Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JuicyLips · 11/02/2011 14:06

I meant You're not your, am tired today.

ursigurke · 11/02/2011 20:18

fruit, I really hope things in your house will soon be back to normal. Such a long period of sickness is so difficult.

banana-walnut, could you please stop talking about disgusting things like that? Wink I am still a bit difficult foodwise and find it really hard to find something I like. The other day I called my husband with a whole list what he should bring for dinner and when he came home an hour later, I found everything really disgusting again. Oh, well, this stage will soon be over and then you will even be allowed to talk about porridge.

DWB, how was strictly? I'm sure you had a great evening.

sleep, well last night was a bit worse than the previous, Paula woke up at 10pm but 3min of carrying her around were enough and then at 5am again when it was really difficult. Eventually she went back to sleep but only on my chest.
Her mood was as bad as yesterday so maybe my latest theory about sleep-mood-relation is just not quite right...
TBH, I think she is teething again.

I hope you'll all have a lovely weekend with your family!

Fruitpastels · 11/02/2011 20:42

Thanks ursi. How many weeks pg are you now? You're bringing back some memories talking about your MS. I couldn't even look in my fridge as it would make me feel sick! As you said, it will pass very soon. Sorry Paula had a less successful night. The sleep camp in this house isn't too good either. Chicken pox and teething is not a good combination. My poor baby looks dreadful with all the blisters Sad

Juicy Did your DS enjoy his first disco?

DWB Would love to see strictly live. Hope you had a lovely time!

skorpion hope your improved sleep last night continues Smile

PavlovtheCat · 11/02/2011 21:50

fruit i am a lurker on the fledgings thread...i shine my sink. That is about it Grin

PavlovtheCat · 11/02/2011 22:11

fruit also meant to say I hope things get a bit easier for you with the spots and sickness.

scarlotti · 11/02/2011 23:38

fruit hope the pox goes soon and life gets brighter

Ursi sorry to hear about the ms

Rubbish at housework here too!

Went to see the kings speech tonight with DD, was great. We go to pick up our kittens tomorrow morning, very exciting and will be the extent of any lingering broodiness for me!!

Teething here has improved again, a friend is a homeopath and gave me some pills that are a form of tissue salts. They seem to do the trick as he's definitely less troubled by teething when he takes them.

PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 05:52

ok ladies. You say I have a way with words. So try this...

Roo SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUP.

That's quite a nice way of putting it right? Wink

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 06:04

Oh dear pav bad night? You could say sleep didn't happen here or if it did then I didn't notice Sad C doesn't know what he wants at the moment. Roll on bedtime.

PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 06:13

Oh fruit have you been up for a while? how is he feeling? You must be exhausted.

Roo woke at 5:17am which is good for him, but he did not go to ed til 8:15pm as I had visitors with their little one and I thought maybe he prefers later nights...nope. So he is up around normal time and very tired. His crying has woken DD up, at 5:40am, and she went to bed late too last night, today is going to be Hard Work (especially if I add into the mix that DH got in from a night out at around 3:30am so likely to be as useful as a chocolat teapot today!).

PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 06:14

Do you have anyone to help you out today?

PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 06:15

Roo is crying now, he settled for 10 mins about 20 mins ago, and he was just calming down a moment ago and now is all fired up again.

I don't know if I should persevere as he is really tired, or get him up now and put him down for a nap early (another laugh there)

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 07:37

Have been up a lot with him during the night and started our day at 5am. He is itching and feels so poorly. DH is abroad. He has managed to be away for each of the DS' pox. Not his fault but stressful for me. I'm sure he will take over on monday and give me a rest. My MIL is a huge help and will take DS1 out tomorrow to give me a break. I keep telling myself it won't be for much longer. Sorry your day has started so early. Hope your day improves.

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 07:38

Hope he settled for you pav

PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 07:43

fruit if I was closer, I would come over with the kids, plonk them in front of the tv and make you a huge coffee/run you a bath and take over for a bit. In the absence of that it is fresh not instant, will give you a zing!

Roo did not sleep again, he became stressed, started doing that little pipping noise he does when stressed, and when I picked him up he did the heavy breathing and shuddering as he breathed out. I won't do that to him unless I absolutely have to and DD was up anyway. I shall just keep trying each morning.

scarlotti · 12/02/2011 09:45

Pav, Fruit sorry to hear you've had such rubbish nights.

Pav If I were you, I'd hunker down for a few hours and keep them entertained, then a nice big early lunch followed by a group nap in your bed whilst DH then gets up and sorts out the house.

Fruit do you have piriton? I found that takes the worst of the itching away, and that oat bath thing really does work although is a bit minging to look at. Hope he's better soon.

We're off to get our new kittens now - excited!! Grin

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 10:04

scarlotti I'm doing both and adding calpol in between as he is running a temperature. The problem with piriton is the dosage amount. It's works really well but he's only allowed 2 x 2.5ml a day. Not enough to keep him settled all day. The spots are like craters. All part of being a parent but not nice to deal with. He is sleeping soundly now. I hope your DH and DD can make a fresh start. I'm sure with time it will happen. How many kittens are you getting?

pav Thank you Wink I was going to suggest the same as scarlotti. No point battling the day naps. I'm sure he'll give you a big nap today and you can get some rest.

