We're having a welcome to the world thing in a couple of weeks time- saved the top tier of our wedding cake for it (honeymoon baby!) and will have some fizz with friends. No christening as we're not religious either. Just a laidback day of it with friends I think.

Elijah is now almost too long to fit into his 3-6 month clothes (at 11 weeks) but the next size up swamp him. What to do?!

Muser · 16/06/2011 20:47

Baby Gap clothes are on the long side, as are H&M I think. You can also cut the feet off sleep suits if needed! Long babies are tricky. The only reason I've managed to get trousers to stay up is by using cloth nappies!

No christenings here, I'm not christened myself. I did think about a naming ceremony but think we'll just have a lovely family party for her first birthday.

cherub what a lovely thing your mum did. I lost my dad a couple of weeks before DS came along, I would have loved something like that. No christenings here either, i like the party idea but too lazy to organise anything! Also not at all religious. And can't be bothered with another reason for a ton of thank you letters to write!!

pettyprudence · 16/06/2011 21:52

H&M clothes are great because they do 1-2, 2-4, 4-6 month so they are great to mix in with the regular 0-3 & 3-6 months sizing that other shops do as they bridge the gap nicely when one size is too small and the next is too big. Also organic t-shirts for £1.50!

sam26oscar · 16/06/2011 22:07

sorry but did chuckle at 1Catherine1 and ckny
i was that woman who said to another mum with a 8/9 month old " ooh number 4 on the way?" as she walked towards me with a what looked like bump...and her belly button sticking out...turns out she had an umbillical hernia Blush
No christenings for us either will let them decide if they want to be christened when they're older.
I have just put away all of Cassie's 0-3 month stuff and put some on ebay which took me forever, it really is a palaver uploading and writing a description then looking at preview only to realise the photo didn't upload.grrr! It was quite sad putting it all in boxes as she is getting bigger and sometimes wish they could stay newborns for longer!!

Had Cassie weighed today and she weighs in now at 12lb 13oz at exactly 16 weeks today Smile She's just started to try and laugh now!! She especially likes the song "shakin ur ass" couldn't tell you who its by or anything else about it apart from when i sing that along with "i got too much junk in my trunk" she laughs at me!!
well, thats it for me tonight she was up at 1am and 5am last night which hasn't happened for a few weeks..please don't let her have the sleep regression i couldn't cope Sad

Cheeseandbiscuits · 16/06/2011 23:25

Hello all. Glad to hear every one is doing well. Things going well here, we have hit 15 weeks old! Crikey., time is flying. Izzy now loves to roll, which makes nappy changing more challenging! She has also shot up overnight and suddenly none of her 0-3 leggings fit. WHich is a shame as she has outfits only worn once. Will have to start digging out all the 3-6month bits she was given! We went swimming again today, huge success phew! She sleeps through the night in her big cot although I have noticed she has gone from 7am wake up time to 6am. I am hoping it is not the sleep regression setting in. I think we may be changing to hungry milk soon to delay weaning - she is so hungry all the time still! She stares at people eating and has even leaned into grab food once or twice.

We are going to have a christening, need to start planning.

catherine I can't believe someone said that to you, How rude! Poor you.

sam laughed at the thought of your little one enjoying "shaking your ass". I sing that to Isobel when I stand her on her feet - she loves it too! And "I like big butts..." Hmmm

Kpidgeon Izzy is only a shortie but I have noticed the supermarket clothes are very good value and seem to be quite big.

GeekLove · 16/06/2011 23:30

Time does fly! Here we are at 3+months. M is still a porky chunkier and has outgrown all his newborn stuff. He is now 13lb 7 which to me is massive. He smiles and shouts and looks around now.
Meanwhile we all have a nasty cold.'DH is currently with DS1 who has been crying for the last half hour and refusing medication. Can't say I will miss this period of 2 under 3 much at times like these...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 17/06/2011 13:27

Cheese that is a good sign that she is interested in food. lol at grabbing it. Should make weaning a breeze when it comes around.

