sorry, meant to say I'm glad you are brighter today cossie.

And nice to have you here switty. Oh how clearly I remember when Squeaks reached 4 kilos! Bless your little Miss.

I would have to wheel the cot back and forth between the rooms to have daytime naps in her own room. But I'm not really expecting the change of room to be a big problem. Just everything else. The only reason we haven't started yet is because we need the rooms for guests at Christmas so she'll have to be in ours then. But once they are all gone she's shifting. Pronto.

I've yet to decide whether to leave the monitor on all night or just leave doors slightly ajar and hear her that way. (room doors are directly opposite, across the landing).

How long have most of you seen HVs for? I keep hearing mums talk about HV said this, HV gave them that, yet I have seen one only once. Am I the odd one out?

CurlyCasper · 15/12/2010 12:03

sorry, x-posts. I'll be back when I've silenced the howls now filling my house.

CUNextTuesday · 15/12/2010 12:09

casp I only see mine when I go to have Rastus weighed every 4 weeks

CurlyCasper · 15/12/2010 12:20

could be cunty. Growth spurts are the only time Squeaks seems really interested in milk and finishes bottles. But they also exhaust her and I have to make sure I don't push her. Does Rastus usually get wakeful during growth spurts? Squeaks has been night waking for weeks before this spurt. It's not food. I think it's always either developmental - the nights when I look in her cot at 3am and she's wide awake, giggling with her toes just about in her mouth and refusing to go back down. Or teething - when she wakes up screaming/angry and cries and cries until given gel/cuddles/tighter swaddle/food, basically anything we can try and eventually nods off because she's exhausted herself. Either way, I find all the good that has been done from the first block of good sleep (five hours+) is generally undone as I struggle to get to grips with her post 3am and by the time we get up I am shattered again.

I've not taken her to be weighed since just before 8 week check. Guess that's why I don't see HVs.

Thanks for the kind words honey. It's not actually weaning that's a problem. She'll take food when she's hungry, and I would rather she finishes her milk than scoffed loads of porridge, because milk is so much more important at this stage. Nah, it's trying to get consistent nap times that's the struggle. But we'll persevere.

Don't be down on how you look - I loved your latest FB photo. You still have a lovely glow. Enjoy that rest and feel better soon.

right, I should get off here too. Husband just come home from the gym, baby nodded back off, so I should do something constructive.

AlpinePony · 15/12/2010 12:50

casp Saw ours the day we came home, she came to check his hearing. Then a week after that was an informal visit to weigh - I think probably to check if you're bf'ing the weight isn't plummeting. Then after that is' been with injections and our next appointment is 3rd Jan (6 month check-up).

Groth spurt? My tiny preemie no longer fits in to his 3-6 month sleep stuff. Grin I'm in limbo, he's rapidly growing out of his 3-6 months clothes but with sales just around the corner I don't want to drop a wodge now, plus jb's mum arrives tonight. Apparently she's planning on buying clothes for herself here as there's so much Bear stuff in her case there's no room for her! Grin

honey As curly says, you look amazing - and far too young to be a FESH. Did you wander through under false pretenses and you're only actually 22? You just wanted to be diffed within a year of graduation? Hmm

OkieCokie · 15/12/2010 12:57

moo if you consider mini okes being funny by pinching my muffin top and "hiding" behind changing room curtain then yes, somewhat funny Smile

rollerbaby · 15/12/2010 13:18

Sorry okie I did giggle when you told me... I wasn't going to mention the specifics :) I worry for the self esteem of his first girlfriend.

Curly and Alpro you are way too mice. The age of 34 definitely qualifies as mid thirties n'est ce pas? Sadly I can barely remember what I actually did at manc university, other than recreational damage at the hacienda most Fridays. My nose is bright red and I had just covered my big saggy boobs before mr moo took that shot last night as hairy moo seems to have developed the habit of wanting to get as close to me as possible whenever I feed.

rollerbaby · 15/12/2010 13:19

Ooh and I've seen Hv twice and called a few times as well. I've found it invaluable but I guess it depends on the individual and how much help you need.

Cosmosis · 15/12/2010 17:23

HV home visit twice, and then only if I go to be weighed or call them. I have never called them as haven't really needed to.

lol nose stoking. Who needs a frontal lobe anyway? Grin

SilverSky · 15/12/2010 19:45

I have found out that HVs visit as often as they see fit. So if you appear to be of sound mind and everyfing else is ticketyboo you will see them once at home and then the next time is at the six week check for junior. So in my case I've seen her nearly every week since the MWs washed their hands discharged me. Clearly HV thinks I need extra care due to horrific hossie after care.

