Will this do everyone?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

sympathies re stroppy pre-schoolers - I remember all that from DD's younger days. At least I am lucky that DS1 is not stroppy at all, very passive in fact [every cloud...]

hitting your tummy BT Sad - how horrid for you. Do you think it's anything to do with the baby or just a coincidence?

Grin at clara having her own tantrum

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/04/2011 16:39

Skidd - no I think that is just where he could reach, he didn't mean anything by it. He had a good day at nursery after he calmed down, and he has been his usual sweet self since then :)

buzzybee · 12/04/2011 10:22

I found that Terrible 3s thread. Goodness some of the posts did make me laugh. How can such little people cause so much havoc? I feel remarkably comforted that DD2, while very strong willed, has a very sunny temper and makes me giggle so much I can't be mad at her. I looked at her today and thought how much she has grown up the last few months - I cut her fringe at the weekend and it has made her look quite a bit older!

Clairey, glad to hear you had such a nice birthday - you deserve it!

BT, how is the tiredness holding up? You must be almost on the final run home by now :)

skidd · 13/04/2011 10:08

.

buzzybee · 13/04/2011 10:36

That's a very succinct post Skidd! Grin

skidd · 13/04/2011 21:24

oops - not sure what happened there - don't even remember posting Confused

how is everyone anyway??

WAKE UP

Anyone else sick of the holidays yet? I've worked out it's half-time tomorrrow - but that's not counting the extra 4 days holiday three days after they go back to school....At least we had all that beautiful weather for a few days.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 14/04/2011 14:44

Not yet Clara but we've been pretty busy so far, today is our first day at home and a friend came over this morning so my two haven't started killing each other yet!

Where's the nice weather gone though?? I was enjoying the sunshine!

Beckle how is ds1 doing with the revision?

Skid sorry the outcome of ds1's appointment wasn't as you hoped Sad but as everyone has said he is still him and it didn't sound too bad if he is borderline..it's hard because you want the diagnosis so you canhelpthem but at the same time you don't want to label them.

Had a lovely weekend for the final round of birthday celebrations, went and got my eyebrows done and did a bit of shopping then met up with my uni friends. Friend and her dh announced they are expecting dc1 Grin. Went out for lovely meal together with some local friends then they went home and uni friends and I (apart from pregnant one and dh) went to a club. God my feet were sore by the end of the night Grin I was quite popular with the boys men though sadly didn't fancy any of them. Still it gave me hope!

BeckleinDisguise · 14/04/2011 16:37

Hiya, not sick of the holidays yet! Although we haven't done anything apart from having all my friend's children over yesterday (looking after 6 children was actually a bit easier than looking after 3 - just noisier!), the boys have been playing out a lot and its been nice. Its grey out today though and a bit cold so they are inside and sniping at each other - grrr.

Well 1.5 hours have passed since I started this post...! All is calm now, DD is having a Tea Party (which I am required to join), DS2 is starting a jigsaw (which I will be helping with) and DS1 is lurking upstairs with his lego.

Clara & BT, DD is definitely having more tantrums at 3 than she did at 2! Most of the time she is lovely but can have super huge tantrums when she feels like it! Generally it is because she doesn't want to get dressed or showered ("no Mummy, no Mummy, pleeeease Mummy, stop it, stop it, aaaaaahhhhhh") - I dread to think what people passing the house think when they hear her! She's very quickly all sweetness again afterwards though!

I have found that for the last few weeks she hasn't liked me going to work either, she doesn't mind Tuesdays too much but really gets upset about Wednesdays (more "Pleeeease Mummy, no, don't go" screaming) Sad My Team Leader at work suggested I put a lipstick kiss on a bit of paper for her for while I was at work and (touch wood) it worked last night! She started to get upset but calmed down once she had the kiss! I put it in a little card and told her everytime she opened it she would get a kiss from me. She made me one with a little drawn kiss in it to take to work for when I miss her too Smile. Hope it works next week too...

