I liked the CRESH acronym more than FESH so have used it. Welcome all ESH to your final stop on the journey. Rest your aching lady bits, try one of the many gin based cocktails, and try to molest the gorgeous waiting staff.

Blessedly, the feeds EA sleeps best between are the nighttime ones. Getting her to settle in the daytime/ evening for long enough to free ones arms up to do anything useful is proving more difficult!

Muser · 20/04/2011 09:50

Same here Medee. Nights have always been better. She goes down fairly easily once she's fed enough.

Clucky I have the No Cry Sleep Solution to thank for the ignoring. It explained sleep cycles and now I always wait a bit before intervening. I don't have a baby who wakes up crying so I have to distinguish the "I am awake and require food" grunts from the "I am just in the middle of a sleep pattern" grunts.

I wish I had been better at ignoring when he was smaller, it got us in to a right old mess, so well done.

CluckyKate · 20/04/2011 10:06

It's like learning a whole new language, huh! I watched a DVD once that told you what the different cries meant....am still none the wiser.

FannyPriceless · 20/04/2011 18:37

clucks Yes, we had that baby language DVD. The only one that was really super useful was the 'I'm starving here!' cry (which from memory was Hnarr or something).

I sold the DVD on ebay. A woman contacted me begging me to close the auction early as she was desperate to get her newborn twins to sleep.Confused Obv, I sold it to her straight away and wished her all the best (there but for the grace of Alan, etc).

SilverSky · 20/04/2011 19:18

Will MB always be as much as he is at the mo? Tis shocking! He even squeezed one out at lunchtime. Reason I knew was due to the grunting accompanying a concentration type stare! He's done four today!!!

Gorgeous day. I didn't get out due to car being taken away tho HI just got home and I took dawg out for a spin. Baby free time. Was good.

Have had words with HI saying that I'm not happy being on my own 6 days a week for 18hrs a day. Didn't mind when it was just me but now there's MB too and I want him around more. Not just to help out but so we start having time together. Sick of always being on my own. Told him I feel like a single parent. Easy in the week as have chums to catch up with but harder at weekends cos chums are enjoying their family time and I don't like to intrude. Main point here being that we ate not having any quality time together or as a family. It has to change.

moo great to hear you bright and breezy!

Did anyone watch part 2 of The Reckoning? Bleeding SkyPlus clashed it!! What happened??

SilverSky · 20/04/2011 19:19

Missing word in first para is..... POOING!!

Medee · 20/04/2011 20:52

mm, the Baby Bjorn wasn't a great success, I think she is too wee for it. Muse, which of your slings is your favourite?

Muser · 20/04/2011 21:00

Wrap sling Medee, no contest. Right now I have a Kari-me but Moby is the same. I'm getting my summer Calin Bleu one tomorrow so can report back on that. Same principle but light weight.

The Kari-me is really comfy for me, I can leave it on so great for going out in as no need to retie each time. And she loves it. She falls asleep in it and will happily sleep for 2 hours or even more. Today when she howled the place down after jabs the sling was the only thing that comforted her.

TBG uses the Baby Bjorn and she doesn't mind that bit doesn't sleep in it the way she will in a wrap. Are you sticking E's arms out the side? We leave arms in as she seems to prefer it that way.

OP posts:
Muser · 20/04/2011 21:01

Cass has a Close sling and I think she loves that. I did look at those but could get the Kari-me cheaper on EBay.

I now own 5 slings. I'm not sure how that happened.

SilverSky · 20/04/2011 21:28

I have a Close sling for sale. MB to chunky monkey for it now.

Medee · 20/04/2011 22:20

thanks Muse, I think I shall look into one of those Kari-mes.

AlpinePony · 21/04/2011 07:32

I believe it's Polly who is our resident baby-whisperer then because she's raved about the DVD in the past and appears to be fluent in "greeting".

silv What does your husband do which requires his prescence so often? It's not out of line I don't think to demand he spends a little time with you as a family. I've certainly changed my horse/weekend routine so that we have more family time.

cossie From what you've told me, it wasn't so much that you had a problem "ignoring", but that TGO got himself wound up in to a right old state and there were two to deal with. Know that one!

muser/medee It's a shame carrots has gone, she was sling-mad and had tried them all I think. medee How big is EA? We have a carry thing similar to the Bjorn, but when he was really really tiny I had to hold him with both hands even when he was in it ifyswim, although it still felt safer to me than me carrying him naked as I was paranoid about falling and landing on him. As you do! Hmm

Paranoid thought of the week: Had to go out the other day in the car when it was very hot with Bear in the seat in the back. Got a "paranoid thought" driving back that I would "forget" to get him out of the car and would just leave him there, forgetting I had a baby until JB got home. Mental. :(

CurlyCasper · 21/04/2011 09:09

If anyone wants to borrow a Moby for, say, a month or so while they figure out if it works for them, I would be happy to lend. But I think we'll need it back for our holiday (going to work out how to put her on her dad's back). It's an olive green one BTW.

