Just a short post here

PenguinArmy · 10/07/2011 00:11

aren't peppers a fruit? A lot of your post (minus the cravings) sound very familiar rainbow

I was never here [hwink]

rainbowweaver · 10/07/2011 11:02

Ha, just saw your post PA can't not respond to that fruit veg comment Grin you're right! Peppers are a fruit, in the same way that tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and peas are a fruit.... Well technically I suppose that beans and peas are fruit seeds.

Kind of reminds me of another question that also gets me a little perkier. Which came first the chicken or the egg? Obviously the egg came first - as the thing that laid the egg may not have been a chicken in the strictest sense since it mated with something that combined genes with it to produce the first chicken. Sorry, that the geek in me pushing out briefly.... Heh heh.

Love your road tour blog btw, animal count is a great touch! inspiring me to plan to take DD to the beach one weekend ( as a lesser adventurous being, that's about the most exciting I can face ATM with DD!). We currently have a dead rotting pigeon in our garden that I came across after not venturing into the back recesses for a few weeks. Haven't checked on it since, am hopeful the foxes will have eaten it.

rainbowweaver · 10/07/2011 11:12

Conversation between dH and I:

Me: do you think we should clear up that dead pigeon at the back of our garden?

DH: why? It'll go away as a natural part of the cycle.

Me: true, but if it was a dead fox, we 'd clear it away.

DH: if it was a dead fox we'd call the council for advice and they might clear it away.

So pigeon remains, to be cleared away by ants, foxes, cats and whatever else ventures into our garden, and sun and rain of course.

SocietyClowns · 10/07/2011 13:54

rainbow Are you pregnant? (all those cravings...)
We heard strange sound from the chimney one day and dh bravely went to investigate and found a very much alive pigeon just behind the fire grate flap.It must have fallen down the chimney! It promptly panicked at being rescued and flew in his face and then against a few walls, leaving black marks on the walls, and then somewhat dazed made it out of the open front door. Just glad we were there at the time (weekend house) or else the smell would have been unbelievable....
Just hope yours is gone by now...

SocietyClowns · 10/07/2011 14:00

Keep forgetting to update on dd2's finger... It seems to be healing fine and I wonder whether to stop the antibiotic at day 5. Maybe BBB can advise? I thought a 7 day course of Erythromycin was a bit over cautions?

BigBadBear · 10/07/2011 17:04

I'd do the full seven days Soc. Nail and skin infections are difficult to treat because the antibiotic has to get through so much of the body to reach the right area.

SocietyClowns · 10/07/2011 18:34

Thanks BBB much appreciated. I will do that. Smile

SconesForTea · 11/07/2011 13:08

Hi everyone

Good luck today Stangirl! How exciting! Can't wait to see a pic of your LO.

I'm currently on hold to HMRC, have been for 15 mins and counting, they have got my tax wrong AGAIN Angry It is really starting to upset me now.

rainbow I wondered if you may be pg too!

Mous I would find it very difficult to understand or tolerate if my DH was 'made' to stay on site 24H. Also I have every sympathy for you not wanting to drive there and back, especially with two children in the car, I am a scaredy cat but there's no way I'd do that.

DD hates having her nappy changed at the moment. Sometimes she can be distracted with a toy or book, sometimes I just have to hold her down with brute force and put up with the screams Confused

StoneBaby · 11/07/2011 18:36

mous you're okay?

stan I hope everything went well and that you and your little boy are okay.

DS is in a very chatty mood at the moment, speaking his own language but hopefully it's a good training

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 11/07/2011 18:45

stan thinking of you
SB thanks I am fine, but melting (in the middle of a heat wave). DH is a bit more upbeat in the phone too. DD2 is insane! And talking a lot in her own language too, she looks convinced that we can understand though as she is expecting answers and interactions Grin.

Wondering if I should go to the 14th of july party at the embassy alone? in case DH can't come back. I have a bleu dress, a babysitter and the invite, I lack courage or a partner/friends... Confused.

BBB how was the last referral?

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 11/07/2011 18:48

scone Thank! I don't have a car anyway I have my licence but there is no way I would drive either... I have used my licence once for 10 min. at least 15 years ago now, it is the first time in my life that I was thinking I should have driven, but that would have been insane with 2 girls on romanian roads and heat waves

StoneBaby · 11/07/2011 18:54

Go by yourself mous just a small glass of bacardi before you go will give you the courage you need! Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 11/07/2011 18:59

It is very tempting to go as it was great last year. Madame the ambassador is called "phillipe" and throw great parties Grin, weird choice for a homophobic country. It is sponsored by bacardi anyway!

StoneBaby · 11/07/2011 19:17

So you have to go!!! Grin at Mme l'ambassadeur!

