*or not our

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:13

Scones to your last question "yes" but then I don't care anymore either Grin It shall pass too...
BC glad you have the cure (like IC I have the other end contaminated quite often Blush)
DH is -snoring- watching TV on the floor of the living room shall I leave him to it or forcefully move him to the spare bedroom? (no way he can sleep with me with that amount of noise!)

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:13

snoring even

SconesForTea · 25/03/2011 20:15

Move him! All snoring men to the spare room immediately Grin

BabyGiraffes · 25/03/2011 20:21

I got my wine... tehehe Grin So no more posting tonight or I may write about seriously considering selling dh on ebay last week (that super moon really did affect me) Grin

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:23

Leave him. He's watching tv Grin never wake up a snoring man as he'll be grumpy agter that (DS is also grumpy when I wake him up from his 4.30 to 5pm nap which make me wonder if it's better to have a grumpy baby without a nap or one with a nap Confused )

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:24

BG Shock tell us more about it!!!!

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:26

BG are we sisters? I tried to sell DD2 and DH today! Grin

PenguinArmy · 25/03/2011 20:27

I'm thinking of applying to jobs in industry instead of uni labs.

At least I'm not afraid of overtime as standard any more and I can get enough pay to keep DH at home then it would be worth it.

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:32

PA if you think you'll be happy and enjoying it, why not? I went from studying tourism and becoming a tour guide to now work for the States in an admin kind of job. So you never know Smile

Bearcrumble · 25/03/2011 20:32

I guess it is a bit of a heresy to advocate waking babies from naps - but I think only in this specific situation of transitioning from two naps a day to one it could help. Obviously you judge it on what sort of night they've had and what time they woke up but if it looks as though you're heading for a very late second nap then perhaps waking them up is an option.

Scones Sorry your DD has had thrush as well. We are the thrushy thread! With regard to frequency of poo - on average twice a day I think. Also sometimes with quite a lot of undigested fruit and veg in it. I think that's just because they swallow big bits sometimes, because they don't have molars to grind it down. That's pure conjecture though. We had a couple of five poo days when he was catching up on eating after feeling better from tummy bug. It was madness. Huge poos. Five huge poos.

shrodinger Can you leave him on the floor of the living room and retreat to the bedroom yourself? (the main bedroom, not the spare one).

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/03/2011 20:37

Yes, Bc, it's a mathematical problem which relates to when she wakes etc. DD will usually sleep after a minimum of 3 hours of awake time from the overnight sleep, but won't get tired again for at least 4 hours after she's woken from a nap. And if she wakes later than 3.30pm, it can be tough to get her off to sleep at 7.30pm (and sometimes if she wakes earlier). I could put her to bed later, but I would like to have a few hours in the evening when I can relax the parental muscles for a bit. I enjoy getting up with DD in the morning and having our breakfast together etc., but I begrudge her nicking too much of my evening too!

Anyway. It's a transitory stage, I guess, the 1 or 2 naps. It's not helped by the fact that if DD only has one nap she will often only sleep for just over an hour and really she needs more than that to get her through to bedtime comfortably.

I should stop stressing about it - poor Scones (and others) have it much worse, I know. This evening was just a bit trying and after last night's sleep being less than ideal I'm blowing it out of proportion.

Still, I feel better getting all that off my chest, sorry!!

Smile

PA go for it! The pay is astonishingly better and the conditions (eg work time) the same!! Smile Not as much job security but then at university's you'd be looking at contracts anyway, so no real difference. Fingers crossed...

Schro dd2 also came close today after peeling off some wallpaper, shredding toilet paper, breaking my spare glasses, breaking a few plates by doing an inventory of our cupboards, and seriously having a death wish and lunging for the stairs whenever my back was turned (looong staircase with Victorian tiles at the bottom)..... Grin. I am still sniggering about the possible write up I would have given dh on ebay.... tehehe Wink

Scones dd1 was like that (not very solid poo). I guess it's just how they are made but it does make them more prone to nappy rash.

