I can't think of anything to get Daniel for Christmas so might not get anything, but going shopping tomorrow so might have a look. Twins are getting masses of Brio train track and Thomas engines. When we went to see Santa at Centerparcs he asked them what they wanted and Esther said 'a digger!' so getting them some diggers too.

Caz, your plans for Christmas sound lovely and make me want to cry. Please hold onto the belief that you will have another baby very very soon and the pain of losing Belle will not be so hard to bear.

Sparkle, is your DD better now then or does she have to have more tests?

sparkle101 · 08/12/2010 21:21

neenz she is better from this bout of infection but as for the reflux in kidneys its ongoing and could flare up at any point, but she is happy and smiley and eating like there is no tomorrow so it can't be concerning her that much! Doctors said no more tests for the moment - hurrah!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 08/12/2010 21:23

Neenz my friend has a little girl called Esther and she has always got a plane or a tractor in her hand Xmas Grin

This is the first year we have really spent a fair bit on DD's presents. She is getting a Peppa Pig clock for her room, 2 audio cd's, a book, some duplo and some Ben and Holly pyjamas, and then i got her a ballerina jewellry box. F is getting some teething toys, a tippee cup and brio highchair toy in his stocking, new pyjamas, and the complete collection of Thomas the tank hardback book. We got DD the Hans Christian Anderson story collection as a first christmas present, it was something she could keep for ever, an the Thomas book for F is the same. FIL is getting DD a Emma Bridgewatr teaset, and F the lamaze play pyramid thing after asking what they wanted.

F had another good night again, and has been less of a grumpy bugger today Xmas Grin

I am stupidly baking cheese straws and mince pies to take down to FIL's tomorrow - i could be sleeping!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 08/12/2010 21:24

x post Sparkle - hooray!

marzipananimal · 09/12/2010 09:28

That's great that's she's feeling well sparkle :) And I agree about this thread - it's the loveliest corner of mumsnet Xmas Smile

We had fun on tuesday - DH took the day off and we went to a ceramics cafe and made Christmas presents for relatives with J's footprints on plates and mugs. Very cute (although his feet are massive!) He looked very interested and a bit puzzled as the lady painted the soles of his feet and then obliginigly went to sleep so DH and I could do some painting.

Caz Your Christmas plans for Belle sound lovely, you and your DH sound like such lovely thoughtful parents and I hope you have a really happy time along with the inevitable sadness x

bouncingblueberries · 09/12/2010 09:32

Morning girls

Glad to hear your lo is recovering sparkle

Loving all the christmas chat Xmas Grin. G is getting a tommee tippee cup, some tommee tippee pots, Sofie le giraffe and The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. ds1 is getting a cheap mp3 player I found in Aldi's (£12.99!) filled with his favourite audio cds.

Tried to finish my christmas shopping yesterday but failed miserably. I was just too distracted, dh's nana is really poorly and there's little hope she'll make it to Christmas Sad and we're having our roof replaced, which is not something we'd budgeted for but we have no choice as our upstairs neighbours have insisted it's done now.

And I don't want to make the roofers any tea or let them use my bathroom Xmas Angry. Can't even get my boobs out in peace Xmas Angry

Sorry, self-indulgent post over, have some peppermint bark girls. Just made it yesterday and it is lush!

girlsyearapart · 09/12/2010 21:01

That all sounds rough blueberries!
We had to pay out £140 for the car to be fixed plus the £45 to get it towed. Have rac warranty but of course it's the only thing not covered by it.
Wil post more tomorrow. Am determined to have an early night

weehector · 10/12/2010 00:02

Wayhay! Am gished..3 glasses of wine when my pal came round and I ish all over the place. Have boobies like lumpy melons which are going to need to be drained very soon too.

Tree up this afternoon, room smelling of the tree & jo Malone orangey candles burning, Carols from Kings on the CD, looking out to the snowy park...felt very joyful in the moment holding A up at the tree as he looked at the lights. One of those moments where all is well with your world and you feel thankful.

I remember an Esther from uni - she was an agri student & was nicknamed Tractor ( even used to draw a little tractor as her signature).

Going to Glasgow for a posh lunch with DH tomorrow and am ridiculously excited to be spending some adult time alone with him whilst my ILs take A for the afternoon. Oysters & champagne or potted crab & duck leg confit? I was equally excited the night before we went travelling round South America - how my boundaries have shrunk.

weehector · 10/12/2010 00:09

Alice when I come back as a baby, I want an Emma Bridgewater teaset. I have the starry adult ceramic version but am hankering after some Cornishware pastel coloured mugs. My life would definitely be complete if I had them. Xmas Grin

neenz · 10/12/2010 12:26

We were given EB teasets for the twins' christening - I was Shock when I saw them in john lewis for £50!! I said let's sell them on ebay but dh wouldn't let me Wink

What is the lamaze pyramid? that sounds interesting? Will google. The dts are getting masses of brio train track and thomas trains and engines (think I may have said that already!) and we bought their diggers yesterday, they are fab but very noisy! I 'hid' them on top of my wardrobe thinking they'll never see them up there - but Theo saw them in the mirror [doh]. I have covered them up with a towel now and he hasn't mentioned them since! They are only 2 so its no big problem.

