Yes ThursdayNext had gone. Didn't work out what was making dd3 sick in her cot. She's not being sleeping in it this week though. Am knackered this am

ILoveGregoryHouse · 13/03/2011 08:55

Hi All, just popping back on to mark my place. Am up to eyeballs sorting out getting back to UK. Still lurking.

Will catch up soon.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 13/03/2011 20:01

Good Luck ILGH!

Off to Bath overnight this week, first time away with dd3. Anyone want to help me make a list of what to take?
Pram
Cot & sleeping bag(2?)
How many suits?& vests?
Spare coat
Couple of toys
Spare tops for me, spare jeans
????

Packet of nappies, cotton wool , wipes

tiredfeet · 13/03/2011 21:51

Exciting nymph, Bath is lovely
Other ideas-
Change mat
Possibly calpol or similar - ds became ill when we went away

Hope the move goes well ilgh

shield yes definitely still sinking in that he's here!

sam12 · 13/03/2011 23:31

Tired the nursery was really nice, the menu looked great and the staff were very friendly although VERY young (maybe that is a sign of my age) They can also be very flexble to suit DHs shifts which is good. Am going to look around at least one more before I make a final decision. There are waiting lists but places are pretty easy to get- it must be a nightmare if they are difficult to get where you are and it takes away that option. The footage of Japan has been truly shocking; it must be very difficult for you to watch Sad
Cheese I am Blush to say I never connected your other name to hp- and I love hp. We are going to Haven next weeek and my list is very similiar to yours- the only other thing I have is the rain cover for the pram. Hope you have a lovely time.
Shield No I still can't belive that I have a baby either- I feel like the luckiest person Smile
ILGH hope that everything goes ok and you are back in the UK soon- there must be lots to sort.
DD sat and ate a piece of melon earlier she seemed to love it. My lovely DH did the night shift for me last night so I had my first full night of sleep since well before christmas which was much needed.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 14/03/2011 08:27

Dh is from Bath so we go regularly. Taking dd3 to his parents graves,
Changing mat is in the changing bag
Raincover is permanently on the pram

Anyone thinking of moving out if the carry cot yet? Dd3 is getting big in hers :( and don't think she has long left. She's also growing out of hats.

tiredfeet · 14/03/2011 12:42

cheese that must be an emotional trip for dh
We moved ds into his cot at start of january - he is 98th percentile though

sam I wouldn't necessarily worry about the young thing, I had a few friends that worked in childcare straight from school but they were all very maternal and responsible. Whereas at that age I couldn't even keep a spider plant alive Blush.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 14/03/2011 13:26

Sorry I mean carry cot on pram not bedtime one. She's been in her big cot from the start after dd2 who was trying to escape hers at 4 months!

Dh is strange (from my POV) about these trips as I get emotional & he seems 'over it' his mum died when he was young & dad about 15 years ago so he's had plenty of time but I get sad I didn't know them & now that dd3 won't know them. Especially as she would be their only GC & dh said his Mum was v motherly and would have loved a GD. He didn't visit the graves for years but it feels right to take dd3.

Elsa123 · 14/03/2011 13:41

Cheese, I travel with DD all the time and recommend 2 changes of clothes per day of being away. Yes to 2 sleeping bags just in case.

Does the cot on your pram convert to the seat?
We've been incredibly lazy today. DD slept through til 0645 last night [woohooh!] then we got up and took DH to the train station, then walked the dogs, got back and climbed back into bed and she fed on and off and slept on and off as did I until 1230 Blush. My internal justification is that I won't get these days back and cuddles all morning are one of those rare luxuries!

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 14/03/2011 14:04

No carry cot comes off and buggy bit goes on. It does lie flat but I don't like her getting bigger Blush 2 changes in changing bag & take 2 extras then.