SocietyClowns · 11/07/2011 20:45

Please go, have some Wine on me and tell us more about Madame!!! Grin

LittlebearH · 11/07/2011 20:56

I have been up since 3am. DD woke again at 3.32am,4.07am (i laid on her floor) she finally went off at 5.15am. Up at 7am. I could not get back to sleep. Just laid there with tears rolling down my face. Have struggled with my mood all day. Had anxiety over nap and meal times although both went fine.

I have finally taken the plunge and emailed a counsellor enquiring about her sessions.

Prays for a sleep through, work tomorrow. :(

SocietyClowns · 11/07/2011 20:58

LBH Sad Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. Things look so much better on a proper night. Keeping my fingers crossed!

SocietyClowns · 11/07/2011 21:12

Stan Hope you are nicely tucked up with you new baby and feeling good Smile

IC How are things with you? If you have them, how does Rosie cope with stairs in your house? Oh, and I am obviously totally up to a meeting in this neck of the woods [waving frantically over the bridge..]

BBB I am in awe of you teaching your four year old to sew, and having the bright idea to use surname only on school uniform labels. I think I can learn a lot from you.... although you may have to start from scratch and show me how to sew on labels Grin. I did the cowardly thing and ordered iron on ones...

stoof are you still lurking, in which case a big hello and how are you, or are you snowed under with work and family life?

PA love your blog updates!! Must say I am very impressed by your itinerary, disregarding the fact you have a toddler with you and are pregnant!! Smile

Well, not much new here. We definitely need a lock on our bedroom door though Blush. dd1 walked in on us this morning Shock(we heard her on time!). Once dd2 can get our of her cot.... Shock
dd2 is totally adorable but quite a handful. She copies so much of what her sister does. Today she managed to use a three wheel scooter by herself briefly with one foot on it and one on the floor Shock before she fell over and got very cross. Well, she has seen dd1 on it enough but still, I was shocked that a 17 mths old would have that much co-ordination. She is also getting a little obsessed with her books. I am very happy she is so keen, but she will now refuse to have her nappy changed in the morning before she has chosen a book she can look at while I change and dress her. This morning she also insisted on taking a book down for breakfast Smile. And she has very definite preferences for bed time books and likes to choose three or four before we sit down with them.
She has been a little bit under the weather the last two days and I am keeping a very close eye on her because my friend's little one has come down with chicken pox. I'd be fine with her getting it over with, but with an incubation of up to three weeks, it could coincide with me taking the girls to see my parents...

SocietyClowns · 11/07/2011 21:24

LeMousquetaireAnonyme There you go, I can copy and paste, if not spell French Grin. Didn't you say you managed to book a holiday this summer? I hope that does not get put on hold because of your dh's work situation Sad. dh was away for two nights and I found it hard, so hats off to you managing on your own with two girls!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/07/2011 21:32

Thinking of you and your LO stan...

Good for you for taking action LBH. I'm so sorry you had a crap night.
It does sound, from what you say, that your own anxiety is making you feel even worse. I'm sending you a big unmumsnetty and I hope your mood lifts soon. Likewise that you have a better night tonight, it helps so much doesn't it? Keep talking to us on here, you know we're always ready to listen.

PA a big WOW at your road trip....! I'm so impressed. I will try and have a proper look at your blog during DD's nap tomorrow.

rainbow - cravings, eh?!

Soc - that's you and me for a meet-up, then! Anyone else?
DD is similar to yours wrt books - I often have to carry her to the changing mat holding whatever book she's stuck into at the time, usually while she protests about it. A lot of her books are getting coated with nappy cream...
Rosie is good at coming downstairs backwards (under supervision) and so far, hasn't attempted to climb more than a couple before voluntarily stopping the ascent. We've put a stairgate at the top, but not the bottom - yet.

mous go, go, go!!!

OP posts:
rainbowweaver · 11/07/2011 22:03

Hah, no pg here unless it's an immaculate conception. (sorry IC Grin) Just plain old standard cravings. Still haven't managed to do the deed :) DH being very patient, but it also seems that men who spend a lot of time with their kids also get rewired so they become more patient and their sex drives reduce. We'll want #2 so planning to get started sometime this year....

LBH sending you happy thoughts

mous if it's good food, go!! Never pass up good food and wine. Yum!

SocietyClowns · 11/07/2011 22:09

May have foiled an attempted opportunistic burglary earlier.... Was tidying up in the kitchen earlier with door and window open and saw a young chap's head bob up over our garden wall twice. When he opened next door's gate (house up for sale and very evidently emplty, and new unlocked metal garden gate) I stepped out of the kitchen and said loudly 'Can I help you?' (Polite, me, eh?). He scarpered very quickly and I shouted after him 'I'm watching you!' (Pathetic, thinly disguised Withnail quote there... Grin). dh thinks I should report it to the police even though no damage was done. Must say I have felt quite jittery since.
