moo i cannot believe ypu waited til 4 to ask the wine question. 10am i would possibly question but 4 is perfectly acceptable. Soup consistency = good

i decided to wrap presents. cannot see the lounge floor and peppa is a useless assistant. can you tell i am NAKing?

rollerbaby · 16/12/2010 17:10

Whats worse is that I might have a glass of wine and watch Alan Titchmarsh. I won't though cos the cleaner is here and she's already given my milk stained top (forgot breast pads) a strange look. Slummy mummy indeed.
Babymoo already taking an interest in the telly when I wind him lying down on my lap... news at 10 in particular.

CUNextTuesday · 16/12/2010 17:25

For relaxed slummies everywhere, I can highly recommend biological nurturing. Particularly good for lazy afternoons on the sofa I have found

CurlyCasper · 16/12/2010 17:49

i have an avid telly watcher here. Which has been my saviour on a day of rain+hail+sleet+snow+headache+whiny, miserable baby.

I have no idea whether we are dealing with teething or a cold or growth spurt or something else entirely. Thankfully it's making her extra tired so she's had a lot of naps. But if last night is anything to go by she'll wake every hour until a spectacular meltdown at 2am and then sleep nicely till 6.30 while i lie awake worrying.

And we both forgot to do her 3.30 feed until she nearly brought the house down. Well, i forgot, becuase i can hardly expect a man to remember...

Sorry, had to vent somewhere.

Excited for pol and mas imminent arrivals.

wtf? Only hit post one. Stoopid phone

OkieCokie · 16/12/2010 20:17

That Biologial thing is all well and good cunts but don't you need pert nips for lying on back feeding malarkey? I fear Peppa would be in my armpit if I tried feeding on my back Confused

Cas do you have 1 O'clock clubs near you?

CurlyCasper · 16/12/2010 20:49

had to google it okes and I'm reckoning not 1 o'clock clubs specifically, seems like a london thing. But there are similar through surestart etc. Planning to try and find something for at least three days a week after xmas break.

Squeaks' mood improved over the couple of hours before bed, thank goodness. We had a lovely bathtime and now i'm vegging out on the sofa catching up on the final few episodes of Lost. 'tis good.

OkieCokie · 16/12/2010 21:06

I used to still go to the 1 o'clock clubs when the weather was shite. I could not cope with staying in. Also mother and toddler groups in Church halls? Our library also did quite a bit and the HV ran a baby massage course, just a couple of ideas..

CurlyCasper · 16/12/2010 21:16

the group i go to already is at the church centre here in the village. Been hunting for baby massage and baby sign language to no avail. But i think we'll start swimming again and maybe try bounce and rhyme or whatever it's called at the library. You are right of course, i should go out more. Thanks Smile

SilverSky · 16/12/2010 23:38

moo If MB is asleep in the day and is due a feed then I wake him. Usually removing any covers does the trick! . At night eg any feed after 10/11 pm he is then left to sleep for as long as he likes.

Did my first express tonight. Managed to not cover everyone and everything in EBM so consider it a success and MB happy to take bottle (bit confused at first) and polished off nearly 5fl oz.

Gotta go..... Need sleep.....

CurlyCasper · 17/12/2010 07:48

bloody hell silv that's as much as Squeaks will take at any milk feed. Well done to you and your boy.

I have a snuffly girl, so I guess something was brewing. Besides the snorts and coughs she seems more herself today, touch wood and thank goodness.

Nice blanket of white here. Got to attempt big shop before weather gets worse. Desperately hoping it doesn't continue into next week because mum and dad are supposed to be coming down from Scotland.

Must quickly check pesh for mas/pol news.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 17/12/2010 08:33

Ooohhh. Exciting news about pol and mas. Will be keeping an eye open! It says all over the place that the show doesn't really mean things are imminent, but for me it meant a baby within 48 hours!

curly sounds like things are going better. So are the final episodes of Lost good? I got into it ages after everyone else when I saw the first series on sale for 14 ? or something. I have since worked my way through the craziness to series 5 and really want to see the last one. It was 60? last time I checked though and can't bring myself to shell it out...

I can hear my lovely daughter expressing herself. Time to go. She had the doctor yesterday for the first time (check-up - state organisation) and she was totally fine. There was a couple there with four month old twins though. What a handful!!

AlpinePony · 17/12/2010 08:37

Shopping in the snow, presents successfully bought, pool hall, whipped him, cocktails, nom. Grin

I know I have it really easy here compared to many but it was really nice to get out as a couple last night.

Cosmosis · 17/12/2010 09:05

oooh new arrivals soon!!!!

Well Artie seems to have cracked this moses basket sleeping lark finally. Now we just need to work on him waking less. Last night (a good night)he went to sleep at 8. Woke for feed at 11, 2, 4.30, 6, and 7. He is a very happy boy this morning, is lovely :)

CUNextTuesday · 17/12/2010 09:07

Tchah the only place we'll be going as a couple is if one of us is in a wooden box. Angry

casp only 5??

rollerbaby · 17/12/2010 09:55

Lovely lovely happy FESHes this morning all round.

