Was just thinking same VAG Artie NEEDS deely boppers!!

Re comparing babies - eg Artie has rubbed his eyes when tire since practically day one. Friend of ours baby is 5 months, only started doing same in last couple of weeks!

CUNextTuesday · 13/12/2010 10:35

Oh yes, presents in the morning very definitely , but ONLY after you've had your breakfast, washed your face, brushed your teeth and got dressed Grin

CUNextTuesday · 13/12/2010 10:38

I've just invested Rastus's child trust fund cheque. I feel very grown up and a little bit sad that I'm already saving up for his university tuition fees Sad

AlpinePony · 13/12/2010 11:02

cossie We've only had rubbing eyes for a few weeks - clearly Artie is the New Messiah! Wink On the other hand (see AIBU Hmm) - he did quite clearly say at 5 days old "Mummy, have you put me down for Eton yet?".

Presents should be opened at 5am surely? Then run in to mum & dad's room and wake them up?

OP posts:
Cosmosis · 13/12/2010 11:15

stocking opened upon waking, tree presents after breakfast (the longest meal in the history of the universe!)

SilverSky · 13/12/2010 12:12

When I was growing up, presents under tree, tho on Christmas Eve we would put our list under the rug in front of the electric fire and lay a pillow case each on top of the rug. As well as leaving out snacks/drinks.

We would open presents in the morning.

However HI family - clearly FREAKY!! as they wait til after Christmas dinner which can be as late as 5pm.

Curls like you I will be home alone as HI is working. Shame you are not closer!!!

MB slept well again last night and has finally dropped off again this morning in his bouncer. Tho he was wriggling like a maniac but has finally gone off. At one point, I SWEAR, he woke himself up laughing!!! I think MB could have a career on Strictly as when he is asleep he often has "dancers hands", very pretty!

For me swaddling is Magic non???? Me wish I'd perservered with learning how to do it earlier. Could have saved me from cracking up sleepless nights!

Have sort of sorted a mini morning routine! Once I have fed him, we get up, I wash his chops and change his clothes then we go to the bathroom, MB is laid on towels on floor whilst I shower. At the mo, this is quite good as helps with MBs snots. The rest of the day however often goes tits up.

I really really need to sort out my thank you cards as its been 6 weeks and it will start to look rude non?

Think I am going to buy my pal a swaddling blanket for her newborn when s/he arrives next year. Have already told her about the magic white noise and demo'd it this morning as she called in for a cuppa and MB was grumbling and voila! the white noise silenced the child.

I think the FESHs are brilliant for finding out how others do things and give everyone ideas and/or hope when everything seems bleak. Nothing like ESH support if you ask me.

rollerbaby · 13/12/2010 14:05

Well I've had my perineal gynae 6 week check. All well and healing is as expected. She had to remove a few stitches which could have contributed to my infection last week, so hopefully now on the mend again. It will apparently take 3 months to feel "normal" and it has just suddenly hit me that I really need to do the exercises to make sure I don't have any future problems front and back. Nice. I'm getting referred to a physio and have a ultrasound to see how the back muscles are healing. She also said that I will need to see her after that to discuss whether it would be appropriate to have another vaginal delivery at a later date. I'm guessing if all heals well there is no problem and the risk would be low of it happening again BUT would I risk a lifetme of incontinence? Fuck me what would you do?!!

Babymoo had a roughish night with his cold. Neither of us got much sleep. Really could do with some zzzz's but we have been either racing round or doing washing etc. Really need to lie down this arvo.

I think the colic thing was a one off - not sure whether it was chocolate related or down to getting a cold. Do your baybees get a bit screamy BEFORE they get ill?

He's hungry goota go

rollerbaby · 13/12/2010 18:05

BTW Pampers Active Fit are SHITE.

CUNextTuesday · 13/12/2010 18:34

Baby Dry are better I find, but they still leak. I think that is more to do with the force of expulsion though, rather than the build quality of the nappies Grin

AlpinePony · 13/12/2010 18:41

I appear to have bought a house! Grin By Feb I'm going to have a Tanya Turner style jaccuzi and a noffice for me. The rest of 'em can fight it out! Wink

moo Lidl/Aldi. Half the price, does the job better and doesn't have that "funky" chemical smell which makes me feel queasy with pampers. Would you yourself prefer an elcs next time? If you want it, go for it. fanny was very happy with hers and I'm very happy with mine - although obviously would've been a lot less stressful without all the shit beforehand and illness & shiz! Wink I know a lot of people push for VBAC but I'm just not interested at all. Do whatever you want to do with the full backing of your gynae team. :)

Orange poo today! Shock Be warned anyone who tries the Heinz bolognese! Grin

silv Everyone will understand about the cards. JB's mum & nan helped me out there - the nan gave me pre-printed cards and a list of names, I wrote the names and signed the bottom. They then distributed them - that's the kind of help us new mums need!

