tribble - bought a nuby cup now, thanks for the tip, will try it out with ds when we are back from our northern adventure!

springflowers I love your new name, cheers me up just seeing it! Might have to pick a more cheery nickname for myself now...

Stuck in the airport, flight delayed by two hours argh! Would have been quicker to walk! Ds being a little hero, he spent the first few hours cooing at everyone in the airport or feeding, then I constructed a little tent for him with my scarf, to see if it would help him go to sleep, he spent five minutes pulling it down then had a little look around, closed his eyes and went straight to sleep. Hope he isn't saving the screams for on the plane...

tiredfeet · 05/04/2011 19:42

Ahhh just read your post hj - your dd properly loves her food by the sound of things!!

SpringFlowers · 05/04/2011 20:22

Tiredfeet - good luck finding a new name. It took me ages to find a free one! I do quite like it.

R does not like carrot. Oof. What a mess. I'm a bit worried I'll have to supplement with formula at this late stage to keep her weight up. Feeling quite sad and a little inadequate Sad.

NoHunIntended · 05/04/2011 20:40

SpringFlowers is a lovely name! I haven't had DS weighed in a while. Some babies have to be on the lower percentiles - is 9th very low? Is your GP concerned?

Tyson, quite - I am only just about keeping up with all the name changes!

sam12, are we going to get to see the photo of your little bee?

tf, aargh, flight delays are a chore without a baby to deal with. Sounds like you managed marvellously, well done.

NoHunIntended · 05/04/2011 20:44

Sorry, x-p with your latest post, Spring. Hm, I'd check with your HV first re the slowed weight gain, rather than resorting to formula. I bet you are doing great, and being a little on the smaller side isn't necessarily a bad thing. You are not inadequate at all.

HarrietJones · 05/04/2011 20:49

Spring- is she in proportion ? Hun is right, some babies have to be the little ones!

SpringFlowers · 05/04/2011 21:10

We think she looks well and healthy. There is some chubbiness about her and she has good colour. She's not skinny at all. Her general physique is petite and her head circumference smallish. She's quite long though. In terms or development she is babbling well, sitting for short periods and standing with only a little support. She can pass objects from one hand to the other and has separation anxiety. Sounds normal right?

Elsa123 · 05/04/2011 23:15

SF sounds above average tbh. I wouldn't worry at all. If she's happy and feeding and stuffs coming out the other end then its all good.

Going to see if I can get DD to the GP tomorrow. She had teething pain last week- definitely teething as she was gnawing on anything, including the coffee table leg at one point but she's been cranky since and for the last few days has been in pain when her ear is touched and the wax coming out is dark. I'm feeling terrible about it as I'd adopted a wait and see approach as most docs don't give abs for earache and its really sore for her. I wish I'd gone sooner. I so hope I can get a same day appointment for her. Paracetamol hasn't helped so, as its been going on a while I hope they will give her something. Poor little thing can't even stand to have a t-shirt put on over her head.

sam12 · 06/04/2011 00:50

spring she sounds perfectly healthy. You definately are not inadequate. Am sure a lot of babies don't stick to the text book graphs.
Elsa Poor DD hope the doc can get her sorted and she is feeling better soon.
I've had a rubbish day- got very little sleep last night, DD has been grouchy as anything and then I felt guilty because she was annoying me, when I was cooking the tomato puree tube exploded all over the wall, we went to buy some things we want for dd and they had none of them in stock, I managed to get a little nap this afternoon but had nightmares- although when I woke up dd was stroking my face which was cute-and the house looks like a bombsite and I just don't have the energy to tackle it. Anyway I will stop ranting now!
On the subject of hair (mine looks dreadful by the way) how much have your LOs got? DD has only got a bit of fuzz.
Also when do they get their eye colour iyswim?
Anyway I best get to bed I'm going into work tomorrow for a meeting and I'm struggling to remember anything as it is without being too tired as well

SpringFlowers · 06/04/2011 06:48

Elsa I hope your dd is ok. I always 'wait and see' too. Usually it's nothing and passes quickly enough. The chewing sounds ordinary to me. R looks at the most unlikely things and tries to fit them in her mouth.

Thanks for the reassurance about the weight issue. I know that some babies are smaller but the hv don't like it when they drop down the percentiles. It's fine for them to be small as long as they started small if you see what I mean.

