Fab news Calypso as my girls play so well together and they are 3 years apart. Smile

Had a little firework party tonight and have just put the DC to bed, they will be shattered tomorrow.

I am also knackered so will be turning in shortly. Hope all OK.

Congratulations Calypso, so pleased for you! Smile I'm trying to summon up the energy to run atm but am so shattered. My lovely gp has helped me choose a half marathon next year so fingers crossed.

HC How was fireworks party? We went to a massive display, Joe loved it. I've got some very funny photos of him attacking dh with a little light sabre we bought him-he is concentrating very hard!

Not much going on here-I took Joe to a new group yesterday, a language one and he loved it. Small group, lots to play with/interact. There was a baby there practicing her crawling and Joe found it hysterically funny, he kept running behind her and tapping her to go again whenever she stopped. Had half the room in stitches watching them Grin

Has anyone else got to conjoure up something spotty for dc to wear for Children In Need next week? So difficult to get spotty stuff for boys, I might just use a fabric pen on a white t shirt.

I am going to invove sod's law by saying this but AF is late-13 days and counting. Had an early v v heavy one last month so not sure whats going on. After panicking its perimenopause, I wonder if its a fibroid. I feel like it's going to happen all the time but the no show is so frustrating. Absolutely knackered and for some reason have swollen ankles(I never had this with Joe) but no other symptoms apart from crampy pain in left side. Must be the steroids (14 days) I took messing up my system-I've had to get something from gp for the heartburn as the otc stuff wasn't working. Sad All PG tests negaive and I can't afford to keep buying them atm so the wating and cramps go on...

How is everyone? x

HappyTangerine · 09/11/2011 00:29

invoke not invove-I think thaats a hint that I need to go to bed!

fidelma · 09/11/2011 22:12

HT I hope you are Ok with the no af.seems odd to me.How mant tests have you done?

Fireworks watched from a distance but lovely.Connor is still talking about the big bonfire (sweet) he is very well.

DD1 missed out on being school swimming champion tonight by o.1 of a second ffs!!!! They time them manually so I of course think she should share the prize with the nasty girl who has won Sad i wouldn't of minded if it had been any other child but this one and mother are soooooo competitive (and not nice about it)

DD1 is copping very well. She nearly broke a record but missed it by .27 of a second! Oh well she has just had shingles and a terrible cold! so she did do bloody well.

dd2 age 9 had major tamtrums on Sunday NIghtmare.I felt like the worst mummy ever.i tried to make her do something she did not (wasn't ready) to do Sad

I have tried this twice with my girls dd1 i tried to get her to continue with the violin, but the fight and my relationship with her made me give in.You can only push so hard ,then they need to do it for themselves.

On Sunday I tried to get dd2 to have a swim trial for a pre swimming club called starfish. (she was one of 12 children invited to attend) Long story but she didn't do it in the end. I was mad. (I was very wrong,I should of listened to her)
However by some miricle they took all the 12 children and also said that my dd2 could be one of the first star fish Shock wierd but she was chuffed to bits (more wierd)

I will not ever make my dc do anything again. (well they have to go to school,by helpful, polite and nice to their brothers and sisters, brush their teeth do their homework and continue anything they take on for 1/2 a term!)

It has taken me days to recover and stop beating myself up.

Pilates has gone so well I now have to start another class. I have a full class on my waiting list and some! wasn't really intending on working but I have loved it.A real break from the usual.

HC hope all well and good with you and yours X

calypso hope you are well x

Littlepea have a good move x

HappyTangerine · 10/11/2011 20:57

AF here today, 15 days late. I am happyish-I didn't want to ttc no2 properly until I'd lost some weight and (selfishly) completed a half marathon which I'm hoping to do in Feb/March. I went on a lovely long run last night at midnight, I know I shouldn't really (woman on her own etc) but it was bliss. Just me, the hedgehogs and odd adventurous cat. Felt wonderful this morning.

I can't remember who it was (HC?) whose 2 yr old went through a hitting phase but how do you deal with it? J had 7 tantrums in 2 hours today and spent the last two of them trying to smack me in the face-time out didn't work. All this because I wouldn't let him a) take his trike onto a bus, b) Spend half hour messing about with the chain curtain at the butchers and c) Go anywhere near the oven. Give me strength! I have clearly toughened up-there was a time when I cared what people thought when J was throwing himself on the floor. Not any more Grin

fidelma Glad you have stopped beating yourself up - you a are a wonderful mother juggling 19 million different things and it sounds like the situation was a bit hard to read anyway. I'm wondering if dd2 didn't want to do the swimming because she feels she won't be as good as/is expected to be as good as dd1? She's in now and is happy about it, see how she gets on.

As for dd1 - wow!Grin She's achieved second place and was only beaten by a whisker. All this when she's been ill. Competitive mummy should enjoy it while she can, I don't think her dd will be on top for long...

