OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

Not at all! All Welcome :)

Fenouille · 17/05/2011 22:25

Congrats on the hot shower 4mad Perhaps our next thread should be named "Nov 2010, the water babies" Grin Anyone else for bathroom/plumbing problems? Flaurenoko, you have been warned! A water leak or bathroom explosion is practically guaranteed ;)

Right, Norry's had his 11pm crisis, time for bed before he has his next one...

Fenouille · 18/05/2011 06:10

4mad I hope Merryn got a better night's sleep - she's not sickening for something is she? I hear it's the chickenpox season... Grin Norry had a very bad night. Up at 11, 1.45 and then 4-6.30. He finally fell asleep again just as it was time for me to get up. I've left him snoring with DH but I'm going to need more than my decaf tea to get me going this morning

We've also finally moved him out of the amby and into his cot this week. He's now discovered that he can roll over in the night, but then gets stuck face down and cries for us to turn him back over Hmm I hope he's going to stop that soon.

Right, better finish my Brew and have a shower. Have a nice day all of you :)

CardiCorgi · 18/05/2011 08:29

Sympathies to those with ill babies. What a shame about your trip Fenouille, have you made it clear what sort of presents you expect?
DH was off on a business trip last week and I have to say it was quite a lot of work doing everything one my own - just no possibility to say "right, you take over for ten minutes while I do something else". He did brave both a fabric shop and a make-up counter on my behalf which was lovely of him, but I had given pretty clear instructions that he was not to come back empty handed.

With the heart valves, one idea of growing your own is that something like a pig or cow heart valve is taken, all of the cellular material is removed to leave a scaffold made of collagen, then the patient's own cells are used to regrow the tissue. It is an interesting field and there are plenty of other ideas in the works. I hope your son carries on doing well with his own valve Ebb. One of mine is a little leaky, but so far all I need it to have it monitored every couple of years.

hmmSleep · 18/05/2011 09:14

Welcome flaurenoko, of course you can join in, so long as you had a baby in Novemeber . . . or October . . . or December Hmm Grin.

Very annoying about having to cancel your trip Fen, and that your Dh still gets to go, and that you only got dates as a gift Confused (are you particularly partial to the odd date?).

I was an evil Mum last night. Lottie had been sleeping from 7pm til 4am for nearly a week, then last night decided to wake at 10.30. I went in and cuddled her, offered water but put her back without breastfeeding. Well, she was not happy! I stood my ground though as she's 7 months now and I feel one night feed should be plenty. So, it took 2 hours to settle her and she then didn't wake until 6am, which means she didn't have a night feed at all. I felt really guilty but she was happy and smiley this morning and didn't even seem overly hungry, so I'm going to persist if it happens again.

My back is worse today so Dh has had to take the day off work to help, he had to pretty much carry me downstairs this morning as it had completely seized up over night (Karma for not getting up to feed Lottie) and ds is off playgroup with croup. I never had back trouble prior to having children, reminds me why I'm stopping at 3!

Just posting quickly to mark my place!!

fen what a shame that Norry ended up with the pox - hope he's feeling better soon

We made it back to the UK in one piece - William was very good on the flight and he's loving all the attention. We're having a major sleep regression though, as I think he's about to crawl. He keeps rolling in the night and dragging himself along the cot then crying to be rescued.

Will try and check in again soon Smile

hmmSleep · 18/05/2011 09:57

Glad the flight went well bunny, must be great showing William off to all your UK friends and family Smile.

Hello everyone! Welcome flaurenoko! I love hearing about all the babies and really will post again properly soon. [waves frantically and goes back to ordering the shopping before R wakes up...]

4madboys · 18/05/2011 12:56

hello flaurenko!

i shall ignore your comments about a sleeping baby! but have you tried black out blinds? they really do help!

i am all Grin as merryns high chair has arrived so we shall be able to start weaning in a few weeks!!

so tell us about your little one flaurenko, how big was he born and how big now? my little dd was born on the 5th dec but was due on the 28th nov! she is quite a big little girl, 17lb and very long, but still diddy compared to her FOUR big brothers (hence my name) she was our suprise, in more ways than one when she turned out to be a girl!

glad your flight went well bunny, sorry to hear about the sleep regression, but if its any conselation we are going through the same thing.

whereabout are you flaurenko btw, you may be near one of us and those of us local to each other do meet up sometimes! i am in norwich :)

Wallace · 18/05/2011 14:37

Well done 4mad in getting a highchair - H eats his meals in a bumbo with a tray in the middle of the dining table.

flaurenko - Glad to hear you are enjoying your baby. My November baby Hamish was born 18th November and has 2 big brothers and a big sister. No idea what he weighs as he hasn't been weighed since he was 7 weeks old. He has deliciously chunky thighs though!

