Phew and we are back. I do not like being without internet or telephone.

Trace, love Lady's suggestion good stock answer for when you dont want to be to specific.

So is it just Rubes and Summer next Fri?

JamInMyWellies · 03/02/2011 16:24

Oh and VAg hope DS1 is feeling better soon. Have you tried a MaccieD milkshake great for huge amount of calories then you can stuff him full of calpol and nurofen.

Oh and how are the DD's Beans, and your Dad. Also werent you waiting for news about your MIL?

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 16:31

DS2 is so cute, he is laying on the couch with a pillow on his back yelling "I'm a tortle" at me.

DS1 is loads better he has eaten some dinner and had some water and has been off the couch and playing which is great. His last calpol was at 2pm so could be due to that but this would be the first time it has completely bought his temp down.

Oh my goodness we've had another response to the cat wanted ad. It's a ragdoll and I love that breed. I've asked DH if we can have 2 and he's said yes so hopefully we don't get anymore responses. I'm waiting to hear back from the lady to know when we can see her.

Rubena · 03/02/2011 16:41

Long day at my friends doing play date plus hair Grin
Lady I have just sent off the Aus Form Sp deliv. Will FB you x

Thanks all, my brother and family were fine. They all slept in his ground floor kind of games room thingy (which has concrete walls) but no damage except part of his fence down. Yeah Vag, they copped the brunt of it slightly further south as you said, but still I'm surprised there wasn't more damage given it's size.
He runs a Nature based sort of student excahnge type school where kids for (mainly Japan) but also other place I think learn team building, recreational skills mostly outdoors etc whilst learning or improving on their English language skills. mainly school groups, as he used to do a lot of the sales / marketing trips to Japan and China so I used to meet him there for a freebie hotel room sometimes Grin I'm not worried about the comment to the two staff members too much. They are actually his number 1 and 2 permenants and I know them, plus they are used to my brother taking the piss out of them all the time! He pays them a hefty salary for not really earning it (imo)so they can suck it up. They know me, and they know I was just worried Hmm

Got ds a buggy board last night for the lightweight stroller as mil had been saying I should since she struggles with the double. he loved it in the kitchen Hmm but refused today at the shops. then finally got him on it, he giggled for about a minute then wanted to get off Confused does anyone else know if maybe he's just scared and a little young for it? or had any similar experience but then they ended up liking it or should I just eBay it now [gein] Nah I'll persist but I hope he takes to it!

Where is Mom? Hope she is OK.

Beans glad your dad's in such good spirits Smile good on him. Hows dd's bum?

vagola, ds1 any better this afternoon?

Right gotta sort dinner. DH has been bitching recently about too many late nights, so I want to force him to bed early. he's no good at conversation anyway when he's tired so what's the point of him "staying up to be sociable casue he feels bad if he goes to bed early" Hmm whatever....

Rubena · 03/02/2011 16:44

x-ed Vag. Cute ds2! Glad he's feeling better

zoejeanne · 03/02/2011 17:00

trace how did the cpn visit and bosses phone call go? You get on with your boss, don't you? If so, I'd guess she's just being friendly and wanted a chat and maybe to update you on any office news. Gorgeous house, big enough for you to host a northern meet up Wink

vag Emily the rat hamster will explode with all those cats! But how lovely to have some pets in your new house

Training was ok, a change of scenery from the office if nothing else. I did stand up and make a totally irrelevant comment at one point, because no one was offering to chip in and I knew the trainer from my old job and felt sorry for her - will now be known as the Crazy Lady who talks about Random Stuff Blush

traceface · 03/02/2011 17:22

zj you've made me smile, imagining your random sympathy-for-the-trainer comments! CPN visit was fine - thanks for asking. I guess she's just keeping a close eye while I'm changing meds and she's so pleasant and gentle, yet helpful, I don't know why I was worried. My boss rang - yeah we get on fine - and she just said how are you, so I gave answer along the lines of LadyT's suggestion, and she let me know she'd signed my time sheet and other such stuff, and asked me to send her my sick note when I get it. So again, needn't have worried [rolls eyes at self] And if we go for (and get) that house I will definitely host a meet-up!
I've had a better day today, which is odd as I expected to feel much worse with my ever decreasing happy pill dose, but I enjoyed my walk in the sunshine, and have hardly cried at all today Smile. I just took L to Rainbows and have already made tea, so was driving back thinking how pleased I was with myself for having managed to make tea, then burst into tears for feeling proud of such a miniscule achievement, and felt ridiculous that I'm in such a place that having made tea is the most I've managed in weeks Sad.
Vag that's good about the cats. Although I guess you'd need to check that both the cats like other cats! Glad ds1 has brightened up a bit.
Rubs I'm so glad to hear your bro and family are safe and well. It must be a relief for all of you.

Beans33 · 03/02/2011 17:25

V quick one - Rubes - DD1 hated her buggy board for about a week and now loves it. But I don't use it for long journeys, just sojourns. Great word!

