Anyone else? Maybe we can get a group discount Grin

angfirsttimer · 06/09/2011 16:27

The only place I could possibly share this....warning TMI
DS follows me into bathroom and I have to change..ahem... A feminine hygiene product... DS watches intensely as said product inserted then tries to look up my ladybits to see where it's gone!!!Blush

So my question is, when are they too old to come to the bathroom with you?!

Arcadie · 06/09/2011 19:53

Ang - my DD still does this. She's coming up 4 in December. Particularly fascintaed with "where the Poucher goes" (by poucher she means my I'm-a-total-lentil-weaver Mooncup!

What the...? I disappear don't check in for a few weeks and instead of the usual handful of posts that our busy lives allow there are pages and pages of posts! How am I reasonably expected to namecheck/catch up properly?

Well, I just can't. I'm far too distracted by my bfp this morning...

angfirsttimer · 06/09/2011 21:35

Wow manda great news Grin

Dalrymps · 06/09/2011 22:12

Well done Evitas! Smile

Wow Manda congratulations! Wonderful wonderful newsGrin

I will be back to post properly soon! Smile

PacificDogwood · 06/09/2011 22:28

Well done, evitas! Submitting a thesis is more I every did - I did the research, wrote some of it up and then... stalled Blush. Must be a load off your shoulders.

Manda, yippee!! Phantastic news! Scary, I am sure, but great.
GrinGrinGrin
I am very, very chuffed for you Smile.

ang, as the only female in this house I feel it is my duty to be available as anatomical model of the Female of the Species Grin. YY to lots of squatting down and peering up IYKWIM - Joe does not seem to be too bothered but his 3.6 year old brother has only recently reduced the frequency with which he has to confirm that I, indeed, do NOT have a penis, but instead have "a 'gina", usually pronounced at top volume in the supermarket or busy park. In the town where I live AND work. And everybody, their brother and their dog knows me. Well, I comfort myself with the thought that I am sure most people will be reassured to know that their GP is not a male cross-dresser or summat.
Oh, yes, lots and lots of peering - I draw the line and touching and ahem... spreading. Of lips Blush.

And on that lovely image, I bid you good-night.

slimmingsarahandco · 06/09/2011 22:40

WOW manda congratulations x much love to u all x

Sariska · 06/09/2011 22:40

manda Grin Grin Grin. Lovely news!

evitas - fab news for you too. I hope you are enjoying a well earned rest right now?

How did today go, Shroomer? It sounded very encouraging.

Baby safety helmets? Yep, one needed here too. DD just delights in bouncing on beds. The other day - my back was turned - she bounced right off my bed and her head caught the corner of the bedside table. The shrieks were instant and I was expecting a lot of blood. Nothing. Nada. Lucky girl. And lucky Mummy too, I guess.

Kids in the loo with me? Yup. If I dare to shut the door, I can barely count to 5 before the handle starts turning. And if I have locked the door..... Well! The plaintive, hurt Mummeee (DS) almost makes me forget that once-upon-a-time I'd only have countenanced being accompanied to the loo when with a gang of girlfriends on a night out after an ill-advised quantity of alcohol. How times change!

Oh, and mooncups. Yes. I want one of these. When my period finally returns. Either I am menopausal or a certain someone is getting far more milk than an 18 mother ought reasonably expect to have. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that she still hasn't slept through.

Am feeling quite a lot better now, thanks Dalrymps and Walnut. DH stepped up to the plate with the childcare although did get a Hmm from me when he commented on Sunday evening that he didn't feel that he'd really had a weekend. I suspect it was something to do with getting to do considerably less exercise than he'd normally have squeezed in. I stopped short of initiating a discussion about his amount of free time vs my amount of free time. Saved it for Monday night instead..... Didn't go down too well. Guess it's a bit akin to the whole competitive tiredness thing.

Walnut - how cool that you're also writing a book. I wonder if it says anything about lawyers and our lifestyles that so many of us dream of doing something so different (two of the Partners in my department owned up to similar dreams when I resigned). On the subject of writing courses, though, I have heard good things about the OU distance learning courses and some very good things about the Arvon Foundation residential courses. Might be tricky, though, if you're not UK based.

Right, my bed is calling. Night night all.

Sariska · 06/09/2011 22:42

18 monther. D'oh!

MandaHugNKiss · 07/09/2011 09:22

You're a one for copying cool dance moves, eh, RKD? Grin

Thank you all so much. Totally doesn't feel real yet... and with my due date for T being Monday it's all a bit surreal.

Oooh, my, and YY to a very strongwilled toddler. James is most adept at bursting my eardrums screeching to signal his disapproval. Usually followed by banging his head on something, or throwing something. Foul temper. DOn't know where he gets it...

Arcadie · 07/09/2011 09:43

Shhhhh - I'd forgotten about that.

Flisspaps · 07/09/2011 09:47

Manda That's AMAZING news Grin Grin

MissP How did you get on with the two of them?

I don't have children in the loo with me. I've got two stairgates and as yet no-one else has mastered the art of opening and closing them so they can't follow me up the stairs :)

evitas · 07/09/2011 11:24

Manda congratulations!! Fantastic news!

MissPenteuth · 07/09/2011 11:35

Oh Manda that is truly wonderful news. I hope Monday isn't too difficult and remember we're all here for virtual hand-holding if you need it x Weirdly I was re-reading the Hammer-gate posts and watching the clip just yesterday (felt compelled to read my birth announcement for some reason so searched the ante-natal group archives) Grin

Glad you're getting over your stomach bug Sariska.

Fliss it's this afternoon that I'll be babysitting. Wish me luck..

Izzy has recently discovered the word "no" after several months of "yeah". It's already making things difficult. She's just started putting two words together as well and her squeaky "yeah, pees" (for "yes please") is just too cute. The "no no no", usually accompanied by running away, when I need to put her shoes and coat on is less so.

Arcadie · 07/09/2011 12:20

People are still watching the clip?

OP posts:
Shroomer · 07/09/2011 13:10

Hammergate (snigger). Ah happy memories. Maybe we should all post a video onto youtube of us each dancing to a dodgy 80s song?

Evitas That's fantastic news to have submitted. I remember it well. Such a weight off your shoulders. I hope your viva goes as well as mine did. After saying hello, the examiner said 'This is clearly a good Phd, so really I just want to chat about it'. Put me at ease no end!

I didn't get the job I was after (but it would have meant a commute each day, 3 days a week), so I've accepted job with Oxbridge uni. Yep, still keeping it vague - but it's one of those unis anyway. 3 days a week. Working from home. The pay's not great, but it's nice to put it on the cv.

slimmingsarahandco · 08/09/2011 21:37

MandaHugNKiss · 09/09/2011 09:13

Great news, sarah - hope your new position is everything you're hoping it'll be.

Agreed, fliss this upward trend is v heartning. Now all we need is for one of us to win euromillions and arrange and pay for a MMMTropical!M. Grin

MissPenteuth · 09/09/2011 09:15

Sorry about the job Shroomer but plan B doesn't sound too bad in the meantime.

Well done sarah and welcome to the world of lab assistant-ing (I'll be a lab technician if I ever find a job when I go back to work) :)

MissPenteuth · 09/09/2011 09:30

Oh, and before I forget (and I should have mentioned before now), does anyone in/near Birmingham fancy meeting for a coffee or something with the babies next Sunday? I'm going for my sister's wedding on Saturday and staying over. Would be lovely to catch up, sorry it's short notice.

squiggleywiggler · 09/09/2011 09:36

HUGE congrats Manda - brilliant news.

And sarah well done on the job - that sounds like a cool thing to be doing.
