LittlebearH · 18/06/2011 20:56

Where is IC..?

Crap weather here too.

Had our first two words together today..."Nanny gone"

StoneBaby · 18/06/2011 21:52

I think IC maybe travelling back to the UK? Or she's too busy on the feminist board.

LBH Smile at your DD words

StoneBaby · 19/06/2011 07:41

Where is everybody??

BigBadBear · 19/06/2011 08:23

I'm here!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 19/06/2011 19:01

LOL at too busy on the Feminist board!!

My mum is staying at the moment so I haven't been posting so as not to be anti-social. She's reading at the moment, so I reckon a quick catch up is in order.

I'm glad you had a good hol SB - my Mum doesn't live far from Agen. It's a lovely area.

Yay on the sleeping through, chinook! At last!
And PA I'm sure your DD will soon get into the habit. Teething can totally derail it....

...speaking of which, DD has has a couple of fidgety nights which I had put down to the heat, but last night I'm certain it was teething. Today for the first time ever, she was crying out in pain at times when trying to eat. We've got away with teething quite well until now, but those canines are proving to be little swines coming through.

DD has a rash, but it's very pale and blanches so I suspect it's prickly heat or something as (apart from the teething) she doesn't seem to be otherwise out of sorts. I checked her temperature and it's a little higher than usual, but not enough to worry about.

LBH sorry to hear about your tough nights lately - I hope tonight is better.

Mous the blood test thing sounds tricky. Have you got anything at all that might keep her occupied for a minute while they do it? Good luck!

Soc how lovely to have so many parks so near by! We've got loads within 10 mins here, I rather suspect it won't be the same story in Bristol (two weeks til we move)

Bc I had to laugh at your poo squidging experience! It was the kind of laughter only someone who had recently had a big wee deposited in their lap could do...

BBB you okay? Are your DDs okay? I saw on FB you'd had some vomity situations...

Ace news with the naps, Scones! Long may it continue...

Abs, Stangirl?

DD has started forming proper words - it's very exciting! "Tiger" very clearly for "The Tiger Who Came To Tea" and she's started saying "peeze" or please (so well-mannered) plus some great attempts at other words. Just within the last couple of days or so....

Four wake-ups and loads of fidgeting last night - I'm sharing with DD because of Mum staying, wish me luck for a more restful one tonight....
(and the same to all of you....)

StoneBaby · 19/06/2011 19:43

Hi IC glad to hear you're okay.

Is stangirl due soon? (or is it my imagination? Hmm )

BBB how is your DD2 today?

mousquetaire I hope you find a way to have your blood test tomorrow.

We had a lovely Father's Day. DH enjoyed his present . We went out for lunch and to the pub after.

Don't want to go back to work tomorrow as I'm worried on what may have happen / not been done when I was gone...

fc , Abs, rainbow I hope you're okay

SocietyClowns · 19/06/2011 21:07

Been away for the weekend trying to clear out our 'spare' house... Out of interest, how do you get your stuff back to the UK IC and PA?

Love dd2's very strong emotions about things. She got very very cross with me when I moved dd2's table and chairs (small toddler size ones) out of dd2's room (to replace it with larger desk and chair). She loves that table and those chairs and will sit there eating crayons drawing for ages or stands on the table to look out of the window and shout at passing cats...
Then she couldn't contain her excitement when I moved the small table and chairs into her room!!! She literally did a little dance in her room, then sat down at her new table and poured 'tea' from her singing teapot Hmm for everyone who passed her for the next half an hour Grin. She had some trouble going to sleep because she kept getting up to point at her new table...

SocietyClowns · 19/06/2011 21:15

Er, mixing up my daughters, no doubt due to the Wine I had for dinner. Those would have been dd1's little table and chairs that dd2 how has in her room...
Glad that I only have two children (so far). How did people cope with something like 15? Did they actually adress them by name? Grin

rainbowweaver · 20/06/2011 05:52

All well here, thanks SB grandparents have just gone home last week so we're taking a moment to recover. :) Am travelling again this week - later today in fact. And have just been generally lurking and reading everyone's posts.

Going back to sleep now but just wanted to add mous DD stays still if she has a box of raisins. It's like a baby drug. She'll sit quietly working out how to open the box then dig out every last bit of raisin. This from a baby who's been known to run around for hours till she falls asleep.

