I actually can't believe how quickly my small baby got so bloody big. I too am keen to see how you do this baby origami.
Sambuca is aniseed isn't it? if so i love it!
what's everyone's drink when out? 'WHEN' out that should be.. Mine's a miller or coors light or white wine and i do like a brandy and coke but don't have them very often

CakeandRoses · 03/02/2011 11:26

v boring here - only drink red wine

in fact, i'm boring with drinks even when not out - i pretty much only drink water, tea and red wine with just the occasional hot chocolate to make things more interesting Hmm

ah, enjoy your day then mlic.

What's the nursery's view on him occasional day (what like monthly)? do they think he'd settle ok?

we continued F's nursery days as we thought it would be better than taking him out and then having to settle both of them into nursery when i return to work again (i barely made it back to work last time as I F was so traumatised by that process!)

I do miss him on nursery days but it's been lovely to have time with just A - and also get some sleep in the day if its been a bad night.

Tis jolly expensive tho - over £400 per month for 2 days a week. Don't even want to think about when A's there too in July...

dont really like aniseed but can drink sambucca, dont like fruity bath stuff but my sis insists on buying it. I love the smell of coconut shampoo. When out I usually drink long vodkas or southern comfort, partial to budweiser and prefer rose wine. Pic n mix are fab, I love the cola bottles that stick in your teeth (every dentists nightmare) Whats your fave sweet or crisps from childhood??

R was a crap sleeper last night too, even when she came into bed. Think I am getting af again so I'm even more of a crabbit bitch.

mlic and kk totally agree now that dr browns bottles are very leaky, since we stopped the carobel there seems to be milk everywher. KK did you go back to normal bottles? how did you get on

ooh and hate all seafood except some fish

kkfairybrains · 03/02/2011 12:24

Monster munch, meanies and moro...yum!!
I never changed yet stac as i got given 6 brand new stage 3 teats for the dr. Browns for free so i'll change back soon enough but in no mad panic to do it

Afternoon all! :)

To add to the stats... Fruit good, fruit flavour bad. Aniseed/liquorice bad. Hot drinks bad, water/soft drinks good. Alcohol ok, but rare. Fish/prawns yummy, quite happy to eat all the ones you lot don't want!

Now that's out of the way, I could do with some advice. The horrendous lovely water company in my area have just politely informed me that my supply is being turned off next Tuesday and Wednesday between 9am - 4pm. Shock Having phoned them up, they've helpfully agreed to drop off an undisclosed amount of bottled water for me, as I have an infant in the house.

Do I:

a) Fill kettles/pans/etc, accept the bottles of water, arrange lunches that don't involve cooking (I normally boil myself & M some pasta!), resign myself to a yucky unflushed toilet during the day and make do.
b) Run away to stay with either my parents/in-laws for the days, abandoning DH (who has work) and making a 150+ mile trip.
c) Pack up a ton of stuff and camp out at a childless friend's house during the daytime until it's over. (I've yet to make any 'Mummy' friends.)
d) Something else...

Answers on a postcard please!

Spirael · 03/02/2011 15:36
  • Any 'Mummy' friends besides you lot, of course. Wink You're all a bit far away for me to just turn up on your doorsteps!

i agree with mlic, a combo of a and c. why not arrange a day trip somewhere which'll get you out most of the day?

mlic what did you do with your son-free time this morning? How was e at nursery?

tsc you reminded me that i also do drink champagne too on occasion but i'm fussy with the brand. Really dislike cheap makes, i'd rather not bother as they just taste like white wine which i don't really like. We sometimes do blind champagne taste-testing with some friends of ours (guess the 'cheap' bottle vs the expensive one) and I always win Smile.

I've had a really chilled day, A seems back to her usual happy self altho can't see a new tooth so not sure what's going on with her. Had yummy lunch with friend and then floated along to have tea with dh in my fave tearooms. Now at home drinking mint tea and having (my 2nd) slice of cake whilst A naps. This is what I remember motherhood being like pre-no 2. I love love love Aurelia but having 2 children does rather cramp the lifestyle Grin

Off for a gorgeous facial shortly- it's a decleor one and there's also a back massage as part of it. dh is coming home early to look after F and A. Can't wait! Also have a (v overdue) haircut booked on Saturday so I will be like a new woman after that.

And then dh seems to think we 'always' get a takeaway on a thursday (we have a few times but only when he says that Hmm). So no cooking today either.

Tomorrow's gonna be a fucker, isn't it?

