Shiny new thread, as promised fellow FEBers!

Figured we would start another new one to mark first birthdays, bethlou, so I've held fire on referencing that landmark in this thread title - hope that's okay with y'all!

Anyway, welcome everybody, pull up a comfy chair, someone get the wine out and I'll open a huge box of chocolates for us all to share.

I'm finally seating down and putting my feet up but I'm finished my baking! Xmas Grin

Can't wait for tomorrow night when I won't have to be in the kitchen all evening.

DS has a 6th tooth coming through so last night was with a wake up from 1am to 3am.

Will post more tomorrow.

LittlebearH · 16/12/2010 21:17

Aaaaarrrggh it is white outside again!!

PA I had lochia for 5 months got my period back at 6 months...it's so not fair. Still wincing using a tampon. Anyone else have this issue? Sorry if TMI.
Can't face talking to Dr again.

IC Sounds like a good day!

Abs Glad your dogs are behaving. Your cake sounds delish!!

I dusted off my faithful Mary Berry cook book and actually cooked today, Shock her chicken casserole is amazing. (No packet mix in this house!)
Handed DD a carrott organix crisp thing(giant wotsit) and she happily sucked it and watched me.

Might bake a cake myself v soon. DP will wonder what has got into me!

mamaloco · 17/12/2010 06:36

LBH AAAArrrggghhhh too. It is all white here too.

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 09:13

SNOW!!!! I do feel for all of you having to get out/to work/fly... etc. and keep my fingers crossed all goes well and no one gets stranded. Sad I have nowhere to go today and my 3 year old is bouncing around the house demanding to go to the park to build a snowman (in her pyjamas if possible - no time to dress) Xmas Grin. dd2 is stunned into silence and just points out of the window at the big wet snowflakes falling Smile. So happy for all the children down here that we have snow for the second time this winter when normally we get none. Xmas Wink

Xmas Grin

Ahem, sorry - didn't mean to curse you all with the 9moSR....! We're just heading into part 2 - but part 1 wasn't actually too bad, so I'm hoping DD will get through the next bit without too much overnight trauma
[hopeful emoticon]

DD woke at 21.45, which is very early for her - then took an hour to resettle, but then slept until 05.00, so a technical sleep-through. Thankfully, she went back to sleep reasonably quickly after that until just after 07.00.

No snow here, thankfully - but it's BLOODY cold today. DD is wearing tights and trousers and knitted oversocks on her slippers, as well as being bundled up in her buggy snuggler for her morning nap. DH is be-hatted, scarfed, double-socked etc.

Both the long naps yesterday were buggy naps - DD usually sleeps well to and from our friend's house. I think it's because we walk across central Madrid to get there, so probably slight oxygen starvation because of all the traffic fumes makes her sleepy Grin

I'm most impressed with all the baking going on! I've never been much of a one for cake-making, although I'm always happy to consume the results of others' efforts... yum!

Ooh, is there any stollen left GF? I just adore stollen. One of these days I will get around to making my own. In the meantime...

No snow here, well a light smattering fell last night, which looks very pretty, but has only settled on roofs and walls, not on roads or paths. No more, please! I am GOING Christmas shopping with my sister in London tomorrow, and we are having a FREE LUNCH, so the trains WILL BE RUNNING!

I got my first period a week ago today! I was over the moon! Confused DH and I would like a honeymoon baby and our 'honeymoon' (two nights away in a surprise location!) is on 15 January. It could happen....!

DD has her second two teeth coming through on the top - I only noticed yesterday as I was swinging her upside down, which she loves, and managed to stop her whinging for five minutes.

Ah, I can hear her waking up. She's probably saying, come on Mummy, swimming in half an hour and you're not even dressed yet... Blush I do find it hard to get going in the mornings.

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 12:06

MincePies you can have mine, I am sick of stollen... Xmas Hmm Ditto mulled wine. But then I had my fair share growing up in Germany!!

We are truly snowed in. Must be about 4 or 5 inches and even the washing line has a fetching layer of snow on it. Very very pretty outside.

