dogwalker I've had the same thing with all the family exhorting me to start him on baby rice, but I have held firm. it's really hard as it makes it sound like you're criticising their parenting. oh well, only 5 weeks to go for me until he's 6 months. what are the chances of getting more than 3 hours sleep in a row between now and then?

bouncingblueberries · 13/12/2010 09:51

Thanks for all the sympathy on the building front girls Xmas Smile

Hope things are improving belly and you had a better night last night.

dogwalker hang in there - they do seem to get very unsettled and have a bit of a growth spurt around that time. This too shall pass Xmas Smile

I could rant and rant about these bloody builders today, but instead I shall rant about my cat. Stupid animal has decided to crawl under the cot and use the basket I keep all the cot linen in as a bloody litter tray Xmas Angry. I think she got freaked out by all the snow and then the builders placed some wood in front of her cat flap - not blocking it, just in front of it. So in protest she has shit and pissed all over the cot blankets/sheets etc. If we actually had enough room to swing a cat, that's what I'd be doing right now. I've locked her in the little conservatory (where her cat flap is) as a punishment. No sofa lounging for her today.

Grrrrrrr.

Chulita · 13/12/2010 14:29

dogwalker I think a lot of us get that thrown at us. I'm holding out til 6 months with S even with MIL badgering me to switch to formula and start solids...ain't gonna happen me luv so wind your neck in. S has stopped his every 90 mins feeding (on the whole) and will go for one 4 hour stint most nights followed by 2 hourly feeds for the rest of the night which is slightly better!

How did last night go belly?

blueberries I loved having cats and secretly yearn for another but stories like that make me enjoy my feline free house again :)

lcrlcr just keep an eye/finger on her nappies, if she doesn't produce lots of wet nappies I'd ring the doctor back again or NHS direct. S throws up a lot with his reflux so I judge his hydration levels by his nappies.

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 14/12/2010 08:34

Thanks for all your kind messages about feeding my DS, oh yes I'm going to wait out,no solids yet, I'm just giving my DS more milk or as my DH says "Give him more booby" Xmas Grin

Blueberries I grew up with cats and I would love to have another but I don't think I could have a litter tray etc in the house again. Don't envy the clear up, yuk.

Well my Dad died yesterday and I'm not sure how I feel (he left when my mum was 8 months preggers with me). we were never close, but now that I have my own family, I'm left wondering if maybe I should have made more of an effort to get to know him better, guess now I'll never know. He never met my DS, no interest was shown by my Dad but maybe I should have been the better person and made the effort?

sparkle101 · 14/12/2010 14:27

Hi everyone, thanks for all your thoughts, after all the stresses and strains of the last few weeks Izzy was weighed this morning and weighed 13.3 so put on 12oz in two weeks. Good stuff. One week off 4 mths and we are now in 3-6 mth babygros! Not clothes just babygros!

caz thinking of you with the results, I truely hope 2011 is the year for you.

belly how have the nights been? What is E in in the cot? Maybe she was used to feeling restrained in some way? A sleeping bag may have the same sort of effect?

dogwalker sorry to hear about your dad. Don't feel guilty, as the dad maybe he should have made the effort rather than you.

Just had a look at the antenatal section and there is an august 2011 thread going strongly! They are at current discussing the morning sickness, heartburn, general lethergy! Ah, those were the days!

Off to work on Thursday so have had to wrap my secret santa presents and also wrapped another few bits. No christmas tree up yet so don't feel at all christmassy. Xmas Sad Think I'll have to get christmas dvd out!

WinterChillita · 14/12/2010 14:37

Shock 12oz in 2 weeks?!? Good for you and Izzy :)

bellygazing · 14/12/2010 16:52

Hi all, after two nights of cot refusal E seems to be back on track. She went down - in her cot - at 8.30pmish on Sat and though she woke a couple of times in the 1st hour, she then slept til 1ish then 5ish - and she resettled in the cot. Despite being out late at friends on Sun, we got her to sleep before 10pm and she only woke once (about 2am) before 9.30am! Last night asleep before 9pm, woke at about 12.45am and 6am. Looks like it was just not being used to having the harness off, thank goodness. Mind you, she had jabs this morning and has been feeding/grizzling/dropping off for the past few hours, so I don't know how that bodes for tonight.
sparkle glad Izzy is doing well, E was weighed today and is now 12lb 14oz.
blueberries my cat is not allowed in our bedroom or what will be E's room any more. She kept trying to get in the cot while I was pregnant...

girlsyearapart · 15/12/2010 03:43

Morning
So we are up.
T has slept through one of the nights since she was ill so at least I know she can.
Breastfeeding has completely stopped now as she totally went on strike while she was in hospital and never would start again.
At least I got to four months which is my best out of the three!
I can't believe how long this illness has lasted. She is still wheezing after all this time.
Anyway Internet has been off since Friday but thankfully back on now so can start posting properly again.
Quick question to those people who have been on the mini pill before: I stopped taking it at end of October and haven't had a period since. Took a couple of tests end of nov both negative but when I've come off the pill before ( proper pill) have had a period straight away. So what's going on??

bellygazing · 15/12/2010 12:42

Hi gya, mini-pill is completely random WRT periods during and after. While with the normal pill you are at your most fertile immediately after coming off it, on progesterone-only it can take a few months for your periods to re-regulate. They usually advise waiting til you have a normal period before TTC. And that's without taking the impact of breastfeeding into account Grin

That said, you could be pregnant but too early to tell..

thedogwalker · 15/12/2010 13:02

Talking about periods, I am BF my DS and apart from one small period about a month after he was born, I have had no further periods. Is this normal?

