Where did our babies go?!
Anywhere and everywhere, the moments our backs are turned!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bethylou · 15/06/2011 21:26

Waving at you all. I'm afraid I haven't even been reading recently due to work and Take That preparations. Will come back when I've had more than a couple of hours sleep in three days and catch up!

SocietyClowns · 15/06/2011 22:16

beth did you see me wave? I am not far from the stadium... well, give or take two miles, but I can hear things from the back window if the wind is blowing in the right direction and the stadium roof is open Grin

IC like your dd's vocabulary Wink. Most useful. Hope you are okay and not melting too badly in the Spanish summer.

LBH hope you have a better night Smile

PA mous Agree on shoes etc and some odd choices. I had to get plain white trainers for dd1 and they had some in size 18. Very very cute but wondered who on earth buys trainers like that for barely walking babies! Having said that, dd2 is rarely barefoot. This is the UK, so June temperatures can be in single figures... Our tiles downstairs are too cold for her. Similarly, she is never without a nappy, except in the bath. Tiles downstairs too cold and lethal when wet, and I do not fancy wee on our new stair/landing carpet...

BBB sweet of you to say so. I am fine and my cold is slowly clearing which is good news. Apart from that I am finally happy to be a SAHM (after being offered a job and turning it down Hmm) and will stay this way for a little longer. Not a huge amount to report from my life really because I am basically boring Grin. No family, not very sociable... taking and collecting dd1 to/from nursery is about as much interaction as I need most days (is that sad or what?).
Brilliant news on those appts coming through by the way. I'd go to both and see if they have different opinions Smile

SocietyClowns · 15/06/2011 22:18

Oh, and waving at bear and everyone else I've missed... Smile

SocietyClowns · 16/06/2011 07:59

Realised that sounded a bit pathetic... I also see friends about twice a week, so not quite such a hermit... Grin

SconesForTea · 16/06/2011 15:29

Soc can I ask, very interestedly, on the days you are being unsociable Grin are you not bored staying in with DD2? I ask because I was having this conversation with two other mums the other day, I said I have to get out with her every day or I'd go mad, I cannot stand a whole day in the house with her (unless have company). They both looked at me like evil mummy and said they love spending the day in with their DDs...

We had our scan today! All looks fine, the placenta is anterior again which will explain why I'm not feeling much, again. As DH says, we don't make kicky babies. Except this one was wriggling like anything on the scan, so bizarre that I can't feel it Hmm especially as it's about 27cm long now. We didn't find out the sex so will have a lovely surprise come Oct/Nov.

PA Sad for your awful night. Are pg symptoms striking again? My sleep this week has been rubbish every night, last night I couldn't sleep even though I was shattered, which is what I had last pg, drove me mad. I did manage to drop off before 4am though. (Only to be woken by DD numerous times - teething again - who knows?)

bethy what TT preps? We're going too, 1 July, there might be a tube strike apparently! Shock

bc sorry I thought that was very funny about you treading in poo Smile Yuck yuck yuck. So far we've only had wees during nappy off time

LBH how is being with your mum today?

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 16/06/2011 18:06

PA I think we do agree on shoes, in a very confused way Grin

scones I have dogs not DDs. I HAVE to get them out of the house or we will bark and bite each other. Also they don't give me a choice, both of them casually drop their shoes on my lap if we are still in at 8h30 am. Hmm (well DD1 is more lazy now but she did it too)

Sorry for both of you and the night's sleep.

BC Grin

I made a fool of myself today at DD1's final show. I did cry and a few people noticed Blush [crazy old woman emoticon]. That is it, she has graduated from kindergarden!

On a funny notes we had a fit tonight with DD1, because DD2 took a playmobil skateboard, stepped on it and "whizzed" around the flat, resetting it if not on properly Grin (for mental image her foot is about 4 times longer than the board and many time wider)

BBB see emoticon above! I am getting old and listen well. Not an authority at all, still learning, but that is nice of you to say Smile.

PenguinArmy · 16/06/2011 18:53

Was asleep by 1 last night :) DD woke quite a few times, but for some reason it doesn't feel as bad. She didn't get up until 7. Earliest we've had this week is 6.

LittlebearH · 16/06/2011 19:31

Well mum was ok, well sort of. SHe didnt want to talk at first. We agreed to disagree with regards to my brother. I said I dont want to see him for a while. I suggest he goes to his GP to see about being diagnosed (suspected Aspergers) or at least get some help with his temper.

DDs sleep is erractic. She has a cold but is eating like a horse.

I almost wet myself laughing when I collected her from my CM yesterday. When she opened the door, I was greeted by DD wearing purple, kitten heeled dressing up shoes about 20 sizes too big, so half her feet were poking through the front of them. She loves clip clopping about in them apparently. My CM said she had put them away 3 times, but DD kept getting them out.. She did tell me she had been keeping close to her though in case she tripped up.
It was so funny to see.

Scones Glad the scan went well.
pA You ok? Hope not too tired. DD only woke at half midnight and awake for the day at 6am. Not too bad.