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 18:26

Yet again I'm trying to put the boys to bed whilst reading MN and someone has to write something that makes me laugh. ZJ I'm sorry but your random stand up comment made me giggle. Could you not have just raised your hand. In my mind you always have that spotted rain coat on, so for me you have stood up, whilst wearing the raincoat indoors and you've let out a loud 'eh eh eeeehhhhh' ala that character from Little Britain.

I forgot to say happy new year as its Chinese new year. DS1 feeling perkier this afternoon wanted to celebrate and put up decorations but I've no idea where our Chinese decorations are so I just put all read bedding in for him and he has a red night light. He has also gone to bed in a little red Chinese silk outfit he found un.his dress ups, its a little small but he was happy. We'll take some decorations with us to centerparcs and celebrate there.

DH is on his way home, hooray. We won't be leaving.until after lunch so I might try to fit in a gym session in the morning. I need some time with my own personal space.

JamInMyWellies · 03/02/2011 18:27

Rubes completely forgot to ask about your bro earlier. Glad to hear he wasn't badly affected. Poor old Oz is really taking a battering at the mo.

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 18:32

Oh and Rubes the frames came, they are perfect! Thanks so much. I'm going to get DH to put the lenses in tonight. Also DS1 loved the buggy board but he was 3 when he started using it. He used to pretend it was a skateboard, and his favourite trick was doing a running start. He would make me push the pushchair using only one handle and then he would run up from behind and jump into the board. So funny.

Beans33 · 03/02/2011 19:11

HAHA! ZJ's comment was funny enough, but now picturing her making that noise off Little Britain has made me laugh a lot. Class.

Vag - with you on needing personal space. Have had a lovely lovely afternoon - went for a walk with the DDs and fed bread to the ducks on Tooting Bec Common, then went to the swings and DD1 went down the big slide, which she loves. Then she had a choccie icecream, which went all over her face. Then we headed back with DD2 crying all the way. She wouldn't go to sleep and even when we got home, she wouldn't sleep in her cot either. So got her up and had supper and bath. At milk time, DD1 then threw her slipper in DD2's face causing screams all round from pain and indignance at being put on naughty step! Put DD2 to bed as she was so overtired at 6.15 and she has been screaming ever since and has LITERALLY just shut up and gone to sleep. I had to give her 3oz extra milk. DD1 now in bed, but bet your arse she'll be up again shortly. Although she stays in bed, just screams. DH needs to come home soon, before I drink the house dry!

He is doing another long run on Saturday morning, then we're heading down to Sussex to stay with friends. I will be doing most of the childcare yet again. When oh when will I get a full weekend of DH again???! Whinge whinge. One day, I would like to come first on someone's list!!! Sorry. Boring.

Happy Chinese New Year, Vag!

Beans33 · 03/02/2011 19:21

Just want to add, this is not a spectacularly bad day, I know, but am being a brat and feel like I am so far down the pecking list as to have disappeared off Everyone's radar!! DH does his running and gets yet more time off from childcare. Then complains because I say I'm tired AGAIN. Maybe if he did more solo childcare, he'd understand a bit how I feel!! Hee v good with them at weekends, but I'd like a day off now! I think the office is like being on holiday!! Bring on Barcelona. Right. I have droned on spoiltly for long enough. Everyone in same boat. Think I just suddenly feel a bit undervalued and unappreciated. Need to make a scene!!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 03/02/2011 19:30

Am I the most unoriginal housewife of all time with that complaint??!

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 03/02/2011 19:34

It was Jolly with the raincoat, Vag, wasn't it? I am elephant memory woman.

Trace, I am really glad the call with your boss went ok. As for feeling proud of small achievements, I would say that's very much allowed! The house looks lovely still, I can see why you're keen...Only two small queries. Would it bother you, if it's remote? Some people like to have neighbours (I don't, particularly, despite my love of cities). Other thing is if the central heating is oil powered, check the price of oil. (Mind you, probably no more expensive than gas!)

Rubes, as to Monday, have been looking and found some soft play centres - one in West London, here, one at Putney Bridge and one near Fulham Broadway. If you aren't bringing DS I am not at all fussed about going to any of these as they are hellish. We could go to RFH if you like - I guess there are lots of eating places there, inc Ping Pong! Will you be coming into Waterloo? I will have both princesses. No worries bout form, I am here all day tomorrow.

I keep saying I am going to do a catch up but keep getting dragged off into other things Nice you are thinking of getting a cat, Vag. I'm more of a dog person tbh but I like to hear of older animals getting a new home.

LadyThompson · 03/02/2011 19:37

Beans, I feel your pain. Even though I had last Saturday to myself. I would say...tell him. Ringfence an evening or a weekend morning and arrange to do something purely for yourself. When's Barcelona anyway?

Beans33 · 03/02/2011 19:51

That's a great idea, Lady. I think I might go to the cinema, even if on own. Evenings don't count as kids in bed anyway. A daytime with time out would be amazing. I do go running sometimes, but it's half an hour. Not long enough! Or I'll have lunch with some friends. That would be nice.

