no internet again here so little lurking. Keep belly button dry and let air get to it if poss, fold top of nappy down. Yes salt i miss being pregnant but no baths on my own - either with lachlan or the girls come in to keep me company Hmm :o anaemia and lack of sleep taking its toll on me today, and in-laws here later on this week. Don't know how you bit your tongue salt - must learn to be nice to mine too!

Fuzzywood · 14/02/2011 12:11

Sorry to hear so many of you suffering after c sections, hope things improve soon.
I did attempt to have a bath on my own last evening but ended up with DD joining me so not at all relaxing.
Awful night here last night, ended up in hospital with Evan as he was breathing really quickly and appeared to be struggling a bit. We've had DD in hospital a few times with bronchialitis do thought it might be that. Fortunately all seems fine with him now and they didn't find anything. My mum was still here too so she looked after DD which made things easier. Only had a little bit of sleep on a pull out bed so shattered and it should have been my first day on my own but DH working from home so a bit of an anti climax. So relieved he's ok.

CupcakesHay · 14/02/2011 13:07

Oooh fuzzy pleased all ok, def a worry and better to be safe than sorry. Lucky your mum is there to help out a bit. You'll ctach up on the sleep soon enough I hope Smile

salt I def miss being pregnant, although the real thing is great Grin but i do miss the fact that he was all mine! ha ha - selfish aren't I? but now i have to share him with everyone Envy - whereas before he was pretty much mine, mine, mine!

And thanks jjkm - have decided to just passw him to grandparents or rock him or cuddle him a bit when he has hiccups - they don't go any quicker, but he def gets less stressed.

Off out for our walk as soon as we do next feed and nappy change! how exciting! Off to boots, a little bakery and maybe a walk by the estuary! So exciting!

And yes tongue-biting is a must with paretns and in-laws bubba - or the grin and bear it and laugh about comments with DH in private. My parents forget how small the house is and we can hear all the comments when we are in the bedroom b-feeding and it sends me and DH into fits of giggles about everything we are doing wrong.

Oh and jjkm know what you mean about girls - i would say 95% of my friends have girls. Bizarrely i thought i was having a boy efore i found out for sure, and when i told friends all agreed it was about time someone finally had a boy. But it's nice cos i can buy pretty things for friends babies, but buy cowboy and dinosaur things for Jesse Grin.

Anyone get anything for Valetine's day? DH made me change a stinky nappy at 6am - does that count???? Grin

LadyBuzz · 14/02/2011 14:11

oh fuzzy what a worry so glad all is well.Hope you manage to get some rest.

Its always best to get these things checked and they really don't mind, Even when you phone an ambulance becuase your PFB has wind Blush in my defence he was only 10 days old and held his breath til he went blue Grin - Little sod Blush they were very very nice and said its always best to get them checked!

DH and I are having a takeaway tonight for valentines day, I must find his card and write it before he gets home.

Hope everyone is having a lovely valentines!

RockLover · 14/02/2011 14:31

Sorry to hear you had a rough night fuzzy, glad things are ok with Evan now.

Flipping hell I'm whacked! Just done a load of laundry, washed up, cleaned the kitchen surfaces, picked up and threw away all the nappy bags from last night and put the bottles in to soak. It was hardly anything, but I am soooooo knackered!

I have a thumping headache today, midwife reckons it could be dehydration from my stupid dodgy tummy but I keep forgetting to drink enough.

George has put on 3oz since the last mw visit on the 10th, he is doing so well! He is pretty good at sleeping too, we get good 3-4 hr stretches of unbroken sleep through the night.

Now all I need is for this stupid c-section to heal and the swelling on my feet to go down, then I can actually lead a normal life again.

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 14/02/2011 18:16

jealous of George's sleeping - this one goes 2.5hrs at most but more normal is 2 :( To be expected I suppose but blimmin 'eck I'm knackered. glad you're so good humoured about comments from in-laws and parents cupcakes - you're a better woman than me! Walking along with girls in each hand and Lachlan in baby björn on my front today, it suddenly dawned on me I'm a mum of three! ! Fuzzy poor you, rapid breathing can be very worrying. Lol though at your bathtime sounding as relaxing as mine! Also lol at ladyb's wind-emergency with PFB :o

saltnvinigarcrips · 14/02/2011 22:18

fuzzy sounds like a nightmare evening. You poor thing! What a worry!

I too am knackered. Henry seems to want to feed a lot and springs to life on a night when I am desperate to sleep. DH back at work so now just on the sofa bed in living room until he develops a better sleeping pattern or outgrows his moses basket and can move into his own room.

