Welcome to those with a March 2010.
Happy Easter from me....
Unwrap it quick!..

Oh, it's a new thread. Sad I was hoping for chocolate.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rindercella · 14/07/2011 17:54

Flip just such lovely news. Fingers crossed and all that, but I am really so, so happy for you.

Fliss great news about the Ofsted visit, these things must feel so terrifying as you approach them.

You know, I have now met two wonderful MMMums - MissPenteuth and MummyElk. They are both outstandingly wonderful. I cannot believe Mummyelf (snurk) came on Saturday night, but I am so pleased you did, thank you. You are bloody amazing and the Elk is a little star. I now no longer need any excuse to get myself off down to your city (not that I ever needed one to begin with!!).

So, a 100% hit rate cannot be bad. I would love to have a meet up with you all. I know the Midlands mums were thinking about Hatton Park. Why don't we try and get a date in the diary to organise another meet? Actually, I realise plans for this may already be in place, so if they are, I will be there - unless it's in the next 5 weeks of course.... the Caribbean sea beckons me... Oh, speaking of which, I am going to take a mini holiday within a holiday and get myself booked into a fabulous hotel all by myself for a couple of nights. After Jasmine's 1am-5am chorus call last night, I do not feel guilty in the least. Grin

Lots of love to you all xxxxxxxx

MandaHugNKiss · 14/07/2011 19:25

Oh, YES So very happy for you flip !! Hey, I don't wanna say 'I told you so' but... didn't I tell you so?! Grin You're clearly a fertile myrtle after all! Lots of sticky bean thoughts your way. Along with irrational 'well, last time I got my bfp follwed by Flips', so obviously we'll do the reverse now'

Great news on the Ofsted inspection, fliss Well done.

I'm tempted to actually go on FB because of the new pixlette... although I haven't got Pixie as a friend, because, well, I'm never on the thing! Hmm. Well, if you're lurking, dear Pixie, many congrats!

ringers Bad form to not only mention your amazing caribean holiday again and make me all envious! Ah, couldn't be happier for you, really. And hliday within a holiday sounds biss - I think I would lounge around drinking cocktails and reading. Ahhh.

I have a lump in my boob. I've made an appointment to see gp tomorrow and I'm assuming a blocked duct of some kind, but it's scary odd to have this happen at this stage and the first time in feeding three children. It's big, quite painful, and in the areola. Any wisdom here?

MandaHugNKiss · 14/07/2011 19:27

Sheesh, typos abound.

Pingpong · 14/07/2011 23:34

Grin huge congratulations flip - can totally understand your caution but I think that is entirely normal after a loss (I know I felt like that after my ectopic when all my dreams were shattered). Anyway fingers well and truly crossed and for you too manda
rinders a Carribean holiday and a holiday within a holiday sounds fab - you truly deserve it

Well done to you fliss on the graduation and the inspection result.
nighty night

FlipFantasia · 15/07/2011 13:29

Thanks for all your congratulations and good wishes ladies. Still getting my head around this, but in a good way. Still super early days (only about 4+2) and already time feels like it's sloooooowing right down in that way it does in early pregnancy. But each day is another day closer [upbeat]Smile

Rinders holiday within a holiday sounds fab and v well deserved. In fact the whole holiday sounds wonderful, and I hope you and the girls enjoy every bit of it.

Manda I've had blocked ducts periodically, heat & massage (eg massaging while in shower), or hot compress, and feeding have helped. Also ibuprofen if the pain is bad. Hope GP can help. My own GP is pretty useless with BFing stuff (wishes, for the millionth time, I had PD as my GP Grin).

Big waves to everyone else. Hope everyone has nice weekends planned.

x

evitas · 16/07/2011 14:18

< evitas waves at Smac - nice to see you around>

Manda I hope you are feeling better. What did the GP say?
Flip Saw your photos on FB, the 3 of you are looking great! I strongly agree with you, I would love to have PD as my GP. (maybe we can offer her an exclusive contract and she could come and work for the thread Wink )

Yesterday MissP and her gorgeous DD came to visit us, it was lovely.
I. is absolutely charming, I was amazed how she understands so many things and says so many words Shock We could really see the difference between a delicate girl and a very active and non stop boy.
We went swimming this morning, and I had forgotten how DS loves it. I definitely should take him more often.

Ok, must go back to work while DS is sleeping.
Hope everyone is well.

x

FlipFantasia · 17/07/2011 22:44

Evitas glad you had a good time with MissP and her DD. Sounds like a lovely afternoon!

hecklephone · 18/07/2011 16:18

Yay, Yay and thrice yay for Fliss and Flip's good tidings :)

Manda it does indeed sound like a blocked duct. I got them with DD2 but never with DD1 (although I did feed her for a shorter period of time). And I found they were quite common when I was trying to cut back/stop feeding altogether - is J feeding less?

