A v. speedy drive-by post!

HappyTangerine · 05/12/2011 21:25

Two years...TWO YEARS of me gently calling the BiscuitBiscuit "Mummy milk" or boob and what does Joe come out with yesterday in Asda as he's trying to lift my top and give everyone an eyeful? "Want TITTY!" Blush

He's found his voice but alas, not the volume switch. Very, very frustrated at the moment, lots of screaming. I may have to send consolation bottles of wine to the neighbours at Christmas. Two year check went ok btw, we mentioned we were a little concerned about speech development but then he started calling out the names of the animals/cars he was playing with and hv said he was bang on target. Had huge tantrum because he didn't want to go. One of many. odays have all been about not having the raincover on his buggy so we have both been caught in 2 hailstorms-he loved it as was wrapped up well, I got soaked to the skin and 5 hours on, still feel freezingHmm

Littlepea Have you left the thread? Sad We're all dying to know how you're getting on

HC Lush dream cream will work like a well, dream Grin on your arms. Hope its all better soon.

Calypso Scout and fidelma wave-hope all is well x

littlepea72 · 05/12/2011 22:04

Hello Xmas Grin

HC how is the back now? Hope your arms have stopped itching, nothing worse. Feel very angry at that girl, little cow. Did you say to her mum?

Scout great news on getting your camera back.

Calypo so Xmas Envy at you going to France! Well done on your exams, now you can chill out Xmas Smile

Iggly well done Xmas Smile

Fidelma I read that as booze instead of snooze! lol....are you running arround like a crazy thing yet?

HT I do love hearing about what Joe is getting up to lol...bet you just wanted to faint when he shout that lol. Faith is also taking tantrums, its like another child! She is also hitting, pulling hair & bitting Xmas Shock my DS1 is so scared of her now. If you put her on the naughty seat, she laughs at you, no fear and loads of fight, Im in trouble lol.
How is your stomach?

My sister had IVF but started bleeding on Saturday morning, its been terrible for her, she was at A&E for 2 days in a row. They ended up having to put a camera in through her belly button. They said the lining in her womb is coming away???? Not to sure I fully understand.

I have moved in, and can find nothing! lol....Its a lovely house and a lovely village. Being Irish, its also an open house, so ladies, feel free to visit!!!
DS1 is still not in school....not a good subject.

Had Christmas Ball on Saturday night, I had to wear a ball gown with heels!! Had such a good night, DH took me back to the room at the mess, about 2am, breakfast was at 4am but I didnt make it, out cold when I got to the bed. Woke up with such a sore head & then sick Xmas Blush had to be back home for 9am as MIL was flying home. Thank goodness it didnt last too long! But it was great to get out. Next big night will be in Jan for my 40th boo hiss!!!

So stuck on what to get Faith for christmas! Any ideas???

littlepea72 · 08/12/2011 15:02

Its cold!!! Brew

littlepea72 · 08/12/2011 21:57

Feel so alone....so alone.....hello???? Anyone?????

Scout19075 · 08/12/2011 23:26

HELLO!

CalypsoFramboise · 09/12/2011 10:22

Hello littlepea Xmas Smile and everyone else, am just so busy trying to squeeze thesis revisions in before Xmas, one last correction is a monster and I'm meddling around the edges of it rather than just getting stuck in Hmm

HT Titty?! omg how funny-but-mortifying! The tantrums sound really exhausting, I'm in awe that you parent full-time, I'd be run ragged and packed J off to childcare for 1 or 2 days a week. Well done!

HC How is the rash?

littlepea how is your sister? I hope the baby made it? and bummer DS1 is still not in school, that must be stressful. Glad you had fun at the ball (not so much afterwards!)

scout hello back to you! All well?

Iggly hope that the first week with Emily has done well, she's so adorable!

fidelma are you snowed in? I hope you still have power and haven't had bits of your home / school blown away.

Regarding Xmas presents DH and I are complete sci-fi nerds and could not resist the temptation to buy a HappyLand Martian Moonhouse - with aliens and space rocket yay!
But aside from that as we're going to France without a car we're only giving her some very small light things to open on the day; Miffy cookie cutters (she loves Miffy more than her mummy I think Xmas Grin) for playdoh, a French Noddy book (he's called Oui-Oui in French which is most confusing if she wants to watch Oui-Oui DVD or have a wee-wee on the potty!). Also bought her a Hello Kitty face towel and lots of stickers (2,000 for 99p in Brixton, bring it on!), a box of 3-piece puzzles of animals and Muppets Xmas DVD. Thinking about buying her a bear dressing puzzle like this one but thats it. Sounds like a lot! However we don't ever buy her toys as she's at nursery a lot so its about 6 months worth... Xmas Wink

What's everyone else thinking as presents is nosy Xmas Grin

fidelma · 10/12/2011 16:01

Hello

"mummy milk really tasty :O)" !!!!!