Skid WRT to DS1's extra schoolwork, it is not to help him achieve some amazing level, it is to get him up to average! He is well ahead for maths and science but he is slightly behind with his written English (reading and comprehension are fine). That's what makes me feel he should have gone to the extra lessons! He is doing well with his revision though and only kicked up a fuss on Monday. BBC bitesize has loads of useful and interesting quizes for key stage 2 so he has been doing those and I'm randomly testing him on spellings. Because he's enjoying it he's also done more than the half an hour I specified each day too Grin

BeckleinDisguise · 14/04/2011 16:39

Maybe more than 1.5 hours since start of post then... Hi Clairey! You hadn't posted when I started - sounds like you had a fab weekend!

buzzybee · 15/04/2011 08:28

That bad huh BT!

One of the teachers at our childcare centre just announced she's PG. Well that explains a bit then!! A bit of a surprise as she's the youngest teacher and I can't say I'm sure how long she's been with her BF. Making the other teachers clucky too - especially the 3 who have got married within the last year...

School hols just started today here. So easter is the middle weekend (they get 2 weeks here in April). I'm taking the Thur before easter off work so will have super long weekend. Next few days are supposed to be cold here too but then improve again in the middle of next week.

DD2 is doing stupendously well at the T training. Quite frankly I'm astonished. So I now believe those people who recommend waiting...we just moved into undies one day and have never looked back. Now averaging about 1 accident every 2 days. Anyone for 3 spare packs of pull-ups Grin

Clairey, see you just need to go out a few more times and you'll definitely find someone you like! Sounds like you had loads of fun. Good on you. I tend to hide away when it comes to birthdays - or go overseas!

Am going away for romantic weekend with new(ish) man weekend after Easter. There are definitely some expectations attached...have a feeling it may be a bit make or break.

strandednomore · 15/04/2011 09:13

oooh Buzzy - do you want it to be make or do you want it to be break? I.e. are you hoping it will go really well because you like him or are you not sure and need the relationship to be proved (does that make any sense? I don't think so!).

I have a whole lot of exciting activities lined up for today to try and make it a better day than yesterday (we didn't actually go out all day although we did have a friend and her dd come over in the afternoon). So off to get some photos printed, buy some cress seeds, visit the library, go out for lunch, trip to Hobbycraft to buy crafty stuff, home to plant cress and do crafts.....hoping I will still be reasonably sane by the end of the day!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 15/04/2011 13:06

Buzzy - yep I am just sooooooo tired! Hope you have a great weekend with the

DS went for his pre op assessment, he has to have no food after midnight and nil by mouth after 7am. We have to take to the surgical day unit at 8am.
DH will have to go with him when he has the GA as apparently there is some risk to pregnant women! They said he'll be under about 20mins, they give him a drink and something light to eat after and as long as he keeps it down they'll probably discharge him mid morning.

skidd · 18/04/2011 10:54

So is the op tomorrow BT? Good luck, of course it will be fine but I'm sure you'll be glad when it's over

buzzy - how was your weekend? Agree with clara sounds as if you need some reassurance/evidence that the relationship is ok?

clara - I am quite sick of the holidays and I am at work every morning! So would definitely be at the end of my tether in your shoes! I'm finding DD very hard work atm - everything seems to be about lording it over DS1 and showing me how much better she is at everything - think she is craving more attention but when she behaves as she does it is hard to want to spend 1-1 time with her

beckle - that is so sweet - giving DD a lipstick kiss! It must be hard leaving her when she is crying for you not to go Sad - I am quite outwardly hardened to all that now having had three very clingy DC - DS1 just gets plonked on the floor and he does cheer up very soon (so I'm told) - but it still (secretly) breaks my heart

clairey - glad you've had such enjoyabe and extended birthday celebrations Smile

Had a lovely weekend - cycled 10 miles to a little farm - was so impressed with DD who cycled all the way there and back, and then had a picnic yesterday with friends and a whole load of horses appeared from nowhere and galloped past us while the children were all paddling in the stream - it was like some kind of wierd (but lovely) fantasy book

strandednomore · 18/04/2011 14:05

Skid your DD cycled 10 miles Shock? I am in awe - even I couldn't manage that and I am pretty sure dd1 couldn't! What did you do with the ds's? This is why we don't do much cycling (apart from the small fact that I don't have a bike), she has a bike with stablisers, a scooter and a balance bike but none of them can really keep up with a proper bike.

