Shiny new thread, as promised fellow FEBers!

Figured we would start another new one to mark first birthdays, bethlou, so I've held fire on referencing that landmark in this thread title - hope that's okay with y'all!

Anyway, welcome everybody, pull up a comfy chair, someone get the wine out and I'll open a huge box of chocolates for us all to share.

LO is 41 weeks and her sleep is her best yet atm. I'm not sure it there was a 37 weeks blip as teething happened and everything else was good in comparison. Plus she's not that great anyway.

Do others still wake up in the night and feed? LO on a good night feeds once in between 11 and 6. One night she did go 6 hours, a 4-5 hour session is slowly becoming the norm (last night was every 2.5hrs though)

I'm giving a presentation in an hour and it's the most rushed together thing I've ever done in my life. I'm been REALLY busy in the lab this week so it hasn't been high non my list of priorities and it's a only a internal one anyway.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/12/2010 17:46

Yep, DD still feeds once or twice per night...

PA
DD doesnt feed at night but no longer BF. She has 3 5oz bottles a day, porridge,2 biscuits and lunch + pudding and tea + yoghurt/fruit.

Seems a lot to me. How she is on 25th cent I will never know.

GuernseyFrench · 17/12/2010 18:47

PA DS doesn't feed at night since he's 5 month old but he's FF.

I need to count how weeks DS is as I don't have a clue Xmas Blush...

BearCrimble · 17/12/2010 18:55

DS doesn't feed at night any more - unless he's ill and not eating properly like last week.

GuernseyFrench · 17/12/2010 18:56

If I've counting well DS is 44 weeks.

We went to the gp again (4th time in a week! Good that we have private health insurance Xmas Grin ) and DS now has a steroid cream for his bottom. It is probably fungal. And he is wheezy chesty again so antibiotics and steroid.

Belgium has just banned the puzzle mats. I'm looking with interested as I have one at home. But it doesn't seem that UK is doing any thing about it? Xmas Hmm

LittlebearH · 17/12/2010 19:08

GF DD is 44 weeks..brithday 12th Feb. Ours must be close??

Your DS is going through it poor love.

GuernseyFrench · 17/12/2010 19:12

LBH He's born 4th Feb, so have I miss counted? Hmm

He's a real little soldier, the only time he's grumpy he's when he had very high temperature, most of the time he's just himself. So proud of him [go to the kitchen and wipe the tears away emocotion]

LittlebearH · 17/12/2010 19:17

Ahhh bless him. Poor litle thing.

DD has started throwing leg thumping strops! I just know she is going to be trouble. My mum said at 6 weeks old, ooh she is strong willed isn't she?!

Dunno about miss count. Prob one of my dozy HVs getting wrong.:)

BG LBH lovely pics. They can show so much expressions just with their faces.

BearCrimble · 17/12/2010 19:52

LBH She is lovely! She is 43 weeks if she was born on the 12th Feb. Maybe you counted her birthdate as '1' when the birth date should be zero and the following Friday (the 19th Feb) is when she would have been one week.

Right I am going to bed.

BabyGiraffes · 17/12/2010 19:53

LBH she is gorgeous!!! Xmas Smile Mine's 3rd Feb. Can't believe it's not so long to their first birthdays. Arrgh, where is the time going??

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2010 19:55

she's so big (not in a bad way) and adorable.

LittlebearH · 17/12/2010 20:04

Thanks ladies!

PA Well done on presentation. Just the thought makes me sweat!!!

Glad you think DD looks big...everyone else comments on how dinky she is. HV said oohh was she prem? Er no, bang on time give 12 hrs!

Kiwi made DD vomit. Aparrently common for babies to react to it in some way. Like fresh strawberries. Was advised to avoid.

All on my own tonight DP on Xmas do. He is staying at hotel. Have cleaned up enough mess for one day! Bed all to myself Yay!!

stoofadoof · 17/12/2010 20:29

he he watercress

DS is erm, 42 weeks

has 2 8oz bottles and 1 9oz bottle. Usually porridge or toast for brekky with fruit, then whatever we're having for lunch and tea? also has a couple of yogurts, fig roll etc for puddings after lunch and tea?

he was just shy of 23lb when weighed at 8month check a couple of weeks ago.

for about 4 weeks he has been sleeping 7 to 5?. last two nights he has been awake for 2.5 hours through the night? urgh? am knackered (sorry for those of you who haven't had a good nights sleep for ages!) night night

stoofadoof · 17/12/2010 20:32

sleep regression?? urgh

bethylou · 17/12/2010 21:26

Hello all. Another busy week in the Bethylou household but have been reading.

Love the pics BG and LBH. I will make it my mission over the holiday period to put up a pic of my DS2 (otherwise known as the incredible hulk at 10.75Kg from birth on Valentine's Day - how many weeks?!) He's now launching himself (in cruising mode) from one piece of furniture to another which is quite scary!!

LBH I have resorted to tying a muslin around DS2's neck at mealtimes, neckerchief stylee, and that seems to be tolerated more (and catches the sick quite well).

DS1 lost 500g of weight this month despite my best efforts to feed him up. Back to the drawing board on that front. In addition, I had a blood test 10days ago for arthritis cos I keep waking up very stiff in the mornings (and nights-cue comedy attempts at moving fast to DS2 before he wakes DS1!) The test has not come back clear and I've been booked in to see the GP on Wednesday to find out more. I'm quite concerned and it's goin got be a long few days. Hoping that 2011 will bring a less stressful year really..

GF sorry to hear that DS is still under the weather-hope he's better soon.

BG Loving your excitement about the snow. DS1 is very excited about Christmas here so I think snow as well might just send him (and therefore me!) over the edge!! He strated a new nursery today and loved it. He and DS2 went in opposite directions and couldn't have cared less whether I was there or not. DS2's not even going there yet, but heh! People keep telling me that having adventurous, confident boys is a good thing - as long as it doesn't mean they just don't want me!!

Off to speak to DH-sorry for lack of replies to others.

p.s. like the sound of a honeymoon baby - that could be too long nights Mince Pies Grin

p.p.s I go for the parenting where I make it up as I go along, as long as I'm consistent. I've read and digested the baby whisperer and follow that mostly but with my own common sense added in. Will know in about 18 years' time whether it was any good!! And by then it'll be way too late to do anything about it and I'll be old and senile... Smile

bethylou · 17/12/2010 21:31

Oh yes, and DS2 hasn't been fed in the night since he was 11 weeks old, but was huge, and was breast-fed until 5 months. I'd be interested to see the balance on here of babies still feeding in the night who are breast or formula fed as my friend has just stopped breastfeeding her 14month old 3 times in the night. Do you think it is mostly for comfort at this stage or do some of them still need the top ups? Have no real knowledge and am intersted to hear your thoughts.

bethylou · 17/12/2010 21:32

er.. that was supposed to say interested! Blush

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2010 22:27

I think DD needs at least one feed in the night. She could probably be resettled so she went 6 hours. However, since I'm not around in the day, I'm happy happy to feed as long as it's been a couple of hours.

OTOH my niece has always slept through. She formula fed now (and has been since 3 weeks) but she was still sleeping 8 hours before, just it's been 12 hours since.
