Hello Hello,
Bebe how is it all now?
On films, K watches Shrek the Halls and gets scared when Santa eats gingy's girlfriend (well that said he did! When he watched it last week, he started laughing at that part!!) She's probably too young to understand most of it and as she grows up you will teach her right from wrong so she will know that certain actions are not nice.
Puzz how's the chest??
Well it's drama, drama, drama in the Bolat foreign household this week...
K was poorly on Monday (temp of 39.1) so we took him to the local hospital dr. 'He has a throat infection' - Really I ask, he hasn't been holding his throat, he is not hoarse, are you sure? 'Yes, yes, take (and pay for) this prescription that has a million and one things and then give him everything AND come back for penicillin injections everyday' hmmm. So we give him the syrup, suppositories (even though I don't believe in them and they give me the creeps) and two days of injections which I personally object to but DH wants to do them. Meanwhile his temp goes up to 39.2 the next morning. Treck back to Dr Stupid, 'don't worry they say, it will take a while to kick in?' - Yes but surely it shouldn't be getting worse?!?!
ANYWAY - yesterday evening his temp went to 39.6 and he was like a little limpet. 'Shall we go back to the hospital?' AH NO (from both DH and I). I called our travel insurance company and got the details of the nearest private hospital we are covered for and drove the 30 minutes to get there. By the time we arrived K's temp was 39.9, he was vomiting, not focusing on anything and just not 'there'. To make matters worse a red pin prick rash came out over his body from the neck up and down do his hips. It was horrendous, I thought he was dying (yes I know I tend to overreact!) but it was like my insides were being ripped out watching him there.
The lovely, lovely team took one look at him, took him straight to emergency and put him cooling blankets, gave him a cold shower and put him in his wet PJs. The pead dr came, was brilliant with him (given that K was screaming at the top of his lungs when they were doing the exam and blood tests), explained to me in English what was happening and settled us in for the night. K was on a drip for about 15 hours to cool his body down and get the antibiotics in him quick smart.
Tests show he has a severe viral infection (funny his throat is fine) and the sheer temperature of his body cause the rash. He has been monitored all day at the hospital and has a course of antibiotics to help kill anything left. Despite looking like a pin cushion, tired and clingy, he is much better and signs of my little boy there (most notably jumping off my lap when the nurse offered him a lollypop and asking for 'SHREK' at the top of his lungs!
Fingers crossed he carries on improving and we can fly home on Friday.
Moral of the story. Make sure you hug your babies every day. I thought I was going to lose mine yesterday and all I could think about was 'I haven't given him any hugs today'
On a happier note, the hospital room we had was AMAZING. Better than any hotel I have stayed in
. Shame we had to leave it really
