Sorry bit boring I know but I didn't want to make any reference to spot as I don't want to jinx her and have her baby come early, then it would be my fault. Also didn't want the mad rush at the end of the thread. This way we've had plenty of time.

Oh Trace, what horrible news. Did the man have any underlying health problems before the flu hit? I just can't get my hear round the idea that healthy young people can be killed by the flu. I mean I keep Reading it in the news so I know it happens but it scares me witless just to contemplate it. The poor man and his poor wife and kids.

Hello LadyT. I'm glad you had a lovely Christmas. Where are you thinking of holidaying? I need sun so
badly right now. I am going to Kenya with work at the beginning of Feb so hopefully I can escape the meetings for a few hours and thaw out.

Hi Indith. I never knew broadband was temperature sensitive.

How are you doing today Spot? I'm Thinking of you but have no words of wisdom to add to Effie's excellant advice.

Beans33 · 29/12/2010 17:33

Oh Trace, that's so sad. Thinking of you.

Spot, I hope you're managing to keep your chin up. Last days of pregnancy are always tough.

Vag, when can you do a test?

I have missed out on loads, but am dropping in to say happy christmassy wishes to all. My Xmas has been rather blighted by what I think is swine flu. I have been ill for 8 days now and its very boring. Not ill enough to be in bed whole time, but not well enough to be any fun. DH has made me spend the whole day in bed today while he does childcare. Has been nice. We've had to bin our plans to go up to Cumbria for new year as I'm just not well enough. So currently we're spending it at home a deux!

Oh and someone trod on my iPhone in a pub as my jacket fell on the floor last Monday with phone in pocket. Screen is partly smashed and taped together. Miraculously still works, but I don't have insurance and it's going to cost me a fortune. Bugger.

Girls are on great form and loved Xmas. Both now seem to mostly sleep from 7-8 - 13 hours. Quite extraordinary. We've quietly put DD1 in a big bed and she loves it.

Trace, I am really so sad for your friend and the family he's left behind. I will appreciate my family all the more. Big love to you.

spotofcheerfulness · 29/12/2010 17:45

He is here! No more to say right now but he arrived at 2.30pm in pool after 90 min labour. All a bit sore and in shock still but will read back and write more later.

Beans33 · 29/12/2010 17:50

HURRAY FOR SPOT AND NEW BABY! Well done!

Happy news xxxxx

zoejeanne · 29/12/2010 18:00

Yay spot, huge congratulations. 90 minutes, wow, well done you xx

EffiePerine · 29/12/2010 18:42

Wow! How exciting! Many many congratulations to Spot and Microspot :). I take it he decided to turn around after all? And you got to use the pool! 90 mins? Fantastic job!

runs about blowing up balloons

Avocadoes · 29/12/2010 18:53

Huge congratulations Spot. How exciting. 90 mins is incredible. Did you even have time to send T off somewhere? Or was he there with you? We want ALL the details (surely you are not prioritising bonding with your second born?).

Rubena · 29/12/2010 18:54

Spot! Congrats!!! What's his name?! xxx I bet things all come together with dp now Smile

Trace what sad new Sad agreed it makes you realise how lucky we are just to have health.
You worried me earlier when you said your DH had let you go out without kids and it sounded a tad like he needs to do that more often? But perhaps I'm reading into it wrong? I hope you are getting enough rest / time to yourself.

Hope the Vagolsta having a safe trip home - bummer no catch up Vagster. Glad you got a chat in with DH

Beans sorry you're break was ill ridden - it lingers that bloody thing. I've been trying to make an appt for ds and myself at the GP but just can't get thru. Might do sit and wait tomorrow - fun.

Lady - bugger I just don't think I want to trudge into London with both kidlets. In fact I know I don't. Haven't hear back from mil but I know she won't want to come over and stay till after dark, and I'd want to stay in for drinks (guess we could do lunch?) I so want to see you too. I know you're really wanting to be in London, but always welcome to come over to mine if you wanted. Anyway, I'll see if I can get hold of mil tonight and let you know. I'd love a kid free lunch / catch up!

Hello Jam, WG, Indith, Zoe, Avo, Effie, Sybs, Invis, JJ, Summer and anyone else I missed. Hope you all had nice Christmas's!

DH has taken ds to Ikea and I've been getting so much done! I was a bit annoyed as he broke a light with his new remote control chopper Hmm (yes he really is 36) and the whole light had to be replaced as they don't just sell the individual shade so he went to get one and I waited home for Sainsbo's

Beans DH has replaced many a glass on mobile phones (his db's Iphone too I think) You can get them for around a tenner on eBay depending on which one you have - he said he'd do it if you want? Just let me know! He's a very handy chap. I was gutted as I had a fab new hair appliance early Chrissy present and it broke but the warranty would only refund as out of stock everywhere, so dh pulled it apart, found the problem and then reinforced it!! Got out the power tools and put a steel pin in the bastard Grin it's working like a trooper and guaranteed not to break again he reckons (well that same part anyway) - he's damn handy to have around, that dh of mine Grin

Right must get dd sorted for bed as they will be home soon....

traceface · 29/12/2010 19:11

wow Spot massive congratulations Grin
Can't wait to hear all the details...

