Afternoon, just got back from an early visit to the playbarn. Felix fell asleep in the 5 min car journey back and has now collapsed in bed completely wiped out. I;m just waiting for A to go down to so i can get 40 winks myself as it was another crap night. Ah well, weekend nearly upon us Smile

what plans have you all got?

Not sure what we're doing tomo tho have been invited to cinema then pizza express with some friends with children. Sunday we're going to Brighton, just for the day, to visit my mother and eat my own body weight in food i haven't cooked.

chulita i love st albans, really nice place. do you miss it?

mlic no, we don't really need to move, we've got enough bedrooms etc and love our house and the location but... it's not perfect - partly due to having 3 storeys, which isn't easy with two small children. we bought it kind of thinking we'd be here forever but now with 2 children it feels so much smaller and recently we've questioned whether it really is the house for the long-term.

Buying next door (and joining the 2 houses together) started just as an idle 'if we win the premium bonds' fantasy but now it's actually likely to be for sale, dh has got all worked up about it. its so big and has so much potential to arrange it to suit our needs that there would be no reason to ever move again (which appeals enormously to me!) There would also be the chance to use the stables for a business which would be super if i do take redundancy from my job.

I'm really not sure whether it'd be the right decision for the reasons i said but i know i can be a bit reluctant about change and need dh to drag me along with him - he nearly always turns out to be right.

Good luck with the hair cuts everyone!

My mum has bought my wedding shoes Grin

kkfairybrains · 11/02/2011 17:07

Shit tsc that sounds bad. Hope dp steps up to the mark tonight/in the morning and lets you sleep. Makea you wonder where you'd fit a job in between it all :( hope you get to watch the match properly tomorrow. Dp is a bag of nerves already!

Oh bloody hell tsc, x-post I spent too long reading the other posts.

I know how you feel, that drunk/swaying motion feeling from sleep deprivation.

Dylan doesnt go to bed til we do so we rarely get an evening.

Apparently babies who go to sleep before half 8 will sleep better through the night, not sure how true that is though.

cakes house ideas sound amazing, surely worth feeling skint for a while, could you buy it and rent it out til your back at work and can do it up or something?
our plans for weekend is to go to that farm in town as im embarassed that i havent ever been to it then, then we are going ice skating sunday we were going swimmming but looks like L now has a gammy eye!
dp one of our customers got a dress for her wedding from japan she said it is lovely but it took 3 months to arrive with lots of e mails to chase it up as they told her a onth so get your booking in soon, may be same website

DesperateHousewife20 · 11/02/2011 19:55

Argh where do I get this useless, untrue info from?!

memphis, yeah it could well be. I thought she'd be more into the whole bridesmaid thing really. I keep having to chase her up about it Confused

no-one about tonight? wow!

am halfway thru my sisters keeper and man, am i feeling depressed. not sure i'll make it to the end (of the book. not my life). i make a rule to steer clear of depressing films and books so if my book group's choices continue along the same miserylit lines of the last two books then i might be forced to introduce them to the oeuvre of roger hargreaves Grin

Just looking at some pics of Mr F at the same age as A is now and noticed he had his first tooth at exactly 6.5 months. Am wondering if A will be the same (she's just coming up to 6.5m)

anyway, off to bed. here's hoping that all the naughty toddlers sleep soundly (in their own beds) tonight and the babies sleep through [yeah right emoticon]

ps are we going to have a separate thread or summat for our reading group or do it on here? and who's doing the current joyfest of a book aside from me, mlic and tsc?

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 12/02/2011 08:55

I've already read that book cakes and hate reading the same book twice especially when i dont get to read that much so i'll wait til the next one.
Still feeling crap this morning. Im really busy with work this week too so not getting the chance to shake it off! went to bed at 10 last night and awae at 8 and i still feel drained. Poor me! Grin.
Very quiet on here again!

memphis83 · 12/02/2011 09:20

i will be doing book group but local library and book shop havent got it so will wait for next book, i know how depressing the film is and ive been told it was toned doen from how sad the book is so maybe good for me to steer away from it

CakeandRoses · 12/02/2011 11:10

right, important question for you...

is banana bread bread or cake? there's a nice looking recipe i'm thinking of trying but not sure i'll bother if the result is bread, iyswim?

is there a rule of thumb to define cake as opposed to bread as there is with cake and biscuit (if it goes hard when you leave it out it's biscuit apparently, altho i'd want to injure someone if they offered me cake and then gave me a nice, soft spongey jaffa cake!)

OP posts:
Stac2011 · 12/02/2011 12:14

hey ladies, we are quiet. Where is everyone? I'm having to wait till next book i'm afraid. Dont do weepys, sad enough as it is lol.

