cakes before slop solids L slept very well, now he is up a lot last night it was 10.30, 1,4 and 6 then got up at 7.30, my dh helps with nights too last night he fell asleep on sofa at 8.30 so we went bed at 10 i fell asleep and decided to pretend i couldnt hear L as he had been asleep longer than me!!! Grin
I really want to see the kings speech, wanted to see black swan but may wait for dvd, mainly because no one will watch it with me!!
I ised to read lots of travel diarys and books on culture and stuff, found them interesting but have never had desire to travel anywhere Hmm
been to group.....lets just say it became lets watch memphis scream and sob for an hour, i ended the session with i just want to be dead :( they were so lovely one of the mums cried through whole explanation of birth they have given me a number of a traumatic birth councellor and have even offered to come and hold my hand if i want

DesperateHousewife20 · 26/01/2011 12:28

stac yes its a fake bake, it looks good! Felt a tad embarrased standing there in just a disposable thong!
Crazy seeing as Ive given birth and more people saw my fanjo on that one day than in my whole life!

CakeandRoses · 26/01/2011 12:43

oh memphis it sounds so hard but you're doing great to keep trucking on and to keep going to the class. Thank heavens you seem to have found a lovely group of women too. really hope it all starts to help soon.

wrt travelling - i was the same as you for years, i really didn't want to go anywhere, I suspect due to being dragged travelling to all sorts of weird places with my father as a child (6 months in a tent situated right next to an ibizan nudist beach anyone?)

It took until I felt settled and in control of my own destiny in my late twenties before i really wanted to travel. I've only ever done it 'my way' (e.g. for 2-3 weeks holidays rather than leaving my job to go for months) but i've been to some amazing places and really enjoyed them.

so one day you might really fancy going off and exploring those cultures you've read about yourself. Smile

oh - and is anyone else doing blw hardcore or is everyone doing a mix of spoon-feeding and blw?

OP posts:
memphis83 · 26/01/2011 12:48

ooh no cakes my idea of travelling has to involve clean toilets and nice beds and no crawlies!! i like the idea of trying different foods though and want L to eat different things i didnt eat an olive til 21 and my god ive made up for it now, i dont know hoe i didnt try them before also curry, im a curry fiend but never ate one til 17!!
my friends have gone 'travelling' their photos look so glam, no backpacks or walking shoes the are full make up hair done lovely dresses travelling thailand!!! im happy with centerparcs!!!

CakeandRoses · 26/01/2011 12:56

yy that's kinda what i mean - i needed to do it with the choice to stay in nice places and always have a hot shower etc.

saying, that i have roughed it a few times too and sort of enjoyed that too although more with hindsight than in the doing!

e.g. it's hard to go on safari without some creepy crawlies (e.g. we had a scorpion in our 'cabin') and lots of dirt but i had to work up to that with luxury either side of the actual safari Grin

OP posts:
memphis83 · 26/01/2011 13:50

i would love a safari scopions wouldnt bother me we used to have one when i was a baby and we have a pic of me in a highchair touching it! its the things that burrow into your skin!!! and the unknown, disneyworld have a safari hotel where its in a safari park maybe that will do me!!! Grin i would say a safari park but i adore my little rattly fiesta too much to put it through the monkeys!!! we were going to Austrailia next year and camper van it but we are putting it ogg a few years so L remembers it but that will be a luxury camper or i wont go!!
so mlic did you said E in pants?

Chulita · 26/01/2011 14:04

Magic goo has finally arrived (after I ordered another pot from the local shop that I didn't know stocked it, grr) applied to the worst wrist and now just waiting to make sure she doesn't react and then I'll sit her in a tub of it.

tsc I proper chuckled at C's 'little homeless person' impression, so cute!

stac they finally squeezed in an appt for us at about 5pm and I completely forgot Blush so now I have to eat humble pie and get another appt...oops!

memphis pet scorpions and those little tiny sand coloured ones are 2 very different things. I used to get the horrible ones in my little house in Mexico and they were awful. People used to keep dogs cos they'd sting the dogs and they'd die but at least they wouldn't get the children :(

Argh, Sam's awake, back in a tick!

memphis83 · 26/01/2011 14:11

chulita they get dogs as bait!!! oh my god im staying in the UK, and maybe venture to France at some point!! Grin

Chulita · 26/01/2011 14:24

Hah, it's not that bad 'out there' Grin I love travelling but DH is a real home-body so I think until I win him over my travelling days are over. I have plots to take him to Mombasa first and then on from there.

I used to read a lot but I'm afraid I love novels rather than anything factual. I do polish off a book quite quickly though so I don't buy them, seems pointless to buy a book that'll only last a couple of days. I do have some good reference type books on self-sufficiency and how to make stuff but I don't bother buying novels anymore.

mlic how's the potty training going?

cake we're not pure blw, I want to get some stuff into him. Last night he had baby rice with apricot and I'm attributing (probably incorrectly) his good sleep to that.

Stac2011 · 26/01/2011 15:10

not completely blw'd here either cakes think more so because we had to wean early

chulita hope they manage to fit you in quick hun, good luck with the cream

memphis I am a total homebody, dont mind being away for about a week but no longer furthest away I have been is gran canaria. Maybe in the future

dh I got one done for my baby shower (that I didnt have due to Rileigh pretending to make an appearance) I was 8 months pregnant standing there in my drawers and a big droopy belly lol

memphis83 · 26/01/2011 15:18

stac im a homebody for sure i went to Florida..day 5 i was crying i wanted to go home, no i wasnt a child it was 3 years ago, day 5 anywhere and ive had enough!!!

my support worker has just called i missed the call and got a very worried voicemail, oh shit they think im nuts and are going to lock me up!!! too scared to call her back!!!