"mummy your lamps are really beautiful"

"Janes horse has laminitits :0"

Life is non stop at the moment.Xmas Wink

Love all your posts. Have a mice pie on me Xmas Grin

HappyTangerine · 10/12/2011 22:13

Hello - sorry to disappear littlepea - after my soaking in the hailstorm on Monday, I went down with a cold...which turned into a chest infection yada yada..dh had to take Thursday off, I was so bleugh. Feeling much better today but yesterday on my own with Joe was v v hard. Lots of TV - Waybuloo and Same Smile are firm favourites. Joe has now caught the cold as well-dh next, I suspect!

I have been ever so good today and given 4 black bags of toys, books etc to the charity shops. Alder Hay and the RSPCA love me Xmas Grin. Cleared some space for the new stuff. More to go tomorrow as well

Re Joe's Christmas pressies - we've got him an ELC kitchen and kettle/pans etc, a rocking horse (really lovely old one bought for a bargain £10 and lovingly restored by yours trulyXmas Grin), Red Rover game, some cars, a button board and an Octonauts playset. Family (my family is massive) have bought him Melissa and Doug stuff - the bug catching game and giant fire engine floor puzzle I think. My mum has knitted the pandas from Same Smile for Joseph for Christmas, she made up her own pattern and they look amazing! She's also got him the Martian moonbase and rocket, looks great.

Gotta go, dh says I'm hogging the laptop!. Back in a bit

HappyTangerine · 11/12/2011 13:11

Hello again, back for personals

littlepea You sound like you are settling in well. Had to laugh when you mentioned Faith's reaction to naughty step-Joseph does exactly the same, laughs then makes a run for it. Little monkeys! How is your sister now? And what is going on with ds1s school? My stomach is slowly getting better, I think. I am a big fan of juicing and I think it's helping-I juice a concoction of fresh carrot, apple, massive handful of kale, parsley and fresh ginger each day. Its nice, honest!

fidelma Glad to see you survived Storm 1. I was following #Hurricane Bawbag on twitter, so funny. Great name for a hurricane....even before I looked up what bawbag meant! Pmsl at ""Jane's horse has laminitits" Xmas Grin

Calyspo Hello from one sci-fi nerd to anotherXmas Smile You are so close to getting all your corrections done, hooray! Will you get it all done before Christmas do you think? Love the list of gifts, I bet A will be thrilled.

waves to Scout and HC

Iggly I didn' know you had chosen the name Emily-lovely name. Hope you are all doing well.

Right, off to put up Christmas tree. Dh ans I are taking bets on how long it will take Joe to try and pull it down...

littlepea72 · 11/12/2011 14:24

HC so sorry about your Grandmother, my thoughts are with you & your family xxx

littlepea72 · 14/12/2011 10:30

Hi everyone Xmas Smile

HT how are you feeling now? Did Joe take the cold? Gabe is also loaded, cant sleep at night because he has a wee blocked nose.
Also got Faith a kitchen, scooter & baby born walking dog lol.....and little stocking fillers. DS1 just wants guitar hero & DS 3D games.
Yesterday Faith put the house phone down the loo! No phone now. She takes no naughty step....what do you do with Joe?

Im a Sci-fi nerd too!

Calypso how are you feeling??? When do you leave for France??

Fidelma are you snowed in?

DS1 has no placement in school. They have tried 4 schools, but not 1 has a place. We think this is a lie, they just wouldnt be able to cope with him. So DH phoned up the last school, who hadnt gotten back to the Council. They said they had gotten their papper work back, but couldnt talk about it, as it states on the top of the papperwork.....not to be talked about with parents! But they did say they couldnt take him. So that meant no school. My DH then phoned the council and found out that the boss who was dealing with it had left, the other ladies said she didnt know we had asked for Special Needs school (lie as I told her in July, and on different phone calls after that) and DH asked why could he not go there when mainstream cant cope with him. We now have to wait till the new year to hear about a school.....Xmas Angry

Off to the post office to post some presents back home....

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

HappyTangerine · 14/12/2011 22:46

Hi all Xmas Smile - how did Christmas manage to creep up on us so quickly eh? Joe has not yet pulled down the Christmas tree-he's too busy trying to do the splits instead.Xmas Hmm

I'm sat here in tears after just watching The Truth about Adoption. Felt awful for the family that had to say goodbye to their children then felt equally awful for Conor's adopive family. And the huge delay in placing children with permanant families(and the damage it does) is awful. It's made me think about retraining as a social worker, somehing that has been on my mind a lot lately and I was suprised by how strongly I reacted to this programme. I had a friend at school who was in and out of foster homes and kept running away from care homes -at 15, children's services had long given up hope of having her adopted. She died in very sad and suspcious circumstances just shy of her 16th birthday. It breaks my heart to think of the pain some of these children go through.