PenguinArmy · 20/06/2011 06:16

blueberries are DDs drug of choice atm and they're not even messy, so bonus. Somehow I don't think they'll be as cheap or as available in the UK. DD often the most active and giggly when she's the most tired Hmm

Well still no more sleeping through and tbh she's a bit of grumpy mare atm, but I think that's part of having a 15 month old. I dread to think what will happen when full on tantrums occur. I think over having a nice couple of months where she would half play by herself we got complacent and really she needs a lot of attention full time again, which is fair enough. Of course she's still adorable and I find myself many times in a day smiling at her. DH is stressed as he's not heard back from Oxford and giving them a start date so he worried they are asking over candidates. It's been a whole working week since he told them, hopefully know at the end of this week, but I think that's affected things with DD as it does all come across doesn't it. I've started reading the 'how to talk so kids will listen', it's feels heavy going but I do connect with the content. Am also glad I've started as realised I'm doing a few of the things and I wold rather not.

She ate quite a bit of sudocrem today which has resulted in a lot of pooey nappies and a slight fever, well I think that's what caused it. No sign of new teeth so think we just a pushing through attempt but no breakage.

One more week of work :), if I've not fuckwit by end of tomorrow about next week I shall pluck up the courage to email him. We did a load of sorting out yesterday and threw out a load of things and packed others up. With regards to mocing stuff back to the UK, all we took with us in the first place was what fitted in out suitcases. We will be doing the same going back. They've seem to lowered to the weight allowances to 50lbs though, sure it was 60lbs before. So 3 hold suitcases (one large, medium and small), 3 carry ons, carseat and buggy.

Well that's enough ramble from me. Should be a good (but long week), with sunshine and high temperatures.

Bearcrumble · 20/06/2011 09:01

DS is also crazy for raisins - he gets a right shout on the moment he sees the box - and will sit still and be silent whilst eating but has a tantrum when the box is empty.

Sleep not great at the mo. Last night he didn't go to sleep until 8.15 and then woke at 2 (needed feeding and I kind of dozed on and off with him in our bed for an hour) but he then slept until 6.20.

I'm so fed up with this rain - PA enjoy your good weather, I'm v. envious.

A couple of people I know who had babies around the same time as me are pregnant - feeling a bit miserable about DS probably being an only. Would so love one more but haven't changed my mind about doing IVF again, I just couldn't knowing what I do now about the likelihood of pre-eclampsia and IUGR and my bicornuate uterus. Still, it doesn't rule out a natural pregnancy even though the wonky womb and past history don't make it very likely. We'll see :)

DH got back from Barcelona yesterday - he'd been there since Wed covering the Sonar festival. It was really nice to have a break from him but was great to have him back.

DS is obsessed with balloons, especially helium ones - he says "brrrn" for balloon and won't be parted from one once he has it until it has gone all sad and deflated and covered in food (he won't even let go of it at the high chair) and I spirit it away.

IC Great news on the talking. It is ever so exciting and really helpful to know what they are thinking about and what they want and what matters to them most (in our case balloons).

Chinook I am going to Take That too but on the 30th June. Very excited. Re what you said about me doing exciting stuff - to be honest I don't go out of my local area that often and I always tell you lot about it when I do as it seems like such a rare occurrence to me! The next place I want to go to is the Science Museum - the whole basement is for kids and there's a big under-3s section.

Waving to everyone else - BBB, Scones (great news on scan), Soc, LBH, SB, mous etc.

LittlebearH · 20/06/2011 10:07

ok just want to tell everyone..

DD SLEPT RIGHT THROUGH UNTIL UNTIL 7.10AM
[SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN][SHOCK] [GRIN]

Not boasting I promise, it maybe another 16 mo till she does it again.

Nice to know she is capable. I have racked my brains to work out if we did anything different yesterday. Nope.

Off to baby club to boast play

LittlebearH · 20/06/2011 10:08

fecking emoticons. You get my drift though Grin

BigBadBear · 20/06/2011 10:49

LBH congrats!

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 20/06/2011 18:38

LBH Grin!

I saw stan on another thread, she is probably tired, too busy running after her DD and is 36 weeks.

SB I did managed the blood test, I left DD1 in the waiting room with DD2 in the pram. Heard "mama mama.." all the time, the nurses found it cute. Didn't say it was mine. Of course DD1 was crying when I came back Blush she wanted to be with me, and I had to take a taxi to school, which I hate. All well after the sweet though (for DD1 of course)
DD2 has a high fever tonight, probably the swimming and the sauna saturday or the little girl. A bit worried but she is sleeping right now. It is her first real fever, it is more worrying than for DD1 who always go past 39C.