I have just realised I have missed out once again on an MMMM Scottish meet - glad evitas and MissP had a good meetup anyway. We did soooo much driving from NI to home yesterday that I just couldn't face getting in the car again today for more than a jolly to the supermarket Smile. I hope I'll get to join in one of these days....Grin

We did have a lovely time in NI though - nice weather, days out, enjoyed spending time with my parents and eating their yummy food! The girls behaved brilliantly - DD1 seems to have chilled out a bit after her end-of-term hysterics and DD2 learned about a hundred new tricks, including several new words! She's also now obsessed with Peppa Pig Blush Smile.

Ok, back to work. Am doing some work from home while DH and the DDs are out but am disappointingly un-motivated to do the admin work I have on...would much rather be doing something creative Biscuit

Final thought - did anyone else LOVE the Apprentice final last night?? I picked the winner and was backing them all the way! After a long day of travelling it was fab to put my feet up, enjoy a curry and a few Wine too Grin.

BlueyDragon · 18/07/2011 16:45

Oh Flip, fantastic, fingers crossed for you.

And well done on the OFSTED, Fliss - are you all feeling better?

MissP, thank you, I missed the FB announcement cos I don't check it that frequently but have now caught up. Thanks evitas as well.

If there's a midlands meet up I'd certainly try and make it!

slimmingsarahandco · 18/07/2011 21:18

Sorry ladies i have been awol!

Just caught up with u all x

Good luck and all the best for u flip x x x x

:) cannot wait for the school hols on friday x no rushing around in the mornings!

have been in a and e tonight as rosie slammed the back door- with Elliotts thumb in the way! ouch but thankfully not broken! poor lad! he really did cry! i did however get the night off work Grin :)

MissPenteuth · 19/07/2011 09:20

Morning all :) We got back from Edinburgh yesterday and even though Izzy as good as gold on the flight I was absolutely shattered last night! We had a lovely time visiting my parents, and got to see evitas and her gorgeous DS. It's amazing seeing how grown up the babies are getting now. A Midlands meetup is a great idea, I'd definitely be up for it.

Flip I'm so pleased to hear your news. It must be an anxious time but I've got everything crossed for you :)

Manda I hope you've seen the GP and are feeling better.

Sorry to have missed you heckle but glad you had a good time in NI. I hadn't really been following The Apprentice but my parents watch it so I did see the final, it was very compelling.

Ouch sarah, poor Elliot's finger! Izzy had her first proper skinned knee at the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens this week. Then yesterday she was tearing round my Dads' house and smacked right into a cupboard. And I absolutely did not pick her up to get off the aeroplane and bump the top of her head on the overhead lockers, nope, not at all because that would make me a Bad Mummy Blush That's the thing now they're running around though; I think I'm going to have to start keeping a supply of plasters in my bag.

I really need to to think about phoning some nurseries to see if I can get a place for Izzy next March. Of course I don't actually have a job to go to yet, but there are lots of jobs around at the moment, right? Biscuit

BlueyDragon · 19/07/2011 10:05

Oh Flip, fantastic, fingers crossed for you.

Flisspaps · 19/07/2011 10:37

Flip Massive congratulations Grin

Bluey Feeling much better thank you, but still not 100%.

For those of you not on FB, DD and I were struck with what I think was norovirus on Saturday night - completely out of the blue I was sick, and just knew DD was going to follow - within minutes she too was throwing up :( followed by bouncing on the bed laughing Hmm whilst DH was out on a Stag night. DD was back to her normal self by Sunday morning - I was feeling much better yesterday but have had to close for 48 hours. The annoying thing is that my mindee had it last week and didn't come to me, yet we still caught it. Typical.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations on the visit :)

Rinders Holiday sounds fabulous, any chance of sneaking in your suitcase? I'll be ever so quiet, I promise!

MissPenteuth Glad you had a fab time in Edinburgh. Aren't skinned knees terrible? DD is sporting one at the moment, she didn't notice when she did it and ran off but I had to call her over to kiss it better so I didn't get upset check it was clean :(

Meetup sounds like a fabulous idea. Can't do the last two weekends in August though as we're on our holidays...Llandudno and Liverpool, here we come!

evitas · 20/07/2011 12:29

Good morning,

very quiet over here....
I have the decorator in putting up new wallpaper in the kitchen. I think we went a step too far... I'm not sure I like it very much Confused . Hopefully it will be a matter of time and I'll get used to it.