JamInMyWellies · 29/12/2010 19:22

Woohoo how exciting. COngrats to family Spot. xxx

JumpJockey · 29/12/2010 19:57

Just sneaking on while dh entertains the on laws, will catch up later but HURraH and well done superspot!!

deckthehallswithvagolaJahooli · 29/12/2010 20:51

Woohoo Spot, well done to you and welcome teeny spotsta! I'm a little put out that minispot felt it necessary to wait until I'd left the country to arrive. He was starting his journey as we were driving onto the ferry, and arrived as we drove off in Calais. Cheekyspotsta.

Trace I'm so sorry about your friend, when you.mentioned him in icu yesterday I thought that was bad for the flu but what a shock that he is gone. At least the family has the church community around for support. It does put life into perspective.

We are home now, I'm sad I didn't get to catch you Lady and Rubes, with better internet connection it may have happened oh well no worry I'm sure we'll be over again soon.

I'm not sure when I should check, bizzarely I feel pregnant, but maybe that's just post holiday bloating. I'm sure its all in my head. I think I'm due around the 4th if I'm on a 28 day cycle so not sure when I can check, is it 5 days before my period is due. I want to check before NYE if poss. Might get the sticks tomorrow.

Lady I think it is very admirable of you not to mention the cricket, well done by the way. And I keep meaning to ask how did the Swiss Tour go?

Right better go, boys nearly asleep, bit late after the excitement of arriving home, thankfully Emily the rathamster still lives, though she's over a year old now so living on borrowed time.

deckthehallswithvagolaJahooli · 29/12/2010 20:53

Oh and Beans sorry your so ill, we were drinking cups of tea at 11.15pm on NYE last year, its not the worst way to spend the evening.

LadyThompson · 29/12/2010 21:02

V v quickly as supper is ready -

BIG YAY for Spot and our new boy! How utterly magnificent!

Vag, a big apology for not spotting your worry - gosh - all I can say for now is that WHATEVER happens it will work out either way. I know that sounds glib and I don't mean it to. As for the Ashes..............Grin And that is all Wink

Trace, your poor friend. That is very frightening. I am so sorry.

Rubes, I do understand about Sat and cross my fingers for a lunch but more on that in a bit.

I am aching to do a proper catch up but DP will spifflicate me as supper will ruin.

A bientot, mes amies xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx And another YAY for Spot and the Spotlet!

sybilfaulty · 29/12/2010 21:17

oh my word, well done Spot and WELCOME new spotlet! So very pleased to hear such great news. Well done you and take it easy now.

Lots of love XXX

MomOrMum · 29/12/2010 21:30

Congrats Spot! Wow how exciting. Glad you got to make use of your pool and hope he is settling in okay.

Trace How terrible. I'm so sorry.

A belated THANK YOU to my SS. DS loves his pressie and had lots of fun playing with it in the bath tonight.

Veggie Sorry to hear about your stress. Not sure if I should say this, but I did get caught by surprise 1 day after my period ended (the pregnancy that ended in M/C back in May). But it had been a really, really long period....otherwise I think it is a real long shot. I hope things work out okay.

Jolly Just received a package today that I think is the dress? Thank you for sending it back!

I am going to refrain from moaning about my Xmas too much as it will quickly turn into a self-pitying novel, but it was seriously grim. DH's brother, wife, 3 boys (9,12,14) were all here staying in our 3-bed terrace for over a week leading up to Christmas (nightmare, every surface in house covered in their stuff, boys sleeping in lounge until all hours so I had nowhere to go with pregnancy insomnia or with DS when he wakes at hell o'clock), then DH's other sister arrives so we are now 9 people staying in our small house....then I, of course, get sick. Ended up in bed from the 23rd, but still had to sort out all the Christmas gear, presents, etc., including cooking full turkey dinner. Cold/flu evolved into asthma nightmare and I couldn't breathe from Xmas eve, but also couldn't face A&E at Xmas so waited until Boxing Day when I spent 6 hours at the walk-in clinic and had to take DS with me as DH was at the football with his family (to be fair, he did offer not to go but at that point I just wanted his family out of the house as quickly as possible!). Am now poisoning my poor foetus with more antibiotics, oral steroids and millions of puffers. Leaking urine every single time I cough.

The bulk of the rellies left yesterday, but SIL is still here until the 3rd. Just fed up with all of them at this point.

And DS's sleep is atrocious. And he drew all over our leather ottoman and sofa with biro and all are ruined.

Very small complaints in the scheme of things, but I am feeling sorry for myself because I was looking forward to a lovely quiet Xmas with DH and DS until a couple of months ago when DH's family decided to descend. Now my family is already harping on us about when are we coming to Canada in the summer and surely we'll be coming to Canada for Xmas 2011 too??

Will stop now.

EffiePerine · 29/12/2010 21:39

Oh dear Mom, thank goodness most of them are gone. Are the steroids helping? Btw hairspray is supposed to remove biro from most shiny things.

Indith · 29/12/2010 22:05

Wow congratulations spot! How fab.