PenguinArmy · 20/06/2011 18:46

glad the bloods went well mous

do you think DD2 caught something at swimming?

StoneBaby · 20/06/2011 18:55

Good news for theblood test mous but bad news on the fever. Fingers crossed she'll be over it soon.

Grin LBH

bc a few of my friends/work colleagues are having a 2nd child now and I'm a bit Envy of them. Especially as their childcare expenses are zero as it's done by their parents. So they always look at me a sad way when I say that because of childcare we can't afford a 2nd one. Sad

InmaculadaConcepcion · 20/06/2011 19:31

Mous that must be very worrying for you - I hope DD2 gets over it very quickly.

LBH fab news on the sleeping through!

Bc I thought of you today when I had to clear up two (thankfully smallish) poos during nappy-off time this evening. I managed to avoid stepping in either of DD's deposits, but she trampled through one before I had a chance to grab her (I was still clearing up the first one when the second made its appearance).

The nappy came off for a bit because the bloody nappy rash - which looked like it had just about cleared up - reappeared. Meh. Another thing to add to the teething nightmare and the hot nights intolerance. Last night was no better - if anything slightly worse as DD took over an hour and a half to resettle at one point. And she's been squealing and complaining about eating too. Dinner was basically cream cheese, a couple of bits of very soft pasta, some mango, goji berries and raisins (yup, another raisin lover here).
Going back to a mainly liquid diet isn't very easy when your LO mostly refuses to take anything from a spoon and can't yet wield one herself....
Happy Days!

It was useful having my mum here, though. DD clearly thinks the world of her, so her presence was a handy diversion (and she's far more relaxed about letting DD sift through the contents of her handbag than I am...)

Blimey, Stangirl is 36 weeks! I had DD at that gestation....

I meant to say, lovely news about your scan, Scones!

I'm very impressed with how little you and your DH are carrying back from the US, PA! We are shipping a load of stuff back - we worked out the cost of doing so was a lot less than replacing the stuff we want to keep once we're back in the UK.

Love the cuteness of your DD2's reaction to inheriting her big sister's chair and table, Soc!

SB that father/child t-shirt set is great! I do hope they wear the set together very often....

Great to hear from you again, rainbow. I've never tried DD with raisins in a little box - I imagine she would love it....

I'm sure the novelty will quickly wear off, but I'm actually envying you the UK's chilly rainy weather....! DD is clearly a northern european, judging by her reaction to Madrid's sultry summer nights.....

PenguinArmy · 21/06/2011 06:05

Anyone else's DCs playing imaginary games Grin DD hands us nothing, but very delicately takes it out of a empty pot first :)

IC We really don't have that much stuff, we have things in storage at our parents place but we're not old enough (nor rich enough) to ever had nice things and we're not sentimental.

Hope you're all having a good night

BigBadBear · 21/06/2011 15:06

More foot news: DD2 saw the consultant last night and he said she's completely normal. I'm waiting for a second opinion from the NHS biomechanics people we are seeing later this week before I believe him.

The vomiting appeared to be a one-off. Though DH is away again tonight (he was away at the weekend) so DD2 may well do it again.

No imaginary games from DD2, but she loves DD1's dance mat game (very amusing as she can't stand unassisted - she copies DD1 by crawling round it at a frantic rate, or by sitting and thumping her feet as fast as she can). She is very sweet at bedtime too, in that she crawls to her sofa once she's dressed, points to her milk before drinking some, then points to her book to be read, then has the rest of her milk. When she's had enough, she mops her mouth delicately with a muslin, puckers up for a kiss, gives me a nose rub and cuddle, then goes to dive into her cot. I zip her up and give her a blanket and she waves goodbye to me. Lovely.

IC and PA good luck with the moves. You'll be yearning for hot weather once you're back in the UK, as it's rubbish here at the moment.

mous why are you having a blood test? Have I missed something?

BC I too laughed at the poo story. Sorry!

Soc loved your table and chairs story. How lovely.

StoneBaby · 21/06/2011 17:45

BBB odd question, but can the consultant explained why her feet have that angle? Hopefully the 2nd opinion may give you more clarification. Good luck Smile

soc aww at the table and chairs story. It's so cute!