My two have never had sleep regression, just sleep problems due to teething pain or colds. dd2 was up at 5 this morning with her gums very sore. I tried teething gel and when that did not work gave her calpol. She then slept until 8. Saw the positive in being awake early though because it was very beautiful outside with totally pristine snow. Now there are tyre marks and footprints everywhere and slush on the main road.

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 12:37

Ok, I am going to hibernate now for the winter... It is snowing very heavily again and dh is trying to get home from work. It's normally a 10 minute drive but he's left work about 11 and I guess he is in a massive traffic jam. We have wine, coal, wood, biscuits, coffee, bread, milk (in that order Grin)... so should be alright for a while. I love it!!! Xmas Grin And you can quote that back to me tomorrow when I will probably complain about the snow being a nuisance...Xmas Wink

GuernseyFrench · 17/12/2010 13:19

No sure if we have a SR (can the 9m one be done at 10m +?) but DS at the moment wakes up at 1am. It might be linked to him hearing DH coming back home but he's not noisy so I don't know. The issue is that instead of sleeping 6.30pm to 6am he now sleeps (for the last 2 nights) 6.30pm - 1am then 2.30am till 6.30am. Xmas Confused

We had a few snow flakes this morning but it hasn't stick to the ground.

mincepie I like the idea of a honeymoon baby. Here is the recipe for the stollen. I cut time by using a breadmaker for the rising stage.

mamaloco · 17/12/2010 13:39

At least 10 cm of snow here, and a very excited DD1. Already done snow angels, and had to show DD2 the snow at lunch time!
Traffic is slow but people here do have winter tires so not as chaotic as the UK!
DD1 was super cute Xmas Grin in her show.

46 weeks is actually 10.5 months does that mean that the regression is supposed to last more than a month and a half? Confused [sleepy emoticon]

I like pannetone so may be a slice of stollen would be nice.
Thanks GF

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 14:05

I'm enjoying myself here... Just measured 6 inches of snow on my car roof!! Xmas Grin Checked on my elderly neighbour to see if she needs anything, and dd1 is almost bursting with excitement esp as dh made it home and took her to the park. Techically he's still at work but I told him no one is going to shop him for making a snowman with his daughter, surely! Confused Once dd2 has finished her nap I should really chuck her out into the garden to take a picture of her sitting in the snow, although it seems somewhat cruel (her so called snowsuits are not waterproof, so a bit useless in actual snow)

GuernseyFrench · 17/12/2010 14:14

mamaloco No! I hope it's not lasting 1 month 1/2 Confused (make a G&T and drink it quickly to make the news nicer)

Good luck with all your snow BG and mama

mamaloco · 17/12/2010 15:07

No nap since 10 am..... Confused it is almost bed time here....

'I don't think I like this white stuff Mama!'

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 15:47

7 inches and counting! I've been in Cardiff 10 years now and have never seen anything like it!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/12/2010 15:58

Cuuuuuuute!!!

Cold bottom!!

LittlebearH · 17/12/2010 16:23

Ahhhhhh!! BG So cute!

Well I am really p'd off. Had to abandon my visit to prospective childminder.

Our road is on a hill, we have only had 2cm of snow but had just packed down to ice. My neighbour had to rescue us! I could have walked it but didnt have enough time to be back for DDs tea.

Not major issue, just it takes a long time to get DD ready and out the house in the first place and scraped car off. So re-booked for Monday prob will walk it.

IC DD is 44 weeks and has done two nights without a wake up....you mean it won't last??????!! [wails emoticon]

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 16:39

IC I think she thought the same about the cold bottom... here's the other photo before she threw herself backwards into the snow and cried. Nasty mummy Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/12/2010 16:40

It might be OK, LBH, don't panic!

Funnily enough, my DD's sleep seems to be generally improving through the 9moSR, give or take the odd unsettled night...

I really need for DS to stop waking for the day shortly after 5am. It is making me unable to function.

I need to work out his age in weeks and then his adjusted age.

Awww BG she looks so cute. That's a great photo.

BearCrimble · 17/12/2010 16:54

Right he is 37 and a half weeks corrected. IC will it just go on like this until he's past 46-47 weeks or will I get a bit of respite in the middle???

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/12/2010 17:30

Depends, BC! With any luck, there will be a let-up between the two.... (and maybe he won't react to the second one, who knows??)
