JetLi · 10/06/2011 13:48

JetLi · 10/06/2011 13:54

Very exciting news QF Grin

Can't believe my little man will be 2 next week Shock and has a visit to his preschool nursery type thing which he starts in September (3 mornings a week) ShockShock. He'll be one of the youngest, but I reckon he'll be one of the toughest with 3 older brothers!

JetLi · 15/06/2011 10:34

Happy 30th Birthday QF for last week Smile

lol at multiple tests - I did lots with both pregnancies Grin

QueenFee · 15/06/2011 19:54

Right ladies wish me luck...
I have just put Alfie to bed without mummy milk!
I totally changed his routine. Gave him a bottle of milk downstairs whilst watching his favorite film. Then told him he was going to bed like a big boy like cerys and fin. Walked him up stairs (i usually carry him) and he giggled all the way up! Put him into bed and offered him the bottle again. He never asked to feed. I then said his prayers sung a song as i do the others gave him a kiss and cuddle and came downstairs.
So now sitting waiting to see if he goes off to sleep

I am not giving him milk in the night if he wakes just water so we shall have a long night of crying I expect :(

My 30th was back in may but only just got round to organising a night out!
Jlo alfie starts playgroup in january which will be good timing 3 days a week. Then he starts school nursery every day in sept uniform and all.
That years going to fly by. I have to do drop and pick ups for nursery morning and lunch and infants morning and 3 and also juniors which is on a seperate site!
On the upside it will help me loose the baby weight again!

Phoenix · 16/06/2011 16:44

How did it go QF? He'll soon get the message if you don't give into him but I know it's hard not to x

Noah is been a little brat just lately. Terrible 2's come a month early. If we tell him he can't have something/do something he has starting hitting us, hitting anything else he can reach, screaming, tantruming, throwing himself to the floor. Hopefully it will end soon.

Hope everyone's enjoying the summer Hmm Confused.

OP posts:
QueenFee · 16/06/2011 18:18

Yeah we have the whole tantrum thing now!

He went off to sleep no bother then woke at half 10 and proceeded to have one long tantrum. He woke again about 1 30 and just whinged for about 10 mins.
I just kept saying you can have milk in the morning so when he came through at half 4 and it was light I let him have some he did go back to sleep and slept in, but never asked for milk in the morning.

alibobble · 19/06/2011 14:25

QF: Good job on the milk thing. Congratulations by the way.

Tantrums: Have moved into our house and look set to stay. Becca has also learned the power of the word: No! And she sounds just like George pig when she says it too.

Btw any advice ladies: Buggy refusal: How to t deal with: Becca is houdini and can get out of even the most tightly strapped buggy and also screams the place down if I strap her in. If I really need her in ther she has to be sort of forceably restrained. She want to walk everywhere but it's just not practical. Fine to school and back (10-15 mins) but not to town and back. Any advice/past experience gratefully received. This from the woman who struggled to get her other daughter out of the buggy at 3!

Hopefully today Pete will mend my broken lawn mower cable (mowed over by me!) and tomorrow the man is coming to fix the broken dishwasher. The heating element has gone on my washing machine and the microwave has also broken. These things were all working a few weeks ago. What is going on?!!!

QueenFee · 19/06/2011 14:54

Dan was fixing our dishwasher yesterday :(

Buggy thing. Fin could get out of any straps. I used to have to take the shoulder staps and twist them together. Would she go in a sling? Alfie is much happier having a piggy back than in the buggy. It would also mean she could walk then just be picked up when tired as you could just keep it in your bag ( thats what I do!)

lydiathetattooedlady · 20/06/2011 12:56

Hello! does anyone remember me? seems like ages since ive been on! Ive got internet in my shop now so will spending my time doing really important wool type internet stuff during the day! Havent had chance to read through all the posts since i was last on but first congratulations queenfee and jetli on the bfp and the new arrival!
how has everybody else been?
as their birthdays are coming up, has anyone any ideas on what they're getting their little ones? imcompletely stuck for bill! he only likes playign with stuffed animals or dolls/prams/pushchairs etc of which we have plenty!

alibobble · 21/06/2011 09:32

pressies: beth (5) got a barbie but becca has played with it as much as her so that's a possible for her. beth got some happyland (firestation) from my mum and they both love it cos it makes lots of good noises.

lydia: see you on FB so keep up a little bit. how is the world of wool?