Today's check up went well. MB is perfectly normal for being 6wks and 2days old and he weighs 12lb 12oz!!! Fricking heck chubby checker and his fat boi or what! I knew he was heavier than the last weigh. Got the guns to prove it !! LOL !!

Today's HV told me I look tired today (in front of HI) as did a neighbour. Hoping HI takes pity on me!!!

moo nice piccie!

I haz passed on the hippo book.

Cosmosis · 15/12/2010 20:15

I think it's great they are seeing you so much sil, at least some of the NHS want to look after you Grin

Well that was the easiest night put down we've had yet. fed, dummy in (thank the lord he has now decided they are acceptable), in basket. Eyes opened, eyes close. thrash about a bit, eyes open, eye close. sleeeeeeep. Too good to be true I'm sure!

Now I have a well deserved G&T while TGO cooks pizza. Ahh the good life.

SilverSky · 15/12/2010 20:35

costa HV must think I am vulnerable or summat tho she has deemed me fit to now not be seen til new year. . HV is luverly and I am often borderline emotional wreck by the time she leaves. As you say clearly making up for rest of those useless twits.

Hurrah for sleeping babies and extra hurrah for pizza ! Sounds lush lush lush ! Enjoy !

CurlyCasper · 15/12/2010 20:47

good to have the support silv

baby making moves towards self settling: by pulling fleecy blanket or snuggle blanke with a head over her face Confused

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 15/12/2010 20:49

I can exclusively reveal that The Moo is top totty in real life

I want pizza. Now.

OkieCokie · 15/12/2010 21:57

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah..blah

Cosmosis · 15/12/2010 22:07

same old same old okie! I suggest you start one about the extreme dangers of cake Wink

AlpinePony · 16/12/2010 06:11

I still think my personal fave was "I had a row with my husband, have I damaged my unborn baby's hearing?".

VAG What do you want more? An erotic lesbian affair with moo or a pizza with extra anchovies?

OP posts:
rollerbaby · 16/12/2010 06:43

I'd go for the pizza vag. I've not showered in days.

How long do babycolds last? He is still snuffley. I am such a bad mother. I didn't even wake up properly for feeds last night. Broughthim into bed, shoved him on and fell asleep with light on. I didn't mean to... 12.30pm and 4am. He wouldn't sleep any of yesterday evening as a result of sleeping most of day and therefore went to bed too early. I feel bad waking him tho when he is clearly not well and needs sleep. What do you do?

Hairymoo haircut in a van today. Physio later. Hoping for more sleep now

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 16/12/2010 08:15

Anchovies are Just Wrong, especially on pizza. Furry fish! Furry fish! Make it pizza without so much as a hint of fish and I'd have a dilemma.

AlpinePony · 16/12/2010 08:26

If you so much as dare think about pineapples on pizza our friendship is officially terminated! Angry

OP posts:
VoilaAnotherGimlet · 16/12/2010 08:30

I concur - tomatoes ARE the only fruit acceptable on pizza...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 16/12/2010 08:56

Couldn't agree more and the combination with ham is just vile... Yummy peach halves with tuna fish though, eh alpy?

We had another projectile vomiting incident last night and this was especially awful as I caused it. I was trying to give Missy the drops in a sprayer thing (vitamin K) that she is supposed to have once a week. I was already a day late with it and so keen to get it into her. So after winding her etc I propped her up and sprayed them in. She immediately started gagging (why? I hoped it was just revulsion but seems to have been more than that?) and then vomit was everywhere as far as the eye could see.

Moo I think you are officially allowed to fall asleep when breasfeeding in bed - at least my strict american breastfeeding book warmly recommends it...I can't do it though. Can't get the latch right and Missy brings a lot back up when lying down...

OkieCokie · 16/12/2010 09:33

Wit I have had drops and gel to pop in Peppa's gob for thrush and she gags, I guess I would if someone was trying to ram something down my throat (ahem) so maybe she just gagged so much that she vommed?

Moo I often want to fall asleep during night time feeds but I can't - I worry I will squash the baby or she will fall out of bed or summat ridiculous, you are blessed with the ability to do so.

I had takeaway pizza two nights in a row last night while Mr C was out I figured if I can;t go out and enjoy the festivities I will at least ate crap but tasty food.

Cosmosis · 16/12/2010 09:58

I nearly always fall asleep during night time feeds Grin

I like pinapple on pizza.

Artie is looking super gorgeous today in some new zara dungarees I bought him yesterday. He is also being very very noisy, I think he's having fun on his gym!

AlpinePony · 16/12/2010 10:04

switty I was given Vit K (and D) in liquid form which I was able to give with a pipette or spoon - maybe spray it on to a spoon?

cossie I have also seen you eat a vodka flavoured pizza... Grin

Zara do baby stuff? [thicko]