Dont know about banana bread being cake or bread cakes have you tried ask jeeves?

mlic how you feeling? tsc hows frankie? kk you poor luv you ok?

Nothing happening here. Dp and I sorted after fighting the other night. He knows he should have told me and is really pressured with work so i let him off. In other news the doc thinks i can start coming off the anti d's also to get a thyroid function and blood count check.

Whats everyone up to today? X

DesperateHousewife20 · 12/02/2011 15:38

I dont have time to read and I find if I try to it makes me feel so tired.

Its taken me 7 months to read half a Jill Mansell book.

I had half a lie in, DP came in with D saying he was tired. He wasnt massively tired as Ive just put him in his chair and he slept for all of 2 mins.

Ive just opened my laptop and realised I didnt send this message. I wrote it at 10 this morning so sorry for all the x-posts!

memphis83 · 12/02/2011 15:41

cakes my banana bread is like a tea bread, like a cake in a loaf tin, not dry, dont know why they call it a bread tbh.
right been to the farm it was interesting... took half hour to see everyrhing, still wet outside went into coffee shop and had a baguette and tea, asked if i could have a piece of toast for L sorry we have no bread, oh ok i will go to car and get his lunchbox, she said i couldnt feed him food not bought from there, all there was was chips and cakes for kids 2 things i couldnt give a 7 month old i was livid, i said but you dont have anything for babies, well if i wanted to eat that there is a picnic area in the farm!!!

Ive started on the wine Grin

Chulita · 12/02/2011 18:56

cake I miss my friends but not the city, far too busy for me and everyone's so rushed. I like more chilled out towns tbh. And banana bread is cake in a loaf shape as far as I'm concerned.

memphis that doesn't bode well, mind you I'd have told her where to shove it if she told me to give S either chips or cake.

dh S 'goes to bed' around 6pm ... 'nuff said.

mlic hope you have a lovely night and find some energy from somewhere. Don't overdo it though! Did you find something to wear?

stac glad you and dp are friends again :)

I'm in on the book group and have the book on order at the library, just need to go and pick it up on Monday.

We found a house we really, really like, we need to work out how much we can offer and put an offer in. They're asking above our maximum so we're trying to think how much we should offer first with the option of giving a slightly higher offer if the first's turned down. No idea about house-buying though! I'd love to live in this house though, the view is absolutely gorgeous!

WhatSheSaid · 12/02/2011 19:41

Chulita the property/DIY topic on here is quite good on getting advice on what sort of offer to put in on a house. I have no idea about the market in the UK at the mo but I get the impression it's still a buyer's market isn't it? Or does it depend where in the country you are?

What's the house like? What's the view of?

Am going to look for My Sisters Keeper today, sure I have it somewhere.

Chulita · 12/02/2011 20:31

It's a semi at the top of a cul-de-sac with a decent garden and quite a bit of space at the side. The view is over this gorgeous field and a large hill with a castle on one side. There's a conservatory and a sun-deck type thing so whatever the weather you can enjoy the view. The major drawback is that it's got a very, very, very small kitchen but with the space out the side we'd save up and extend sideways to make it bigger.

I just got the Vertbaudet catalogue in the post

CakeandRoses · 12/02/2011 23:04

chulita the house sounds gorge Smile

how long has it been on the market and how much have others on the street sold for recently? do they have anyone else interested? those factors should guide your offer.

we offered £15k less than the asking price for this price when we bought it in 07 (which was a sellers market) and it was accepted, i always wish i'd gone in lower to begin with!

tsc all ok there? been quiet today

get well soon mlic and kk

how was the shag meal dh? Grin

Right i'm pleased you think banana bread is more cake than bread. will make it next week and will report how it went. memphis does yours have choc chips in it?

Not good at all re the farm. will have a rethink. doesn't have to be exactly leics does it? just round that area.

took F (and A) bowling today and he bloody well won! Shock

oh and i bought some size 12 skinny jeans and they fit fine so i must be pretty much back to my usual size (I've always been a size 10 in everything except jeans which are always 12)! i still weigh a bit more but some of that has to be boobs/milk, right?

off to my mothers tomo so won't be around to post til the evening so catch you all then.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 12/02/2011 23:08

chulita also check when the boiler was replaced last and any other stuff that needs doing/replacing as they can be good negotiation factors.

presume you're chain-free? that's a huge point in your favour which you should take into account when offering.

also ask the agent if the seller is in a hurry to sell/complete.

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 12/02/2011 23:17

View of a castle sounds fabulous. One of the few things I miss over here is really really old stuff. If people here say they have an old house, they mean 1950s Grin
