OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

oh thanks bunny, she only took half what she did normally overnight 3oz at 11pm and 3oz at 5am and then this morning she seemed to want the bottle, then cried when offered then took an ounce :( and now wont take anymore :(

i will take her to the drs tomorrow, or even call the out of hours dr today depending on how she goes.

she doesnt seem ill, well she has seemed fine so far this morning and slept ok but now is grizzly :(

4madboys · 26/06/2011 09:44

glad william is seeming better :)

bunnygirl80 · 26/06/2011 12:07

4mad the wanting a bottle then crying when drinking was exactly what William did when his ears were hurting so maybe it's something like that which is bothering her. He would open his mouth for it but then pull it out and push it away after only a few sucks. He was fussy with his solids too - he'd sit in his highchair and be all excited at the prospect of dinner, then get really upset after a couple of mouthfuls.

He was actually slightly less fussy eating/drinking cold things straight from the fridge - I don't know if that helped ease the pain a little bit for him. Don't know if offering her fridge cold bottles is worth a try?

Hope you manage to get her drinking something soon Smile

4madboys · 26/06/2011 12:27

thanks bunny, did he seem ill, as she doesnt seem particularly unwell in herself, still getting lots of smiles etc but she is wanting her dummy and usually only has it when sleeping.

she has just woken after only a 40min nap, usually has 2hrs...

i will try the milk cooler and see if that helps, tho tbh she does usually like it quite warm.

bunnygirl80 · 26/06/2011 12:47

4mad - he seemed happy enough, but just a bit snotty when he started refusing his bottles. I think he was probably refusing his milk for a couple of days before he started to appear poorly, and even then he was really only unsettled at night.

4madboys · 26/06/2011 13:09

ah really! cos i thought that as she didnt seem poorly the dr is going to think i am a loon when i take her tomorrow! but i will INSIST they check her ears, throat, mouth etc, cos there must be something up!

4madboys · 26/06/2011 13:11

does anyone know if there is a minimum amount a baby should have to stop them getting dehydrated etc?

that is my main concern as its hot here today, i have her in a vest and nappy, and she is still having wet nappies, so that is good.

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 27/06/2011 19:34

4mad mo idea about the water, Finn seems to only take about 3-4 ozs through the day but i offer it regularly and has lots of wet nappies.
I feel your pain re lack of milk, he has eaten a grand total of 15 oz since 7pm last night. Ooh and mustn't forget half a strawberry! Think in his caae it's the neat.
How is
Merryn today? X

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 27/06/2011 19:48

Ugh my post full of typos, you get the gist

4madboys · 27/06/2011 20:15

well the dr says she is fine! and she has had 17-18oz today and been drinking water from a cup, only little sips tho.

she had two ice cubes of fruit at lunch, i gave pear as i thought that is more liquid iykwim? and then three ice cubes for dinner! the first time she has had dinner and she was happy to eat it so thats good, going to do dinner for a few days as well as lunch and then at the end of the week start her with bfast as well, just dont want to overload her with too much food too soon.

hv coming on wed.

tbh she seems ok, bit grizzly but that could be the heat, oh and i have given her her milk cooler than usual, she normally likes it warmer than she should have it! and she has taken it a bit better, so maybe its a combination of teething/heat? it doesnt help that she will only sleep swadddled, she is still just in a vest and nappy and then swaddled in thin muslin and looks hot! but she is going off to sleep fine, but a bit restless in her sleep but tbh we all are in this heat!

we are meant to get a thunderstorm tonight, i really hope we do!

hope fin is back to his usual eating/drinking self soon, its so worrying isnt it!

bunnygirl80 · 28/06/2011 04:07

4mad glad to hear the dr thinks Merryn's ok. I'm sure if she's fit and well then she'll be pretty good at regulating her milk/food intake so she's getting enough.

