oh god tsc you really didn't need a toddler round today. when is day 5?

MelissaM · 13/01/2011 12:21

Hi all. Night didn't work out too badly in the end. Just the one proper waking, although was up about an hour. He did stir and cry out a few more times, waking me, but he didn't wake until 6.50 when prodded by his big sister. They are both in bed by 7 ish but still don't seem to have any evening once cleared up after tea, but washing on, tidied toys etc!

Just been to Optician for dd. Whilst only 3 1/2 dh worn glasses since 3 so She's been getting eyes checked since 1. All ok so pros dh has don't seem to have passed on to her thankfully. Optician also looked at ds's eyes while he was in a good mood and told me what to watch for but his are looking good at moment too. Hope both take after me with their eyes.
Saw some lovely shoes for ds christening, but nearly 300 in sale! If only I had that kinda money!

Better make some lunch before dd start to eat ds she's so hungry!

Have a good day all x

CakeandRoses · 13/01/2011 12:25

oh god tsc - am i allowed to say your dp is acting like a total knucklehead at the mo?

can you get a friend over to help you today?

mlic ah, it's lovely hand-painted crockery which I think is actually impregnated with addictive substances judging by how much tea i drink/how much of the stuff i have. the plastic version is obv just for ponces a waste of time.

MelissaM · 13/01/2011 13:37

I hadn't heard of Emma whatsername either! Do keep looking at the cath kidston stuff though in the shop in town. V cute but not sure worth the money and obviously the things I want aren't in the sale.

Tsc sorry ur having such a rough time. Hope F is feeling a little better.Shock at dh

wonderstuff · 13/01/2011 14:35

Hi all - we had an awful night and dh has decided that if dd wakes at 5.45 tonight (as she did last night) I need to go to her - I do all the night wakings with ds every night, the deal is he has to get up early if dd wakes early - I think its fair, especially since he mustered the energy to go see his mates one evening this week, as he does most weeks, while I slopped off to bed at 8! We will have words tonight - he will come round to my way of thinking.

WRT formula and diabeties risk needles the study compared formula against breast and came to the conclusion that the formula babies were at some increased risk of diabeties, it didn't compare formula to cows milk! Formula is cows milk that has been modified to make it easy for a baby to digest and has extra stuff added to make it more nutious. It is likely that actually it is the breast milk that protects against diabeties rather than formula causing diabeties, I believe the only risk of formula is the risk of gastrointeritus because it isn't sterile, hence sterilising bottles and making up milk fresh with hot water. Breast milk gives protection to babies that formula doesn't.

I've got one of these for L's Bear but haven't got anything to replace our lovely multicoloured ceramicware yet. I need to find something cos I've only got one plate/bowl/mug in each colour so when if one gets broken it'll throw everything off. Mum used to have melamine stuff but I want to find something child-friendly but bright coloured.

wonderstuff hope you get a better night tonight and that your dh gets up with your dd. Fwiw dh rarely gets up with L but that's more because when he does L just shouts for me.

wonderstuff · 13/01/2011 16:41

WRT sterilising - I'm doing stuff that food is being stored in - going to sterilise the trays I'm freezing purees in. I know they don't sterilise in the states, I had assumed that that was because most people had dishwashers over there and the dishwasher sterilises doesn't it? Not that I've got one! When giving formula I'm using the premade cartons rather than powder and not sterilising, but using tippee cup rather than bottles. I'm not sure I'd be so lax about it if I wasn't breastfeeding for the most part.

V. pretty Chilita we've got a real mis-match - might invest in something a bit prettier.

Just had a mate round for coffee - amazing how much more human I feel after some adult company. Must get out more.

Me too mlic!!cannot wait til 8:30!

WhatSheSaid · 13/01/2011 17:46

I was actually thinking of selling my steriliser as it's been in the cupboard unused for about the last month.

Re babies turning 6 months old, my friend said to me the other day "She's 6 months old! Where did that time go? It's gone so quickly". To which I replied "No it HASN'T gone quickly, I have been AWAKE for most of that 6 months!". It really has felt like a long time! But all good now we're all getting some decent sleep - enjoying it all much more.

G trying desperatley to get her back end up in the air, think she wants to crawl, she tries to wriggle around the floor to get stuff and is all frustrated when she can't.

I'm in summer and it's still been shit Grin

No not really. Not that shit. Well not so much now. Was a couple of months ago.

WinterChillita · 13/01/2011 20:00

wrt sterilising I've always gone with only sterilising bottles after 6mths up to a year. S had some toast today and yelled at me when I picked up the pieces he'd dropped Hmm a real daddy's boy!
tsc I don't know how you put up with your dp heading off out all the time when you obviously need a hand. I've been getting frustrated with DH and he's properly ill. He changed a nappy while sitting down this morning and had to have a lie down afterwards...
mlic as bad as these last 6 months have been for me, I don't reckon they were as bad as the first 6 months of L's life - tbh S would've had to have been twice as bad to get close to that! Hope the next 6 months are amazing for you with lots of happy toast-eating W days.
needle I bfed L til 11 months and then like a totally paranoid freak I formula'd her for a month cos I'd been told no dairy as a drink before one...fruit loop that I am, as if 4 weeks would've made any difference. But yea, as has already been said, I'm sure its the bf that makes the difference, not the type of bf replacement iywsim.
Off to bed now (even though I have to wake up at half 9 to get the bread out of the machine cos I forgot to set the timer...) good night all!

Hey ladies I?m back.

Tsc hope frankles is on the mend and you might actually get some well earned rest.

Stac I?m with you on the struggling to lose weight as I have pcos too. I am just starting to after doing dance or pilates dvd 4 times a week and walking everywhere. Don?t think I?ll ever have a flat tummy tho

Dreya is still being a dream baby and sleeping from 6.30pm through to 7.30am. bless her, I?m so pleased she sleeps as I don?t know how I?d cope otherwise.
I started weaning her on boxing day and she loves all her veggies so far but gonna try a bit of blw too. I?m thinking cooked carrot sticks and toast to start with.

I?ve been feeling a bit up and down recently, probably due to hormones and having AF every 2 weeks. I?m obviously paying for the years I went with almost no periods at all! Also a few so called ?friends? of mine have been well and truly crossed off my xmas card list (literally!) They seem to think that as they work full time jobs that I should keep Dreya awake later so they can see her and hint that I?m too strict by putting her to bed at 6.30pm! I refuse to apologise to anyone that I have Dreya in a strict routine as it seems to work for us. tbh I don?t know how sane I would be if her sleeping/eating were all over the place especially as a single parent I find that knowing when she?s gonna eat and sleep help a lot. Some people are so selfish and don?t see that I?m just trying to do the best I can for my baby girl.

Anywho sorry for self indulgent post x