QueenFee · 22/06/2011 13:08

Also keep up with you on fb lydia

We have bought Alfie a tiny proper bike as he keeps trying to ride the others bikes!
My mil is getting him a cozy coupe police car.

Its my other 2 I have no idea what to get!

Phoenix · 22/06/2011 13:43

We've got Noah one of those micro scooters that go from 4 wheels to 3 to 2. Like QF's little one he always tries to ride ds1's scooter. My parents have got him a proper bike with a parent handle.

Lillabet · 24/06/2011 13:27

Hi all, long time no see lydia Smile
I too am having the problem of what to get Sam for his birthday! He likes climbing, dancing and gardening. Any ideas would be great Grin.
I would like to know what happened to my lovely, well behaved little boy Confused, he has turned into a whirling dervish who doesn't listen, throws a strop at being told no, having mummy's phone removed from his sticky fingers and only occasionally does as he's asked and gives me a cuddle! Could those of you who have olders DCs please tell me that it gets better? [hopeful] Smile
I must admit he does still have his moments of being an absolute charmer and when we're out in public butter wouldn't melt so everyone thinks he's an angel Hmm
I still want another one though and we're TTC at the mo [shhh], I think the fact I am still carrying the weight from Sam is a factor in the fact we haven't yet Blush I am working on it though Grin.

QueenFee · 24/06/2011 14:19

It does get better (but then they learn other ways to irritate you!)

Alfie has just started being stroppy and he is really placid sigh its tiresome

I bought Alflie a little tikes pull along trailer last yr and has proved well played with. Could work with the gardening. Have you got a bubble machine another big hit here.

A toy guitar? Or onr of those keyboards with a mike?

alibobble · 25/06/2011 19:46

beth has one of those keyboards iwth a mike and becca adores it. Depend on your buget I suppose. the terrible 2's hit here too. Beth was always very placid... not so becca. Hmmm. I think I'll be consulting the books a bit more with this one! I'm finding distracting is harder this time round as you are always busy doing something else. Was easier with beth.

Phoenix · 25/06/2011 22:45

Snap Ali, much harder this time round here too :o.

Misspaella · 26/06/2011 06:50

Hey everyone
I am back!

QF congrats. WOW. You must be chuffed. If I were younger (I am 36) I would maybe have gone for the 4th but I feel too old as it is to cope with 3. Lol. How are you feeling?

Phoenix Ali All my children have been challenging at the toddler stage and dare I say that is one of the main reasons I wouldn't purposely have more children. It is exhausting. I wish I would have at least had one who made it easy for me. But it does get better. I keep trying to remember that.

Jetli Lydia anyone else I missed* HI!!!

I won't bore you all with my insurance drama but it has been the biggest most stressful situation ever. I lost about 3 kilos in the space of 2 weeks! It has been nearly 6 weeks since the fire in the upstairs flat and everything is a struggle. At least we have been put in a rental property for the next 6 months (phew). Staying at the inlaws past 1 1/2 weeks was not an option so we were then in a hotel. It was madness with the children.

We have a battle ahead of us (confirming what gets written off, what building work we can do and so on) but I just try and remember, we are safe. Our precious belonging are fine and at least we have a house to put our roots down for the next few months.

On another note, the summer holiday is looming - anyone got any plans????

Lillabet · 26/06/2011 09:49

So ladies, in the immortal words of MNetters everywhere, this too shall pass! Grin Okay, thank you all Grin
As Sam loves playing with soil and water, we were thinking a sand and water play table thing - do any of you have one of these, if so would you recommend the one you have?
Misspaella welcome back, good to know you are sorted for accommodation for now at least Smile; I think the phrase "This too shall pass" might come in handy for you while you sort out insurance etc. Just remember to make a note of every bit of correspondence (dates, times, and length of phone calls, who you spoke to and what was said, all letters sent and received etc), so if you do have any problems (I'm sure you won't Smile I am just worst case scenario girl when it comes ot these sorts of things BlushGrin) you can categorically state what was said, when and by whom Grin.
Summer holidays? What are they? Smile I think that's the joys of having only one who isn't of school age yet and being a SAHM Grin. The general plans for the summer are to muddle through as usual and we'll go on holiday once all the kids have gone back to school and it is cheaper Grin, that is if we ever get to go on holiday Hmm. God that sounded smug Blush sorry, wasn't meant to be!
Anyway, off out for a walk with Sam as DH is off sailing in Anglesey Smile.