I love H&M. My SILs have always bought the DC stuff from there and almost eveything that E has worn in his first few months have been from there. I cut off the feet to sleepsuits weeks ago but he is starting to look a little Robinson Crusoe so might treat him to some new ones.

All going well here although our fortnight of sleeping 6.30-5.30/6.30 is over and we nowhave one wake up but am just rolling with it and dont deel too exhausted.

cherub59 · 17/06/2011 13:49

geeklove it will get easier. I had 3 under 3 1/2,for a while and 2 under 2. You will be glad of the short age gap when they grow up really close and play together! I think when the little one is 3 months it starts getting a lot easier!

Similar prob clothes wise here... O is v long (and round!) in the body with short little legs so is in 6-12m vests and 3-6m trousers.

Anyone found socks that actually stay on???

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/06/2011 14:54

Yep gap socks are awesome!

Lozario · 17/06/2011 17:03

I second Gap socks.

I have 2 under 2 until Sunday, when DS turns two. Terrible twos have already started - I don't know what he'd do without the word "no"!!

pettyprudence · 17/06/2011 18:39

I pull tesco socks right up to Arthurs knees Grin He is a chubby little bugger though Grin

sam26oscar · 17/06/2011 21:29

i guess i must be a lazy slob cos its not that often that i get Cassie dressed in anything other than babygros!! they have got so many cute and colourful ones around and they look so cute in them and warm that unless wer'e going somewhere where shes on show she pretty much has duvet days every day!!

Now think that the 4 month regression is settling in now as the little minx woke at 2am and 5.45am...urgh not used to having to get up that often. Am trying an experiment tonight and have bathed her and put her to bed about 1.5hr later than usual to see if i can stretch her out to at least 3am then technically i would only get up once..well here's hoping!!

whats going on with sky?? think its the weather was enjoying My Family on BBC1 then hoping to catch Criminal minds on sky living +1!!

Well i hope everyone has a good weekend and don't let your DH's use "its Fathers Day" to get out of jobs too much on sunday Wink

Lozario · 18/06/2011 21:59

sam there's no way DH will get a look-in tomorrow what with it being DS's birthday!! Weirdly, he was born 2 days before fathers day two years ago, and Lara was born 2 days before mothers day!

1Catherine1 · 19/06/2011 01:50

Anya only wore sleepsuits constantly when in newborn size Sam but thanks to family gifts when she moved to 0-3 months she had sleepsuits for night time and outfits for day time. Made it easier for nappy changing when out and about. Now she is in the awkward stage between 0-3 and 3-6 we're mixing and matching and outfits are just easier to do that with. I've put all the 0-3 sleepsuits away as they're really tight but most of the 3-6 ones are still massively too big.

Anyway - it's the middle of the night, I'm off to bed. nn all.

haloflo · 19/06/2011 09:01

Happy 2nd Birthday lozario's DS

Happy Father's Day too to all the husbands and partners.

Hannah wears sleepsuits every night but I dress her in leggings and tshirts most days. I love her in sleepsuits but everyone else I know seems to dress their baby up a lot more so I sadly decided to follow the crowd.

Morning was at 6am today. I can cope with the night wakings but really hate early rising. (I know some of you probably consider 6am a lie in but normally I get to 7/7.30 before its wake up time!)

KPidgeon · 19/06/2011 09:41

Halo 6am would be a godsend! My little blighter fed at 11.30pm, fed at 1am then woke at 2am and was very vocal (not crying) so had to lull him/feed him back to sleep for ages. Then promptly woke at 5am and decided it was morning. I am looooooonging for him to sleep a bit more at night. If this goes on we will be trying to introduce solids as soon as we can (4/5 months)

sam26oscar · 19/06/2011 09:46

Happy Birthday to Lozario's DS !!