Nowt wrong with having the am in bed elsa Envy

I've been for osteo again ouch!

sam12 · 14/03/2011 15:57

cheese we changed the pram last week so that she is sitting up and she seems to love it having a good mosey round. I don't go to my mum's grave as it has nothing to do with my memories of her ifyswim and I feel that I think of her all the time and I don't need to go there to show it if that makes sense. I suppose everyone deals with it differently.
tired was chatting to a friend who has a ds in nursery and she pretty much said the same. I still can't keep plants alive!!
elsa that sounds lovely and there is nothing wrong with making the most of these days whilst they are little. Dd is very anti-cuddle now.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 14/03/2011 16:42

Sam- yeah that's sort of dh reasoning but any conversations we have about them are quite normal where as the only person I have lost was my Nanna & I still get upset talking about her. Not sure if it's the length of time or our way of dealing with it that's different.

tiredfeet · 14/03/2011 22:04

Just a quick one to say thank you elsa for the oats recommendation, ds loved his bath so much tonight and then grabbed the little pouch of oats I'd made and kissed it! He has slept so much better this evening after some really difficult evenings (and nights, and days...)
(Nohun hgave ordered some of the stuff you recommended too...)

Elsa123 · 14/03/2011 22:57

Oh I'm so pleased tiredfeet Smile. My mum was a nurse and it used to be standard for hospital patients with skin conditions to be given oatmeal baths. Its so soothing.

I've just had a little shopping spree. I've bought some linen from the White Company and decided not to get a highchair for DD but went for the Phil and Teds portable me too one which fastens to the table. Hopefully it will work well. It has good reviews.

Hope your osteo treatment went ok cheese.

NoHunIntended · 15/03/2011 01:09

tf, glad the oat thing helped - hope my recommendation does too.

We've got our pram in the seated position now too! DS looks so grown up! I am still mostly wearing him in his sling or Mei Tei - getting quite heavy though!

All good here. Woke up Saturday morning to find DS had climbed on top of me and was helping himself to milk. He had this clear look in his eyes that said "Mummy, do you think you can lay on your side to feed me please, this position is too much effort right now."

Still holding off weaning him until he's six months, but he is growing ever more interested in our food. Not long to go til he's six months anyway. Time flies.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 15/03/2011 04:44

Hi again. We're leaving Bahrain tomorrow, if we can get out through the protestors road blocks and avoid them attacking us (really). Am very upset. DH coming back to pack up the house, we're just taking clothes etc. Flight will be packed, lots of us leaving. Wish us luck. I'll be back on mn when we're back in England. DS1 starts school on Monday so we're all set when we get back.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 15/03/2011 09:20

Good Luck ILGH, are things getting worse again? Saw some on the news but with Japan & Libya everyone else is getting tiny slots. Will be thinking of you all & looking forward to hearing you are all back safe in the UK.

Elsa123 · 15/03/2011 10:18

Good luck ILGH. It must be horrible for you. Could you call the embassy to ask for help getting to the airport? There are people who can help you believe me.

TysonNobdie86 · 15/03/2011 10:41

Oh Good luck ILGH, you must be quite worried, thinking of you all x

sam12 · 15/03/2011 12:21

Hope you all get home safely ilgh was watching it on the news yesterday and it must be frightening

tiredfeet · 15/03/2011 12:24

Was thinking of you when I saw the news ilgh hope your journey home goes smoothly and safely

NoHunIntended · 15/03/2011 16:38

Thinking of you and yours, ILGH. Good luck. x

TysonNobdie86 · 15/03/2011 18:28

ILGH Just seen Bahrain on the news, will be holding my breath till you tell us all you are safe. :( for you x

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 15/03/2011 19:06

Just seen the latest news, hope you are all ok & that you are back here safe soon. Let us know asap that you are all safe.

floozietoozie · 16/03/2011 07:07

ILGH good luck and stay safe.

Cheese and Sam12 todayit is 16 years since my dad died. I haven't visited his grave for years because like you Sam, it's not somewhere I really associate with him. I do think about going when I go o mymums but invariably I forget once I'm actually there as am too busy with the living. It strikes me at odd moments, missing him. My poor dcs only have one grandparent as dp's parents died five and two years ago - but they were in their eighties so hardly unexpected. I am highly envious of those who have two sets of gps around to help.