Sparkle, that's great news about Issy. Sorry for not remembering, but is that something genetic, did you know she would have it before she was born or something that has just flared up?

Daniel's sleep regressed quite a bit over the last few days (waking 2-3 times a night) so to my shame Wink I got my Gina Ford book out and yest tried to follow the routine... and then he slept 11-6am Smile. I did give him some Calpol too cos he was very whingy and chewing hands so that might have been rather than GF. But trying to stick to the routin again today.

Chulita · 10/12/2010 18:11

neenz where did you get the diggers from? [nosy] L is desperate for a 'deegah' and I want one that's noisy.
I feel a bit mean this christmas, L's getting a scuttlebug and S is getting a few extra cuddles. I just don't want any more toys cluttering up the house and at their age I can't see that they need them.

Sparkle great news! I hope everything gets back to normal and you don't have to go to hospital for anything else :)

weehector I'd love some time just with DH but S can't take a bottle and still feeds every 2 hours so we're a bit stuck on that front :( Hope you have a lovely time!

blueberries we just stayed at my parents who are having their bungalow loft converted and just those 3 days with the builders annoyed me! You have my sympathies...

OP posts:
sparkle101 · 11/12/2010 08:58

Happy Saturday everyone,

weehector enjoy your posh lunch, just have one of everything an blame it on pregnancy weight!

neenz we think she was born with it but we're not sure, although my nephew's son has the same thing so not sure if its genetic either, we're a bit in the dark until the consultant appointment but suffice to say I have scared the s*it out of myself googling it! Hope D slept better for you last night!

blueberries best wishes to you and your DH for his nan, hope you still manage to have a nice christmas, hope the builders don't get in the way too much either.

Fingers crossed the IL's are winging their way back from their trek round australia and new zealand, can't wait to see them and for them to see Izzy as they haven't seen her for 8 weeks.

Having completed christmas shopping yesterday I was driving home and saw a car in front of me with a mobile that stuck to the window. It was amazing and I think I toyed with the thought for a bit too long of flashing my lights to get the car to pull over so I could ask where they got it from. Blush

Still waiting for my amazon order..... a week after placing it! Argh!

neenz · 11/12/2010 09:00

Chulita, We got the diggers from John Lewis - they are 'CAT Motorized Heavy Duty Worker 8 functions' (that's what it says on the box). They were £20. HTH!

neenz · 11/12/2010 09:02

x-posted Sparkle - sorry it's such a worry... Google can be great but frightening.

Day 2 of Gina Ford... Daniel slept 9.30pm-6.30am Shock

bellygazing · 11/12/2010 12:59

neenz Glad Daniel is such a good sleeper.
weehector your tiddly post made me giggle.

Help please all! I am having a nightmare at the moment. On Wednesday night Elodie wore her hip harness at night for the last time, and she is now out of it for good, yay. So far, so good. However, her first night out of the harness was the night from hell. We had been getting her down (after a long breast feed and bottle top up, then rocking and shushing) before 9pm. On Thursday, she just WOULD NOT sleep. We had been trying to put her down well over two hours so I decided with all that crying she probably was hungry again and fed her. At 11pm I managed to get her to sleep in her cot - for half an hour. The rest of the night was hell - she slept for no more than 10 mins at a time until about 3.30am when I gave up and took her in with us, meaning I had a terrible night's sleep.

Then last night was more of the same except we couldn't get her in the cot at all. We've never had a problem with her sleeping in the cot before - she's been in it since we came home from hospital, and I really don't know what to do. I figure it could be a reaction to the harness, or it could be a growth spurt (last night when she was in with us she fed about three or four times) or it could be teething or it could be general perversity. But what I'm most worried about is she clearly isn't getting enough sleep. All suggestions welcomed!

Chulita · 11/12/2010 19:58

Just quickly cos I don't have time to post properly - got a 25% discount voucher code for
mummy and little me valid til midnight tonight. XMAS25 in the code box.

Hope you all have peaceful slumber and I'll post tomorrow :)

My blood results came back yesterday all negative. This is a good thing I know. It means there is nothing wrong with me, no reason why I cannot carry babies safely to term. But I sorta feel like Belle died for no reason at all. Her death is just being put down to a horrible one off (hopefully) unexplainable tragedy...

Just wanted to let you know.

soontobefatnat · 11/12/2010 23:27

Oh Caz, that is bittersweet news, eh? It's wonderful news that your bloods have come back negative. But it's bloody, bloody unfair that what happened to Belle was just unbelievable hard luck. Hang in there. You and your DH really deserve a happy new year.