Barcelona a month on Saturday. Bring it on. But slightly grumpy resentful part of me says we're only going because DH doing the marathon, otherwise we wouldn't. But I mustn't think like that, he is paying and I will enjoy snoozing in the day and having one lie in. The other days we have to get up for flights or the actual marathon! Whine whine.

OP posts:
vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 20:08

Yeah, I love dogs too Lady, I'd love a golden retriever, DS1 wants a Jack Russell. Poor little man is more excited about one day going home to Australia one day, so he can get a dog, than being near his nanna pippy. Anyhoo, cats for now though I love them too. When I was little we had several cats, dogs, guinea pigs, birds, chickens, sheep, cows and a horse. Oh we had ducks once and a pig but they didn't really work out.

Dinner time

Rubena · 03/02/2011 20:23

Vag so glad you got the frames and in one piece!
I'm been runing around doing a million things just since I was here before! Went to the farm shop to get firewood and some Veggie's as a last minute quick decision then ds was starving so got back and decided to make him pasta bolognaise. the realised I had no tom's so made him shepherds pie and froze the rest for him, then decided I had sausages to use up which were really yummy one's and dh might want a sausage casserole. I think I'm having my soup tonight. had about 3 different meals on the go. TV broke down mid Waybuloo and ds went totally berko Shock so tried for the whole time he was eating dinner to fix that as he just kept pointing to the telly Blush dd was also starving so gave her some fruit and then ds some yogurt which he didn't eat all of so gave dd about 3 spoonfuls [eek] was that bad? it was proper grown up yogurt from the farm shop. She loved it Grin

Beans you need a night / day out! When are you going to meet up with some of us again? Please do soon Grin

Thanks for the feedback on the buggy board. I suspect he is just a little cautious and felt safe in the house but then outside was a little nervous of it all. Didn't help that he fell asleep on the way back from South london today and then woke up and wanted out of the car badly so was in an awful mood!

I was driving over to my friends house quite early I thought this morning and i was so wound up by the time I arrived with the traffic! I cannot stand traffic in London!! it made me want to run to the hills and move even further countryish!! Don't know how dh lived there so long, but he didn't cycle around town then - now he does and gets so frustrated when he drives. Took me an hour and a quarter to get to South London Angry

Lady. I'm not going to bring ds as mil is desperate for him / them both actually, band she wants me to leave dd too,but I would bring her if anyone else was bringing littles or wanted to say hi to her as she's pretty hassle free. Grin I have to take them to her house this time as she has to make sure she is home around 5pm which she wouldn't be if she was waiting for me to get back and then had to drive home. She has a direct train to Waterloo East and so I will be coming in there and my appointment is at Aldwych just over the bridge? RFH would probably be easiest if that would work for you and anyone else that can join us, but I'm happy to go elsewhere if it suits better providing I can get back to my appointment and I have to be there 5-10 mins early they say Hmm Can anyone else make it to RFH or nearby on Mon? We can grab some lunch there if it's easier with the dd's and even a cheeky cheerfulness if anyone cares to partake!

Right must go and eat dinner. Vag how's the soup going for you?

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 20:48

It's great Rubes I had it for lunch today and then DH made tom yum soup for dinner. I kinda prefer my soup though as the paste he used wasn't as nice as the one he used to use in UK. Ive been putting some miso soup paste into the csd as well. It's so yummy. I've got enough left for lunch tomorrow then will make some more when we get back from centerparcs.

Rubena · 03/02/2011 21:29

Oh I have some miso soup mix. Might put it in next batch - sounds nice Grin I love Tom Yum Soup too, and Tom Kah Gai, but that's not as good for you Grin

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 21:47

Rubes, DH just put my lenses into the frames, perfetta!!! Thank you so much again. I can't believe these are a £400 pair of glasses that I just got for £13 plus postage (obviously I still owe you) you are awesome thank you so much. I did sometime wrong on the paypal and it won't let me use my credit card but will start again with my account. Thanks again so so much you are a legend.

vagolaJahooli · 03/02/2011 21:50

Rubes missed your last post, put it in just as your about to serve it, so each time you heat up a serving, otherwise you lose all the goodness & digestive enzymes in the miso. Again your a legend, I am no longer in 2nd pair, cheapy glasses hell. These frames are soooo comfortable, god bless you and Marc Jacobs.

Rubena · 03/02/2011 23:15

Vag - you're hilarious! No problem, glad they worked out Grin Thanks for the miso tip - will do, sounds yum. Right, attempting to turn in now. Early night for me Hmm

zoejeanne · 04/02/2011 08:30

Morning all

ladyT is right, it was jolly with the spotty mac not ms. Shame, at least then I'd be the Crazy, Yet Still A Little Bit Stylish, Talking Lady

trace making tea is pretty much my only achievement in the last 2 years, and I'm always proud of myself

beans I completely agree on the personal space thing. When I was on mat leave I actually pro rata'd annual leave from a 37 hour week and asked DH for something like 70 days off. I didn't get them

Tea at the pub with the Mum's from toddler group tonight. It's always fun, but embarrassing how blotto we always get when finally given the opportunity for wine and adult conversation