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 13/12/2010 20:39

Congrats on house Alpie!
and glad you are healing well moo.

silv perhaps we can have our own little home-alone online new year? Or maybe we should just get some kip.

We use Huggies after too many Pampers disasters. Mind you, we've had a few leaks this week as she's in limbo between sizes 3 and 4.

Dog worked for her keep today, cleaning baby puke off new rug and distracting said baby during hysterics. She been swinging from floods of tears to big belly laughs - a bit like her mum.

Definite tooth pain and extreme frustration over desire to crawl/walk.

Why did none of you warn me aboout carrot poo?

OkieCokie · 13/12/2010 20:41

Yes moo I call them "Active Shit", Baby Dry are far better. And there is no need to make any decisions on delivery or even think about it until about 20 weeks into your next pregnancy! FWIW 2nd time around I found the recovery a lot quicker. I could not sit down first time around and walking anywhere was a trial. This time has been a breeze in comparison. However, I do still have some pain in my bum and I need to get this seen too!

Well done on the gaff Alps

CluckyKate · 13/12/2010 22:01

Just wait 'til you've tried blueberries Alps - there ain't no nappy that can contain the purple explosion from them Xmas Shock
Great news on the house too!!!

P'raps Active Fit work better on girls (is what I've heard) - found them to be fab on LC and never had any leaks.

rollerbaby · 13/12/2010 22:11

Ooh congratulations alpro that sounds fantastic. Pictures on other place please so we can be nosy!

Fanks for nappy advice. We only realised a few days ago that he's outgrown number 2 nappies after being in them for about a week and a half! Totally unprepared just assumed that Active Fit would be ok. I didn't realise how many sorts there were... Anyhoo internet delivery is bringing me Huggies Newborn size 3 in the morning, so hopefully they are better. I didn't know there was a baby dry - whats the diff?

silv I have finally written announcement/thank you cards. However I have no stamps. No doubt that will take another 2 days. Is it rude not to send xmas cards this year? I can't face it...

curly dogs are v v v useful for puke on carpet. In fact I am a bit annoyed that he didn't do a better job yesterday!

Babymoo is a bit better today - much less snot. Hopefully this will mean a better night. Got no sleep last night and this afternoon have got the bloody cold haven't I. Angry Can I give it back to him I wonder? He has been a bit of a nightmare this evening. Went down at 7 but woken up half hour later, cue grizzles and on off feeding most of the evening until about half an hour ago. PLeeeese make this mean a nice settled night ahead... I need SLEEP.

Neighbour just came round to get flowers that were delivered here and said I could have them! Result. Also said that don't worry, things will imprive at 6 months. 6 MONTHS - I thought it was 6 weeks??? Please to tell what changes at 6 weeks - I need something to hang on to - lack of sleep is killing me. So much for big babies sleeping through - pah. He's got a blister on his upper lip from violent sucking. Google tells me this is normal - I'm amazed my nips aren't in bits.

Xmas tree done. Next stop presents.

Backinthebox · 13/12/2010 23:41

It's flipping busy, this 2 x kids malarkey, especially when one of them has a pre-school social life that far exceeds my own. I have had my first invite 'out' with the girls (ie someone who isn't Clucky!) since having LG and typically it is on the same day that my brother is parachuting out of the sky and having a fake early Christmas at our house with what seems like half of my entire family tree. Oh well.

Ski congrats on the house - sounds lovely.

Cas you think dogs are useful for puke? They are BRILLIANT for cleaning up after enthusiastic but poor-aiming babies on finger food!

Moo you've reminded me that I need to do something about chasing up the hospital for a perineal check-up. Our local hospitals seem to be crap. I should have had one at 12 weeks, apparently. Which was 2 weeks ago. Nothing is leaking though, and horse riding seems to be building muscles up tres quickly. I don't plan to have any more, so I am fortunate I don't need to think about subsequent births. I found LG to be so much easier than TT that I would tend towards another VBAC. But it is entirely up to you. Noone can tell you what is the best for you next time round - get informed, make a decision then go for it!