Big wave to everyone, I am off in search of restorative food (in this case ice cream)

fidelma · 10/11/2011 22:34

HT thanks for your kind words X

I am envious of your midnight run (not that I could do it ) but just to get that space, good for you. (hope you had a big bunch of keys with a long handle in your pocket!) Grin

connor is also having a fair amount of tantrums. However if he is well fed he hardly has any Wink It is often low blood sugar with all of us.You don't want to disscuss much with any of our family until they have eatten!

However I am saying "no" to him and having to deal with the consoquenses. (sp!!!!!!!!!)

fidelma · 13/11/2011 21:53

DD1 threw up on her way to first real swimming gala Hmm then she was fine!!!! unlike dhs car LOL! she came 3rd,4th and 1st in the relay.her times were good so she has qualified for the Scottish Schools final Shock

Very sad there is no Downton tonight Sad

HumphreysCorner · 14/11/2011 11:00

Morning ladeez

fidelma-very well done to your DD1. Grin Wonder if she was sick with nerves. I too missed Downton and can't wait for the Christmas special. Watched last weeks final episode again yesterday. Love it!

Had a few problems with DD1 not wanting to go to school and crying about it then found out one of here friends pinched her best friend off her then both of them were nasty to her. Spoke to the girl's mum but couldn't stop myself having a polite word with the girl too as she has played at my house and I am friends with her mum. This morning DD1's best friend is back with DD1 and the other girl was on here own. I really do hate these situations but I seem to think it didn't start happening to me so this early-DD1 is 8. Hmm

Having a cuppa then need to do a bit more wrapping then I can write my Christmas cards. I don't have that many now the girls can write their own. Smile

Struggling for stocking fillers for Matthew as most toys are in big boxes. Any ideas?

Big wave to everyone!

HT girls are a nightmare with their friends. I don't have much advice. sorry.I think you were right to have a word though.

Stocking fillers. glow sticks (google),torch, umbrella, socks, pants, tube of sweets, cars, soap, bubble bath, hat, scarf, bath toy.

Please give me your ideas

HappyTangerine · 14/11/2011 21:57

I watched Downton for the very first time...last week Hmm and loved it! Now seem to have 2 series to catch up on.

fidelma Well done to your DD and comiserations to your dh on the car. That aroma will take a while to go!Wink

HC You did the right thing by talking to the mum. I changed schools when I was 7 along with my best friend-she was accepted at the new school and I wasn't. Similar situation to your dd developed, except mine went on for another 3 years. Girls can be very bitchy, well done on nipping it in the bud. I had a whole class once send me to coventry for 2.5 weeks because a teacher had brought an owl in and it went mad if anyone but me tried to hold it! Primary school was a v lonely time for me and by the time my parents intervened, a lot of damage had been done.

We're off to view J's potential school next week. Had 2 choices-one is small with lovely nurser & reception and neices both went there so MIL raves about it. Small class sizes etc BUT at 8, they move to a different school and 2-3 from each class are assimilated into each class in new school. The second choice is a much bigger school, again great nursery and reception class but no move midway through primary education-it's actually the school that the children from school 1 move up into. I just think J will benefit more from some sort of continuity rather than a big change of school midway. Might be biased due to what I've said above. Dh also bullied when changing school and feels strongly about this so I'm going to let him tell his mother we're not choosing the first one Grin I'm going to soften it by saying if we have more dcs, it makes no sense for me to be rushing to get to both schools when they are 3 miles apart. Its a fair point actually.

I have a pile of ironing that is just looking at me but I cannot be bothered tonight. Restless bored but can't be bothered to do anything. Waiting for Made In Chelsea, my guilty pleasure!

HappyTangerine · 14/11/2011 22:10

Stocking fillers - animal snap cards (ELC), cars, Sclhleich animals, stickers, socks, crayons, small colouring book, bubbles, mini books

Glow sticks a big hit on bonfire night, seem to last for ages.

fidelma · 14/11/2011 22:19

HT shame about your primary school. Sad you do need to stay on top of these things.

My DC are at the same school from 5 -18 but it is spilt into 3 schools years 1-5 sweet wee school.2 classes of 16 in P1 usually 2 classes of 25 by P5

Years 6 and 7 are run like a middle school,fantastic year6, 3 classes of 25
Year 7,
4 classes of 25

Senior school 6 years with about 120 in each year

A big school. I have found the new children comming in upsets the balance for a while but by years 6 and 7 they have a lot of friends to choose from.

It is never an easy decision. I love that all of my dc are in the same place (don't always finnish at the same time but hey ho....)

HumphreysCorner · 15/11/2011 17:03

HT-school sounded terrible for you and DH. Sad I was in a group of 11 girls and was sent to coventry for weeks because I had 2 weeks off school poorly, and I was poorly. If I went near them they would say 'what's that smell?'

