Good Morning ladies!

Hope you all had a good night? I was so beat when I went to sleep that I was seeing weird moving graphics when I finally got to lie down and close my eyes....wow! LOL,was bizarre! \like having a dream when awake... Anyone else having strange overtired happenings? Oh, also, lol, I found myself putting cat food in the washing machine ....thankfully it was the dry biscuits type & I managed to get it all out again..... I think.....waiting with baited breath to see if family ask if I've changed the washing powder, lol....... Could be found laughing my head off in the kitchen at 6:30 yesterday morning....ha he harrrrr....
RE: Lochia - bright red sounds normal, mine has just stopped these last few days,at @ 5 weeks post birth, but I wouldn't be surprised if it returned if I got overtired. Bear if you're not doing too much and u feel well then you're prob fine.... are you worried? Maybe ask midwife/gp to put your mind at rest? HTH....

novabrandybutterpowder · 07/12/2005 12:44

Well, the night training is tiring but seems to be paying off - She woke up at 1.45 and 6, but I made her wait until 3 and 7.15 for food. Also tiring is trying to wean her off my arms for her daytime naps. She cries all morning as a result, but I am determined to get her sleeping on her own!! She's currently in her pram sleeping (hurrah) but I can never be that far away as she only ever lasts about 20mins before waking up.

LilJ - can't wait to meet up with you and a gooey new baby. Everyone elses were sooo well behaved yesterday - it was just natalie that made a little girl put her hands over her ears!

Beartime - weight depends on so many factors, I bet everyone on here can tell you something different. I was back in my pre-preg clothes after a week/10days, but that is mainly down to sickness during my pg and the fact that I did lots and lots of walking. My bleeding stopped after 4 weeks, bar one random day of spotting since. Just waiting for the delights of periods now...

Londoner - rofl sleep deprivation has a lot to answer for...

novabrandybutterpowder · 07/12/2005 12:45

oh, and still no smiles yet

tessnutsroasting · 07/12/2005 15:37

Just trying out Christmas name to see if it worked

Londoner - LOL at strange, sleep-deprived goings on!

I just get ratty and tearful. Something I did a lot of yesterday, it has to rate as the worst day yet. Tiredness and a rotten cold finally got to me and Tessa and I seemed to be on a collision course all afternoon/evening. Lots of tantrums and tears, and not all from Tessa . At one point they were both yelling at top volume and I walked out of the room and left them to it before I joined in!
Feeling very sorry for myself when DH finally got in from work at 9pm (left at 6.30am!)

Luckily Ash slept for FIVE hours last night for the first time so I feel a bit more human today. Its now nearly 4pm and no-one has had a tantrum yet

Busy - didn't get to say that I loved the image of you frightening shoppers. Closest I got was 3 people on the doorstep trying to get us to switch electricity companies. Told them that unless one of them was a midwife I wasn't interested. They backed away VERY quickly

RodeHoHoHo · 07/12/2005 16:45

Did a big chunk of my present shopping today - Yippee! Got alot from Boots (buy 2, get 1 free)and Toys r us next door. Did get some of those 'gifts' from World vision - the one's where you buy a goat/school uniform/water sanitation pack for someone in the third world for a few people who I couldn't think of what to get or people who aren't bothered about receiving pressies. Not sure if they'll be appreciated, but if not it's tough!!

Beartime - Just seen the piccy! Caleb is gorgeous, all that hair!!

Also saw a lovely glam picture of Nova too at the meet-up

I'm still bleeding too (8 weeks on )! Horrid, urgh. Went quiet for ages but got a big splurge last night and it's continuing today. Did think it was my period but as I'm bf I don't think so (hope not anyway!), didn't get them back last time til I'd finished bf completely.

Nova, Jess smiled for the first time last Fri (7 weeks & 5 days! - which I think is quite late) got about 0-1 a day til today. I think today it's kind of clicked and I've had quite a lot of them today which is so lovely. She hasn't smiled at anyone else though, dp keeps trying but I think she's more fascinated by his deep voice to smile That's what I keep telling hm anyway

Beks, seems like little Tommy's giving you a hard time, dd1 was awful for the first 13 weeks so colicky, nothing seemed to work, she just constantly screamed from 7pm til after 1am and always needed holding upright in the day. God knows how we managed to cope but at least she was the only one I had to look after back then. But it did miraculously stop at 13 weeks. Sending you hugs and sleepy dust to Thomas

Tessnutsroasting - Like it! Hope you've had a much better day today. I hate those kind of days, tiredness is sooooo awful...zzzzzzzzzzz

Right, have to go and get tea on for some starving children

RodeHoHoHo · 07/12/2005 16:48

Catfood in the washing machine - That is bad!