Clucky just so you can see the most wondrously coloured poo ever I will buy little chick one of those blue liquorices at Olympia. I think it will be best to warn anyone who may be in charge of her about it though - it is alarming!

Over here we are attempting to get LG to sleep by himself from children's bedtime till when we go to bed, so we can have evenings with a fully functioning brain. LG is not impressed with this plan. TT is very busy with parties and nativities. I had a moment of realisation though, of what everyone else sees when they see my daughter as she was dressed as an angel on the stage. There were lots of little girls and then at the end of the line, there was TT, looming above them all like a gigantic Gabriel! I've been told a few times this year she should act more like her age, only for the teller to be amazed when I tell them how old she is. I have had people think she is anywhere up to 18 months older than she is, and in the life of a 3 year old that is a lot. Bless her, she is a confident child at home but not when she gets in the company of a lot of other children.

On the horsey front, Little Horse is just lovely. I get an hour of grown-up time a few times a week when I go out for a ride on him. Bliss!

AlpinePony · 14/12/2010 08:44

okie You are more than welcome to the housewarming! Grin All PESHes are - 'tis a given surely!

moo Lip blister totally normal - Bear got them the first couple of weeks - in fact on day 3 I think when I was at my most hormonal and I sat in my hospital bed wailing because I was such a bad mother my baybee already had a blister. Hmm

Kate Purple poo sounds fun! Perhaps we should have a competition on whose baybee can produce the most hideously surprising nappy-gift?

I did our tree yesterday - Bear no longer has time to look at mummy or daddy.

OP posts:
SomethingSuitablyWitty · 14/12/2010 08:55

Six week check-up today - wish me luck! I think all is well, but (brace yourselves for some TMI sharing!) I feel like there is constantly a small air bubble at the vaginal opening, that makes me wonder if everything has really healed up as it was before... I am bracing myself to share my description of this sensation with the midwife . I'm such a prude that I'd rather just tell her everything is fine, but hell, we've been through a lot together at this stage.

Alpy - how exciting about the house! I second the call for pics so we can have a good virual nose around.I feel like we are never going to get organised enough to break into the property marketEnvy...

Moo - I am right on the button of six weeks at the mo, and two things have happened in the last week: Missy has started smiling and the smiles are getting more frequent (this makes everything worth it!) and she has also dropped from two to one waking per night to feed (crosses fingers and everything that this may last!!). She generally has a difficult moody period from about 7 to 9. She's usually asleep by 10 and then wakes around 3 and goes down again until 8 or so. This is very manageable really, so hang in there.

Curly Hope you are doing better - the belly laughing sounds adorable, though the teething and moodiness must be very hard. I am struggling a bit to know when to change nappy sizes by the way. I went up to 2 and they actually seemed to leak more (leg not tight enough?) so am back down to 1. Not sure really...

Awww boxy I bet your daughter is a gorgeous angel. She's as cute as anything. I didn't realise she was so tall for her age. Guess these things all even out at some point.

CUNextTuesday · 14/12/2010 09:23

Morning all - lovely house alps

I have made a proverbial rod - we had the bright idea of selling loads of our motorbike gear to raise some funds and make some space in the house (there is a LOT of stuff). Well guess who has to take the stuff parcelled up to the post office in the week before xmas? Heavy, awkward parcels of huge winter jackets, armoured leather trousers, motocross boots, you name it. They won't go anywhere on the pram without tipping it over (again), and I can't carry them and push the buggy. I can't take the car because I'll have to unload Rastus and I can't carry him and the parcels because the combined weight will see me at A&E. And there's nobody to look after him whilst I go. And they are EBay parcels as well so I can't just sit around and wait till it's convenient for me.

Blah blah, as you were. I know that was really boring, but simply an illustration about how much more DIFFICULT simple things are these days. I want to go to Body Pump tonight in prep for snowboarding. Well, my dears, it's like a military operation.

AlpinePony · 14/12/2010 09:56

cunty Oooh Body Pump for me too tonight - whilst I'd rather sleep on the couch at 9pm we need to build those quads! Grin Thankfully Bear is asleep by then so I can sneak out of the house. Can you not nick a trolley from Waitrose? Rastus in the seat, parcels in the trolley?