She only had 1 nap today. Lunch at 11.45am and she ate loads, made no mess and was flat out by 12.15pm. She woke at 2.10pm. So she has gone straight off tonight.

Fingers x for a good night. (I can hear her snoring through the monitor right now.My Baby Bear!

SocietyClowns · 16/06/2011 20:33

scones I wouldn't get bored at home but dd2 makes it quite clear what she wants, if necessary shoving her shoes in my face and trying to open the front door Grin. We are quite lucky and have a park about 2 minutes away with duck pond etc, and two other parks with large playgrounds within 10 minutes walk away. I go to them quite a lot but won't necessarily speak to anyone... so I can be unsociable even when out Wink. Oh, and dd2 loves going shopping with me and likes to sit in the trolley pointing at things she thinks I should be buying... Hmm

Love the idea of puple kitten heels LBH and your dd using a playmobil skateboard Mous. Our LOs seem to be real characters!!

chinook · 16/06/2011 21:26

Big day in the chinook household today. Dd's first tooth fell out this morning so today I must add tooth fairy to my list of other roles. Hope no costume will be required.....! And in only 10 days we have gone from co-sleeping, breastfeeding, waking every 2 to 3 hour nightmare nights to ds in his cot all night, no bf and pretty much sleeping through. Last night dp had to go up twice early on in the evening and just tell him to lie down, which he did, then he slept until morning. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. I am desperately trying not to be optimistic or excited, but I am that kind of person naturally, so I can't help myself. Of course dp and I felt dreadful this morning after an uninterrupted sleep. Why does that happen??

LBH glad your situation has resolved a bit. I think your approach has been spot on. Must be tricky that you need your mum for childcare so can't be as frank with her as you might like to be.

scones congrats on the scan. I think scans and midwife appointments are the things I feel sad I will not have again. I also have to go out with the dc's every day. My ds is quite erm lively, shall we say, so he needs fresh air and exercise every day, much like a dog, like your dd's mous.

I am going to Take That on 5th July. Have you read in the papers about all the middle aged women misbehaving at the concerts? Sounds like it will be good fun!

bc when you post I always wish I lived a bit nearer London as you sound like you do some really lovely and different things. I know loads of people who live in London but don't seem to make the effort to travel much outside their borough. Seems a shame when there are so many fantastic things to do. Did chuckle at your starfish comment too. Reminded me of last night when I was blowing a raspberry on ds's bottom at bedtime. He chuckled so much he farted in my face. A real hair curler it was too. Boys eh......

PenguinArmy · 16/06/2011 22:37

chinook :) very happy for you, glad we got there roughly together. As long you know rationally it's not going to be that way like IC and even though we've had resettles the last few nights, knowing she has slept through is a massive weight of our shoulders (and the sleeping later)

I sent DH to get DD weighed and she is a whopping (for us) 18lbs 9oz which puts her above the 9th percentile. At one point she was on the 0.4th. It also offsets the guilt I have with her diet but more so the lack of milk

I bet that paper article was about beth Grin

StoneBaby · 16/06/2011 23:33

We're back home. Ferry was only 2 hours late (arriving at 10.30pm instead of 8.30 with a change of ferry in Jersey. Not tgat great with a toddler. I hope DS will sleep fine.

So quickly

PA great news on the weight gain

BBB good to hear you have your appointment. Are you going to attend both?

scones glad to hear the scan went well.

LBH sorry about your problems with your brother and mother. Take care

chinook good news on the weaning / sleeping. Grin at the toothfairy outfit

bethy it's good that you had a night out. You well deserve it

Waves to everybody else

StoneBaby · 17/06/2011 12:27

Morning all

DS decided to wake up at 5am this morning. I managed to get him back to sleep for another hour with us in bed. So up since 6am!
He normally sleeps for 12 hours Hmm

He now can feed himself with a fork and can drink from a cup if supervised. When he sees an animal (real or on tv) he does grrr (fine when it's a tiger or lion but it's odd with cows Grin ) following a visit to a small animal park when away and it was good to show him others species of animal (other than cats and dogs).

He has a new 'word' now: oops! which he uses when we/he drops things.

I must go and try to finish putting away the luggages, food, cases of wine...

SconesForTea · 17/06/2011 19:08

Evening all. I've settled down with a cheeky glass of sherry (1 unit!) because I really, really wanted a drink!

SB how was the holiday? DD is always unsettled for a week a few nights when we come back from staying away anywhere. How is the unpacking going? Worst part of a holiday...

chinook great news on DS sleeping Grin

LBH glad it went ok with your mum. I hope your brother seeks help, but if he doesn't, it's his choice/responsibility and nothing to do with you (I mean for you to get stressed out over - although I would, in your situation, I'm sure).

PA fab that DD is gaining percentiles! And that you're sleeping too.

Mous no school for DD1 for the summer! How will you cope?!