I set my cat on fire once....by accident, she was fine, bit too close to the hob She didn't even notice (or move!) though, just thought 'why are you manically patting me, you mad woman??'

Busyalexsmummy · 07/12/2005 16:48

t-lol!

havent been able to post much as mine both have colds-what a nightmare! both are grotty, restless and bad tempered(as males are when ill!) so things here are nr impossible...

had awful day yesterday, braved it out after alexs afternoon nap as needed to get in supplies of vicks/olbas/cough mix etc, anyhow, it was my first attempt at taking both out together, alex in his volo with alfie in his sling, got to bottom of hill and pressed button at the pedestrian crossing, waited for it to turn red and started crossing...car came towards us and didnt stop!!!!!!, swerved widely over to the other side of the road and carried on!!???!!
I was in total shock, the driver was literally inches from the buggy, I threw V's at him cursed loudly, got to the other side and burst into tears, I just couldnt believe it, god knows what he was looking at, but cetainly wasnt the road
dont think i'll be braving it out alone again for a while, it scared me to death.

still waiting on the double buggy, suppliers now saying end of dec-bloomin better be...ordered back at begining of sept, so theyre now officially taking the p*ss

Cant believe how hard 2 children are, MIL says "well we've all done it"...hmm...but at least you had a 4yr gap between all of yours, bit different than 21 month gap! alex is a nightmare when feeding, runs off with the pillow that i lie alfie on so hes in line with boobs, have tried entertaining/distracting/sweets/bribery etc......so far nothings working-he seems to know he can push his luck so gets to work destroying the house......any tips from the 3rd+ timer mummies?

anyone else finding themselves falling asleep feeding , i find i have the past 3nights on the 3/4am feed, then i wake up at the next feed, one boob hanging out, soaking bloomin wet...

apologies bout the sp/punctuation etc but feeding babe and typing one handed, god it seems like hes fed constantly today, must be growth spurt or something.......

anyone heard from chacha/lilj/kristina?

love L xx

Busyalexsmummy · 07/12/2005 16:52

rodeo-was it you who offered to sort out resizing pics for someone, i would really like to post a pic of my 2 men, but unfortunately not sure how to???[puzzled emoticon]

Kristingle · 07/12/2005 17:18

Rodeo - sounds like your Christmas stockings are the same as mine. Got great things today in Boots on three for two - pseudo scientific toys like a telescope and microscope. Trying to broaden DD's mind from baby Annabelle. No really, she is quite intertesed in science. She and her dad were doing experiments with floating & sinking objects ( topic at school) and she told the teacher she was wrong - the metal objects didnt sink becaues they were metal but becaues of mass and density!!!!

Have also bought soem goats from World Vision. Poor DS1 has virtually nothing in comparison but he will only be interetsed in the wrapping paper anyway

BAM - are you by any chance waiting on the cosatto duet lite from the pram centre? Coz I got the same letter!!!! maybe thats why I have no baby yet.........

Busyalexsmummy · 07/12/2005 17:32

yep, im waiting for cosatto duet lite from babydaysdirect. Im hoping its no longer than end of dec as i find the babybjorn hard work once they get over 12lbs(I havent got the strongest back!)

Busyalexsmummy · 07/12/2005 17:37

ps-Come on ladies, please join my yahoo group!! Im desperate to show off my boys and see what everyone elses LO's look like! CAT me your email and I'll invite you in, Ive just put a load of pics on there of my two!

alfiesmum · 07/12/2005 19:10

Hi all, been reading your posts but never seem to have time to sit down and write something!

Hello busy, I have seen your photos, your boys are lovely. Very strange, they were sent to me via email! I have a faint memory of joining months ago.

Alfie also plays up when I am feeding Oscar, usually helps himself to food in the kitchen or destroys something as he knows I can't get up!

Oscar is being a perfect baby at the moment, He is nothing like Alfie when he was tiny, he cried non-stop for months. Sometimes I even forget I have him!

Beartime - I have only just stopped bleeding bright red a couple of days ago and Oscar is 5 weeks today.

Talking of weightloss I am lucky that I only put on just over a stone in pregnancy and was back to usual weight within a few days (I think having a 9 pound baby helped!) I now weigh half a stone less as I have been really struggling with my appetite since the birth and have been having to make myself eat. I was getting a little worried at one point as I have always been a big eater, but things have been improving over the last week or so and Im sure I will pile in all back on again over christmas

I hope chacha is ok, very unlike her not to get a post on here somehow even if she just got her husband to post something.