DS is so funny at the moment as everytime he sees an animal on tv he goes ohoh and grr! No real imaginary games here but he plays by himself with his tractor.

bethylou · 21/06/2011 21:22

Hellooooo!
Have just read the last couple of pages so that I can at least post a bit, even though the letter 'T' on my keyboard is still broken - really off-putting.

Firstly, how I laughed about the poo incidents.. (DS1 had one last week when my mum was looking after him - "Why were you dipping the plug socket cover in the potty full of poo DS1?" "I was looking for sweetcorn!!" Bleurghhh!)

Secondly, glad to read your last post there BBB as you sound a bit more positive. I read about your difficulties with your DH and so wanted to send you big hugs and sympathy. Hope things are okay. Glad to hear that the first doctor has given your DD2's feet the all clear. Keep us informed.

LBH totally get your excitement about sleeping through. We get glimmers of it here - in the last two weeks we've had three nights of unbroken sleep but not consecutively. It gives me hope for the future though (and I'm amazed how well I can now function after getting out of bed 15 times!!) Unfortunately, DS2 has had calpol every night that he has slept through (canines coming through) so he still hasn't done it under his own volition yet.

Mous I'm with you on looking for ways of keeping the children in one place. My friends with girls who sit have arranged a daytime catch up in a country park. I can't decide whether to tie my two to a post or just not go. I'll never get to the end of a conversation and will come home frustrated. We've been giving DS1 piriton and have been told it will be making him drowsy. Now I'm too scared to stop - the new dairy-free regime has changed him completely and I now have an even more bonkers 3 year old who is leading my already quite bonkers 16 month old astray. At least I'm getting away with eating chocolate without exercising!!!

Good news re the scan Scones. Good luck to Stan!

Good luck to PA and IC with the impending moves. We're shying away from a trip to Lincolnshire to see the relatives so I'm in awe!

And our news in brief? I've torn the muscle in my forearm which is inconvenient and sore; DH has had a pay rise and an unexpected bonus so I'm feeling very proud and we're going out for dinner at the weekend Smile; DS1 has gained 1.5lb/750g in 6 weeks on his new diet so we're thrilled. DS2's still waiting for sleep study at Birmingham; working like a mad thing - IC don't assume that your DH will have an easy life as a teacher - my authority are doing very well paying me for only 3 days' work a week at the moment, but I'm just pleased to have a job at the mo.

And finally, Take That.. Last minute thing after initially not getting any tickets. Had to arrange three different sitters for the boys in a childcare relay; drove to Cardiff after work and arrived 15 mins before they came on. Danced the night away and loved spending some time with DH. Then drove back again and got home at 1:30a.m before work again the next morning. It was a lovely evening and the higlight of my year so far! Contemplated throwing my knickers at Robbie but decided it might cost me my job if I got seen!! I'm far too young to be a middle-aged drunkard PA and actually everyone was lovely in Cardiff (as I'm sure SC would expect!)

Hi to all of you I haven't mentioned by name. Life will calm down at the end of term and I'll be back on here more regularly.

More mammoth than usual - my apologies.

bethylou · 21/06/2011 21:22

p.s. and hoping DD2 is okay mous.

BigBadBear · 21/06/2011 21:45

stone that's exactly what I thought (about the weird angle of her feet and ankles) but he pulled and turned at her legs for quite a while before saying that her arch hadn't formed yet and that was it. DH was convinced but I'm a bit more cynical (he's a bone specialist, whereas biomechanics is more specific to what I believe to be DD2's issue). But then I feel bad saying that because it sounds as though I want something to be wrong, which of course I don't, but so many people have said that it looks odd (and many of them unprompted) that I don't think I'm imagining it. But according to the consultant, I am!

beth thank you for your concern. One day at a time at the moment... Sorry about your arm, it sounds very painful.

mous I have lost track of you and your DDs. Sorry. Is your DD2 OK?

PenguinArmy · 22/06/2011 06:20

sorry beth I hope I didn't offend Blush

You are sounding a lot more up beat, despite so much on your plate. I think 3 nights is what DD managed, hopefully we'll all get another 3 soon :)

BBB I was just thinking about your DDs feet, when you see the other consultant. Could you take someone who might be more forthright with q's, was it your sister who mentioned it you beforehand?

THREE MORE DAYS OF WORK Grin
