It was getting desperate and since MrsMCJnr suggestion came in last and I was being lazy I just went for that - hope that is ok.

LaT - sounds exhausting! Can relate a bit as DS1 hardly stops talking/asking questions/commenting on life. The 1st 2 weeks of holidays when DH was still working away & H was at sch my ears took a battering!

Sometimes i have to come up with an excuse to send him away 'for a job' or something to give me a break. I call it his 'woodpecker-ing' Grin

All good here, M sleeping through, yey and there's chocolate in the house Grin

latrucha · 25/08/2011 08:25

She does have to know everything NOW but she's lovely. She has started imitating me, so for example if I warn her I'm losing patience with her she tells me, 'I don't want you to be naughty mummuy,' in a warning sort of voice. It does help me not to lose it!

Yay for M sleeping through! yay for chocolate!
Lily - S just got it in the end too. She does still babble alot when she's not sure. SO this morning she was complaining that I wasn't sitting in her room all night every night (which she'd like). When I asked her why she couldn't articulate it so just babbled.

madmouse · 25/08/2011 10:57

Nathan stood alone for 6 seconds this morning with his new splints on Grin Grin Grin

walking is not great as yet but that was expected. Standing is more stable Smile

latrucha · 25/08/2011 14:16

Fabulous! Well done both of you. It must take a lot of determination and patience.

Fillybuster · 25/08/2011 18:35

Hurrah for Nathan Grin! Sounds as though the new shoes and splints are doing their job?

LaT....sigh...yes, I know the feeling...

JKS Grin yay for sleeping and...thank you! 'Woodpeckering' Grin So much nicer a way to describe what A does constantly....will use...

Simpson - have a lovely trip

Having 3 child-free days in Brighton with dh as our 10th anniversary celebration. It is seriously utter bliss GrinGrinGrin I had a bath at midday today for no reason other than that I could. And I stayed in until I was bored. Shame we have to go home tomorrow Wink

latrucha · 25/08/2011 20:14

Isn't it incredible how ten minutes of mayhem can distort an otherwise marvellous day. Our day was idyllic until it came time to cook dinner. I asked DD and DS to stay in the other room (which is essentially the same room divided and they can see me) while I cooked dinner. What did I get? Shouting screaming and demanding. Sigh. and did I rise above it serenely? Did I heck. Went back to idyllic again but bloody hell. I spend all day doing things with them and they can't give me a few mintues peace to cook tea?

Filly - you deserve it. Enjoy every minute.

AngeChica · 03/09/2011 11:36

hello all! quiet isn't it? Are your LO's starting nursery around now I wonder? DS starts on 12th - they have a staggered start. He has an afternoon place which doesn't fit in very well with my working pattern (sigh) but I'm just happy he has a place as it is a lovely first school (we still have 3 tier school system in this part of the world, so first schools only go up to Y4 then they go to a middle school). Doesn't guarantee a place in reception next year - a few parents got turned down on appeal because it is so popular. Anyway DS should be fine - he has had 2 terms at pre-school so should settle OK.
We had a lovely 3 weeks in E Europe. My dad is doing amazingly well considering, after recovery from the op he had 6 wks daily harrowing RT/CT but is recuperating quicker than the norm. I did my sponsored swim on Windermere in June and it was a fantastic experience. Now I'm training to do the London Marathon next April (gulp) I need to raise a further £2,500 for the charity Brain Tumour UK to keep my place though!!! Shock Anyway good luck to all our fab 3 year olds starting nursery. DS will look incredibly grown up in his uniform. I feel I'm bound to shed a tear.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/09/2011 14:00

E starts on Monday. He has been there before as it is a childrens centre and he went whilst I was working. He seems excited and he told me the other day that he is going to stay by himself but he will miss me.

I am really goingg to miss him but am looking forward to a little me time, because even with Em I feel like I will have more time for me at least until he gives up naps (which is a LONG way off).

The only thing that will change for Nathan is that he will go to special school 3 mornings instead of two. He's going back Tuesday. I hope his taxi team will be the same as last year, as that will make it easier to go back. He loves his school though. He will still go to nursery two days when I work so he'll be out of the house 5 days a week!

simpson · 03/09/2011 20:12

M starts nursery school on the 20th although she has a settling in session this thursday for an hour which I go with her to.

She doesn't have to wear a uniform but tbh a lot of the kids do and as I have the logoed school jumpers that J has grown out of she will wear those with trackie bottoms or leggings.

Got back from holiday today and had a fab time, weather beautiful. We have already booked the same place for next yr!!

J had his birthday there (cannot beleive my baby is 6!!)

M gave me a bit of a Shock yesterday as she was playing in a rock pool which was deceptively deep in the middle (on sand not rock) although she was not out of her depth iyswim, maybe it went up to her chest....

Anyway she slipped and fell down in the middle of the pool and her head went right under and she went all limp and just lay floating under the water not trying to get up iyswim.

