well he enjoyed shoving his hands in it Grin he doesnt like it at all when you try and spoon feed him, wants to do it all himself!

Cosmosis · 07/03/2011 13:09

and no, you're not being pfb about it!

AlpinePony · 07/03/2011 13:20

That's a great idea about scrambled eggs cunty as I want to try him on something a bit more solid this evening but don't want to give him meat yet. Maybe a little salmon in his egg too. Although fish poos make my nostrils convulse. :(

CUNextTuesday · 07/03/2011 15:06

Cheese will get the dairy in him too

Why not meat though? Blended up with carrot or peppers and onion it is very digestible. I just add a bit of water too it before it goes into the microwave to make it a less firm consistency. At the moment dinners are pork and spud with apple and herbs.

Normally no problem cunty, but as he's still throwing up one meal in four I suspect his tummy is still feeling a bit delicate - so just want something really easy and "light".

CUNextTuesday · 07/03/2011 15:42

Gotcha. Thought you were a protein-resister. Grin

FP 73 year old horsey blokes are all like that, and only get more letcherous with age. Tis all part of the fun - you know they are harmless. Your mini break sounds fab, btw.

LG has just started experiments in solids this week, which he seems to be enjoying with gusto. Only thing is, he hasn't had a poo since his first solid meal - just lots of really smelly farts! TT had meat from the start, and now will only eat ham, sausage, steak, venison, salami, etc. And so much cheese she will look like a block of cheese soon! She is a veg-refusnik though. The only veg she will eat is beans or unidentifiable orange things in stew (ie carrots or swede in gravy.) Fish is also out unless it is fish fingers. I'm hoping to direct LG more toward a healthier balanced diet. (I am Mrs Anti-processed food, so it is hard work dealing with a child who won't eat my food, only plastic-looking stuff.)

Am slightly zonked atm. LG has taken to singing and giggling from about 3am onwards, and then refusing to sleep during the day but instead wailing about how tired he is, while I try all the tricks I know to make him sleep. Am fed up of rocking the pram or taking him for a really long drive. Hmm

Muser · 07/03/2011 20:27

Ok, time for a good bloke tale. TBG has just made me pancakes. A day early because he's out tomorrow. And he has ordered my dad a webcam off Amazon. Dad had to have an operation the other week and has been in hospital for a week. He wasn't able to come and visit beforehand and not sure when he can come now. He's in the wilds of Scotland and living on a building site so not easy for us to go him. With a webcam we can do some Skype goodness. He's pretty miserable because of the op and not seeing his granddaughter yet. He'd normally have been on the first plane down.

hurrah for good blokes! I might make pancakes tomorrow as I have plenty of eggs, but scotch ones.

CluckyKate · 07/03/2011 22:26

Very very jealous of the mini-break FP - sounds totally fabulous.

Hungry baby in this house....think me nips might drop off. Am hoping he's tanking himself up for some decent sleep tonight [optimist emoticon]

Hope the sicky babies recover soon. Sounds particularly hideous for you Alps...is a long time to be dealing with vomiting made worse by utterly predictable male dickheadishness.

V interested in joining one of the meets - will message on t'other place when I get a chance.

Gotta go - the boy is screaming and MrCluck is clearly not handling it well so need to intervene.

AlpinePony · 08/03/2011 07:39

There's nothing up for discussion kate - it's already assumed you're coming! Grin reggie has been asked to locate a location suitable for middle-aged haggared mothers with hundreds of screaming boys.

medee A veritable taste sensation then. I'm always a little disappointed when you log on after a 10 hour break - because I assume you've been off laying! :)

Cosmosis · 08/03/2011 10:28

Artie really not got the hang of this food lark at all - all my rl friends baybees are busy troughing everything, mine is defective! Grin

AlpinePony · 08/03/2011 11:09

Boob mad that boy! Wink

Backinthebox · 08/03/2011 11:13

Cos don't worry about it just yet - he is only 6 months and just beginning. They all go through phases anyway.

Shovelling it down is not necessarily a good thing. What goes in must come out, and LG has not pooed since before starting solids at the weekend and is still happy to shovel more in. This can only end in a poo-splosion disaster! And could be the reason for him being so grumpy and not sleeping atm.

BTW. My bibs tip for first-timers - Silly Billyz fleece bibs are the only bibs you need. They are pricey, but they rinse out and dry so quickly, and don't stain like cotton bibs. We went through dozens of bibs with TT before we discovered them, and then we bought just a couple of long sleeved ones and never needed any more after that - one on the baby, one on the radiator drying and that was it. They would have been good enough for LG too, but I have bought him some new ones as OH has drawn the line at putting pink bibs on him.

Cosmosis · 08/03/2011 11:35

boxy I aint worried don't worry :)

Ta for bib reccs though, deffo need longsleeved ones. He may not have got the hang of eating yet, but he's got the hang of playing with his food that's fo sho

Yikes for coming poonami for you, hope it's on the oh's watch!

AlpinePony · 08/03/2011 11:53

haha boxer - you know it's true - it's AAAAALLLL going to come out sooner or later. Probably when you're out and about and it's not convenient of course! Hmm Constipation = grumpy baby fo sho.

We on the other hand had a relatively solid poo this morning which wasn't over his shoulders and requiring a full bedding change along with clothes. I call this a result.

Medee · 08/03/2011 17:08

no laying here yet, Alps!

Backinthebox · 08/03/2011 21:20

LG has had less than a week of weaning, and now thinks he is an expert of food. Everything is fair game. I am now fishing anything and everything out of his mouth as he rams all sorts of stuff in his mouth now. This would not be such a problem but I have a 3 year old who leaves her stuff everywhere. Hot favourite atm though is anything that has paper in it - colouring in pads, books, magazines, etc. TT was never like this - is it a boy thing?

What is hilarious is the way he gets all excited when he sees food and reaches for the spoon with both hands. What's not so funny is when he manages to grab it and then flick the food at me. Hmm

SilverSky · 08/03/2011 21:38
CluckyKate · 08/03/2011 23:16

Give him cake Box - then at least you can eat whatever he chucks at you Grin

Backinthebox · 08/03/2011 23:21

No cake left round here! Wink

CluckyKate · 09/03/2011 10:11

Oh yeah, we ate them all didn't we [fatso]

Well today I have had expressing success in preparation for a night at the pub with Boxer. Managed to get 2.5 oz out which is good, no??? Well, looks like quite a lot for ickle baby anyway.

Cosmosis · 09/03/2011 10:47

that's pretty good clucks.
