OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

YAY new thread!!

FEN i think like hmmsleep said the incubation period is 10-14days!

re the impetigo, ds1 got that as a baby and like your ds hmmsleep it took two lots of antibiotics and lots of cream to get it to go away, it was a PITA and yes it is highly contagious, i remember giong to a toddler group and a mum bringing her little boy that had it very badly, (this was after my ds had got rid of his) and i was Shock Angry as it is easy to catch adn particularly if you have eczema or any other skin condition it can be a nightmare and my gp said no baby groups, or nursery etc whilst he had it, which was a total pain as i was studying for my degree at the time.

bunny hope you find some good clothes, for boys i would recomend h&m or hennes, they do lovely bits and saisburys the supermarket also had nice boys clothes the other day. mothercare is pricey for clothes i would say. boots is another good place to shop and often has offers on. or if you can find a tk max they sometimes have nice bits in. oh mackays or m&co as its called now i think? is another place good for baby clothes, my boys have always had loads from there courtesy of my mil who has one on her high st. and pumpkin patch do some cute stuff and if you catch them when they have a sale they are reasonably priced :)

miss merryn has suddlenly started to get her balance and will sit for a min or two! literally since yesterday!! she was sitting loads at toddlers this morning i was very impressed, i just kept a hand close to help her re balance if needed but she sat really well, tho tends to slump forwards if she is tired or wants to eat her feet Hmm the poor thing is all full of phlegm tho and quite chesty, the dr says she is ok as i took her to get her checked as she had a horrible wheez.

i mentioned her small milk intake and the dr said ' well is she filling up on solids or baby juice' i was like umm NO she is only just 5 mths and doesnt have anything other than formula, she was the suprised at how big she was on her milk alone but said she is obviously fit and healthy so not to worry :) tho when she only has 20oz over a day that is easier said than done! i do wonder how i will get formula into her once she is on solids? maybe she will still want her milk but i may find she reduced her milk intake but i know lots of other babies who have doen that and i know they are 'meant' to still have 20oz a day until they are one, i suspect that merryn may not, but as long as she is as happy adn content as she is i will just see how she goes and try and make milky puddings etc if i need to. tho why i am even thinking about it now when i have another month till she starts solids........

hmmSleep · 06/05/2011 14:20

Talking of clothes I've got quite a few bits from here polarnopyret.co.uk/

They belonged to Dd1 and five years on still look like new, really good quality, comfy and practical.

Right. I am posting now and will try to more part of this thread! :)

4madboys · 06/05/2011 15:05

ooh i LOVE POP clothes but they are pricey compared to others, they do last tho and are easy to sell on via ebay etc!

YAY wallace come and tell us how you are getting on :)

hmmSleep · 06/05/2011 17:17

Lovely pic Wallace!

4madboys, I actually bought most of mine off ebay in the first place, either that or in the sales as I agree a bit pricey, but I am tempted by this with the green leggings!

OP posts:
4madboys · 06/05/2011 17:28

ooh that is CUTE, i love the fact that its 'girly' but not pink and i REALLY like those green leggings, i think its nice you can have her wear it as a dress with tights or the leggings and she gets bigger it becomes a t-shirt and in chillier weather you can layer it with a long sleeved vest, endless possibilities!

i always check out the sales of POP but i may have a look on ebay now...

SGJ · 06/05/2011 17:54

Yay, I feel special! Won't lose this thread, will I?!

Oooh just looked at that website, what lovely stuff... oh dear! And what with the Boden catalogue sitting on the table (so very upper middle class, what), fear I may be splashing out a bit!

Re: impetigo watch, all clear so far although Jessica does often get spots so I'm trying not to obsess too much... Uurgh...

Fenouille · 06/05/2011 18:40

I was also going to recommend h&m for boys clothes bunny but those POP clothes are lovely, so go there instead Grin I will also investigate ebay, we should be careful we don't end up all bidding against each other!

I am really Shock about all these people taking highly infectious babies out and about. How selfish can you be? Fingers crossed for you and Lottie too hmm I'm am thinking though that a better title would have been "Nov 2010 - A Pox Be Upon Your House" Grin

Am I the only one confused by hmm being the new thread starter? I've got used to bunny's Australian accent stories about Will Down Under and keep getting confused that she's now started talking about her DD!

4madboys · 06/05/2011 19:00

oh yes boden clothes are lovely, it was my birthday in jan and i spent MY birthday money on four outfits from boden for merryn........ Hmm but they are CUTE, i got them 6-12mths, so they are for summer but she is wearing the dungarees already (if you have the catalogue they are the ones with apples on!) and i also got the other dungarees that are blue with little white flowers and a dress and pants set anda little top and shorts type set. cute cute cute, infact i may put her in them this weekend if the weather stays nice Grin

POP clothes are lovely, merryn doesnt need anything at the moment but i am thinking i may invest in a few of their bits for her autum/winter wardrobe Blush i put more thought into dressing her than i do myself...... seriously ican officially say after dressing four boys that dressing a girl is FAB!! i am sure it woudl be the same if it were the other way round? its the novelty factor i think?

fingers crossed no babies catch any lurgies xxxx

4madboys · 06/05/2011 19:11

well on the basis that merryn is bigger than most of the baby girls, i can buy stuff and if i want to sell it on i know where to mention it Grin

hmmSleep · 06/05/2011 19:32

We've got those apple and daisy dungarees 4mad! They are super cute, I think if you look at my Easter photos on fb Lottie's wearing the daisy ones. I initially ordered the 3-6 months which were tiny, the 6-12 fit perfectly. Like you my own wardrobe gets a bit neglected!

