Poor you redhelen
DH sold his motorbike last year as he never got to use it - couldn't use it to go to work, and never had any time out of work because too busy doing his kid shift! That makes him sound really under the thumb - honestly, he isn't!
I used to enjoy going out on the bike with him pre-children, but as soon as dd was born, couldn't imagine taking the risk - like I became aware of my mortality. That's my age talking, I suppose

Oh no!

DH isn't going to Spanish or running club! I decided to have a bath whilst dh still at home & noticed a small part of my c-section scar was bleeding. Dashed to the nurse at the doctors to have it padded out to aid the healing and redressed. Just hope it will not get infected and heals really quickly. I've been so unlucky with this scar

Morning all and welcome to jeedaylady

Bad night here, but not due to Alice (fed at 2am and 7am )

The mice which I think are under the floorboards or something woke DH up at 12:30 or so and he then started searching for them, brought the cat up to look etc. We discovered they were quiet if the light was on. Had "discussion" with DH about sleep with light on (I really need to sleep in the dark) versus scrabbling noises (DH couldn't cope with this). He won. Alice woke at 2am, fed her, then DS woke up, needing "Daddy, more milk". Luckily Mummy was all right as Daddy was snoring for England. I then moved into the spare bedroom where it was dark. DH joined me some time later.

Feel better for getting that out . And I am dressed and everyone else is asleep (DH said he wasn't in a hurry to get to work ) so I feel a sense of tranquility.

Thank you for all suggestions on Alice and the snot - I got her weighed yesterday afternoon 10lb 1oz and spoke to the HV about the snot. She went downstairs and said we should make an appointment with the duty docotr and 10 min later we were seen and prescibed nasal drops . They seem to be helping her.

Right, am going to eat breakfast without anyone else being there and trying to (a) have milk (b) steal my food .

jaydeelady · 04/11/2005 10:33

Hi everyone, me again. Thanks all for your welcome. Don't get to use internet very often due to money worries! have to keep chatting to once a day I'm afraid otherwise DH gets a bit stressed about the bill!! I have DS of 12, DD of 10, DD of 7and half and DD now 7 weeks AAAHHHH!
DD3 is a peach and is very settled, she was 3 weeks early and a bit of a shock. labour was v v quick. couldn't sit in the car as head was there and she was born within half and hour of arriving at the hospital where the midwife asked me to give her a specimen. can you believe it? i said no but i can give you a baby right now.

Morning All

At Last! I've been trying to log on since lunchtime yesterday, my connection failed when I tried to post and has only just come back...

Missed my opportunity of going to pilates this morning as the e-mail I sent to the instructor didn't go because of the lost connection I'm spluttering with annoyance as Conrad's having a lovely sleepy morning and would have behaved himself wonderfully...

Sympathies to all those who've had broken nights last night, I didn't have mice to blame for mine, only myself. Conrad went into his cot at 10, which is an hour earlier than normal and I was so chuffed that when Noop took herself off I poured myself a glass of wine and settled down to watch 'Misery' the Stephen King chiller... I woke up frozen to the marrow at 3.30am with that horrid sleeping in the light sore eye feeling and realised I still had to do the last-thing tidying up, put washing in drier and unload the dishwasher...

My wonderful little baby hadn't woken (I still had the monitor on) so as I went to bed properly I roused him for a feed, slipped him back into his cot and he didn't wake till dd came in to see us before she went to school

I feel so silly as I really meant to get on with some work last night.

Cabe · 04/11/2005 11:30

Hi Jaydeelady... Welcome to the thread My dd's 14 later this month, it's lovely to have the big gap as she's so independent and very helpful, I bet your little brood love having the new baby around.

RH poor you, hope the scar starts to mend properly now, glad your dh stayed around to help.

Oh yes, Helenemjay - when I read your friend was pregnant already, I have to admit to a tiny flutter of I'm so loving having Conrad I kind of hope I get pregnant again within the next year

It'll have to be another 'postal' conception though!!!! dp and I don't see enough of eachother for any rampant ravishing!

Redhelen · 04/11/2005 11:59

Hello!

Trying not to panic! hope scar will finally sort itself out! Brothers wedding in 2 weeks and Spain in 3 - so hope not to be on Antibiotics then as I'd like a drinky! - Have not had any alcohol since Christmas Day due to ttc, pregnancy, antibiotics and tiredness since!

Rachel slept from 11pm until 5am!! She is fantastic and so cute!!! Have to admit to a restless night myself though!!

Fireworks tonight - no not me and dh - real ones!!!

Cabe · 04/11/2005 12:18

RH - Hope there'll be fireworks of both kinds

milward · 04/11/2005 12:32

jaydeelady - know how busy you must be!! mine are 8, 4, 2yrs & 5wks - never have a rest it seems!!

Helenemjay · 04/11/2005 12:49

Cabe i have to say if i found out i was pregnant anytime soon i would cut my head off dd is our 3rd and last - i have to admit im a little worried about how i might feel if i get broody again! i got pregnant first time at 20 then just before ds1 was 2 i got pregnant again and the just before ds2 was 2 i got pregnant again! what am i going to do when dd gets to 2??? it about that time when i need that new baby 'fix' my poor dp would kill himself!! - he never wannted any kids at all - so 3 is good going i guess! - or good nagging

Cabe · 04/11/2005 12:56

Hee hee hee Helenemjay... Your hubby will have to get himself some Jedi Chastity Pants !!!

Redhelen · 04/11/2005 13:06

I would really like another baby, so would dh - I just don't want the pregnanacy bit!!!!!!

Redhelen · 04/11/2005 13:07

Or the labour!!!

