Feel for you Jodey, and can empathise. Arlo woke at 2am and 5am for feed, then up and chatting at 7.30. My dream feeds just aren't helping! Might carry on till the end of this week then maybe revert back to not doing them if he's still waking twice in the night.

V.annoyed as my iPhone fell out of my pocket while I was putting washing in the machine and the screen has cracked :(. The good news though, my step sister had a little girl at the weekend - Erica.

Arlo 16 weeks today

bananastew · 24/01/2011 08:45

MammyG that sounds rubbish! (Whats a CBT guy?!) Have you always been miss dependable or is it someone you've grown into & has it got worse since your dad died?? At least you've got a good dh. I've wanted to ride off before & leave him behind Grin

Newmum I feel like that too. I had a bad week last week. I love my boys more than anything but just sometimes it'd be nice to go back to my old life where I could do what I wanted when I wanted! & sleep when I wanted!!!!!

I'm desperatley trying to think of fun activities to do in the house. This winters seems to have been so long! I think thats why the tele's on so much at the minute! Any suggestions??

JodeyLea · 24/01/2011 09:41

Aaaah, congrats Dixie, that's lovely news.

banana who is the activity for? U? Or your lo's?

Debs75 · 24/01/2011 10:14

MammyG It's awful when you feel you can't be the one to offload. I had a dreadful week before christmas where I just didn't want christmas, I had no joy for it, was sick of people asking what I would like. I had PND with ds and was wondering if I was on the same road? Felt better christmas eve when mum came and then it was such a rush getting things done I didn't have time to mope.
I think it is just the relentless grind of day to day and in my case never getting a full nights sleep. That won't happen till dd2 is in her own room so probably in about 5 years when dd1 moves out.
Having a good dh definitely helps. Have a hug and a Biscuit

Is anyone not weaning yet? I am trying to wait until Lucy is 6 months so only another 3 weeks. She is waking more in the night so I think she is getting ready. I want to do BLW tho and you have to wait until 6 months so they can sit up without support and feed themselves. I think I will have to take it day by day and if she needs it a bit earlier then so be it.

bananastew · 24/01/2011 11:15

Debs I'm trying to wait too but I have to say its getting hard. I've got 5 weeks to wait. He's slowly showing some signs that he's starting to get ready. His aim & grabs getting more accurate & He only needs a little bit of support when sitting. I'm wanting to try BLW too. My friend started BLW at 24 weeks and it was fine. are you going on dates or weeks??

Jodey the activities are for me & Toby to do together. he's 2.5yrs. We've made cardboard figures of the family this morning!!!

JessemyParkson · 24/01/2011 11:16

Morning all,

Hope everyone is feeling well and ready for a new week!

DH is back to work after a week off with tonsilitis and ear infections. Only problem is, now Mary and I have horrible colds. :( Poor little lady, she sounds like a little piggy, all snorty and snuffly! She's a bit all over the place with her sleep too. She slept through on Saturday night, but woke up last night full of beans Hmm

What's good to help a runny nose?? I've tried Olbas on a tissue for Mary but she keeps wanting to munch on it... not a good idea!

I've just put her down for a nap, but I'm not holding my breath for her to sleep long.

mammyG that's hard. I have to say, I agree with banana though, I've wanted to leg it without DH! That was after DS though - I had terrible PND and it went undiagnosed for years. I have to confess, I was terrified it'd happen again after Mary, but I feel totally different.

beaditAli · 24/01/2011 13:25

Hi all! Happy, happy Monday!
Just a warning that there will be an imposter joining us soon. Technically she is an October Mum and baby Daisy but i'm sure there's room for one more if we keep her D.O.B a secret......Confused What you reckon? She is my scrummy lil goddaughter so really I'm not leaving room for a "NO" Grin!!!!!
Mummy Sarah needs advice like the rest of us and I keep ranting on about my lovely virtual friends on this thread so she will be popping in to say "Hi" soon Grin Grin Grin
Notes to get a picture:
Daisy is a teeny petite lil lovely girl with long blonde hair and eye lashes as long as Jack's legs! She smiles ONLY at Jack so Harlyn Oliver Oliver Luke Arlo Arlo Jacob Flynn and anyone I've forgotten........ HAND OFF!!!!!!!!!

JodeyLea · 24/01/2011 13:41

LOL Beadit Always room for more on here.