I was chatting to a mum in the playground at school pick up today, she has a little baby girl 2 days younger than Lottie. The baby was waving and clapping on demand Shock. I obviously ran home feeling most inferior to get Lottie in training, but she just growled at me (she roars like a lion) and continued chewing on Sophie giraffe Hmm.

Fenouille · 06/05/2011 20:56

Haha we were out with friends last weekend who, when waving goodbye to us exclaimed, "Look, Norry's waving at us!" I spun around quickly trying to catch our wunderkind him at it just to find him waving his arms about as usual he is in perpetual motion this child Hmm Well, they were impressed anyway, so are you sure it wasn't that hmm?

Like the idea of a baby roar though mine just snuffles

Wallace · 06/05/2011 21:04

Love the POP clothes. :)

I have a friend with a dd exactly a month older than H (he is 18th Nov) and she apparently can say cat, dog, mum and dad. And I though H was quite vocal having been babbling for two months already!

hmmSleep · 06/05/2011 21:31

OMG Wallace! Lottie was born 19th October so would be the same age as that baby (must keep telling myself that roaring can be a very handy skill).

Fen, she was definitely waving, the Mum would say 'wave bye bye', and she would wave Shock, I told her to stop showing off (she's lovely really Smile).

Dd1 was always a bit advanced for her age, but I think Lottie is taking after ds who, erm, isn't Grin. I went into pre-school yesterday to collect him and they were doing his assessment (he starts school in September, youngest in his year). They asked me if he recognised numbers as he'd coincidently got a few correct, had to admit that I'm not entirely sure he knows what a number is! I was reassured that so long as he can go to the loo and dress himself he'll be fine Hmm.

OP posts:
Wallace · 07/05/2011 05:56

hmm - my friend's dd is 19th October too. My friend says all hers have been v early talkers. Roaring is v useful skill I think Grin! H is very noisy and squealy. hence why I am posting this time of morn...

How old is your ds? Mine ds2 starts school in August (he will be just 5) and if we were in England I think he would have been the same with starting at just 4.

Fenouille · 07/05/2011 18:02

We just took Norry over to our friends' house for lunch to meet their little girl (adopted a fortnight ago). She's absolutely adorable, held Norry's hand the whole time and then we played cars together (I showed her how to launch them into the air :) ). Hopefully he won't give her chickenpox Blush - the parents said it was OK to bring him, we didn't just turn up without telling them. She doesn't speak French yet but she seems to understand pretty well. It's amazing how quickly children pick things up (she's 4).

Hope you're all having nice weekends too.

Wallace · 07/05/2011 20:01

Aw how sweet, Fen :)

Started weaning H today. He is only 24 weeks but has been interested in food for ages. We were having Roast chicken so I gave him a bit of chicken and a few potatoes to suck - he loved it Grin

hmmSleep · 07/05/2011 21:08

My Ds is 3 Wallace, 4 at the end of August. Both Dd1 and Ds were born in Edinburgh so like you we thought he'd have another year yet, he seems so little still!

OP posts:
Wallace · 07/05/2011 21:26

Aw, I cannot imagine my ds2 starting last year. It is only in the last few months my ds has become interested in numbers, so it will come :)

Fenouille · 07/05/2011 21:45

Not surprised he loved it Wallace, it sounds yummy :)

Wallace · 07/05/2011 21:49

It was Grin I'm really not a great cook, but I can do a good roast Grin

I do love BLW, ds2 really was eating steak and chips at 6 months old.

4madboys · 08/05/2011 13:34

waving babies Shock merryn will wave, when i take her hand and wave it for her Grin

lol that you have the same clothes hmmsleep, you obviously have supremely good taste in baby clothes Grin

and re starting school at just four i have two summer born (my eldest two boys, one july and one end of aug) but we home schooled until they were 6 and 9 yrs old and then they just went into the right academic year and got on fine, one of the reasons we did home school was precisely because i think 4 is too young to start school, esp for boys! ds3 is my first to go to school at the 'right' time but he is dec born so started in reception at almost 5 yrs and went part time till easter and then full time and got on just fine (we are lucky to have a great primary who are flexible with regards to going part time etc) my ds4 is just three so has another year yet, tbh with regards to numbers, counting etc he is fab and knows all his colours BUT i cant get the little swine out of nappies! so he may be bright with regards his 'knowledge and vocab' but he cant do a full day at pre-school/playgroup until i get him out of nappies, grrrr. oh and i realised the other day i was STILL giving him a tommee tippee sippy cup with lid Shock so stopped that as he is more than capable of drinknig from a regular cup. and at his two year check by the HV he was getting himself dressed, only he seems to have regressed or else i have been a mug and i keep doing it all for him..... its just quicker and easier.

they ALL get there eventually anyway, so [shrugs]

hmmsleep my dp may hate you tho, as i am loving that retro range pop do and i a may end up spending a little too much.....

CardiCorgi · 08/05/2011 16:41

Hello, found you all!
We have the boden dungareess too, but they are the spotty ones bought in last year's sale. So cute. I was also thinking of buying the apple ones but DH went on a bit of a shopping spree so we have plenty of clothes really. I'm still using babygros and rompers a lot too as they are practical.
I have one rather whiny baby right now which is most unlike her, but she has a cold and so do I. This may be connected with starting nursery last week; I certainly don't know why I bother sterilising everything at home any more when the children are sharing their germs so readily.

Has anyone here had any problems moving from bf to mixed feeding? I could express milk to give to the nursery but to be quite honest, I am so fed up of pumping at my desk I would rather not do it any more. I'm still going to bf when we're home. A is also happily chomping on purees and managed rather lumpy mashed banana today which is good.

Wallace · 08/05/2011 20:53

Very true about germs, corgi! Can't help about mixed feeding but certainly sounds doable :)

4 mad - like me, you must find that the more kids you have how very very different their development can be!.