Redhelen · 04/11/2005 13:09

Or the Inevitable c-section - turning into slow healing scar -Sorry having a rant!!

Cabe · 04/11/2005 13:18

It's ok RH, it was only a teensy rant!

I know what you mean about the pregnancy and labour... mine were so much harder this time round compared to my first when I was a yoof!

It's just so Lurverly being a mum to a tiny babe again

Helenemjay · 04/11/2005 13:22

Its alright Redhelen, rant away! i had a c-section with all 3 of mine so the whole recovery thing would NOT be welcome again thats for sure! - but, i do love little babies lets face it - whats my option? stop now and get a grip or keep going until my house looks like a bloody creche! - stop now, stop now!
Jedi Chastity Pants - LOL! if i get as broody when dd is 2 as i did with the others he will have to leave town! lol!! I cant imagine never having anymore!! - dont let dp hear me say that!

pooka · 04/11/2005 14:11

We've always said we'd like 3 - 2 down, 1 to go! But I don't know how I'd feel about "that's it". The whole time is so special, pregnancy, labour (even labour) and then the early weeks. TBH I'm not immensely keen on the tiny baby stage, perked up at about 12 weeks last time. But the newborn smell.....aaaahhh. And fluffy hair and creases at the wrists.

OP posts:
Helenemjay · 04/11/2005 14:20

Thats it pooka!! - Exactly!! the smell! - was sat sniffing dd head earlier and i WISH i could bottle and keep it forever!! ooohhhh they smell sooo good! 9 sorry if i sound like a nutter! )

beatie · 04/11/2005 15:59

I went to a great toddler group this morning. It was in a Sports hall in a leaisure centre. There was ahuge bouncy castle, lots of crash mats, soft play, hoops, beam, bars, little tykes toys, balls etc... and the children could go on what they wanted when they wanted. It lasted 3 hours, so you could come and go as you please. And, people were friendly. It didn't matter being there and not knowing anyone. There must have been over 40 children running around.

It was great to give some individual attention to dd1. Alice slept in her carseat by the side of the hall, lined up with all the other babies in carseats. She woke up briefly and smiled at some random people who were cooing over her. I think this will become a weekly event for us. Mind you, dd1 still managed to have a 'won't get into my carseat' tantrum when we got back to the car.

Alice was quite unsettled last night. She was awake for an hour, twice, during the night. She seems so gripey. Anyone else's baby? I don't know what to do to help.

Redhelen - sorry to hear about your scar - hope you're healed soon.

Question How many children do you have and how many children do you/DP/DH want?

I have two. I want to stop at two. DH wants 3 or more! although originally said he wanted two. Hmmm, he's not the one at home looking after them - although he would like to be.

pooka · 04/11/2005 16:16

I have my nose practically always at the back fo ds's neck - in my family it's called "nitching". We all like a good nitch!

OP posts:
Redhelen · 04/11/2005 16:53

I love nussling Rachels head feeling her soft hair and enjoying her lovely smell - glad I'm not a weirdo!

I'm happy with 2 Beatie - but dh wants 3!! There is no way I'm having another. Had a rough time having Rachel and I'm fast approaching 40!!! !!

Cabe · 04/11/2005 17:57

It's the age thing that makes me want another (one or even two!) quite soon RH - I'm 37 next birthday...

Beatie answers to your questions - I've got the two babes - dd 13 and ds 6 weeks

I want more especially as I've figured I'm really rather good at this and we make lovely babies!!!

DP wouldn't wish away another but is far more practical/material than me and is VERY career minded - he's got another 6 or so years to work out his 25 years in the force and knows where he wants to be in that time - I'm happy to gradually work away at my studies and take a PGCE when family demands allow

I love nuzzling Conrad's fluffy hair too

KiwiKate · 04/11/2005 20:25

I have 2, and neither dh nor I want another. My second pg was too hard to contemplate another (although the water birth was an amazing experience). DH and I are not the best with tiny baby stage. We thought ds got really cute at one year, and has got even cuter since (now two and a half) even when pushing the boundaries.
Might have been because he was a very colicy baby, though. Grace is already a charmer at 6 weeks, though. Actaully we weren't too keen on number two, but didn't want ds to be an only. Frankly, I admire people that could cope with more than two. For us having a one to one parent/child ratio is good.

Beatie - your dd probably didn't want to leave the play group. When ds gets reluctant to leave I tell him something like this "I know you don't want to go. I don't want to either. I was having such fun with you here. I think we should come back again, don't you ..." We then chat about how great it was and that we are going to go back. I found it really helped just to let ds know that I understood what he was trying to say by getting antsy. It works especially if I get down on his level and look into his eyes and tell him. DS used to get upset leaving the pool or park or playcentre. He does not any more, but if I see him looking a little reluctant I pre-empt him by having the "talk" with him, and he totally settles down and focuses on what a great time we had.

Redhelen · 04/11/2005 20:58

Hello!

Back from fire works - very good - had really good time with ds. Was able to walk the mile there and mile back too!!! which is great I'm getting my strengh and stomach muscles back to normal, nearly 7 weeks post op! (please please the 1cm of my scar that is playing up sorts itself soon!)

The village school is on top of a hill which looks over the town - last year (when we went to see the school fireworks)as we walked home with all the fire works going on around us and looking all magical -I made a wish - to have a baby! and it obviously came true! Encouraged son to do the same this year - and he wants to fly?!!
He also asked for a brother !

milward · 04/11/2005 21:47

I'd love another little one! Have four now & am used to complete chaos & no sleep or rest!! Remind me I said this when everyone is throwing up & I've not had any sleep at all (has happened!)Always stuck at the small age with one kid doing potty training & the other bf.