Hospital wasn't what i expected yesterday. Not saying too much here.

Cosmosis · 21/04/2011 09:22

alpro I don?t really mean when he cried, I?m happy with that. But there was a time around Christmas when he started waking a lot and I assumed it was a growth spurt, but looking back I think he was just waking and I should have left him to see if he went back to sleep more. Because he wasn?t waking unhappy, but as I couldn?t sleep when he was awake I used to feed him back to sleep. I don?t think I should have done that.

SilverSky · 21/04/2011 11:24

alps working, always working! He says he's making changes so we have more time together. I have yet to see it!!

AlpinePony · 21/04/2011 11:34

Things I want which are over-priced but I want anyway: The entire Joules Badminton collection. Blush The two who'd tell me to do it anyway are there and probably wearing the aforementioned ensemble. Envy

Cossie I see what you mean yes, I think I probably fell in to that trap too - rather than letting him settle himself, I leapt in to action trying to soothe.

Cosmosis · 21/04/2011 11:40

curls in a good or bad way?

FannyPriceless · 21/04/2011 12:36

curls hope you are OK.

alps I have a problem. Yesterday when I needed an emergency plastic plant pot for Bonnie's easter bonnet (don't askHmm) I dashed 5 mins down the road to the next village to the country outlet store which I'd never been to but noticed had some plants on display outside. Well, blow me down but this place is a massive warehouse of everything anyone could want in the country, including two rows of Joules clothing for mummies and children. Oh dear. To avoid buying I browsed the saddlery instead, and got into conversation with a lovely old gentleman there to buy a new supply of clay targets.Grin

I need to apply for a job. Yikes.

AlpinePony · 21/04/2011 12:41

"to avoid buying I browsed the saddlery insteadn and now find myself in posession of this: www.meadowbrookstables.co.uk/inky_dinky_website/images/emily_mags.gif " Wink

fanny What's the name again of that Yorkshire Joules-like equestrian place? I've put this top through the wash already half a dozen times (and have spilled tomato seeds down it at lunch Blush) and it comes out looking spanking new every time - I'm a convert!

A job?

CurlyCasper · 21/04/2011 12:41

Countrywide fanny? We have one too Grin

cos bad in that I didn't get what I wanted. But on balance, and in hindsight, I know doc has my best interests at heart.

Cosmosis · 21/04/2011 13:01

Tonight brings us the unveiling of Artie's masterpiece of art. i am waiting with bated breath.

curls sorry to hear that.

Speaking of jobs I was astounded to discover a payrise when I came back to work. 2%. I can't say I'll notice the difference but the thought was there at least Grin

Can other working mothers give me some idea of how to be organised please?? although to his credit, TGO seems to be manning up a bit and is doing stuff around the house.

AlpinePony · 21/04/2011 13:19

Make packed-lunch, lay out clothes, pack laptop bag, handbag, stables kit all the night before. If I'm dropping him off at creche, have his creche bag and buggy in the boot of the car. Wash my hair the night before. Bend the space-time continuum. The usual stuff.

Cosmosis · 21/04/2011 13:33

I do all that, it's more things like when on earth am I supposed to do the washing / ironing /tify up? cleaner came today and we left the house a complete shit tip for her :(

At the moment by the time I have got home, done half an hour of playing, got him to bed, got everything ready for tomorrow, had dinner then it's time for bed!

SilverSky · 21/04/2011 13:48

costa I'm on ML as you know and out gaff is a pit! Best advice is to blitz it and stay on top of it where poss. Eg -HI doesnt open his own post (I think he wants me to be his admin support- clearly I've enough to do without that little job thanks! So I've put it in a bag and out of sight. Has he noticed the pile has gone? Has he 'eck!
