New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

Xmas Sad
SummerRain · 18/12/2010 14:57

MOS.... i'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed for your kids... what rotten luck Sad

we have a few feet of snow here and dp just had to drive into town to collect our mate from the bus. He made it in but they might be walking home as it's all uphill to get back [eek]

On the plus side i have enough food in the house to last through christmas so we won't starve Grin

dinkystinky · 19/12/2010 20:36

Hi all - glad you're all stocked up Summerrain and you dont have to venture out again for a while. Hope DP and your mate got back to yours again.

Hope a new flight/route is settled for DS1 and DD1 MoS and xmas is back on for you guys.

Have had a quiet weekend with the boys - DS1 still abit under the weather and Danny v grizzly. Dh took Danny to a gymboree xmas party on Saturday while DS1 and I did a shop and some xmas book shopping - in the space of that hour about 10 cm of snow fell in north west central london and it took us around an hour to drive about a mile and a half home. Didnt bother venturing out again after that so have had a cheesy xmas dvd fest - had to venture out to St Johns wood this afternoon for the boys' haircuts and it was lovely. had a great play in the snow in the little local park before their haircuts. It was so quiet though on the high street for the last shopping weekend before xmas- suspect the snow scared everyone off.

Hello.

Over the past few days, Luke has been telling me that he has had a wee or a poo.
Does this mean he is ready to potty train already? Sad

dinkystinky · 20/12/2010 12:40

In my book, it just means they're vocab is expanding to bodily functions SM Wink

I suspect his vocab is way ahead of his ability to think about holding wee in till on potty so just say, really? Lets go change you then... Its when he starts telling you he needs to do a wee or poo that he's ready for potty training.

SilveryMoon · 20/12/2010 12:48

Phew, thank God for that dinky I am so not ready to potty train again!

We have recently been getting the potty out for him and letting him have some nappy free time, but he sits on the potty, looks all pleased with himself, then stands up and wees on the floor!

SummerRain · 20/12/2010 14:10

SM... A tels us as well (not words obv but with gesturing) but i wouldn't contemplate PT til a good while off. I have two older ones who still barely grasp it some days so the last thing i need is a third!

mos... any news on the kids? I heard Gatwick is open again today.

dinkystinky · 20/12/2010 14:12

We generally know Danny is doing a poo as he goes off to hide somewhere and we hear a little grunt and then the smell hits us...

Any news on flights MOS?

OP posts:
mumoverseas · 20/12/2010 14:39

hello all, DC1 and 2 still in UK. They eventually went to their dad's house, a 7 hour journey (normally 2 hours apparently!)

We have been trying to get through to the number BMI gave them (before slinging them out of the airport once their bags were offloaded) but despite 4 of us phoning since saturday we still haven't got through.
A lovely friend out here had the number for the BMI manager out here so DH spoke to him a few times Saturday night and yesterday and despite being told by staff at LHR that there were no flights until after christmas we have them booked on a flight tomorrow.
The flight from LHR to Riyadh left about an hour ago (there is only one plane for this route!) Friends are due out back to UK at around 2am this morning and if it lands, and weather is ok tomorrow, DS and DD will be leaving, inshallah (god willing) at around 10.30am tomorrow. Lots of ifs but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel.

SM speaking of shite, H has been using a potty for just over a week now. Last week he took his trousers and nappy off, sat on it and did a poo. Then a wee, then another poo and every night this week after bath he has sat and done at least a wee and sometimes a poo. DH was most proud and there is a picture on his FB (of the actual first poo!)Shock

dinky H used to do that but doesn't grunt anymore.

SilveryMoon · 20/12/2010 17:05

mos lol. I remember Jacob's first poo in the potty, I texted everyone I know. Didn't think to take a photo and post it on fb though........is that the pic that's gonna come out when H starts bringing girlfriends home? hahahahaha

SilveryMoon · 20/12/2010 17:07

Oh, should add (the whole world isn't about me) hope dc's get over ok mos Smile

mumoverseas · 20/12/2010 17:14

SM I'm sure it will Wink
DC arrived at Heathrow a short while ago and attempting to get to travelodge. Apparently roads are mad and the BAA were stopping people going into T1 and T3 earlier for health and safety reasons. Fingers crossed it will be sorted by 7am tomorrow and flight still scheduled

SilveryMoon · 20/12/2010 18:02

yes fingers crossed.
Wow, there is a segment on the news right now about it.
But seriously, I don't have much room, but have 2 sofa's so if your dc struggle to get a room or whatever, they are more than welcome to come here if needs be.
I can offer a warm flat, a hot bath/shower and a bit of food.
Always remember the offer is there for your children at any time xxx

SummerRain · 20/12/2010 18:27

my mom rang ealier to tell me it was -17.6 celsius in their village last night. Wasn't much warmer here... i was out back with the camera trying to get shots of the moomlit snow and almost died of hypothermia! -15 predicted for our area tonight >

SilveryMoon · 20/12/2010 18:30

OMG SR that is cold! Think it was -9 here this morning Sad

SummerRain · 20/12/2010 18:42

I'm so bloody unmotivated when it's cold. I have the entire house to organise for christmas, an assignment to do, chocolates to make, a cake to marzipan, laundry to tackle and three children i should be parenting and i just sit here shivering all day feeling miserable.

At least the kids aren't bored, our friend (ds1's godfather) is here and has spent most of the last two days playing ever more convoluted versions of hide and seek and freeze tag with them Grin

SilveryMoon · 21/12/2010 08:32

Morning. Going a bit crazy here. The boys have been fighting all morning, along with crying and whinging and houting at each other.

Jacob has his pre-school jab this morning. Oh joy

SummerRain · 21/12/2010 08:37

lol, it's not even morning here yet... all kids still sound asleep Grin

I'm only up as our friend had to catch the bus so i was seeing them off and was hoping to catch the eclipse but unfortunately it's overcast here (sod's law that after it being clear as a bell for days as soon as there's a astronomical event not seen since tudor times (the selenelion) the skies go grey Hmm)

What jab do they get at that age? We have nothing from 12/13 months until 4/5 which is done in school

SilveryMoon · 21/12/2010 08:41

It's really grey here too.
Very Envy of all your kids still being in bed. We've been up for just over 3 hours.
He's having a booster for MMR and something else (I think)

SummerRain · 21/12/2010 10:25

dd wandered down at 9ish and A about half an hour after her... ds1 is still comatose Grin

Poor Jacob, hope he doesn't suffer any ill effects... rotten timing for an MMR!

SilveryMoon · 21/12/2010 10:27

Yep. I think he was a bit rough after his last one.
The appointment is at 11:15 so i'm going to give him some calpol in a bit and then some ibuprofen when we get in.

SummerRain · 21/12/2010 10:41

A was rotten after his, got the mini measles and all... I was sooo glad i changed the appointment from a week before his christening until after it.

dinkystinky · 21/12/2010 11:24

So jealous of your kids lying in today SummerRain - Danny was up at 5, the little monkey...

Hope the jabs go ok SilveryMoon.

OP posts:
SummerRain · 21/12/2010 11:39

They do it every day in the cold weather. dd gets up early in summer as she has a huge window in her room that's impossible to put a blind on and it's east facing but the boys are lazy year round.

It almost makes up for the fact that A was up til 12 last night and woke again at 2am to come into our bed and kept me awake for ages and then ds1 woke me at 6 screaming for me Hmm