Talking of naps. I have done things so differently with C. DS1 was napping in his cot twice a day, then once when a bit older. We were like clock work. C is a law unto himself and I have found it tough not having a regimented routine. I like control which has clearly gone out of the window and C has made me a lot more relaxed.

scarlotti · 12/02/2011 13:27

Fruit can you alternate some ibuprofen in there too? Not wanting to sound like I'm suggesting you drug your son, but I know just how awful it is for them when they get it bad. Poor lad, hopefully he'll be over the worst of it soon and your DH will be able to give you a break when he returns. Dreadful timing as you say.
Thanks about DH and DD, I hope they can build bridges too. I went to relate again last night and am finding the sessions really helpful now. Am learning to get rid of old baggage and unwanted experiences and how to stop them all holding me back. Am feeling much more positive for the future than I have done in a long time. Hopefully that future will include DH and we will both be better versions of ourselves, but if it doesn't I feel much better placed to be good at a relationship in the future.

We have 2 kittens - Gavin and Stacey Wink and they are very sweet, although very wary of us at the moment. Hopefully they'll settle in soon.

Naps - am much more relaxed with DS2 too, DS1 was much more of a routine boy but Ds2 more go with the flow. I wonder is that true of more 2nd and onwards siblings? Ds1 was almost like a first child as DD was 11 when he came along. DS2 just has to fit in with things a little more.
Funny how they can make you relax more though, I too am a bit of a control freak, but am now finding that with 3 dc's all needing me in different ways I have to relax more otherwise the stress is just overwhelming! I see a better me emerging! Grin

DontWorryBaby · 12/02/2011 13:41

Scarlotti You sound so at ease with everything at the moment, lovely to hear you so positive. Gavin & Stacey are great names... I remember when my brother got two fish and called them Foot & Mouth!

Well Strictly was fantastic last night! Pamela Stephenson won, as it was Glasgow, altho Kara tointon and Matt baker were equally brilliant. And for any fans - Artem said he thinks Kara is the keeper - how romantic!! I'd recommend trying to see the live shows for any fans at the next tour, we had an absolute ball.

On bus home from another Uni tutorial and bump is quite uncomfortable. I think I need a rest this afternoon so hopefully meeting DH & DS for lunch then home for a relaxing afternoon & evening in. Can't wait.

Hugs to pav and fruit, hope you are both coping ok x

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 14:06

I agree you do have to relax more (to keep your sanity) with 2nd and onwards siblings. We are always on duty. When DS2 was born, we had a pre-school run for DS1 to be maintained and now a school run. It didn't really matter if DS1 would nap longer in the afternoon as he would have a later bedtime and not a problem. No chance of DS2 doing that apart from on weekends. C is on his 3rd nap of the day. I have the ibuprofen ready for this evening. He is a nightmare taking his medicine though. Due to the fact I've had to pump so much in him over the past weeks. He had a really runny nappy after lunch and the poor little boy has the pox around his bottom and genitals. I'm worried they will become infected. I gave him an oat bath and cleaned him up and it helped settle him for his nap. Another quick bath tonight i think.

Love the kitties names. Hope they don't give you sleepless nights! I'm not really a cat person but I love dogs and sadly I'm very allergic to them.

You sound like you're in a happier place scarlotti and you deserve to be Smile.

Fruitpastels · 12/02/2011 14:09

Get some rest DWB. You sound like you haven't stopped for a couple of days. Didn't realise you were attending uni. Are you studying? Glad you had a lovely evening. Sounds amazing.

DontWorryBaby · 12/02/2011 14:23

Just through the open university fruit, I only attend about one tutorial per month, which isn't compulsory but I always feel like I should make the effort. Just coincided with a busy week so I'm exhausted!

OP posts:
PavlovtheCat · 12/02/2011 19:20

DWB definitely rest! Strictly is not my bag At All, but will perhaps watch it next year with DD just so she can watch some dancing, but I bet it would be good live. I would probably enjoy it live, same with stuff like football, live it can be great, on tele .

scarlotti you definitely sound more positive as echoed by others, you sound like you are in a good personal place right now. I hope Relate continues to work for you and you and DH can sort things out for the best however that might be. Love the names of the kittens!

Naps..HA! Roo is not in the habit of sleeping much in the day! He is quite random really. He used to nap on the morning school run and stay asleep for up to 1.5 hours or so, and then perhaps 45 mins in the afternoon. Then the morning one stopped. Moved to 11am ish, continued with afternoon one, and now, we are at 30 mins in one day if we are at all lucky! DH drove him around for over an hour to try and get him to sleep at 2pm while I took DD to a birthday party...did he sleep? no, he screamed down DHs ear the whole time ha. But he did nap for 30 mins at midday. So, both kids in bed asleep right now, been in bed since 7pm. But Roo is so tired he did not eat very much tea. So that means he is likely to wake tonight.

scarlotti · 12/02/2011 22:36

DWB loving Foot and Mouth!! Hope you managed to get some rest today.

Thanks ladies, I am feeling more positive and relaxed about things. The relate lady is brilliant and making me see/think about things differently. She said that a lot of the baggage has been holding me back, so I'm looking forward to a new way of thinking. Makes it easier to get through the tough days, knowing that I'm on course to do things differntly.

Kittens have been hiding in their carrier since they got home. Hoping tomorrow they'll come out a little more, although I imagine it must be very odd for them and scary without their mum and familiar surroundings. They are in the kitchen/utility bit - I've been roasting chicken today and then have made stock so hopefully they will like the smell of their new home at least!! Grin

PavlovtheCat · 13/02/2011 10:23

{shock] Shock 7:00pm - 6:15am ! Shock Grin I also had a lie in til 9:15am, after a 15 min cuddle at 6:15am with both kids.

Typically, I was still awake much earlier than that though!

Fruitpastels · 13/02/2011 19:00

Wonderful news Pav!! Long may it continue Smile