Hope all mums and babies are well.
x

Arcadie · 20/07/2011 23:21

Bless me MMMers for I have sinned

It has been a month or so since my last post. I am sorry. Most of you have probably spotted on here that my DSis had her twins today. All went well in the end although it has looked a bit hairy along the way. Just seen a photo and they are small and gorgeous.

Big congrats to you Flip!!!

OP posts:
MissPenteuth · 21/07/2011 08:23

Oh congratulations to your sister (and to Auntie Arcadie!) Grin, I'm so glad they're all doing well. Will you be meeting them soon?

evitas · 21/07/2011 12:48

Congratulations RKD :)
x

FlipFantasia · 21/07/2011 20:05

Massive congratulations to your sister Auntie Arcadie - I saw your announcement on FB. Such gorgeous names. Glad to hear that all is well with mum and babies Smile

Pingpong · 21/07/2011 21:06

great news Auntie RKD :)

hecklephone · 22/07/2011 12:16

Congratulations AuntieArcadie and ArcadieSis! Glad the babies have arrived safely.

It's reminding me I'll be AuntieHeckle before too long - DSIL has got another couple of months to go, but I'm sure it'll fly in!

Not much here - we seem to be suddenly trying to get DD2 to sleep in her cot, instead of co-sleeping. She's spent the last couple of nights in there but both me and DH have been up and down quite a lot resettling her. I know everyone says you should stick at it for ages, but I'm only giving it another night or two and if there's no significant improvement then it's back to bed - I can't take all the to-ing and fro-ing at night! How do people do this AND work?? Confused

On that note - am STILL waiting, watching, worrying about employment. Waiting to hear from a couple of employers re applications; watching desperately for the ideal job to come up; worrying because today there seems to be an opportunity - a number of posts are advertised today at the local paper - roughly my field of work. So do I apply? They're almost certainly FT posts, but they are journalism, which is what I want to return to (I think). Gah, it's never easy is it?? Biscuit

Right, off to continue job-hunting/launching a perfect, flexible, well-paid freelance career Hmm

Happy Friday everyone - hope you all have a good weekend! Smile

evitas · 22/07/2011 14:38

Oh heckle... my sympathies. I've also been desperate, looking everyday for the "perfect job". In my field there's nothing coming up (not even the imperfect jobs!) so I'm starting to get worried. and as you said, most are FT, which is not exactly what I wanted....
Good luck!

Shroomer · 22/07/2011 21:58

Evitas and heckle - keep plugging away. I was also getting really down about the lack of jobs out there (I'm looking for academic stuff). THEN, my ideal job got advertised on Monday, closely followed by an email inviting me for an interview (different job) in a couple of weeks time. It's like buses - you know the cliche. There's so much I want to say on here about the jobs, but I have to be careful because it's a public forum. If I get offered the job after the interview I will be in a dilemma because the job I've just applied for is the ideal one - but its closing date isn't until the end of August.

evitas · 22/07/2011 23:39

Shroomer I thought you were across the ocean having a tour of "the wire" Wink - by the way, this journal has a very interesting compilation of academic articles about the series ( if you have nothing else to read)
but thanks for your kind words... I'm also looking in academia, and I find it truly hard in my area.
I hope you get the best possible outcome. Good luck to you too

One question, is any of your DC afraid of the "haahoos" in "in the night garden"?! DS is terrified, he cries and runs away from the room... but he loves all the other characters Hmm

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
x

PacificDogwood · 24/07/2011 20:58

Just marking my place.

We are back - it was a Good Holiday although the weather was crap a bit Scottish... Hmm

No individual shout-outs tonight, but I am grinning from ear to ear about Flip's, Pixie's and ArcadieSis' respective bits of news SmileGrinSmile. Massive congratulations to you all!! (and I totally understand what you mean about not being able to be too excited about the BFP due to past experiences, Flip - the initial excitement is another vicitim of a previous MC Sad. Fingers and everything else crossed for you here xx).

Can somebody PM me Pixie's new DS' names, pretty please . Yeah, a brother for her DS1!!

evitas · 24/07/2011 23:14

PD welcome back :) Glad you had a god time but sorry about the weather.

It's 11pm and my neighbours have loud music above our bedroom :( We've just called the council's 'noise team' to see if they could come to our place and measure the volume and then (if it's above a certain level) they will go upstairs and have chat with the neighbours. They are students... we've already knocked on their door too many times and even ask their landlady id she could ask them to be more careful.

If things don't get better I might call a lawyer to see what else we can do (Sariska any advice on a good lawyer up here, who could help me with this?) ... it has been like this since they moved in February :(