Halryn's catnaps are really starting to get me down! He is so tired but wont sleep!! Gona go out in the buggy after my jacket spud! Fingers crossed. I'm wondering if it's the reflux that disturbes his sleep as when he's awake he is always puking!! I might book an appointment with the Gp and see if we can get a referal to a Pediatrician. I'm paranoid that all this puking will damage his oesophagus.

newmum001 · 24/01/2011 13:51

Jessemy we got the Calpol nasal spray for Grace when she had a cold last week. It made her far less stuffy and she found it really funny being sprayed up the nose the little weirdo. Although she also laughs her head off when she sneezes as well Grin

Jodey, not sure if i've mentioned it before but Grace was put on Ranitidine for her reflux as it was getting really bad, she has that three times a day and Infant Gaviscon twice a day and she's been fine ever since. Taking Grace out in the pram for sleep has been a life saver for me to get her to sleep although people in the streets surrounding me must think i'm mad as i'm out in all weathers just pacing about, i find bumpy surfaces get her to sleep quicker as well. It's not so good for getting rest yourself but at least when Grace gets decent sleep she's far easier to look after.

Beadit - the more the merrier, i personally would be lost without everyone here!!

Debs75 · 24/01/2011 13:55

Banana I'm going by dates, I keep forgetting how old she is in weeks. She can sit in a bumbo for the time it takes us to eat tea and it has a tray so she should be ok to try some food I just want to leave it a while.

Do you mind you and DS getting messy? At that age a fun thing is gloop, water and cornflour, it goes hard until you touch it then it goes runny. Waterplay, painting or how about making buns and icing them or rice crispie buns.

beaditAli · 24/01/2011 14:04

*Hi all, this is Daisy's Mum (Bearbrains) on Beadit's log-in. Would be lovely to chat to people who know what they're doing tho i'm afraid we are date imposters - Daisy was due on 10/10 but didn't turn up til 25/10.

bearbrains · 24/01/2011 14:08

Marking my post on here as a newby! xx

patito · 24/01/2011 15:00

HI

Welcome bearbrains Smile.

banana whats the cardboard figure thing, sounds great. I stuggle to do things with DS when Maias awake as she doean´t like to be put down too much. Are you near a library, mine has become my saving grace this winter, they have floor puzzles/colours etc not much we dont have at home but gets us out the house for an hour or so in the afternoon.

Im not weaning yet, tbh not even thinking about it, feels too early, but then Maia is on the small side and she´s doing fine with her milk so far.

mammyG big MN hug, sorry your feeling that way at the moment. Am glad you´ve got a good DH and as has been said vent away on here when you need to off load. Smile

jessemy I use saline water drops, lay Maia down with head on one side squirt up water and then pop her back up again to wipe away water/snot, then repeat other side. It also helps to clear any mucus stuck down between nose/throat. maia doesn´t like it but it does help loads and its only water Smile

Ok so why can DP not dress the DCs, I mean he does do it (infact he´s great with them both in terms of doing his share), its just that it looks like a blind man has fished some things out of a bin bag and dressed them. He can dress himself OK, never seen him walk out to work wearing tarten check trousers with a stripy top on (which he has out on DS before Hmm). The best thing is the poor sod thinks he dressed them beautifully and trots them off to the park so proudly. Ive taken to laying the next days clothes out, but he´s clicked on and picks out other things, I also lied once saying Maia had leaked and had had to change her clothes and all. Blush.

Im far from fashion concious, this is a question of eye dazzling colour/pattern clashes.

patito · 24/01/2011 15:06

Just lost my post, had copied it as its done it to me before but cant be bothered to go over it again for sp and typos.

JodeyLea · 24/01/2011 15:29

Welcome bearbrains.

newmum I've just booked Harlyn an appointment with the GP to hopefully get some of that wonderful medicine you talked about.
So, After his 1pm feed he looked very tired, so i put him in his buggy whilst I got my trainers on at 1:30 and when i came back he had fallen asleep and is still asleep now Shock!!!! I'm soooooo impressed. Though I have to say, I do keep checking he is still breathing as this is totally not like him to sleep this long! LOL!

Please please please long may this continue! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 24/01/2011 17:17

Welcome bearbrains, congratulations on you lo. Luke would have been Daisy had he been a girl!