William would only sleep swaddled during our summer, and at one point it was about 35degrees in the bedroom and I still couldn't persuade him to go to sleep without being wrapped. I ended up putting him down swaddled, waiting until he was fast asleep and then unwrapping him and just leaving him lying on the muslin. If he woke I'd just rewrap it around his arms until he went back to sleep and then unwrap again. I think that worked well for us because he was kind of transitioning to not being swaddled anyway - he was into sleeping bags a couple of weeks after our heatwave. He just wanted his arms restraining so he didn't hit himself in the face repeatedly while he drifted off, but was happy enough sleeping with them out. Given the length of the average British summer you'll have just figured out how to keep her cool and you'll be switching the heating on again Grin

After spending the weekend only able to sleep upright on someone's chest, William has decided that's how he's going to continue sleeping from now on....not that I blame him as I know babies prefer to sleep close to their parents, but I would love to get a good night's sleep lying in my own bed. We've had a discussion this morning about how he's going to sleep in his cot again now, and will only feed once at night. He laughed at the end of my explaination of what's going to happen, so I assume that means he's going to carry on doing things his way rather than mine Grin

Fenouille · 28/06/2011 17:44

Sounds like things are going in the right direction for Merryn 4mad :)

With regards to water I mainly offer it at meal times although if it's particularly warm and humid I'll offer him some every time I have a drink. He never seems to take that much though.

Regarding the pinching, I'm shuddering at the thought of the grabbing of a lip piercing Shock We've got a glasses grabber though and I now spend most of the day with grubby finger prints on my lenses

Bunny ooh ooh here's a chance for me to pass on my patented "baby booster" pep talk system Grin I give Norry one before bed every night and he laughs in the face of my optimism every single time. I can explain it to you in 6259 daily emails for the very reasonable price of $50. I'm tellin' ya, we should do a joint tour Grin And Norry's self settling again oh fickle hand of fate so your sleep guru status still stands.

4madboys · 29/06/2011 09:48

well feeding still tits up! refused 11pm and 5am feed, offered her milk at 7:30am and she had 4oz in a fashion...

so new plan

milk at 7am then bfast, then milk and lunch at 12, then milk at 4am then dinner at 5:30 then milk before bed at 7:30 then no milk in the night unless she wakes and wont settle with dummy.

so thats four offerings a day, if she has 4oz each time that is 16oz and then 2oz in bfast and a bit of yogurt and that will be fine, that is my plan, lets see if merryn plays ball!

oh and we had a crap night last night, awake at 4am, and 5am and started the day at 6am, yawn... esp as i took merryn up to bed at 11:30 and couldnt get to sleep myself till 1am ffs!

bunnygirl80 · 29/06/2011 10:24

fen I might have to subscribe to your daily email service after the pep talk failed dismally....he woke up not once, not twice, but 6 times last night, and because I had to work today I took the path of least resistance and fed him back to sleep each time [slaps self on wrist]

4mad hope your plan works. Maybe she's just trying to let you know she doesn't need to feed in the night any more. I can beat your crap night - we were up at 11pm, 1am, 2am, 4am, 5:30am, then I had to get up for work at 6:30am. Of course by then William was sleeping peacfully and I had to wake him before I left at 7:30 [grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr]

DH had his first experience as a stay at home dad today - William's eyes were still a bit gunky so we kept him home again, and DH looked after him all day. I came home to find them both still alive so I was quite impressed. Although he apparently found keeping William out of mischief too much hassle, so he put him in a large cardboard box with some toys Hmm Actually I'm just Envy that I didn't think of that plan myself Grin

Fenouille · 29/06/2011 10:46

What a night bunny and 4mad :( I feel your pain although Norry's back to normal sleeping now. I must admit that on work nights I do whatever necessary to get N back to sleep asap. And we almost always have to wake him up Mon-Fri when at the weekend he's up and ready to go at 7 am

On the plus side I got Dad to feed N this morning so I could eat in peace. He seemed a bit surprised by the idea that he could just get N something to eat if he was complaining! Mum spent the whole time telling him to do it differently Grin Don't know if I should worry about them baby-sitting on Saturday or not Confused