For the past two afternoons, DD has had a long afternoon nap. Yesterday 1hr40 and today an amazing, and unprecedented, 2 hours Shock Shock Shock I didn't know what to do with myself, honestly. Made a cake and cleared up after it. And got it out of the oven, and everything... SO MUCH TIME!!! I am trying not to be too hopeful that a new pattern is forming. It would be too, too good!

LittlebearH · 17/06/2011 19:37

How is the sherry going down?? I have never tried it.

Well just put DD down and all by myself. DP has been at Ascot today with friends and wont be back till 9pm. (reminds self to get spare duvet out for sofa-he will be drunk = snoring)

CM said DD has been clicking about in the dressing up shoes again today Grin She be a natural walking in high heels when she is older..unlike her mum!!

Scones DD has been doing the one big nap in the afternoon now. Her nights are a bit erractic anything between 2 and 5 wakes evry night this week. But am hoping she will settle down soon. She wasnt tired enough at bedtime we found if she slept till near 3pm with naps.

SB DD pouts and goes MMMmmm! when you ask what a cow does. So cute the animal noises. Monkey Ooh ooh is good too!

Thanks all for the support re my family.

PenguinArmy · 17/06/2011 19:46

I've been teaching her to go 'ahhhh' after her drink and to pat her tummy when she has yummy food Grin She also practices jumping most days and she finds it hilarious when we do it. I think both feet have left the ground a few times but wouldn't say they def. jump just yet. We've also realised that she doesn't 'talk' if out of the house, do others do that? I figure it's just a comfort/confidence thing, she always seemed quieter than other babies though.

She woke up a few times again, but oh well. She's still quite grumpy atm, judging by the hand always in her mouth I think it's a combination of teething and still transitioning to one. She can't sleep but is tired. The cries of protest that are coming through now as well, I don't have a strategy for dealing with toddlers, anyone recommend a good book? I'm torn between 'traditonal' parenting but want a more UP approach as our upbringing was too conditional so don't want to fall into that.

StoneBaby · 17/06/2011 20:12

scones the holidays were fab. It was so great to be off the rock. The driving wheel we bought him did take some of the boredom away but some journeys were long so we had to stop frequently. He didn't had any sleeping issues while we were away, only last night but it was because he went to bed 4 hours later than usual. Tonight he went to bed at 6pm and I hope he'll last until 6am (I'm not human before that time Grin )

PA no advice on books but if she was unsettle for the last 2 nights, maybe she was affected by the full moon (I guess it's full moon every where at the same time Blush )

LBH have a wine especially as your DP is out

PenguinArmy · 17/06/2011 20:14

you will have to tell us what you got up on the holiday SB

I'm not analysing her night sleep too much, we've not had bad nights and 2 nights of sleeping through does not make a habit so

LittlebearH · 17/06/2011 20:19

DD has been in bed an hour...still tossing and turning. Has been crying but quiet at mo. Lost count no. of times been in. :(

StoneBaby · 17/06/2011 20:30

We first went to my brother in law (DH's brother) who live by Agen then a few night at my mum's holiday home on the Med where we left DS with my mum. We then went to Manosque where we did Les Gorges du Verdon then back to my mum in Auvergne. (The itinerary looks like this

We haven't down a lot, just walking, enjoy the sea (DS enjoyed playing with the sand), eating (a lot!), animal park. We also went on our way back to Oradour sur Glane which is a French village whose inhabitants were killed by the German after D Day and which has been kept as a memorial.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 18/06/2011 06:58

SB A bit grim for holidaying. Glad you had fun though! Envy at the food and the cases...
PA good with the weight!

Gaaaaahhhh typical, we are invited to have a pool lunch as it is so hot and my period showed up 10 min ago... Which also means I have to have a blood test on monday morning with no baby sitter. Pondering whether to take DD1 to school and go with DD2 or go before school with the 2 and hope that DD1 can look after DD2 without being freaked out by the needles (In my dreams!).
How are they going to get the blood with a wriggly baby on my lap? But then how are they going to react to 2 DDs destroying exploring the room? Confused
I see so many children and babies, you can just put down and they stay put! Shock Why can't I have at least 1 of those?

PenguinArmy · 18/06/2011 07:11

I'll join your rant mous have you seen the ones that sit still on buses Shock strange creatures Grin

StoneBaby · 18/06/2011 08:10

Stay still! Do baby/toddler like this really exist?

mous can't you put DD2 in a pushchair the time of the test? Re. food, DS particularly enjoyed the roast potatoes in duck fat served with confit Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 18/06/2011 09:51

SB It is all about timing (it required a lot of efforts to take the pram in the subway to do the school run, so can't do both at the same time). The blood tests are between 7 and 10, I am back home at 9h them pick up pram and go to the lab it is cutting it short, which means if there is a queue they won't take me.

PA even in the baby carrier in the subway she is trying to climb on the bars/seats/ neighbours or reach the posters or her favourite: the big red button which is above the parents seat (Hmm design flaw!)

SB DD2 loves duck (a rare treat here)

StoneBaby · 18/06/2011 17:53

What a weird weather! We've had a mix a heavy showers and sunshine all day with F4 wind! Where is the summer????