Dd has discovered getting out of bed she is sleeping much better in her big bed but with all the fuss over Christmas, having hte chicken pox followed by a bad cold etc she is still all washed out and grotty and spends about an hour screaming "no way!" and thrashing about as soon as you point her in the direction of bed before finally dropping off. Children!

Right before interweb kicks me off again (hopefully)

Avo PMSL at Muslims and Christmas and Eid, I love kids trying to make sense of things, they just sound so sweet and confused and incredibly politically incorrect all at the same time. Also, my broadband is pathetic at the best of times, we are a million miles away form the exchange. Some really old phone lines are insulated with paper so they get damp and it all goes belly up.

Spot (again) obviously things will be hectic now the baby is here but just try to keep in your mind that babies make life so very different and do change and put starins on relationships. With a just 2 year old you are only really starting to come out of that patch of fog before going into another one. It will be hard but keep talking to each other now that you have started.

Beans sorry you have been so ill. take lots of time to get better, hope you are feeling more energetic soon.

Trace very sorry about your friend.

Vag having read your worrying, test test test! well, when you get close to due date anyway. Dh and I sometimes go without on what I'd consider to be very safe days. It is unlikely but still...oh dear...I feel I ought to put a stop to that practice!

MoM sorry Chrsitmas was so stressful for you, hope you can get some proper r&r in.

LadyThompson · 29/12/2010 23:06

Dash it, I think I'm not going to get that catch up done tonight. Am so excited about our new babe, though! Spot, I hope you are resting and not too sore and having lots of snuggles with your brand new boy. Awwww!

Indith, that patch of fog analogy really struck a chord with me. Lovely to see you back, by the way.

To all the ladies doing without contraception...I thought I would just mention that in the cycle I conceived DD2, I had ovulated twice. Funny stuff like that can happen! When we had unprotected sex (which was not supposed to happen as it was supposed to be the withdrawal method, as you will remember) I thought a pregnancy was unlikely as I thought I had already ovulated. Er...

Mom, I am sorry to hear of your trying Christmas. Crumbs, that does sound rough, my lovely, espesh in your clackered state.

Oh, and Beans, sorry to hear you've been feeling grotty.

Rubes, can I tell you that DP is 42 and he has TWO remote control helicopters, for some unfathomable reason Hmm He bought one for his friend at Christmas as well.

Right, he's flashing me the daggers which I think means stop ignoring me and talk to me instead Grin As I keep saying, proper catch up when I have timeski.

Where is Urbane?

JamInMyWellies · 30/12/2010 09:00

Oh Missed Vag's news yesterday. Vag I would like to introduce you to DS1 & DS2. Xmas Wink TEST.

THis morning has been fun DH asked for a lift to the nearest town to catch the train as its Sunday only service here at the mo. Took him there dropped him off then got back home and the twonk had put my house keys in his pocket. So so far this morning I have driven and hour and half to catch him on the train and get my ruddy keys.

Oh and Indith we too have broadband issues. Apparantly we are last on the list to have the exchange updated. It takes approx 20 mins just to download 1 song.

Nolda · 30/12/2010 09:21

Congratulations Spot! Well done - 90 mins Shock - good job you were having a home birth.

deckthehallswithvagolaJahooli · 30/12/2010 11:44

Morning ladies, thanks for your reassurance and for creaking me out...JAM! Wink

Having a nice chilled out day the boys are playing with all their Christmas toys and I'm reading 'the help' thanks lady for that recommendation I truely cannot put it down. It is just so beautifully written but a tense thriller at the same time.

I've decided to test tomorrow it may be too early though, it will be 5 days before my usual period would be due, but I have been getting them earlier in the last few months so it may show up. The main reason is its new years eve, and well...you know.

Rubena · 30/12/2010 12:29

Vag, whatever day you did the deed, the sperm would only last max 5 days so 5 days after you did the deed would be the latest you could conceive and then implantation etc usually happens within the next 7-10 days doesn't it? So, therefore it would show up about 10 days after that so kind of irrelavent when your period normally is isn't it? My point being, test NOW as it can't be too early! And if it's neg that should be pretty accurate but if Positive, well I reckon it would in that case be meant to be as I kind of think subconsciously you would like another otherwise you'd be not risking it! Like me for eg, not a chance in hell dh is coming near me till I get this BC sorted!Grin Good luck Vag!! Waiting...... waiting....

deckthehallswithvagolaJahooli · 30/12/2010 13:43

Yeah Rubes I read somewhere the best thing to do is wait 21days after the deed is done,

deckthehallswithvagolaJahooli · 30/12/2010 13:51

Sorry phone had a seizure so had to post, Anyhoo, its been 22 days since the deed was done so think I'll still test tomorrow, I had some period like pain yesterday so was half expecting to wake up today and start my period. Anyway the longer I wait the mite accurate and all that. DH has gone into town to the Chinese supermarket and is going to go to the pharmacy while he's in there. I told him to get the most accurate at the earliest time one but I know which one he will go for, the clear blue one has the little screen thing. Like mrlady and MrPubie he has a couple of those helicopters, have you seen you can get voice controlled ones now, I haven't told DH yet. It comes with a wanky headset.
