The only thing I'll say about the tattoo if she has one is to make sure that the person who does it is good, really good!

I had 2 when I was at college, one is a small butterfly on my stomach. Don't mind it but it was done by a cr*p tattoo artist and is lop sided Hmm it has also now been streched beyond recognition by two pregnancies and has faded quite a bit so just looks like a fuzzy blob. I have considered getting it redone or something over the top of it just cause it's hardly recognisable anymore..

The second one was just on a whim and is a squiggly line pattern/swirl thing. Non offensive but I kinda regret that one because it doesn't mean anything to me, I just got it cause I wanted a tattoo and couldn't think of anything so just chose a picture. It was also done by a cr*p tattoo artist in the same place, actually they got the trainee to do itHmm.

I just didn't realise at the time there was so much variety in the quality on tattoos, I just thought a tattooo was a tattoo.. The lines on mine are thick and clumsy and not accurate and have in places blurred together. Doesn't look good.

Siamese - Sorry Monty has gone. It sounds like it's in the best possible way, he's close so you'll see him again and he's with a lovely coupleSmile

BusyMissIzzy · 11/02/2011 21:15

Pixie you've made Discussions of the Day again. Thankfully the MN bumper sticker idea was more popular than the MN vajazzling Grin

PacificDogwood · 13/02/2011 21:29

Aaaaaargh, just lost a long post due to iPad and/or network being temperamental.

So, hello from the rather stunning albeit cold and windy Isle of Skye :).

Melk, plain penicillin may not be enough for a tooth abscess, also if you do start what you have left get additional supply so you can complete a course. AND GO SEE A DENTIST, WOMAN!!!
Lovely to see you back though and sorry RL has been tough.

I'll be back at a proper computer on Tuesday

scooby26 · 13/02/2011 23:28

Quickie- are toddlers supposed to be able to get socket protectors OUT of the sockets????

Arcadie · 14/02/2011 08:44

no - but IMO socket protectors do more harm than good. They deactivate the in built "no current flowing mechanism" by inserting a pin into the top hole. Better to just leave them exposed - kids V (VVV) unlikely to be able to push something in themselves that would deactivate it.

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 14/02/2011 08:51

Well Dylan managed to get them out a few times but soon lost interest. Some are easier to remove than others.. Ours are just flat, no little handle on the outside so quite difficult to remove.

Happy Valentines Day everyone

Flisspaps · 14/02/2011 09:00

Scooby Second Arcadie's comment about socket protectors. Had a 'discussion' with an Ofsted inspector about them a few weeks ago (she wanting to know where mine were!) and she was surprised to find I thought them dangerous.

There's more info about it here but effectively they should already have a safety shutter built in, and the socket cover actually opens the safety shutters.

Flisspaps · 14/02/2011 09:02

Ooh yes, Happy Valentines Day all Grin

Feel a bit bad, DH gave me a card with lovely things written inside it by him. Mine to him just said 'Happy Valentines Day, lots of love FP'

His face was like this :( and then quickly :)

Bad Wife.

hello all!
Well you can't get more romantic than.....going back to work!! Huzzah... it was surprisingly a lot of fun, thanks mostly to it being an easy uneventful shift, but still...
We are being ultra-classy and going for the nearest supermarket deal we can - so since I was at work, it's Waitrose. Marvellous. Technically the deal is for two courses...but i was hungry so some camembert fell in the basket yum...Smile

never thought about socket protectors but now i do...hmm...interesting.... I'm not one for safety as you know, I quite like watching them bounce learn as they go. Please don't report me, I do keep an eye on them....

pd jealous of skye....

and sarah are you ok? Sounds like you've had a rough day, dogwise....Sad

Oooh prosecco is open....better dash....flisspaps i read your post before i scrawled wrote mine so I have been semi-romantic....Grin - thanks for the warning! And you aren't a Bad Wife. Not at ALL

Arcadie · 14/02/2011 19:00

Runs in waving madly and apologises for being rubbish. As an apology please find, in the style of Pixie, a 'year ago today' update:

BMI was getting over the world's slowest bathroom renovation

TLC was hoping her 'runny tummy' was a sign of impending labour and Afribaby was over the moon at the thought of starting mat leave in 4 days.

annamamas enterprising DH was considering marketing a DIY unltrasound scanner to check your own baby's position.

IWCAS resolutely wished everyone a happy chinese new year, while Flip "officially joined the crampy/damp ladies brigade" as she announced her bloody show.

Pixie muses on the twins hair colour while Scooby scoffs eats a couple of chocolate buttons for breakfast.