How many of you are using washable nappies? I have bought a selection of different types to try and have been very impressed so far. Just wondered what type everyone else was using?

Jess and Oscar (5 weeks)

alfiesmum · 07/12/2005 19:15

just read that back and have to add that I still have a lovely jelly belly covered in wrinkles and stretchmarks! don't think anything will shift them, my babies are worth it though

beartime · 07/12/2005 20:31

Thanks everyone for reassurance on the bleeding - I was a bit concerned. They did a swab today in case its anything (ugh - worse than delivery!) but she said it's probably fine. If everyone else takes so long, then why do the books say 1 week the red stuff stops?!!!!!!!!!!! (those books again )

Londoner sounds like you should take some daytime naps! I haven't had any awake dreams, but plenty of asleep nightmares about killing baby by mistake

Poor Busy - it's bad enough the paranoia about babies being OK without people adding to it I've fallen asleep feeding too.

Alfiesmum - I use plain old terries

novabrandybutterpowder · 07/12/2005 21:08

Well, v. tired here - had a red bull to keep me going and it did weird things to me, so i think I'm going to have to lay off the caffeine!

From getting up at 7.15am to going to bed at 8.30pm Natalie has only had a one hour nap and two 15 minute naps! It's exhausting, as when she's awake she demands my constant attention, if I try to leave her on her play mat/rocking chair she cries until she chokes. The good thing is it seems to make her go down easier at night (ha ha fingers crossed).

Tessnuts - love the christmas name

I too have fallen asleep holding DD whilst waiting for the bottle to warm - usually wake up an hour later . Thats how I twigged she was waking up through habit rather than hunger, hence trying to train her to go longer in the night between feeds.

BAM - I swore at a driver yesterday too who zoomed over a zebra crossing I was on. He had seen me though, as he waved apologetically at me as he nearly hit me. He had his window down so got the full force of my wrath!

Natalie is 7wks and 4 days and STILL no smiles. She can definitly see ok, so not sure why she's hanging out on us for so long.

pmsl at setting the cat on fire !!!

novabrandybutterpowder · 07/12/2005 21:24

Beartime - just tracked down your baby pic, he's soooooooooo scrummy.

I don't know what's happened to me, I just can't resist babies

tessnutsroasting · 07/12/2005 22:09

Busy - just tried to CAT you but it told me I was doing something wrong, will try tomorrow when I may have had some sleep!

goldenoldie · 07/12/2005 22:25

Nova - how do you get baby to go for longer gaps between feeds? Mine just howl after 3 hours at night unless a breast or bottle is stuffed in their gob!

Londoner · 08/12/2005 09:17

Yay! This is from ChaCha this morning at 9.11am..
Congratulations ChaCha!

Good morning ladies,

Our baby boy was born on Saturday morning by emergency c-section after a very tiring and intense labour. I am totally lost for words and can't begin to describe how I feel at the moment. I will post a birth announcement later when I am able to piece together the events of the last week - it's all still quite a haze and as you can probably tell am still a little disorientated.

Baby weighed 7lbs 9oz (contrary to fuss over 'big for dates'), he's very long with beautiful long legs and fingers. He is feeding & sleeping well and is just amazing - but then i'm biased Will post pics later too.

Congratulations to all the November mummies, to SS, hopefully to LilJ by now and all the best to Kristina. I hope to post a proper birth announcement soon.

So glad to be back home. What a week!!

Love to you all xxxx

Londoner · 08/12/2005 11:02

Hi girls!