Went out on my own today with Henry in his pram. Been out a fair bit but just not on my own and even purchased some boots so very pleased. Tomorrow we are going to go to the park and maybe stop for a hot chocolate. Little steps... Think it's about time I found out about a coffee morning mothers meeting or whatever they are called.

Has anyone got any advice on winding? I'm finding it really difficult and not sure if he wants winding or feeding again and worried I might be making it worse by sticking a boob in his mouth again. However it seems to do the job so does that mean he hasn't got wind because surely if he did he would reject boob and continue to cry? Experienced mums please help! I was up 2 hours trying to wind him (after feeding him) and then in the end to shut him up i tried feeding him again and he was fine. Sorry for sudden rant but starting to panic about tonights antics....

RockLover · 14/02/2011 22:54

Salt have you tried Infacol? You just give baby a dropper full before a feed and then it helps them bring wind up more easily.

George seems to burp really easily during the day, but we resort to Infacol at night as he seems to get alot of trapped wind then for some reason.

travispickles · 14/02/2011 23:17

How do you get them to take the infacol? Saskia spits it out and cries in disgust!! I too have the same problem Salt not sure whether to feed or wind. She doesnt seem to know when she is full and sicks up aftr she has over indulged. She also has a shouty cry that I suspect is wind but may be overtiredness?? Any ideas??

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 15/02/2011 04:31

if you've tried all other winding tips i gave pootle -little and often- then maybe try getting farts out by patting bottom -it reminds baby where to do the work apparently!- or cycling their legs but not nec straight after a feed. Lachlan cries a lot when he's tired just seems to need to get it out of his system before zonking out. Jjkm i've got awful headaches too - dehydration combined with lack of sleep. Not taking painkillers as don't like popping pills for little things. Right, he's fallen asleep again so I'm going to try to sleep before his next feed. Yawwwwn

OP posts:
saltnvinigarcrips · 15/02/2011 05:29

Thanks for the advice. I do have some infacol a friend gave me but don't want to use it until I've exhausted all natural rememedies. For some reason i'm a lot less stressed out than last night. Resigned to lack of sleep I think now. Just cycling his legs now bubba and he seems quite chilled so maybe he's just tired? albeit with his eyes wide open? Not sure if i should put the tv on or not.
Another quick question: I've been changing his nappy throughout the night but i read on another thread not to do this as it will get him used to night time sleeping? Don't like the idea of him sleeping in his own poop though. What does everyone else do? Also how is it working out for those who are using recyclable nappies? I use disposable and i'm (Henry's) going through them like noone's business!

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 15/02/2011 06:28

def change poo nappies, he will start to hold poo in during the night once he sleeps better at night. I'm normally doing one change about 3am atm but have changed him just before bed at 10ish then again 1st thing - which is about now. We use re-usables normally but disposables for first couple of months but was considering moving over earlier. Travis have you tried squirting it into saskia's cheek? Bleurghh, bleeding has started up again. Keeps stopping and I think it's all done then starts up again :( I need a laugh, anyone got any amusing stories? :o

OP posts:
RockLover · 15/02/2011 09:18

Amusing stories....hmm. Well George keeps doing spectactular fountain like wees and the other day he got very upset as he peed in his own eye...being a mean mummy I couldn't help sniggering Grin.

I am having a Hmm moment today, just realised that I managed to eat half a packet of chocolate Hobnobs yesterday. Looked in the mirror and I look like a woman-mountain, I must be at least a size 20 now, made of horrible wobbly, dough like fat. I have a huge puffy face with a double chin and I feel completely unattractive.

I think I'm going to have to go on a diet immediately, especially since I cannot breastfeed George, so I won't get help with losing the weight that way. Please, please, please tell me that all you ladies on here haven't got straight back into your normal clothes and look fantastic or I may have to have a tantrum!!

Crystylline · 15/02/2011 10:44

hi all,

been lurking as not quite mastered the art of typing one handed yet!

good to read all the winding tips - thanks bubba and all. xavi is a huge guzzler and gets wind for ages after a big feed. i've been trying to stop start him during feeds to have little breaks for winding which seem to work, but not always. salt - i'm also trying to stay away from infacol for now, but think i'm getting to the point for night feeds where it would be better to use it!

rock though my stomach is slowly going down, i'm nowhere near pre-pregnancy weight or shape. but, the good thing is my diet is much better now than it was before i was pregnant... this from the girl that never ate breakfast and lived on snack food whilst racing around for work.

bubba and jjkm my bleeding is weird, and not sure if it's because i had PPH and a retained placenta. i've not had any heavy bleeding, but lots of light, continuous bleeding instead. no idea what will happen when periods come back...