HC I must have missed something you put on fb but I am so, so sorry to hear you grandmother has passed awy. Thinking of you all x

littlepea My cold is some sort of virus that's going around-I think we picked it up off someone at playgroup last week. Joe got it but hasn't been too bad, more bunged up really. Me-I can't stop ruddy coughing! As we are in a shoebox of a house, I wake everyone up so have been going to bed at silly times. Very wheezy and a 5 day course of steroids hasn't sorted it yet! Grr. MIL has it nowSad

re Joe and the naughty step, no he won't take it either, also laughs then crawls through my legs and runs off. Sometimes I'll just cuddle him through the tantrum. If he hits me with a toy (be warned, ELC Happlyand stuff is suprisingly robust), then the toy leaves the room until I get a sorry hug. Much throwing on floor and screaming of "bad mummy noooooooooo" but I do eventually get my apology. Lol and Xmas Shock at Faith and the phone. We have had 2 ipods broken and the t key on this laptop has disappeared...

Xmas Angry at the mess over ds1's schooling. Why on earth are schooling issues "not to be discussed with parents?" Sounds barmy. There must a place somewhere, surely. If not, what will you do-homeschool?

Right, better go-trying to get sorted for the weekend because we are going home to Wales for 2 days! Yay, lovely mountainy home. Not excited at all, honest!

CalypsoFramboise · 16/12/2011 07:06

Morning all,
HT Argh I have the cold-turned-to-horrible-coughing-wheezy-asthma thing too, totally driving me (and the rest of the family) MAD. At least Annalise is at nursery today (they have the Xmas concert which I'm going to later, cute!) but she's had a on of Xmas parties I've been ferrying her around to, and feel like I could sleep for a month (provided I can breathe Xmas Hmm). Ouch about the HappyLand stuff, thats a serious weapon! Have lots of fun in Wales!

littlepea I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be in education limbo with DS1, and how unhelpful are the council staff! Xmas Shock. Hopefully in the new year something good will turn up, I'm don't expect with a toddler and a newborn that long-term home schooling would be something you would want to do!
Off to France Friday night, arrive Xmas eve morning (5:45 UK time!!)

HC Also haven't seen on FB, but condonlences to your family xox

fidelma are you ok?!

scout hellooooo

Hello to everyone else xx

HumphreysCorner · 16/12/2011 17:11

Boo everyone!

What a trying couple of weeks with one thing and another. Thank you for you kind words, the funeral is on Tuesday at 1pm. Current problem is the battle with the PIL about me taking the children to the funeral. Dropping them off for a sleepover tomorrow and really do not want a lecture. Sad Dad wants them there, I want them there, the Vicar wants them there and they want to be there.

Am relieved school has now finished so that Emma can escape the bully girl. Luckily, or unluckily, the bully took a christmas present off a 6 year old girl today and opened it so naturally the 6 year old's mum is fuming and is going to tell the school. I am also friends with her and she is a strong character who won't be put down unlike me so am hoping something can be sorted.

I must catch up with this thread so apologies for lack of personal replies.

Love to all.

HC

Oh dear. Xmas Blush We saw a very, very um large man in Tesco today. Man bent down to pick something up and his shirt gaped a little. Joseph (with a happy sigh) "Oohh look, a titty!" I wanted the ground to open and swallow me up, I have never beat such a hasty retreat from a shop in my life! Xmas BlushXmas Blush

He's got a thing for hats at the moment- "Wear a hat!" so I have been made to wear a big floppy hat all afternoon while constructing a long tunnel made of lego for his ambulances to go through. He won't call me mummy at all unless in a tantrum-calls me darling instead! Xmas Grin Despite being trapped indoors due to the weather (dh has car and J won't have the raincover on his buggy), it's been ok-hard being ill but quite fun doing stuff as well.

Calypso Oh I'm sorry you have the annoying wheezy virus thing, what a pain. Hope it heals quickly. A sounds very busy with nursery and parties-good social life! I feel terribly guilty sometimes that we can't afford to send J to nursery-despitte the groups we go to, I'm worried he misses out.

HC So sorry you are having all this extra stress to deal with. Can you very bluntly tell your PIL that the children want to go to the funeral and that you don' think they should be denied the opportunity to say goodbye? And poor Emma Xmas Sad sounds like she could do with a break from school bully. Glad another mum is getting involved to back you up a bit.

I have done no packing or wrapping for tomorrow so better get a move on-we are leaving at 5am!

fidelma · 17/12/2011 23:31