BT - How is your ds? How has the op gone? By the way, are you planning a home birth then (as it says on FB)? If so I am very Envy - it would have been my fantasy birth! I have just been reading about it in one of the books I am reading for my studies called Birthing from Within, it's a little hippy/American for me but there are some really good ideas in it and she is very pro homebirth.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/04/2011 15:26

Yes I am plannign a home birth Smile

DS's Op is tomorrow morning

skidd · 18/04/2011 17:31

clara - I know I am also Shock at my DD's cycling ability. She has been able to cycle without stabilisers for about 6 months and has cycled about 4 miles before but I didn;t think she's make 10 (I kept telling my DH w should turn back but he insisted and was right!). I think the constant attention/praise is a HUGE motivation...

Also Envy of your homebirth BT. There was an article about a homebirth in the Guardian magazine this Sat - thought it was quite good - relatively well balanced and an amazing photo of the head coming out

Good luck to your DS for tomorrow

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/04/2011 22:47

Think it might be off, DS woke early and I think he has a temp. Will see how he does overnight.

BeckleinaBunnySuit · 19/04/2011 14:14

Good luck to DS today BT x

Skidd, I am impressed with your DD's cycling, 10 miles each way? I couldn't do that! The horses in the river sound fab though!

Children driving me a little potty today - a round of doctors appointments this morning (pill check for me and general MOT for the boys) has left them all argumentative and hyperactive

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/04/2011 16:03

Got to the hospital just before 8am, he didn't get to theatre until 1:15pm, and he hadn't eaten since 4pm the night before :( He was so tired when he got home he didn't want anything and had an early night!
He was okay for the first hour but then kept complaining he was hungry and tired Sad got really annoyed with people walking around with food and drink, worst was when some women sat near where he was sat wailing about how hungry he was and started emptying out a bag of food to eat AngryAngryAngry
Still he recovered very quickly afterwards, demolished 2 slices of toast, 3 cups of water and 5 digestive biscuits Smile
He is currently chilling out on the sofa watching Octanauts!

strandednomore · 19/04/2011 16:23

Glad it all went well, BT. Your poor DS thought not being able to eat all that time - did he understand why? It was hard enough for me when I had my c-sections, I couldn't eat from the night before and the operations weren't until midday (and I don't think I ate until that evening - but tbh once the baby was born I didn't really want anything except a cup of tea) but at least I had a full understanding of WHY!

Beautiful weather today but we haven't really been making the most of it. All morning shopping at Sainsbury's, went to a local park after lunch but were only out for about an hour in all as dd1 was complaining of being too hot! Oh how quickly they have forgotten the heat of St Lucia....

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/04/2011 16:38

No he didn't, which I was so fecking furious at that woman. How I didn't lamp her one I'll never know! I even started an AIBU thread about it!

dundeemarmalade · 19/04/2011 22:12

so much to catch up on - been a bit hectic as DH's family business accidentally bought another bookshop (in Whitby if anybody's going on their holidays!) so it's been a busy couple of weeks.

can't even think of anything sensible to say other than hello and hope all okay after ops, appointments, holiday blues etc...

BeckleinaBunnySuit · 20/04/2011 13:36

I'm glad he came through the op okay BT but I would be furious at the woman eating nearby too, poor DS Sad

Dundee, how do you accidentally buy a bookshop...? Grin