MW thinks i should go have a scan when my uterus has finished involuting and i've stopped bleeding to find out what the state of my odd uterus is post-pregnancy. though it's not even a remote thought atm, MW thinks i might have a difficult second pregnancy, if I even could have a second... that's a scary thought.

Fuzzywood · 15/02/2011 11:43

Thanks all, fortunately all seems well with Evan now he's still very snotty but a lot better than he was. Great story LadyB completely agree they can be little beggars.
Only amusing story I have is poo related. Trying to get out to toddler group yesterday, was changing Evan's nappy when DD decided she needed a poo so I had her on one side pooing on the potty and cleaning up a stinky nappy. DD decided to get up when finished so I was trying to grab her to wipe her bum thinking Evan had finished pooing when he started again. So I'm then trying to catch Evan's poo in baby wipes and ended up using 3 nappies in 5 minutes. He must have been a fair few ounces lighter when finished. I'd forgotten how obsessed by the amount and type of nappies babies have.
Did you enjoy your walk Cupcakes?
Crysty you'll soon begin to master lots of tasks one handed, an essential mummy skill Grin

LadyBuzz · 15/02/2011 12:16

rock I think i am only about 7lbs heavier then I was pre pregnancy which is really great, its just a shame I have a stone from DS2 a stone from DS1 and another half stone from my first pg to lose aswell Grin I WILL do it this time.
I had my jeans on yesterday (not pre pg) they fastened but pushed all of the flab over the waistband - Not a good look.

I'm not BF either so i need to get myself motivated to lose the weight - we can support each other!

fuzzy glad Evan is getting better.

Kali covered me in poo on Sunday when she had a very explosive pump, DH nearly wet himself laughing - git!

Glad to hear people are getting out and back to normal.

jjkm any news on when you can have your girls home?

RockLover · 15/02/2011 13:15

I have another bloody problem too. We have an appt at the council offices tomorrow to get George registered...BUT I have no clothes that fit (without pressing on my tender tummy) and my feet and legs are still hugely swollen and I don't have any shoes that will fit over them.

I can't turn up in pjs and slippers, slightly panicking here. When the hell will my swelling go down? I need to be able to walk properly...grrrrrr!

saltnvinigarcrips · 15/02/2011 13:27

Don't really have any funny stories bubba although I was very tempted to put up photo of ds with huge bogey across his face for you to laugh at but then I thought that would be being a mean and cruel mum. Still on sofa bed despite the time. Think I will stay here all day and not put it away until friend comes round. Leftovers for lunch and then bath and then do some thank you cards. I feel so busy lol!

Pootle78 · 15/02/2011 14:28

Hi ALl

Glad everyone is getting on ok with their little ones.

Jacob was on infacol from day 4 on the recommendation from the midwife as he had what could only be described as a high pitch terradactyl (sp?) scream that was the wind. He is a lot calmer now and we were told not to use it for too long when the midwife came yesterday so will start to wean him off come the weekend. Bubba your recommendation for winding seems to help a lot (thank you) and we have also tried the cycling legs. We were concerned he had constipation the other day as he was in absolute agony between 10pm and 3am and thought we may be heading back to the hospital but he settled himself, the cycling works well for that too. He is getting a maximum of 100ml formula a day so I knew it couldn't be that as there is nothing for him to get blocked up with.

In relation to nappies, Jacob doesn't really wake up in the night so not changing him. We change at his last feed and before first feed and there is no more than 6 hours between them. Obviously if he does wake then we do sort him out. Will be going to reuseable nappies, but may wait a couple more weeks, we are getting low on the 200 nappies we had acquired along the way but don't think I am ready for reuseable yet so going to have to buy some!

Rock love your wee story, it does surprise me how far it can go, found some in Jacob's ear the other day after he wee'd on the midwife Grin

All these poo stories are making me laugh, it's amazing how I am sure 4 weeks ago we wouldn't have thought it could keep us so entertained!!!

We registered him this morning and I snuck in a cheeky second middle name (my maiden name) as my brother has a girl so the family name has gone. We haven't told anyone and probably won't use it (except for passport) but can't wait to see Mum and Dad's face when they ask for the birth certificate so they can open his bank account!

Headed off to work yesterday in my pre preg jeans [runs and hides from everyone] but they looked more like hipsters and the muffin top was yuck! And I could only wear them cause I had a very long top on and they were taken off as soon as I got back in the house! Think I have about 14lb til I am back at pre birth weight.

Right, have a very little boy who should have woke for a feed 15 mins ago so better go and be the worst mummy in the world and wake him up!