So sorry you feel like that mammyG, I feel the same at times. Mine is entirely financial though, I have to have a certain number of children as a childminder to pay the bills which means I have 8 children on a part-time basis. I then have to juggle lots around and have so many people dependant on me. I would so love to have some time with my boys and not have to try and get everything done at the weekend. As I know I have no choice mostly I'm fine but there are times when I think I just can't do it anymore (although what I think I will do instead!?!) and get very emotional. LOL at those who wanted to run from their dh's!

My friend has the same problem with her dh patito!

I think weaning is another nail in the coffin of babyhood Debs75 so I can totally understand you waiting. I think BLW doesn't have a specific deadline so you should be fine if you want to start by the sound of it. Luke is still hating his food, I have until Thursday and then the EAT study people have said he should have a break. Am thinking of getting one of those nets that you can put food in as he loves chewing on things and I can then put carrot, cucumber etc in it so he can chomp, get a bit more used to the flavours and not risk choking on the bits.

Off to my mum's for dinner when my after schoolers have gone home so a bit of a break for me tonight, although I do have to listen to some pearls of wisdom. The latest one is that he won't sleep while she's holding him because I have him in that thing. Translated because I carry him in a sling for the school run (45min-1hr per day) she can't rock him to sleep Confused

Whoops that ended up being long, sorry

Chelle1986 · 24/01/2011 17:47

Just a quick one ladies - can we please make a list (and keep copy and pasting as it grows!) of good weaning foods for purees? I can only think of so many and we have just had our first lot of carrot here and he was waiting with his mouth open for the next spoonful before I had even loaded the spoon!!

I know you can get books and stuff but am lazy interested to see what others are getting on with.

So to start:

Carrot
Sweet Potato
Potato

Welcome bearbrains - and friend of my little beadly is welcome here!

Olly 17+1

Will try and catch up properly later.xx

Carrot
Sweet Potato
Potato
Butternut squash
courgette

beaditAli · 24/01/2011 18:08

Apple
Pear

Parsnip are others we'll be trying soon. From listening to other mums...... avocado is supposed to be a favourite Grin

Thanks for the welcome messages ladies, so nice to know there are some 'experts' out there :)Daisy is just finding her 'singing voice' at the mo ... cue lots of squealies, she's really snotty at the mo and is being fairly sicky too ...hope it goes soon. Can anyone direct a total newbie to where I can find out what all your abbreviations stand for ? x

beaditAli · 24/01/2011 19:39

Oh bear..... you could just knock on my door and ask what DH is anytime! Grin
That would be Jim to you. Your Dear Husband! Dasiy is your DD1 Dear Daughter no.1 and you don't have a DS but you can pretend it's Jack if you want and take him off my hands Blush Blush Wink
LO is Little Ones!
See you tomorrow on the swings for a chat about abbreviations??? xx

bearbrains · 24/01/2011 20:10

Aha ... thanks beadit - I now feel v v old! Will def meet up on swings 2mw for chats xxx

beaditAli · 24/01/2011 20:16

YOU ARE REEEEEEEEALLY OLD! Wink

bananastew · 24/01/2011 20:26

Welcome bearbrains!!! I've got one of the Olivers who is clearly a bit of competition for Jack! Much cuter!!!

Cinnamon surely the fact that Luke hasn't really taken too solids is as much evidence against early weaning as if he had taken to it would be for! Does that make sense!

Debs Don't mind mess at all. Bring on the gloop! Patito The cardboard figures were nothing exciting, just cardboard people that we decorated as mummy, daddy, toby & olly!

I'm also going by dates. Olly can sit in the bumbo really well too. I'm going to try him in the high chair this week I think & give him some stuff on the tray to pick up & chew. (Not food yet) Just to see what he does. Are you going for 100% BLW or a bit of both?

Beadit Sorry you've had a crap day! I prescribe a hot bath, bottle glass of wine & chocolate!

Had a bit of a scary day here. Ollys got tobys cold & its all in his upper airway. He sounds so raspy & wheezy & has been very unsettled. At one point he was really struggling to breath! Don't like seeing them poorly!

Olly 20 weeks, 6 days & 20 hours Grin

bananastew · 24/01/2011 20:27

Sorry Bearbrains but every time I read your name I read it as Beerbrains! Makes me chuckle! Oooh, new smileys!!! [bgrin]