We too had another good night. Fed at 9.30pm until about 11 (yes I know) and then 1.30 (came into bed), 4ish and 7.20pm (if he fed before 7, I didn't know about it!). This co-sleeping is saving my bacon. He has been an angel this morning lying in his crib long enough to let me shower, put make up and get dressed!! He then napped beautifully and I made bed, did washing and tidied up a bit. Fucking hell.

The only slight blip was me sitting him up on my bent knees in bed after his feed which he then projectile vomited on me. So bound to be hungry v soon. It's so annoying since it took me nearly an hour to feed him. do you think any stays down? It hasn't seemed to upset him at all though and we had lots of smiles which are the best.

I got a bit Envy last night on the other people going out alps. 2 girls from NCT had emailed to say that they'd been out on work xmas do and a posh restaurant with other half. Jealous or what as I don't see how we are anywhere near doing that at the moment. It's not even that I want to, it's knowing I can't. I really need to either bite the bullet and give formula or start this expressing.

Do you think expressing will be easier now I'm nearly 6 weeks along?

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 17/12/2010 10:23

Moo I don't think it all comes up - or at least so they say. The quantity is startling mind you. I also had some post-vomit smiles last time, from a poor vomit covered face, with vomit even caked around her eyes (how?) and they nearly broke my heart...I think expressing is a question of practice - not that I've done that much and it's sort of easier for me, because I have such a strong let-down (silver lining...). Anyway, it seems the easiest way is to express while feeding off the side you are not using.

Cos that looks like he's getting into a good three hour cycle. And three can then suddenly become four. This happened when we were at the PILs and at some level I think they took credit for it, attributing it to the restful atmosphere of their house. Well, it is restful... and they also managed to get me to have my first drink (guinness - good for breastfeeding apparently) which may have played a role. It was export, so very strong and very nice :)

I actually went to the office Christmas lunch yesterday and fed in the restaurant ... It was lovely. It was a constant struggle to hold on to the baby though as her many admirers would otherwise have passed her around like a parcel for the afternoon.Smile T'was lovely.

OkieCokie · 17/12/2010 10:26

Moo if you fancy a quick drink locally then I would be happy to come with you (I am desperate). We could go after baby bed time and be home for 10.30pm feed time. And if we stay local and the shit hits the fan you can be hom in a jiffy. I can do any night up until 24/12!

OkieCokie · 17/12/2010 10:27

It was my work Christmas party last night, I was invited but declined as it was in Germany Confused

CUNextTuesday · 17/12/2010 10:58

My bestest Irish chum is coming to stay tonight en route to Heathrow. Now how do I organise my feeds so I can get lathered and not give the kid liver failure?

Cosmosis · 17/12/2010 13:39

Moo I think I started expressing at about 5 weeks, give it a go.

Artie is so smiley today, is lovely! (apart from Waterstones incident (see Bumcrack for details). I has office christmas meal out on Monday, it will be first time TGO has done bedtime. ha ha.

CurlyCasper · 17/12/2010 18:29

definitely a better day, as long as you ignore the part where SFF had to remove Squeaks from the supermarket and I could hear her scream all the way to the door. We'd just got in a long queue with a heavily loaded trolley and she went Angry.

Anyhoo, at one point today she was whinging in SFF's care and when he walked up to me carrying her she tried to throw herself out of his arms and into mine.

And about 10 mins ago she stole my last chip, ate half of it, dropped half, and then had a tantrum when she couldn't get any more. It wasn't salted by the way. i maybe should have stopped her, but it was too funny.

I realise all these stories involve an upset child, but she has actually been quite nice (to me) today.

cunty, she has well below the recommended amount of milk for her age. i used to let it bother me, but as she,s growing well etc, i don,t try to force it. She frequently downs 4 ounces in minutes then refuses to take more until three hours later. Think she's a little and often girl, which I used to be...

read about your incident cos and all i can say is what a twat (not you or Artie, obv)

swits i felt let down by the end of Lost to be honest. It's on our call up service at the mo. I really want to go and read about what was supposed to have happened.

Glad you had a good time alps and you are feeling more human moo

SilverSky · 17/12/2010 18:30

It's my Xmas do tmw eve and have not even been invited!!! Outta sight outta mind. Tho we haz wedding reception to go to. Depends on snow and shiz. Dilemma whether to take MB cos invite says me and HI but we have noone to leave him with. WWYD??

Re expressing not sure icould manage it whilst feeding on the other side!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 17/12/2010 19:01

I haven't been out in the evening sans Clint - having been expressing for a couple of weeks, but never get that much - jelus of Sky's 5oz. One of my NCT mums came to a meet-up 11 days after giving birth, and from that moment I decided not to compare myself to others...which was useful when I proudly told them I'd driven Clint alone last week for the first time, and was met with ?? faces. Figure different things are milestones to different people.

Was it Moo asking about boob sizes? Mine are hugely different, the left is big and plentiful, the right small and useless later in the day. I've been pumping to try to increase supply on that side as Clint often refuses it. Doesn't seem to have much impact. Am using a hand pump which is getting v boring. Anyone gone electric?