Lainey1981 · 18/05/2011 15:13

Hi all.
Welcome flaurenoko my ds Finn was born on 29th Nov. Roughly where are you based?

bunny glad the flight with William went well. Did you have a good trip?

4mad glad your shower is all fixed. Exciting re the highchair, when do you think you might start trying food with Merryn?
finn is doing well with the eating, despite the 2 days off. He wolfed down sweet potato and pear (separately) approx 1oz of each at lunch. He seems pretty receptive to new tastes, and had a good old munch of some avocado i was eating yesterday.
Constipation seems to have abated but now on to poo every other day, which invariably shoots up the back. So glad he can sit up for that makes it a lot easier to clean.
Obv i wasn't referring to my constipation above!
umf hellloooo long time no post, hope all is well.
hmm hope your back is better soon. Well done on the tough love with Lottie re feeding.
Was up at least 5 times with F last night, not sure what was going on. He wasn't crying, just waking up and turning his bloody winnie the pooh projector thing on. All this after i was so pleased to have got him to bed at 8 by not allowing his late nap. I stuck him in the bath instead.
Off to visit a nursery tomorrow. All seems a bit scary and soon
Better go, as need to get to post office to finally post my provisional driving license app. It's getting embarassing now and running out of excuses

Hullo all! waves frantically remember me?
Been reading all the posts but not posted in ages!

Fen, hope the chx pox goes away soon! I rem when my sis got it at 9yo she had less than 10 spots so we called it duckpox.

Flau, k loved avo when I fed her pieces offmy salad but didn't want any when I sliced some up n put in her bowl.

Ebb, 4mad, K had a few SHOCKERS of a night sleep last week. Woke up every 2h crying n refused to go back to sleep. Her tummy was quite hard to the touch so I figured she was uncomfortable n had tummy pains (mebbe cos of new diet?). Usu after a good fart/burp she'd eventually resettle to sleep. I was going mental. Thankfully she's gone back to her normal sleep of just 1 night waking/feed.

K is just past 6m n started solids a few weeks back w mixed success. Sort of doing a mix of blw n purees. Some days she will wolf down 1oz of puree/baby cereal other days she will spit every spoonful out. Gave her a small slice of naan bread when we were out at an Indian resto n she happily chomped down a good 2-3in of it! Sucked out the juice n pulp of a blueberry but cldnt/didn't know to spit or swallow the skin so just whinged n cried with her mouth closed till I eventually saw it n dug it out. Silly goose.

Feel like such a bad mom today cos got her dressed to go out, turned to get her shoes n SHE FELL OFF THE CHANGE TABLE!! still nt sure how that happened. She went from lying on her back on the table to face down on the floor! Thankfully she was more stunned n shocked than hurt. I had visions of lifting her off the floor n seeing a pool of blood or her breaking a few ribs. She managed to cushion her fall on arms n legs n not her face. Phew. Having said that, I think I spot a bruise developing on her cheek. Bad bad mommy. DH will not be pleased that his DD got injured under mommys watch.

Lots of sitting up, rolling n bum shaking. Have been warned that bum shaking precedes crawling. Yikes!!

Wallace · 19/05/2011 14:29

Hi Vix - you are not the first on this thread to have a bump - don't worry :)

flaurenoko - give some of that hair here - H isn't blessed in that department. He does have hair but it is very very blond so not noticeable.

Vix7 · 19/05/2011 14:41

Wallace, yeah i know she'll have more bumps and bruises as she grows. it was the shock of seeing her on the floor as the fall as from a fair height (adult waist height). the pain of seeing the bruise on her cheek and knowing that if she had fallen wrongly she could have been more severely injured.

bunnygirl80 · 19/05/2011 17:01

flaurenoko we live in Sydney, so we flew 17hrs, then stopped for 2hrs, then flew another 7 Shock I doubt we'll be doing it again in a hurry.