Joy and laughter in our house this morning. Hmm I got up at 6 to get ready for work. Bear and daddy got up at 6:15 for morning bottle and back to bed. Bear puked on daddy's t-shirt. Daddy changed t-shirt. Just as I was about to leave he came over to me carrying Bear and did a "lurch" thing saying "haha, he'll puke" - and he did. Hmm Thankfully I suspected this might happen and had stepped back so my work clothes aren't covered in baby puke, I did however have to clean the carpet. MILITARY OPERATION? If only 1 in 100 need apply (Royal Marines) then does that also go for men who wish to become fathers? It fucking shoud! Dickheads.

OP posts:
PollyPoo · 14/12/2010 10:23

Congrats on the house Alps! Yuck to the pukey carpet though. In a similar vein I was woken up by TG to tell me that the dog has pissed on the floor. Apparently I am the only one in the house who knows how to clean it up. Hmm FFS.

I have also been nominated as the one to take all of TG's ebay parcels to the post office today, as he has got a chest infection and has lost his voice. He seems under the mistaken illusion that a) I have any sympathy at all and b) I will be taking Boo with me so he can get some rest. I think he has a rude awakening coming! Honestly, he has been home more than he has been at work in the last 3 weeks and it is pissing me off now. I am vey bad wife, but have no patience at all with pathetic sickly men. Harumph.

CUNextTuesday · 14/12/2010 11:00

I ended up taking Rastus in the sling and the parcels in the buggy which worked well because I could bring the kid back in the buggy and spare my poor back. I feel this is the way forward for the Ebay parcels.

alps you must have been clutching your sides at JB's little prank. I can't think of anything more risible than having your work clothes puked on just as you are about to leave the house!! What a pip! (as they would say on ITNG)

poo just a theory, but if YOU had a chest infection and had lost your voice, and TG was at work, would you still have to take the parcels to the PO? I thought so.

Men eh? Can't live with em, can't kill em

CurlyCasper · 14/12/2010 11:23

In the words of Pollyanna (Hayley Mills that is), today I am very glad to have a husband who will take stuff to PO, pick up from supermarket/chemist, walk the dog, cook my dinner and even take sprog to mums and toddlers when I can't be arsed am unable . Not an attempt to rub anything in, just a reminder to myself that I'm actually quite lucky, even if he can be a PITA at times.

Love the house alpro. Will it look so perfect once you let JB and Bear loose on it?

Child is currently asleep unswaddled. Not sure it will last long. Mind you, she should be stuffed as she's managed to finish both bottles today (hallelujah!) and polished off a bowl of yoghurty-fruity baby breakfast.

Arse, I typed to soon, she's awake and will never manage to fish her dummy from its position under her head. BTW the Sleepytot bunny dummy holder was a massive FAIL. she either detaches it herself or manages to hurl it further.

CUNextTuesday · 14/12/2010 11:29

How many solid meals is Cutie on now curlsworld?

AlpinePony · 14/12/2010 11:34

My ex's father was a doctor and as part of his duty-of-care he was also the prison doctor. We were given a tour of the prison - and had tea & coffee served to us by murderers. Most of whom were women who'd had enough of 'im indoors. Tbh prison seems quite nice in comparison. "Tea, coffee, machete through the skull?".

curly It'll be fine. I expect Bear will weld his hands on to the hot wood-stove and there's a shed in the garden for JB to move in to. The kitchen isn't as nice as the one we viewed a few weeks ago which I loved, but - we can put a new kitchen in, we can't make the bedrooms bigger which was a problem in the other house.

cunty I did laugh, because Bear puked over TWO clean t-shirts this morning. I shall laugh more later in the week as the two aforementioned shirts are unlikely to make it as far as the washing basket... in much the same manner as his uniform which was torn off on sunday and remains still on the bedroom floor and he's got a 6am start tomorrow. Hmm

poll Why's he at home so much right now?

OP posts:
PollyPoo · 14/12/2010 11:41

Got it in one Cunty. Fucking men. I am evil today.

Pone he has either been ill or snowed in. Given that he only started annoying me today, this means that he wasn't actually ill the previous two weeks, but has been skiving. Today he is in full-on pathetic sick man mode and is doing my head in. If he is ill, I wish he'd fuck off to bed out of the way and leave me to my bleaching (cupboards, not moustache, just thought I'd clarify). Am in nesting hormonal overdrive. PLEASE JEBUS let this baybee lay before christmas!