Hope so, as I most certainly don't want to be pregnant yet. Saying that I am going back on the folic acid in the new year, will take it for 6 months and then start actively ttc Xmas Grin

GYA No idea about the mini pill, never taken it, but I'm sure a visit to the Doc can get you answers Xmas Wink good luck

sparkle thats a great weight gain, so happy for you and Izzy, keep up the good work.

Hope everyone is having a good day Xmas Smile

cazzybabs · 15/12/2010 13:04

I have had no period at all.

Supposed to be going out tonight - no idea what to wear as I am still fat :( plus dd still won't take bottle but she is being all smiley and cute

WinterChillita · 15/12/2010 13:54

thedogwalker I didn't get a period til DD was 9 months old, I haven't had one yet with S either. Some of us just don't get them back as quickly as others.
cazzy I had both the same problems as you 2 weeks ago. I solved them by going to TKMaxx and buying a lovely new dress (in a size bigger than all my poxy old stuff) and leaving S with my mum in the vain hope he'd take a bottle and sleep. He didn't but mum had a brilliant few hours cuddling him and he didn't fuss at all!

cazzybabs · 15/12/2010 14:40

For those of you not on facebook - HORRAH I have finished my chrombo shopping apart from my Gran's husband, my dh (who I know what I am getting) and 2 boy cousins who will get money..oh god HOW MUCH MONEY. Poor Poppy gets 1 book!

And we are dog sitting at the weekend...my dh is not impressed - he hates dogs!

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 15/12/2010 15:20

Cazzy Hooray for finished christmas shopping! I have a couple of bits to do, but with poorly children, it ain't gonna happen for a day or so.
Your DD's will love dog sitting won't they? Oh, and F now refuses a bottle unless he is completely certain there is nothing better on offer. Can you pop into town or a big supermarket for a simple black dress or something? Mine was a bragain from BHS and really purty and skimming Xmas Grin

Dogwalker i thought i had a period 4weeks after F was born, was bleeding for 3.3weeks, 3 days no bleeding at all, then 2 days of proper bleeding, but nothing since.

In the nicest possible way, those of you ttc or planning on ttc are crazy! The very idea brings me out in a cold sweat! Xmas Grin

Kids are still ill, i still feel a bit rubbish, FIL is coming by for breakast tomorrow, we haven't got his present yet and the house is a mess Xmas Confused meh, will go to Waitrose later.

We went to DH's big clients christmas do last night and my friend babysat. Both kids in bed by the time we left, F awake 10mins later and a bit tricky to settle, but luckily my friend tried his swing which worked. He is still napping in his carseat and DD is getting thoroughly overexcited by the Aristocats Xmas Grin

LCRLCR · 15/12/2010 15:26

One sodding bug after the other round here, I've been poorly for 3 weeks with fluey bug / sinus infection & now some nasty gastro thingy. So sick of being sick. Still better to get it all out of the way before the rellies descend on Tuesday I suppose.

I take the mini pill, no periods at all here

weehector · 16/12/2010 00:11

No periods here either yet but blaming the ongoing, endless bf. No chance of being pregnant either as I believe you still have to have sex to conceive Xmas Sad Have very primitive urges though..feel like clubbing Mr Weehector over the head & dragging him off to my cave.

gya 4 months of boobies is fantastic. Well done you.

My Christmas shopping complete. If Amazon ever deliver to Scotland ever again, that is. Ordered everything on the 5 Dec and only 1 thing has turned up so far despite at least 5 different dispatch emails. Hoping the doorbell rings all day tomorrow before we disappear below the snow again. In fact, it better not snow before my hair appointment Saturday or I'll be looking like a witch in the 1st Christmas baby pics.

cazzybabs · 16/12/2010 09:21

I fitted into my old black dress and wore my lovely shoes which are a tad uncomfy and rather high so couldn't walk or dance. Dh was feeling ill and Poppy cried half the night with my MIL. My Fil came round (MIL and FIL no longer together but friends) and over excitied the children so have 2 very tired grumpy small children grggghhh.

Dh took the girls to school and has come back home to bed. I am having the mirena coil fitted today - I am sooo scared

ElusiveMoose · 16/12/2010 22:40

Cazzy how did your Mirena go? Mine was a breeze to fit, but the downside is that I've been bleeding continuously since a week after it was fitted (now six weeks ago). It's actually pretty much stopped now - thank god! - with the result that........((drum roll))..........DH and I finally managed to get down to business on Saturday night for the first time since S was born. Woohoo! Have wanted to for ages, but first we had no contraception (it's so long since I used a condom, I don't think I'd trust myself to put it on right Blush), and then just as the contraceptive protection of the Mirena kicked in, the bleeding started Angry. Oh well, I'm hoping I now get the 'no periods at all' phase pretty soon.....