Belly eeek. Sorry, no useful advice here, but I hope it was just a one off and that you have a better night tonight.

We're having a crap time here. E sleeps so badly in the day, so can be quite grumpy. But now it seems like he's teething, and he's even more cross. He grizzles about 90% ofthe time and it's so hard to cheer him up. I'm at my wits end.

marzipananimal · 12/12/2010 07:46

Hope you're ok Caz, good that you know you're healthy but painful too. Thanks for letting us know.

Belly that sounds horrendous! I was just coming on to whinge about our bad night but it was nowhere near as bad as yours. Hope fully things will settle down as she gets used to being without the harness

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 12/12/2010 09:04

Morning lovely ladies Xmas Smile

Caz Smile and Sad for you.

Belly i may have misunderstood, but do you think she needs the 'comfort' of the harness? She has been so used to it, and to suddenly take that away may just make her feel insecure. Should just be shot lived if that is the case Xmas Smile

F still sleeping ok, friday night he got woken by us seeing to DD, then last night he got woken by me coughing (was quite a lot of coughing)

I seem to have zero immunity atm. In the last month i have had a nasty cold that completely floored me, 12hr gastric flu, then another flu bug. I mean WTF?!! Started coughing completely out of the blue on thursday, woke up with a headache on friday morning (thought it was a hangover from the glass of wine!) then started feeling a bit fluey friday lunchtime and had a raised temp, had some pills and a nap and felt fine so went out with friends for dinner. Slept really badly, cold and shivery, then raging temperature and migraine. Was ok again by lunchtime, just got a wracking cough. Need to get on the vits i suppose...

thedogwalker · 12/12/2010 15:22

Oh Belly I hope things improve for you, maybe she will setle once she gets use to not wearing it.

CazandBelle that is such bittersweet news, but you must look at the positives and know that you and DH can try again without fear.

My DS has stopped sleeping through the night, no more 10 hour sleeps here. He has started waking around 3 am, with his tummy rumbling and he is starving. All my friends with kids keep telling me that I should start him on the baby rice, but he is only 16 weeks, but they keep on and on, telling me their litle ones had started ages before 16 weeks. I really don't want to start that with him yet, I was wanting to do BLW. But the pressure from other mums who look at you daft when you say you're going to wait, they make me feel like I'm starving my little boy.

Anyway my rant over. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend Xmas Grin

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 12/12/2010 17:42

dog i think all of us on here have got to 15/16/17 weeks and suddenly hit an unsettled phase. It really does pass. F started waking 4-5 times a night, then the last week has slept through 5nights out of 7.

Well, poor F has got my flu bug Sad he has a temp of 40.5. He is dozing whilst feeding as it is keeping him quiet and resting. Out of hours Dr was useless

LCRLCR · 12/12/2010 20:43

Big love to you Caz, been following your blog, you've had a hard week and having inconclusive conclusion must be bittersweet, a total head wreck.

Sympathies to all the poorly LOs and Mummies, we've had a very sicky house and as a first timer, I'm finding it an anxious time. First little S was given penecillin for an infected tonsil while we were in Ireland - where I also got flu and we were stranded for 2 extra days due to Gatwick being closed. S recovered and I am only just comign round now, 10 days later but now S has been vomiting all day! It's been scary, she is keeping nothing down and woke up vomiting at 5am. Have any of your LOs had a tummy bug? Out of ours doc wasn't too concerned as no fever but just said to keep an eye so I've been watching like a hawk all day. Poor thing, she's already dropped a centile due to losing her appetite with her throat infection and now this. Oh and today's doctor said she couldn't have had an infected tonsil as tonsils not yet developed at 15 weeks......So sympathies to you Alice on the zero immunity front, I'm feeling the same.

PS how to Take That move so fast?

xx

marzipananimal · 12/12/2010 21:12

dogwalker that must be hard, can you just say something like 'I've decided to follow the WHO guidelines'? From what I've read they do get hungrier at this age - but just need more milk. I'm not planning to start weaning til about 6 months

poor poorly babies :( Hope they get better really quickly

bellygazing · 12/12/2010 21:37

Thanks for words of support guys. After two awful nights, she was down in her cot at 8.30pm, woke twice in the first hour but was settled back quickly, then woke to feed at 1am and 5am - and spent the whole night in the cot. Have been with friends tonight and just got back, so we shall see what tonight brings. DH in with her settling at the moment.

Hang in there dogwalker, I think it's really normal for bubs to want more food at this age but milk should do the trick if you want to go with WHO guidelines and wait to 6m to wean. That's what I'm planning to do, give or take a couple of weeks depending on Elodie.

Sorry to hear about poorly , fortunately we've had little more than a couple of colds so far, touch wood.

Caz hope you can feel good about the news and that you can go ahead with TTC a little sister or brother for Belle without being too afraid. But I can understand it is v bittersweet.

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep with their LOs - keeping fingers crossed that E will settle in her cot...