tessnuts, that name is an absolute inspiration, lol! Glad to hear you got a good 5 hours last night, sleep eh there's nothing quite like it. BTW, ratty & tearful sounds normal, I bet you all swing round and have a really good day today..... oh, just realised I'm a day behind, oops! How was last night, did you get 5 hours again?
Wow rodeho I'm so of you having sorted so much of your Xmas shopping, it must feel really good? D'you think you got your lochia back because you had such a big day out shopping? It'll prob settle down again. Lovely 2 hear about Jess smiling . Oh and love your cat story too, lol!
Beks hope you're ok today? Sorry 2 hear Thomas is unsettled at the moment...
Busy, you poor thing after your traffic experience, am so glad you're alright..... unbelievable....driver should have stopped to see if you were ok & apologise. How r you all today, everyone still bunged up?
Reading about your bf and ds1 situation reminded me of with my ds1 and 2nd baby when ds1 was 27 months old, he used to run round the house tipping any available drinks onto the carpet, and nappy change bowl of water...every time, spent loads of time scrubbing carpet.... firstly I reminded myself that it was a phase that wouldn't last forever, which helped and then I tried the distaction techniques like you, like with you I didn't really get very far either, but I didn't stop trying and we did get through it, so I can only say that you will get through it, sorry I can't be more help. Actually what did help was trying to go out as much as poss. not always easy I know, but ds1 didn't seem to notice what I was doing as much if we were at a toddler group or a friends house... also he couldn't wreck our house if we weren't actually in it. Do you know any groups/other mums? Oh, and yes, I fall asleep feeding regularly too, I heard that the hormones you release when feeding aid sleep recently which made sense...... did exactly what you did the other morning at 4am and woke up a few hours later with a 90º angle crooked neck! Have been in scarves since then which helps..... it's when you wake up with a soaking baby, from your own milk, who is contentedly asleep, full, with a clean nappy and you have to get up and change them that I crack!
P.S. How do I join your Yahoo group? And what is CAT-ting and email?
Kristingle lol at your amazing DD correcting teacher
about mass & density! Lol!
Hi alfiesmum! I'm using washable nappies too and also bought a selection..... d'you know, I like them all, lol, and I like having a selection to choose from for different situations/moods. The one I like the best changes all the time. I've got orig. Tots Bots in white and unbleached, Fluffles, Bamboozles, MEOs, Sandy's, a bimble, muslins and terries, but only use Motherease wraps which are excellent..how about you? RE: weitght loss, perhaps you are slightly anaemic, which can affect your appetite? Try multivits with iron maybe?
bear Sorry to hear about your bad dreams. My brain is constantly alerting me to dangers all the time too, with very visual warnings about what could happen too, but only in the day, not dreaming at the moment that I'm aware of...
nova agree that caffeine has weird affect, I can't have much of it myself as I tire out too quickly on overdrive with it.... I'm sure Natalie will be smiling soon, they say 6 weeks is an average which means there will be a normal range for a few weeks either side of 6 weeks doesn't it?
Elizabeth is doing great, it's the teenage toddler who's taking the most energy at the moment, I think being the 1st born he always needs extra attention esp. when a newborn arrives.... but he's just divine so I can forgive him.... practically have to dress him myself each morning? Stand at the door like a 1950's wife with his hoody/bag/lunch held out for him [rolls eyes emoticon]!
Lovely and quiet here between the hours of 9-3.25 though, ........

Diege · 08/12/2005 11:05

COngratulations ChaCha!!!!!!
Look forward hearing birth story when you are ready!
First chance I've had to log on for a while, so haven't had chnace to catch up yet. Was reassured to see that we seem to be mirroring younand Natalie Nova re: night wakings. I agree, I think they bdom wake through habit sometimes. Libby wasn't interested in her morning feed, so I've strted to slowly reduce the amount she btakes at 3.30. Have been falling asleep myself at night feed, but then when she's finished I'm wide awake, and drift bon anbd off until 6.30. Can't complain too much with one night waking though - I'm sure it's down to 10.30 feed last thing, though I'm finding this a killer with no 'I'm a celebrity' to keep me up!! Any ideas on hiow to keep them awake during day??
TWINKLE!!!!!I have times for Tuesday (13th)My best one gets me into PIccadily for 10.40, though I could get the earlier one which gets in at 10.09 if this is more convenient? I'm also bringing my pram, and the tram idea sounds good. I'm thinking Arndale food court for ease, though only have a vague memory of this existing when I was last there about 15 years ago. Maybe I should check.... Really looking forward to meeting up, and sorry I've been delayed in getting times to youy .
Speak soon,
Diege and Libby.

Diege · 08/12/2005 11:12

Sorry about awful, irritating typing!!! Morning Londoner . I can only dream of 1950s housewife image - Tempers always seemed frayed in our house at this time, and then I feel guiltynb for the restb of the day for shouting as they leave for school/nursery. I think we forget how fortunate we are to have happy, healthy children sometimes, reminded by letter sent home from school yesterday requesting gifts for terminally ill local kids this Xmas (Butterfly Project) . Must try harder!!
Diege

Londoner · 08/12/2005 11:28

HiDiege, sounds knackering! Good to have you back, wondered how you were. Oh, I think I might have misled you, certainly by no means a 1950's ideal here, plenty of tempers and tantrums here too, I suppose I just class those as normal along with all the other stuff, survival technique #32 'live in cloud cuckoo land'