I'm with you on 6am being an early start to the day haloflo our day is usually 7am and thats only because DS wakes us, although flippin typical, last night Cassie did 7.30pm til 4.15am (the first time sleeping longer than 5 hrs since the sleep regression ) and that was because the bloody cat fell from the window ledge in our room and woke her up...oh i could have shot her..the cat obviously!!!!
Then she was a monkey and tried to tell me that it was getting up time nah i don't think so pussycat!! How about you get into bed with me and then sleep til 8.30 instead!!!!
Well, this morning i am taking Cassie and DS i don't know why i i keep using DS when everyone knows DD name!! anyway we're off for Cassie first swim today Smile Grandad is coming to help as DS just wants to divebomb in the big pool!! Then i will take dad out for lunch as mum is at my sisters helping her unpack hundreds of boxes!
Hope you all have good days Smile

1Catherine1 · 19/06/2011 14:37

DS is Oscar isn't it? I'm sure you told us that months ago... hence the sam26oscar.

I think I'm lucky RE sleeping since Anya is quite predictable - wakes for first feed at 5am then goes back to bed till 8 to 9am. She doesn't go to bid till about 11pm though.

Good luck with the swimming Sam - I'm taking Anya on Wednesday and that will be our first time. Dreading it a little as she hates baths but I'm hoping she'll like it as I'll be in with her as well as her baby friend and her mum. :) Do you take any sort of floats - rings or armbands? I have a baby inflatable ring (with seat) for 3 to 6 month olds do people take them or do you just hold baby?

haloflo · 19/06/2011 20:46

kpidgeon Ouch at your night. I hope that your DH spent fathers day with his DS giving you chance to grab a couple of extra hours in bed.

sam I hope Cassie enjoys her first swimming session. We are hoping to go in a couple of weeks (the man from my local swimtime said that they are starting a new class soon)

catherine Hannah neither loves nor hates her bathtime. She just looks shocked the whole time. Hopefully swimming with Anya will be a totally different story.

My day was really good. I had a massage for the first time ever. Pregnancy, bf, playing on the floor with Hannah has given me a bad back. It was brillant, both to have a little time to myself and to ease my tension.

shreddinghippo · 19/06/2011 20:53

Evening ladies.
Changing subject completely, but who is still up for the meeting on the 28th? Those of you who live in/near London, it would be really great if we can get it sorted so there are more than one or two of us turning up...

Its on the FB page, I'm really freaked out at the idea of meeting in person RL Mumsnetters, but am looking forward to putting faces to names and seeing some babies. Smile

sam26oscar · 19/06/2011 21:38

1catherine1 yes it is Oscar maybe i should change my name now to Oscar 26Cassie!!! Funny thing is i'm no where near 26!!
Cassie loved her swimming this morning and was quite happy sat on grandads lap whilst me and O were playing in front of her Smile i then put her on tummy facing me and she went wild kicking her legs!! She does love bathtime so i wasn't expecting her to kick off, although typical the baths were cooler than normal so only stayed in 15 mins, then she screamed when i got her dressed and promptly fell asleep in her car seat leaving me time to have hot shower and wash hair Wink

shreddinghippo how do i get the fb page?? is there anyone living near north somerset on here???

Cassie has started to watch me eating which is very off putting when a large cream cake is making its way to my mouth!!!! The H.V told me that the 4 month regression often confuses parents into thinking baby needs weaning, so i am really hoping to continue BF til i come back from Spain at end of July.I don't really fancy taking all the crap that goes with weaning!!

Is anyone planning on doing the BLW??
I'm afraid i'm from the old school and do baby rice and pureed foods, but to be honest i don't really know much about the baby led weaning apart from if the baby can pick it up they can eat it. I would really worry about choking.

well am trying to watching Scott and Bailey on ITV and write on here best go and catch up!!

1Catherine1 · 20/06/2011 00:00

Facebook page click "ask to join" and someone will accept you...

Suddenly Anya's feeds are back to 30 minutes to an hour long! Also took me ages to get her to sleep tonight - it's like we've taken a massive step backwards!

cherub59 · 20/06/2011 06:53

Seem to have spent all night feeding and we've not hit 4 months .... Hope we don't regress furtherGrin

Still he's cute so I don't really mind!

1Catherine1 · 20/06/2011 08:19

Cherub - that's how they get away with it! If it wasn't for the cuteness we wouldn't do half of the stuff we do... I've had 6 hours of broken sleep but I'm still smiling because she's giggling at me :)