Spirael · 26/01/2011 16:23

Afternoon all! Glad to hear there were some good sleepers last night. (Though sorry to hear about other disturbances!) I'm sure you'll all be Grin over the fact that M actually woke last night! She's mastered rolling back to front in her sleeping bag, but not the other way around...so gets stuck and calls for help!

I've nearly managed to drop BFing here. We're down to just a few minutes on each side once per day, I hope to stop completely in the next week or so. I was worried M might miss it and keep turning in towards me with her mouth open expectantly, but she doesn't seem to care as long as her tummy is filled regularly. Confused Oh well, makes me feel less guilty!

Is anyone else of the BFing lot planning to stop soon? And of the ones who already made the shift to formula...how long did it take for your milk supply to stop?

I love travelling! Though tend to limit it to about two weeks at a time. I tend to miss the internet computer xbox360 comforts of home if I stay away too much longer. I did Florida 2 years ago, memphis. :) I loved it, but then my entire plan was to act like a child before having one myself. Grin Nothing like running around Disney Hollywood Studios with my equally insane DH in Starwars costumes...

Still planning emigration over to Canada, but I get to take my home comforts with me for that one. Hopefully we should get permanent residence some time this year, then can escape move in 2012... [crosses fingers] Have you moved countries a lot, Chulita? Any words of wisdom..?

Good thing about Canada... Not too many creepy crawlies. Shock at scorpions! I got freaked enough by the monstrous spiders in my garage last weekend. One the size of my fist tried to run up my leg. Confused

Sometimes I wish I could stop BF but its just so handy to get Dylan to sleep, its lazy I know but if it works why stop?

Ive noticed since weaning he is wanting it less. Def less at night too which is good.

memphis did you phone the lady back? If we were nearer we'd all come with you Grin

spirael I grew up in Madagascar, went to boarding school in Kenya, moved back here when I was 18, and spent a year in Mexico as part of uni. The places I've lived in have been pretty basic unlike Canada so I don't think my tips would be relevant! :)

I was watching S bf to sleep and had a mini-pang. He's 6 months already and I'm only planning on bfing til 12 months so he's over halfway there Blush cue thoughts of number 3 again

dh I bf S to sleep, keep thinking of stopping but yep, it works so well at the mo why stop? Grin and I'm only going to feed him for a few more months so I'll let him make the most of it!

mlic if you go back to the last thread I was only just whinging that S was stuck at the turtling stage and now he's scooting backwards around the floor, seriously, one day he was a trapped beetle and the next he was looking ready to go!

tsc wow! sounds like you had a right crap time of it, well done for working through it and cracking on with Clara - can't have been easy.

Dylthan · 26/01/2011 19:48

I'm hoping to continue bf until she's 2 although if she wants to stop before then that would be fine.

Dylan loves scooby doo and Macdonalds have got him in their happy meals so as a treat on Sunday (and after much pestering) we took him. It was the only place I've ever felt un comfortable bf.

Everyone was looking at me like this Shock I was sat at the table by myself as b wanted feeding now and d and dh were getting the food. I was so embarrassed. A woman in the table next to me was looking over and then whispered something to her friend who spun round to have a good gawp and a couple of people who were passing actually stopped in their tracks to give me a cats bum mouth it was horrible [Sad] it made me want to stop bf altogether. Sad

I pretend I don't care what people think but I do care alot

Still I suppose it serves us right for eating in Macdonalds Wink

HotGiggity · 26/01/2011 19:55

cakes I guess cos it's only one night and he sleep through the wakings on the other nights he's fine...he always seems fine and he'd say if he wasn't.

We're pretty much BLW but have start in the last couple of days to give DS a 'pudding' after dinner, such as semolina or yoghurt which is by spoon. He's not quite got the spoon by himself yet but is happy to guide my hand or to opening his mouth and charge at the spoon. I do wonder if I'm starving him doing BLW seeing the way he goes for the spoon, it's like he hasn't been feed in days.

DH and Chulita DS wont BF to sleep anymore, it's really quite irritating, he just tries to roll around and poke me.

I think I'll probably BF as long as he wants, and that's so not what I expected to happen. I hated BFing when I started but felt too guilty to stop, I actually broke down in tears in boots buying the first can of formula, they must have thought I was mental. Now it's ok, and so much easier than bottle feeding.

I want to go and see that Tangled film because I'm a little bit sad, sometimes I wish DS wa a girl Grin, oh well, there's always next time.

dylthan ignore them, frickers - just cos you're not weaning your 'tiny newborn' on french fries and nuggets (but yes, it serves you right for eating at McD's Grin )

The only reason I want to stop at a year is that we're hoping to ttc around then and I want to stop before getting pg. (well, I'm still working on DH on the ttc part but he'll come round Wink )

CakeandRoses · 26/01/2011 20:15

just cooking my dinner (dh out) so will post more later but just wanted to say "fucking grrrrrr!!' re the twats in mcdonalds, dylthan.

I've never had a bad reaction like that - do you really think it was because it was mcdonalds?

I'd have so stuck up for you if i was there but i wouldn't be seen dead in mcdonalds Grin

i had a bit of a Blush moment earlier when i fed aurelia, unlatched her and looked down and realised i;d left my shirt wide open and masses of bra and boob on display - right opposite three young men. wonderful

CakeandRoses · 26/01/2011 20:23

oh and v excited - dh and i are going out together sat night! F staying overnight with my father and now our cleaner has just agreed to babysit Aurelia Smile

it's only for a couple of hours as she's on street pastor duty (amazing woman, our cleaner. I'd adopt her as a second mother if i could Grin) but will be time enough to finally try the new Italian in town.