Re talking, dd1 was a real chatterbox at this age and used very basic sentences (Papa, look!) so dd2 is practically mute compared to her. But she does now do a very cute impression of a few animals (seagulls - the blighters are everywhere again at this time of year, ducks, lions, pigeons, cats, dogs, owls). Very cute actually. dd1 never did animal sounds, it was beneath her Grin Hmm

Er, didn't I say I wasn't going to post more while tipsy...? [wanders off to see if there is anything left in that bottle... after I spilled a good slug over me trying to put the plastic cork back in! Angry Now, don't get me started on plastic corks, screw tops..... Grin

BabyGiraffes · 25/03/2011 20:42

urgh, 'universities' clearly - apostrophes don't like wine

Sleep... I have always encouraged mine to do a longish sleep after lunch, so that once they cut back on sleep they don't get too tired in the afternoon (as they would having a long sleep in the morning).

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/03/2011 20:43

Ha, X-posted again!!

I'm glad the thrush got diagnosed, hopefully her bum will clear up now.

Re: poos. Lately DD has been doing two per day, quite loose. She drinks quite a bit of water and her food has a fair amount of roughage in it, so it's not surprising. We got a marvellous speckled poo the other day after she had been eating a lot of kiwi fruit Grin.
I can usually spot her when she's having a bowel movement (although not always and washables are very good at odour-containment so she has carried the occasional nappy-full around for longer than would be ideal....)

Exactly Bc, that's the trouble, isn't it? Bloody naps!

PS. Just saw facebook update. Beth's ds not doing too badly and now asleep with tube still in place (but had to be sedated in the end - no wonder, I wouldn't tolerate a tube myself!)

PenguinArmy · 25/03/2011 20:47

scones, you know when colostrum comes in, DD's poo will get very interesting and worthy EnvyGrin

thanks for the update BG

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:47

BG the solution is to drink the full bottle like this there's no issues with screw tops/corks...

DS does between 1 and 3 poos a day mostly in the morning. He's been ehinging a few times tonight hopefully it win't happen again. Hmm

Has anybody planned something nice for Mother's Day? (It's next week)

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:48

Snoring makes me see Angry uncontrollably Blush DH is still for sale. DD2 is off for now . He has been away and is just back and just told me he missed me and want to sleep next to me... really, he is snoring again!... Gahhhh. Still on the floor Confused. If I don't put him to bed he might complain tomorrow that he didn't sleep well, and leave me with crazy baby alone all day... definitely not sleeping next to me though.

PA I would cover all my options, if there is a job, apply, you will decide later if there is choices.

I never wake a sleeping baby (unless it is time to go i.e school run ....).
About 3 poos here. banana, bread and rice if they are a bit too runny and less veg.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/03/2011 20:49

I can't keep up with you lot!!!

A sharp elbow is my usual reaction to a snoring man...

Blimey, BG, and I thought bedtime was a tad stressful!! Wine
Yes, an after lunch sleep would be ideal, but DD simply can't last that long yet. Much more than three hours awake after the first wake-up of the day and she gets seriously teasy.

Why not, PA? Cast your net wide. I have friends who work in industry doing bio-chemistry type things and they seem to enjoy it and fit it around a life with two young(ish) children.

Heck, all this madness of posting, I think I'm going to have to crash out before either my fingers or my keyboard wear out... Grin

SB here mother day is on the 8th of march. I had a show from DD1 at kindergarden with gifts and flowers and poems and songs and dancing..... A bit long (it was cute the first year! teary even...). we had to wear silly flower hats made by them Hmm

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:54

It doesn't work he is immune Confused

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:54

We are busy indeed tonight!

My problem with DS one nap is that is in the morning so he then goes for nearly 6 hours or more without a rest and as he is a stuborn active baby gets tired by 4pm. Ah well it'll get sorted at some point.

schro shame on your DH snoring.

StoneBaby · 25/03/2011 20:57

X posted schro. Is the flower hat better or worse than the pasta necklace? Grin

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 25/03/2011 20:59

I like pasta necklace Wink!