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 29/06/2011 11:07

sympathies to 4mad and bunny with sleep deprivation
Just weighed Finn as have realised he can now sit on our bathroom digital scales, and he is now 19lb 8oz. According to baby centre this is between 50-75 centile ( nearer 75th i guess) for 7 month old boy and he is 7 months today. Why then does everyone keep telling me how big/ heavy he is
I mean sure he is bigger than average, but not a giant or is he? Confused

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 29/06/2011 11:09

As in someone with teenage children told me he was the heaviest baby he has ever held?

bunnygirl80 · 29/06/2011 11:43

Pics of William in his box now on FB in case you want an idea of an appropriate size Grin

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 29/06/2011 13:19

I will check them out. All been a little manic in the last hour. Noticed
Finn was hot when i got him up this morning but seemed fine. Took his temp about 11.30 and it was 39.4. Stripped him off and noticec a crop of spots, went to docs ( nurse squeezed me in) and he has chicken pox! :-( poor little mite. Don't know where he has got them from as only little ones he has mixed with in last week are his 2 and 11 yr old aunties who are fine.
He is a little grouchy now.
I haven't had the pox so await my plague!
Gutted tho as has lovely trip to london planned for this pm and eve which i have had to cancel. Dp is still going Hmm

4madboys · 29/06/2011 14:09

oh no poor Finn :( hope he isnt too bad with it, i recomend using the aqeous cream with calomine lotion added, its easier to put on than the lotion!

i had merryn weighed at 6mth and she was 18lb 7oz, so iw ould guess she is 19lb something now! she is big but not huge. she is long tho, but has mega chunky things, new pic on fb :)

love the pics of will in the box bunny!

and lets hope these babies start sleeping better!

merryn is on the 75th percentil weight wise for a girl but the 99th lengthwise, but to me she seemed dinky as my boys were all about 18lb at 3mths old!

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 29/06/2011 14:15

Thanks, that is what I sent dp out for as nurse also recommended as he hasa ezcema, but dp has returned with plain calomine. Will try again tomorrow. Don't think they are itchy yet. At least I know why he wasn't eating. Will just make sure he gets lots of fluids.
Dp is off out now. Had such a nice night planned, drinks at tower 42 then a design show

4madboys · 29/06/2011 15:32

iddoany, if you cant find it, my local chemist sells it, i could get some and stick it in the post, if i did that tomorrow morning you should have it by fri?

shame about your night out, i am so sad that i am looking forward to getting an early night tongiht, merryn has always had a dream feed at about 11:30ish so i just used to stay up for that, she has refused it for 4nights now and her 5am feed, so i amlooking forward to getting to bed by 10pm and NOT having to get up and do a night feed Grin i will take a bottle, powder and flask of hot water up just incase, but i cant see her wanting a feed! ooh the excitement, i will still be awake to stick dummy in i am betting but i dont have to get up to do that! Grin

IdDoAndyMurrayInAHurry · 29/06/2011 15:41

Ooh fingers crossed. Enjoy it.
Thanks for the kind offer, but think we should be able to get it, just think dp didn't read past calomine lotion on my list.
I have 4 spots on my chest/torso

4madboys · 29/06/2011 16:15

on no iddoandy :( i hope you dont get it too badly!

4madboys · 30/06/2011 19:59

how are you iddoandy? hope you and finn arent too poorly?

well day two of merryns new routine, she had milk at 7:30 ish and after 12hrs without milk was she starving..........umm nope, 100mls! then some porridge with fruit.

she went down for a nap at 10:30 slept till 12:30 then had 6oz! and 3 cubes of food and some yog and fruit.

afternoon we went to the park then she napped from 3:30 till 4:45 and then at 5 had 6oz of milk! and then her dinner.

then at 7:30 she had 130mls and has now gone down to sleep for the night! she has been pretty happy all day and the feeding times actually fit in better with life tbh, although i will have to get up earlier in the mornings so i can get myself showered and dressed before i feed her and then sort boys for school run, but thats ok.

anyhow i stayed up far too late last night and as a result am knackered so bed early tonight and no night feeds! tho will still take flask, powder etc upstairs just incase!