Sam Five people live in my house and I haven't sorted any laundry for 10 days. We are all rifling through the laundry basket in the morning trying to find pants and socks Blush. Don't worry about a bit of mess at home, it's fine and usual if you have small children!

R going to the childminders for two hours this morning as I am going to work. She will cry for most of the time I think. She doesn't like being held by anyone other than me. I know she'll be fine in the end but she is about to have a miserable day Sad.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 07:31

Elsa- poor dd

Sam- dd3 has a good covering of hair but not thick

Spring- hood luck with the CM, dd3 wont be held by anyone other than me ,dh ,dd1/2. Spent months trying to get her used to my mam.

SpringFlowers · 06/04/2011 07:51

Sam - R has masses of hair! She was born with a lot but it's grown a lot too. It's the first thing people comment on because of how much there is and the colour. It's a chestnutty/auburn colour and very beautiful. None of the other babies in my ante natal group have any hair at all really.

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/04/2011 08:27

Ok what do I need to do with a poorly baby? DS has a cough (as do I, Oh joy!!), I've got calpol and karvol and he's currently sat on the sofa next to me looking a tad sorry for himself. He's had a few snuffly colds before but no coughs.

When should I take him to the Docs, if at all? Sorry if this sounds a bit thick.

Elsa123 · 06/04/2011 08:53

No idea Tribble if he's not well then it might be best to take him- its your gut instinct thats best.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 09:04

I took dd3 almost weekly with hers ( but she was tiny) & I err on the side of it's better to get checked.

Managed school run this am & back in pre preg jeans & top(although it's snug round the chest). Had to work out complicated plan for dd1/2 clubs tonight as I can't walk as far as needed & involves dd1 doing a lot on her own

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/04/2011 09:43

Thanks guys, I've made an appointment just to be sure.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 10:38

Good luck tribble!

I'm finally admitting that the PND is beating me. Being housebound the last two days had finished me off I think. Trying to get through to the GP but going to be difficult to see them as kids break up next week.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 10:40

Oh & just realised we can't do the pictures tomorrow as dd2 has an appt :(

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/04/2011 14:23

HJ Oh you poor thing, I hope you get sorted soon.

We managed to get to the Docs who've said it's just a cold and to continue with the calpol. So we're indoors watching crap TV and everything smells of Karvol.

I'm going to put the kettle on.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 16:06

Feeling better mentally for going to baby group. Physically a wreck after the walk & I've still 3 clubs to do for older 2.

Elsa123 · 06/04/2011 19:41

I hope your DS gets better soon Tribble

HJ glad the baby group made you feel better. Cabin Fever can be hard.

I took DD to the GPs- they gave me an appt for 1720 so I had to wait all day with DD in pain. The doc thought that I should just keep dosing her with calpol and leave it- even though I said it had been going on for over a week and she was crying with it (of course when he examined her she did even make a peep!). So when I told him that ear infections that cause long term deafness run in my family he immediately said 'oh right then, took me seriously and prescribed some anti-biotics. She's had her first dose tonight but not much of it stayed down. I've been avoiding calpol as I don't want to be drugging her daily.

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/04/2011 19:53

Elsa Oh your poor DD, I hope she gets better soon.

HJ Good news about the baby group, I hate being stuck indoors.

We've had a day of it, DS has been whingy all day. DH came home and took over which was brilliant. I sat down to eat my tea and I knocked it off of the table onto the floor. I was gutted, I'd been really looking forward to that.

HarrietJones · 06/04/2011 20:07

Oh tribbble I can see your pain!

Elsa-poor dd.

SpringFlowers · 06/04/2011 20:26

Tribble - hope things have settled down in your house now. Is DS any calmer? A whole day of shunting can really wear you down.

Elsa - hope your DD is feeling a bit better. Did you use a syringe or spoon for the antibiotics? I have found it easier with a syringe in the past. Personally I'd give calpol as well if it helped to make her more comfy. It's only for a really short period if time. Saying that I understand why you'd want to avoid too many drugs.

HJ - sorry about the pnd. I've been depressed in the past and really sympathise. I've had my moments recently but few and far between and it has always passed quickly. Will you take medication?

No Hun - I remember reading that you take DS swimming really frequently. How do you manage it on your own? I need some pointers, would you mind sharing?

R did well at the childminders and I am delighted. I enjoyed school too. It was odd being without her though, this was the first time I've ever left her!

SpringFlowers · 06/04/2011 20:29

Oh no! I thought I'd checked for errors! Not shunting - whining!