Bear

your day sounds like bliss cake! tomorrow won't be a fucker as you're having a nice break today and getting treated well so you'll feel ready to face it tomorrow.
spireal i had no water for over 2 weeks at christmas so i'm quite the expert! fill your kettel and any pans of water while you have it. leave any washing up til the evening. believe me 9-4 is fine! wrt toilets..if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down!fill up drums of water for flushing. but honestly it'll be fine. you'll barely notice it. as the others say just go out for a few hours and it'll be fine.

DesperateHousewife20 · 03/02/2011 17:14

Sorry to change the subj- I just need to vent.

I went to Morrisons to get some cheese, now I think about it I should have just gone to the Tesco Express.

Anyway I was reversing into a parent and child space, I know they like to get them near the door but they are awkward to get into.
I use my wing mirrors mainly to reverse so yes I admit I wasnt looking behind me- someone was up my arse. They beeped to obv get me to stop reversing, I put my foot on the brake immediately and didnt touch their car.

So, this bitch girl (teenage chav) was too impatient to let me straighten up and find another space so she tries to shove past me, clearly shes too much of a twat to realise the gap is too small and scrapes my car.

Well that made me livid so I jumped out- as did she- and we started shouting at each other, she claimed I hit her car, I did not.
She however DID, alot.

Im so useless I dont even know what to do in these situations, I looked at the car when I got back home and the only damage is marks which I think can be rubbed off.

Its not even the damage to the car I care about, her mannar was awful, she didnt apologise. She just blamed me, swore at me etc.

Being the coward softie that I am I just said 'it doesnt matter' and hid back in my car.

She phoned someone (I was panicking at that) then drove off. I parked and bought my cheese.
They have a lift in this supermarket to the car park so I was in that and we literally missed each other by seconds (she used the stairs)
She now knows I have a baby. Damn I should have used that against her.

HotGiggity · 03/02/2011 17:24

Aww thats really poop DH, I hate parking.

If she hit you then it's her fault, no matter how loudly she shouts. Just think, you were being a softie, you were being demure...

DesperateHousewife20 · 03/02/2011 17:41

Im 99.9999% sure I didnt hit her.

She DEF hit me. Im scared now, Im worried she's called someone :(

I dont even know who...

Im so sad, I actually cried in my car and hid behind Dylan so nobody would see me Blush :(

Chulita · 03/02/2011 18:27

DH that's horrible :( poor you. Fwiw I wouldn't even have jumped out and said anything but I would've got her car reg and reported her to the police (who wouldn't care). I'm a complete confrontational coward. Supermarkets usually have CCTV, if you're worried you could see if there is one there next time you're in Morrisons, if it's on camera she can't claim you hit her. I wouldn't worry about her phoning someone, these people are mostly just gobby and intimidating. Have a glass of wine, chill out and enjoy being a lovely, sweet person and not some gobby bitch.

i'm with you tsc on the liquorice aniseed being food of the devil! do tell your celeb gossip dont just keep us hanging....

lol at you frinking mlic

i drink rum, rum and more rum well drank should i say as it's been a while. i've only been out once at night without dreya and that was only to a mate's for new year's eve!

dh i wouldn't worry too much about this girl ringing someone but i would definitely check with morrisons to have a look at the cctv especially once you checked your car out properly, it's surprising how much damage can be done that you cant see on cars.

have a lovely day today, met my friend in town for lunch then took our babies for their photo's. her little boy is nearly 3 months old and make dreya look like a giant! got some lively pics altho she looks quite serious in a few but spend nearly £200 so that's coming out my savings but worth it

DesperateHousewife20 · 03/02/2011 19:54

Ahh thanks ladies, its so nice to talk to sympathetic people. You've made me feel better. Ill check to see if it was caught on camera.

well, i just looked so smooth at my facial. fell asleep and woke myself up snoring. Blush I don't even snore, ffs

oh dh, that does sound scary Sad. it's horrid when you come across nutcases people like that as it can dent your faith in humans for a while. Remember, she's an oddity - most people wouldn't dream of being so nasty. Chances are she didn't phone anyone of 'importance', she was probably just doing it because she didn't know what else to do to look menacing.

mlic that sounds great re E in nursery. And well done on his manners Smile and potty training Grin. i actually thought of him a couple of times today - which is downright weird of me, really!

big 'back' of crisps. you do some great typos Grin, says woman of thumble dryer.

tsc nope, i don't think i've tried it but will some time now

how do you feel about the job/interview?