I have read about this reflex before but it was scary to watch, even though I got to her v quickly as I was right next to her.

But I reckon she was still under the water for about 5seconds and made no attempt to get up herself Shock

Luckily because she was relaxed she did not panic and was fine, but just shows how easy it is for kids to drown in just a few cms of water Shock

Lilyloo · 03/09/2011 20:18

Simpson Shock poor M , or should that be poor you bet she had no idea. How scary it really does take a second.
Glad you enjoyed hol.

Ange well done Smile

Martha will be coming back to pre school full time mornings with me again this year. Think she will have a shock though as she always played with the older kids who left for school at summer.

JKSLtd · 03/09/2011 20:20

Simps - Shock that sounds terrifying!

H had built up to 5 full days at his SN pre-sch/sch by the end of last term so he'll be straight into it from Monday.
He loves it, the bus, the uniform, everything.
He learns so much there too so we really want him to go back.

T is less keen about going back but he does love sch when he's there.

ANd I am seriously looking forward to some 'girl-time' with M, hoping to get her into some kind of daily routine with naps as she's all over the place at the mo, just naps whenever and wherever, it would be nice to have some predictability.
Got loads of plans of stuff that needs doing once the boys are out of the house, starting with all of their clothes, they have tonnes everywhere but lots that doesn't fit!

simpson · 03/09/2011 20:39

cannot believe J is going into yr2 Shock

It only seems like yesterday that he started reception Hmm

He is desperate to get back to school, mainly because he wants to hand out his party invites for his party on 17th sept Grin

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/09/2011 13:02

First nursery day done. He stayed by himself till 11.15. He made a picture and seems to have had lots of fun. The teahcer said he was a bit quiet but he is like that really jsut likes to play.

latrucha · 05/09/2011 18:16

I hope all your LOs had a good day at nursery / preschool.

Ange / Simpson - glad you had lovely hols. Glad to hear your Dad is doing well Ange. Very in awe of your marathon. I wanted to do one once but did my knees in as didn;t have proper shoes (idiot me). Maybe I'll try again when D is at nursery.

Sabela went back to hers and, unusually for her, was nervous and reticent. It didn't help that a lot of her friends have moved up. It was all a big secret when she came home, but she did open up a bit at bath time. I'm sure she'll get into it. She says she's happy to go.

She is getting really fed up of D waking her at night. She says she wants to sleep on the sofa!

Have any of yours had a UTI recently? S is complaining of soreness but I can't see any other symptoms and her urine isn't cloudy. A little friend of hers she was playing with last week has one though.

Madmouse - how's Nathan now?

latrucha · 05/09/2011 19:46

Simpson - that sounds terrifying with M. What's the reflex you mentioned?

JKSLtd · 05/09/2011 20:58

Good first day back here too :)

Though Wed morning will be the real test as no DH that morning (or Thurs)

simpson · 05/09/2011 21:22

LaT - think its the mammalian diving reflex, body just goes limp as its trying to conserve oxygen rather than fight to get out iyswim.

M back at playgroup today which she was pleased about (they are letting her attend until she starts nursery school on 20th.

latrucha · 05/09/2011 21:41

Whoah Simpson. Thanks for that. I have spent the summer looking at D leaning in over the egde of the paddling pool, reaching for a watering can, thinking, 'So that's how they drown in two inches of water, but why don't the flip over?'

So, now I know. And I do mean I was sitting next to D watching him do this making sure he didn't fall. It was difficult to phrase it properly.

simpson · 05/09/2011 21:59

LaT - I exactly what you mean, I was right next to M when it happened and hoisted her out by her arm, sent a small toddler flying in the process Blush Toddler was fine btw, was not in the water

A friend who lives on a boat had told me about the reflex as she is totally paranoid about it, living right on the water but it does still freak you when you see it iyswim Sad

J very excited about tomorrow as my dad is taking him out for the afternoon to let him loose in a toy shop to chose his birthday presssie, have warned my dad to steer him towards something he will play with after about 5mins (ie playmobil) will have to see what he comes home with Hmm

latrucha · 05/09/2011 22:04

Ben 10 bits of rubbish? Grin

simpson · 05/09/2011 23:17

Oh God I hope not!!! Although atm he is into power rangers so its likely to be under that theme

JKSLtd · 06/09/2011 09:22

SImps - we are Power Rangers (even H is learning those words!) or Transformers after he got one for his birthday still loves a good bit of Ben 10 too (H knows him too!).
THough occasionally I find him watching Strawberry Shortcake or Tinkerbell on tv so he's not totally testosteroned-up Grin

Wow, M is still asleep! Sadly I will have to break my First Rule of babies and wake her up tomorrow to get T to school on time!

simpson · 06/09/2011 16:38

I am waiting to see what tat toy J comes home with....

Just as J was leaving, M very nicely asked J to get a barbie doll Grin

My dad and J due back any moment then we are off for McD's Grin
