleep · 06/06/2011 09:45

Someone has decided 4am is morning time and it is not me [knackered emoticon].

Wallace, I've had Lottie in intensive hand waving training for weeks now but she still just looks at me with a that's very nice mother expression, so I'm most impressed at H.

As for periods, mine did start, then promptly stopped again so now I'm left wondering if it's about to start again or was that it?

Few posts to catch up on but just need to shout MEGA BOOB!!!! Good Lord, switching to formula is tricky; I have a weaning plan and it's the second week - today I look like a porn star who could only afford to have one side done! Not scheduled to bf until about 3.30 so this afternoon will be fun!

i wave for merryn, as in i hold her arm/hand and move it so she waves, and she looks at me like Hmm

Fenouille · 06/06/2011 18:13

Hmm is the main response to waving here as well. Although I do wave goodbye every morning when I drop him off at the CM so I'd have thought he'd have got the hang of it by now...

Shock Bunny Will is 3kg heavier than Norry - that's a whole baby Shock Shock But he's not crawling either so either Wallace's theory is completely screwy or we're already heading for remedial classes - he's not even sitting up! Just tries to stand instead Grin

Wallace · 06/06/2011 20:03

i must admit to hothousing the "waving bye-bye" skill Blush. I've been flopping his arm up and down for him recently and now he's got the hang of it Grin

i must get H weighed- last time he was 7 weeks old!

sg - ouch boobs!

BorisTheBold · 06/06/2011 20:39

Hey ladies - haven't been on for a while, but I've got a good excuse!

Wedding was fab, really enjoyable day and all three girls were so well behaved - not that I saw much of Astrid for most of the day as she got whisked away by two of my best friends, who have decided no more babies for them but love to look after A. There are some pics on FB, for those of you who are my friends Grin. Only downside is that some bugger nicked a number of the cards at some point during the day, culminating in a loss of over £300 in cash gifts. Police are now involved and luckily we had taken out insurance which covers us up to £225 for cash gifts, so hopefully we wont lose out completely. The worst thing was having to call/text/email our friends to get confirmation if they had given us a gift - and telling them not to worry if they hadn't (as we didn't ask for any, since we'd been together for such a long time), but we didn't want them thinking we were rude later on for not sending a thank you note when we never received the card. All very bloody annoying and embarassing.

Anyway, onto the babe - Astrid will be 7 months old next week and can roll onto her tummy, but not back again, is still not sitting up, has no teeth, hardly any hair and a lovely crop of cradle cap still - am I selling her to you yet?!! Wink

In saying that, I'm not worried at all, as she's pretty much following the pattern of my older two, in that she's more of a talker than a mover (also sounds like me too Grin). So far she's a demon for making slavery raspberries, also does excellent, and very clear, "da-d" and "daddy" (repeats "I am not jealous that she's not mumming yet, even though I spent 95% of my time with her") and is also coming out with "hiya" and "ell-o" pretty regularly.

She's still a fab sleeper, doing 12-13 hours each night - which is better than her big sisters even now (I woke up to dd1 on the laptop at 6.45am this morning when I went to get A's bottle - dd1 is 6 Shock) and A has the sweetest nature out of all three. If I were allowed a favourite she would be it, at the moment!

She does wave, but not on command, and loves to play the pretend cough game - I do a pretend pathetic cough and she copies me, I then have to ask her if she has a "bad cough" and she laughs and does it again over and over again. A is also still a skinny minny, pretty much growing out of 6-9 month clothes but was only weighing in at 16lb 1oz last week! Still not got a huge appetite, but seems happy enough and poos enough to keep a small farm in manure if needed!

Thinking about returning to work next month. They've offered me a mega payrise to return earlier as my boss has left and they've got no-one else in the company to do the job. I've sent them a proposed working pattern, which basically changes my office based days from 5 pw to 2 pw, with the other 3 days working from home based around my childcare/school runs. Haven't heard anything negative yet, but I'm not chasing as don't want them to think I'm too keen to return (even though the extra cash would come in handy) and my summer holiday child carer has advised she might not be able to have my three over the summer - waaah. So keep your fingers crossed for me for my work agreeing to my demands and for my CM to agree to have the girls at least until September.

BorisTheBold · 06/06/2011 20:41

sorry for the mega post Blush

SGJ · 06/06/2011 21:06

Argh Boris, what a git someone was to steal your wedding presents! Glad you had a great day though, photos are lovely.

Waving is a big hit here too, I flap Jessica's arm around and she finds 'hello', 'bye bye' and 'night night' hilarious, although is not quite at the waving for herself stage.

You'll all be pleased to know that boob is fine now, back to 'normal' size & hopefully won't be too bad tomorrow. Have had a white wine & lemonade to congratulate myself on such stoicism.

Fenouille · 07/06/2011 20:02

Yay for your boob SGJ Grin

Hmm

Anyway... Boris what an arse about the presents, such a pain for you to have to follow up, BUT the photos on fb show you looking fabulous and obviously having a great time. I hope the great memories override the annoyance of the theft. Thank goodness for insurance!

Good luck for the job negotiations :)

Wallace · 07/06/2011 20:07

bummer boris. i'm on the fb group now - which one are you? want to see pics!