We have a gro anywhere blackout blind (think it only cost about 20pounds off amazon) and it's fab. It attaches to the window with suction pads so you can take it on/off and move it with you anytime you like. It certainly helped William over his jetlag

vix it must have been a shock to see her fall. She's definitely not the first baby to have done it though

hmm I'm enjoying seeing all my friends/family, but am now completely convinced we made the right decision to move. I now have a long list of gripes about the UK, the main one being the sheer number of people here who have felt the need to inform me that now Will is 6 mo I really should have stopped BFing as it's just plain wrong to carry on Angry

Very exciting day today - William managed to get up onto his hands and knees and move forwards about 5cms before collapsing. Perhaps I'm being overambitious to declare that he can crawl, but he's clearly not far off Grin

4madboys · 19/05/2011 17:28

i second bunny girl on getting blackouts flaurenko, even if you just get some black out material and peg it onto the curtains (what we do when away) its cheap enough from john lewis or any material place and it makes all the difference!

vix hope you have recovered from the shock of dd falling, i bet you will need a drink this evening when she is in bed!

re weaning merryn will be 6mths on 5th june so i will start then, dont want to start before then as a, family history of allergies, i have eczema, asthma and hayfever and b, we are away at the end of may for a wedding and i dont want to be faffing around with food then! i will be doing amix of blw and purees as well and just see how she gets on, which she prefers, she is def looking very interested when we are eating now and is almost sitting unaided, can do it for a few mins, so she is ready pretty much :)

sleep been a bit better last night and naps better today, she has just been happier today, so whatever was bothering obviously isnt?!

flaurenko, i often get the train to london so next time i do i will give you a shout and we could meet for coffee if you like?

oh and having five kids is fun, but noisy! Grin

Wallace · 19/05/2011 20:47

bunny - crawling Shock!!!!!Grin

Fenouille · 19/05/2011 21:40

Hi Corgi, I think I need to be more precise in my gift requests! I was also amazed at how much work it was looking after Norry alone. Just getting out of the house in the morning - there was absolutely no margin and I was 15 minutes late to the CM every morning should've got up earlier

Shock Vix That must have been pretty frightening.

Thanks to all of those of you who held my hand on fb last night. Just watching Norry's temperature going up and up on the thermometer was really scary (and why does this sort of thing always happen at night?) Anyway, I think he's over the worst now and he spent a pretty cheerful day with my DPIL and was VERY bouncy when we came home. He's still very spotty and itchy though so I hope the tub of cream my Mum's sending comes soon!

SGJ · 20/05/2011 00:14

Welcome Flaurenoko! And evening all those of you with babies stressing you out - rolling off tables, getting the pox, sleeping on tummies... Hope you are all doing ok.

Yesterday Jessica learnt a new skill - blowing raspberries - apparently it's a skill they learn to help them prepare to talk, called 'bilabial trilling', or so my speech therapist friend tells me! It's completely inappropriate when out in public but of course I find it adorable, even when she's basically spitting in my face! She also rolled from front to back (has previously only gone t'other way) and also started shaking playing with toys properly today (instead of just gumming them), amd is getting v good at sitting, so have had a very lovely couple of days. Am fully prepared for karmic retribution style sleepless nights to balance it all out! Night all! Smile

hmmSleep · 20/05/2011 10:46

SGJ, Lottie blows raspberries, on my breast when she should be feeding, now that is inappropriate when out in public!

OP posts:
4madboys · 20/05/2011 17:16

awww at all these development, sitting, crawling and raspberries Grin

have had a better day with merryn today, not quite as grumpy and she has gone down for her naps fine without mehaving to rock her etc, and i can def see her bottom two teeth just under her gums so i think its that that is bothering her, have been giving her nelsons teething granuals so maybe that is helping? and she has been gnawing on a few toys non stop today!

i went out last night Grin had a great night, got merryn down by 7:30 she was a bit fussy but went off in the end, BUT she woke up whilst i was out! hse NEVER wakes in the evening, that is always her best bit of sleep, but my friend just put the dummy in and rocked the pram and she went back off, so pleased with that :)

anyone else with frustrated babies? merryn wants to be sitting or standing all the time, doesnt like the baby gym anymore or the bouncy chair, is happiest int he bumbo as long as its up high on the table or worktop so she can see what is going on, she also seems to get bored at home and is happier when we are out, grinning away at everyone :)