Pacific reminds self to drink stash of raspberry leaf tea 'before it is too late'

Meanwhile the whole thread was reels from Evitas' announcement on the 13th of V's birth a week before.

slimmingsarahandco · 14/02/2011 21:39

squiggly- love the recap from a year ago today! WD and welcome back !

Melk- glad back at work was ok today,

Thanks for asking after me, am ok, just stessing about money we have spent just short of £400 at the vets in 2 weeks and panicking about poor Elliott not yet having anything for his birthday which is saturday- I DO NOT DO LAST MINUTE- i am always so organsied- no pennies til friday although my dear mom has offered rtoi sort me some for tomorrow(yay)

DOG update- the vets think he has cushings disease- to get to this poss diagnosis he has been tested for diabets, thyroid trouble, and many other things, its lookin very likly he does have cushings, ( a tumor in either the adrenal or the pituatry gland) it can be controlled my medication for life( but will need monthly blood test(£80( and the meds £60 min), but will cause lots of probs- his baldder will failamongst other things, so it looks like we will be putting him to sleep in the very near future:( - he is 10 in july and has been a wonderful pet and very much part of the family, we feel he has been too god to keep putting him thru tests and on life time meds and would rather he be happy - tough decision and of the diagnosis is right i am gonna cry like a baby- sad sad sad-!

on a cheerier note i got flowers and forerro rocher! yay to DH! he has however left me at home whist he palys his usual monday night snookerHmm

anyhow, off to the land of nod- too fed up even for obem- its on V+ will watch tomorrow

night ladies,

scooby26 · 14/02/2011 22:28

Sarah- thinking of you. My parents in laws dog has also just been diagnosed with cushings. Will your pet insurance not cover the monthly cost? They have also been told approx 60 quid p mth.

Thanks for the thoughts on plug protectors- they are the flat kind but buggalugs can get them out so seemingly pointless bothering!!

Got my part time/flexible appeal on Wednesday.... Not looking forward to it x

slimmingsarahandco · 15/02/2011 11:26

Scooby the insurers will but we dont want to put him thru medication and blood tests, we will pay more as he is a large labrador! i just dont want to keep him on meds til he looses his bladder control and other faculties- iykwim! so hard- poor boy!

scooby26 · 15/02/2011 14:02

Sarah, completely understand. PIL haven't been given quite such a bleak future. Would a second opinion be useful?

SiameseCatWoman · 15/02/2011 20:12

Hey there ladies. Does anyone else find that the night after a bad night that they can't sleep despite only having say 4 hours sleep the night before? I'm physically shattered but I feel wide awake.

pixie I went to see Black Swan yesterday (DD at nursery, DH day off) and thought of you. Not because you are crackers mind, but because of the ballet ;) it was a good film (still think kings speech better) and really showed the pressure well, but I'm massively ignorant about ballet. She did also spend some time sewing ribbons on her shoes :)

Evitas how is it going without your mum around? How is your aunt?

pacific so Envy of your Skye trip. Hopefully we'll get to explore some more Scottish islands this year.

Scooby good luck tomorrow. How is DS's eye? When DD had conjunctivitis, wiping her eye from inside to out with cool boiled water also helped. I'm not convinced I aimed the drops in her eye at any point!!

Melk ooo work.. It's creeping up on me too, just a few more childfree Mondays left.. Did you get to a dentist? While it's still free? :) I have to go and get root canal before 7th march or it's £49 odd :(

Sariska have nice time back at work. You have reminded me to check my clothes still fit!

Sarah oh that really sucks about your dog :( I hope you sort something out. Have you found a new job yet?

DSis doing well with baby, who finally has name - Astrid. She's bf, and I've had to post her my Silverettes. Knew they would be useful again!

Happy birthday to those coming up - Valium dd2? squiggly DD? scooby ds? Sorry, on iPhone so can't really scroll back very well!

PacificDogwood · 15/02/2011 22:15

In car all day today, several small breaks not enough, boys took forever to get into bed, DH off to work @ 7am tomorrow = getting them ready and out of the house on my own - good night, ladies, 'see' you tomorrow...

hecklephone · 16/02/2011 13:04

Hello ladies, sorry to hear of various pet-related worries/illnesses/general busyness.

Not a very romantic valentine here either - in a nutshell, we might be about to put our house on the Market so spent the whole weekend, including Monday (dh was off work) cleaning and tidying our house. We eventually collapsed onto the sofa on Monday at 8pm with a tesco finest meal deal. We were knackered, but it was yum! So we're still in the throes of all that mortgage/money/property nonsense. I'll try and bore you with the details on another occasion. Smile

I'm also thinking worky things, have a meeting with someone on Friday which might offer me some freelance options...fingers crossed.

Lastly - just caught up with OBEM this morning and loved the young lassie who wanted to get through labour "with paracetamol". This made me Grin