Alice random question, is Aristocats suitable for a 3 year old? DS1's just got into films big time, and he's asked me for a film about cats (he loves cats). I've never seen it, so I don't know...

Knackered here. DS1 is being fearsomely disobedient and defiant at the mo (I think this might be phase 2 of 'adjusting to a new sibling' kicking in), plus I've got shedloads of work to do (I help out on my local parish magazine, and it's a very busy time - not anything I actually get PAID for, natch Angry). Luckily, S is saintly at the moment. Though he wouldn't drink his milk today because he get dropping the bottle teat to beam at me (cute, cute, cute Smile).

Right, I am stepping away from the Publisher file and GOING TO BED. xx

cazzybabs · 17/12/2010 10:02

Fitting was fine - leson learnt about not googling. I got myself in a right state about pain but it really didn't hurt at all ... some slight bleeding (what a bugger) and feel a bit sad about no babies :(
Stupid question but can you use a tampon - I am guessing you can? But I want to go swimming

AM taking dd1 and 2 for riding lessons today - dd2 is so excitied but the thought of hanging around for an hour in the cold is not appealing

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 17/12/2010 12:24

Hello Xmas Smile

Elusive DD has just turned 3 and is also cat mad and loves it. There is the bad butler, but apart from that not scary at all, why not look on youtube first for clips.

Cazzy are they both riding now?

Was up with F last night. He was coughing and choking so badly i brought him into bed and propped him up on his side and he was much better, think he may sleep in his bouncy chair tonight. Poor boy has lost his voice too Xmas Sad

cazzybabs · 17/12/2010 12:32

alice - dear god no .. a one off

sparkle101 · 17/12/2010 12:40

Afternoon everyone

weehector has the dreaded snow arrived? I'm still waiting for amazon order from 4th december - has moved from scotland to north west now, am not holding out hope!

I have a very silly question for gya I'm sure pre pregnancy I could work this out but now I have very little common sense! I remember you saying one of your DDs had a milk intolerance - is a milk intolerance due to lactose? Izzy is teething and we were looking at powders for her but they all say not for latcose intolerant children. I think it means she is lactose intolerant but I cannot work it out. Xmas Blush

Visiting work was okay yesterday but made to feel really uncomfortable by my stand in replacement for talking to my colleagues - I'm still their boss FFS. Thinking about telling her I'm going back next week just to piss her off.

neenz · 17/12/2010 21:48

Hi all, just catching up - been shattered this last week... 4.5mths of broken sleep + 2yo twins growing out of their lunch nap = cumulative exhaustion! I actually had a little cry this morn cos everywhere I turned I could see another job that needed doing eg shopping to be put away, washing up, kids to get dressed, ironing etc and I just could not be arsed! But after a brief bawl i felt loads better. DH has been working really hard lately so I have been doing most of the kids stuff alone. At least D sleeps well. He has bronchialitis atm though Sad, thankfully like his brother and sister he sleep through illness (thanks to Calpol Grin)

I have been campaigning locally against cuts to jobs and services (you might have seen on FB) and also done a BFing course. You might think that is mad when I am so tired but actually I think that has kept me sane cos it has meant some time away from the twins Blush. They are pretty good really - they are just typical 2yos, bloody hard work!

girlsyearapart · 18/12/2010 01:06

Hi sparkle dd2 is multi allergic but it's not the lactose its the cows milk protein that stops her from having dairy. T is unfortunately following the same path and itching constantly..

neenz feeling it for you with the Bronchiolitis hope you stay out of hospital.
Second the crying thing. Since T got ill her sleep has been awful im really losing the plot at night and keep bursting into tears when she wakes- yet again- in the night.
The other two are being difficult as all playgroups etc finished for Xmas and also both constantly needing nose wiped.
Dh also working really hard so I do almost all of it on my own.
In January im going to spend a few nights at my mums as even if he's up to do the nights I wake up and he asks me irritating questions.. Eg: do you wind her after a night feed? Where are the nappies ? Etc

neenz · 18/12/2010 14:59

GYA I think you are in same boat as me aren't you, with three under three or thereabouts? It is hard cos they are all constantly here ie not in pre-school or anything yet. The twins are going to do 2 afternoons a week from Jan so things should ease up a bit. Can't believe you are considering having another! Smile But when I cuddle Daniel I just can't see him being my last Smile.

Feeling a lot brighter today anyway, I always feel worse in the evenings when the exhaustion is at its extreme!

DH went on his works do last night - got to train station at 11pm to come home... no trains cos of the snow. No buses, no taxis. He slept in the office! managed to get hom via taxi at 10am this morn cos still no trains!

Can they end up in hospital with bronchialitis? What would he be doing for me to think he needed hospital (struggling to breathe?)