This girl has now said sorry for you know and wanted DD1 to go for tea on Weds so I said no, not yet after how much she upset you. The girl then turned all nasty again and called me for refusing a visit. Then shouted that she wasn't mean last week. Hmm Think I will review the situation in the New Year when I can be sure she is being genuinely nice to DD1 and not because she has nobody to bully play with.

I looked at collecting Scleich animals as I love them but they are so expensive and there is no fencing where we buy them from and I like to fence my animals in. Going to put some socks in though. Smile

When can I start playing Christmas DVD's and CD's? The John Lewis advert has me sobbing.

Our boiler has packed up so v. cold with no heating.

Thinking of littlepea at this hectic time. Watched Moving On this afternoon and it was about an army wife left at home with a new baby while her husband was on tour. Very moving story, made me think of littlepea.

Matthew is pooing for England today so hope he eats his tea.

Big wave!

Hiya, hope everyone is ok-it's quiet in here. Bet you're all on FB!Wink
I've had a weird week-taking Omeprazole for gastritis and possible stomach ulcer and the meds have made me really ill, scary side effects! Have stopped now, I'd rather have the ulcer! But it's left me with some gallbladder and digestion problems so I'm going down the holistic route (which I should have done in the first place). I've had to abandon my late night runs for the time being.

Joe is all for his dad at the moment and is having some humdinger tantrums. Still not saying much but tantrums are accompnied by a new level of screeching that only dogs can hear. I wish I'd had him when I was younger. He's up at 4.30am/5am at the moment and has boundless energy. I am so tired.

HC How is your back? Hopefully better

Fidelma I'm all for having dc's at the same school, makes better sense.

littlepea Good to hear from you, you have been missed. Are you all settling in nicely? Hope you've had good progress re ds1 school.

Iggly If you ever pop back ino the thread-I'm sure your due date must be approaching. Good luck, will be thinking of you!

CalypsoFramboise · 25/11/2011 07:24

Hello lovely women :)

Its been a while; any spare time I've had I've been revising hard for my PhD viva, and perhaps some of you noticed on FB that I passed with minor corrections, yay. Was pretty horrid, had Braxton Hicks after from the stress, but if I can find the time, the revisions should be done before or just after Xmas and I'll be done with 2 months to spare before DD2 arrives :)

fidelma well done DD1, what amazing swimming and just recovered too, I'm proud of her too! And I think you are an incredible mother so I don't know how you could doubt yourself x

HT glad that you are not disappointed that AF came and not DC2. Have huge envy for the running at midnight, I often used to go for a long run along the Thames past parliament, the Eye, St Pauls late at night, its really invigorating, enjoy! What kind of time are you aiming for in the half? (oh and read all of thread and what a bummer you're feeling so unwell, doesn't sound like you can rest much with livewire J! Take care). Btw, I bought a pack of 25 strip pg tests from Amazon for c£5, so much cheaper than test from Boots etc.

HC I do worry about having a girl (and probably a second), my girl's school was horribly bitchy, luckily I wasn't at the receiving end of it often (nor giving end either!) but I know just how low girls can go, breaks my heart thinking of my lovely happy easy going Annalise being upset at school, feel tears in my eyes now :( Well done for sorting it out. Sorry to hear about your bad back.

littlepea hope you unpack your house soon and feel settled :)

iggly due 2nd Dec, I have 2 friends due this Wednesday and Thursday just gone, both their second and both still waiting, looking forward to new baby news from SOMEONE soon!

Hmmm Xmas, have been concentrating so long about viva that I haven't really thought too much about it. We're going to France for the big day, staying at my parents small 16th century farmhouse and they're going BANANAs getting the house ready. tbh, I'm pretty excited about getting the over-night ferry there and back too, even though it will be my millionth ferry crossing :o. Will consider purchasing some xmas music and DVDs and we'll even bother getting a tree this year - since we've no car, we've not bothered dragging one 1/2 mile up the road since A was born!

fidelma · 29/11/2011 22:31

Full on........

Scout19075 · 01/12/2011 00:28

Just back today from 2+ weeks at home with the family for Thanksgiving. Lost my camera and nearly cried but it seems it was found and turned in at Heathrow so could kiss hug the honest soul who turned it in to lost property. I thought all of my pictures of Toddler with his American Family were gone forever.

I'm off to bed while I can (S has been sleeping for England since landing yesterday (but we didn't come home until today) but am no counting on that for tomorrow!

Goodnight!

HumphreysCorner · 01/12/2011 21:08

Welcome home Scout. Smile

Have been having nightmare bedtimes with Matthew, her screamed for 3 hours the other night. Have put a nightlight in his room as I suspect the monitor light is not bright enough. Have ordered a mouse house nightlight from Piggery Pottery so hope that will help him settle when he gets it. He still isn't talking-ho hum!

Emma's mean friend from the other week has told her Santa doesn't exist and it is the parents that sort the presents and eat and drink what you leave out for Santa and the reindeers. This has now put doubt in my 5 year old's mind too. Really hate this girl.

Hope all OK.
