New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

Hello all. Freezing my arse off here procrastinating writing an assignment on the Artic.

Aaron went to see the reindeer today with the playschool kids... he loved it down there (despite the stag refusing to let the females come down and take food from the kids) and had an almighty hour long meltdown when we had to leave. Unfortunately I had work to do at the playschool so had to deal with him screaming blue murder up there Blush He made up for it though when we got home. dp asked him 'Did you see reindeer today?' and he ran over to dd's playmobil advant calandar and picked up the reindeer and brought it to dp Grin (Any communication os an event worthy of celebration at this point!)

He also remembered how to say Mama... he hasn't said it in over a month. Apparently it's very common with oral dyspraxia to forget words and sounds they've already learned but it is heartrending to always be one step forward and one back... This is the fourth time he's learned to say Mama now. He hasn't said Dada in over 6 months. Although I had a lovely moment in the car with him on monday, i was getting him strapped in and he was gurgling and making sounds and suddenly he said 'Hi'... completely by accident but as soon as he said it and he saw me smile he raised his hand and waved at me Grin I don't think he has any idea how he did it though poor thing as he hasn't repeated it despite going mad waving at everyone since!

Hope everyone is well and copes ok with the nasty weather that's due.

SilveryMoon · 15/12/2010 19:38

Hi all.
SR Bless Aaron saying 'Hi' like that, must have been a lovely moment Smile

Nothing much happening here, nothing exciting to share..........

dinkystinky · 16/12/2010 12:47

Summerrain - lovely that A is speaking abit more, even sporadically. And lvoed the story about the reindeer! You're right, any communication is brilliant Grin

Danny, strong minded at the best of times, is going through a very willful stage at the moment with tonnes of tantrums. I suspect a lot of it is his inability to communicate what he's feeling/thinking/wanting properly - and possibly him sickening for something - but god its tiring to deal with! This morning I was 20 minutes late getting out the house to work thanks to his tantrums...

SummerRain · 16/12/2010 12:54

dinky... i feel your pain. A is turning into a terrorist, if he doesn't get his own way he tantrums something awful. Even when it's something ridiculous like there's nothing on tv he wants or he's pointing at his juice cup and i tell him he can only have milk or water.

Every... little... thing... I'm worn out!

SilveryMoon · 16/12/2010 15:56

Luke is a nightmare tantrumer too. We just leave him now to cry it out. It's always stupid stuff too.

dinkystinky · 16/12/2010 16:17

Leaving Danny to tantrum it out is like inviting hurricane katrina into your living room - just so not worth the clean up operation Grin

Poor DS1 has come home early from school as he's feeling ill - at least he was feeling ok yesterday for his class christmas party.

OP posts:
SummerRain · 16/12/2010 18:33

lol... same with A, the only way i can leave him to it is in his playpen and even then he head bashes and throws things so it's more hassle than it's worth. Far easier to just bow to the tiny slave master and obey his wishes in most cases!

It's snowing here so school may be closed... oh good Hmm

dinkystinky · 16/12/2010 20:51

I am so glad A and Danny are separated by the irish sea - otherwise they'd be over toddler overlords by now Grin

SummerRain · 17/12/2010 10:34

God help us all if they ever meet.... my mother calls A 'The Diva' for good reason, the last thing he needs is a partner in crime Wink

The damn school never texted me this morning, i had to ring a friend at 9.05 to find out the school had texted everyone else at 7.30... I could have had a bloody lie in Angry Have to try and go out now and get supplies, it's still bloody snowing fgs

dinkystinky · 17/12/2010 20:18

Maybe our next thread should be called Fab Feb 2009: Dont mess with the Divas Grin

Hope you managed to survive the supply run ok Summerrain

Morning.

Hope all's ok SR They said on the news that Ireland was getting more snow than it had had in 20 odd years (or something)

We put out tree up last night. Looks very nice. The boys helped decorate it so there are a lot of branches that have 2 or more baubles on them Grin
But if the kids don't drag it down, the cats will.

Off to my dad's tomorrow to collect all the ds's pressies and drop off ours.
Think I'm gonna have a housework day today.

No more work for just over 2 weeks, and when I go back I will be officially permanent so no more bloody time sheets, no more signing in, and no more waiting for a permanent member of staff to take the kids to the garden because I will be the permanent member!

I'm getting really excited about christmas now, can't wait to see the boy's faces on the morning

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 07:09

SM do you want H to help with the housework, he is pretty good with a mop Wink
Fingers crossed ref blardy snow, just waiting to hear whether DC1 and 2 will be flying out today. If not, they may be with you for Christmas SM as think you live quite close to Heathrow Grin

SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 07:12

Lol Mos Yes I do live very close to Heathrow, 5 mins on the bus away.
I can see the airport from my kitchen window.
Tell them they are more than welcome to come here, but only if they look after the kids and do my ironing Wink

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 07:14

mmm, not too good at ironing sadly.
Whilst you are putting the kettle on, have a look out your window and see how bad it looks at the airport. Apparently some flights will be delayed/cancelled. T5 is apparently the worst, thank god they are at T3.

SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 07:26

I don't even know what terminal I can see!!!
There is a bit of snow out there and it still looks really icy Sad

dinkystinky · 18/12/2010 07:30

Morning all - MOS, hope DC1 and DC2 get to fly home ok. SM - bet the kids loved helping you decorate the tree. Didnt realise you have cats too - are you taking bets on how long the tree will stay upright? Grin

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 08:45

Yes dinky I told dp I didn't think it'd last the night! We decided to close the living room door when we went to bed to keep the cats out.
We have 2 cats (both boys), they are as troublesome as the kids!
If it's not the kids splashing around in my bath water, it's the cats, if it's not a child on my lap whilst i go to the toilet, it's a cat. If the kids sleep through the night, it's the cats that keep us awake.
If I wait til after the ds's have gone to bed to crack open the ice-cream, I have to share it with cats, the list is endless!
They are indoor cats, so are extra lively here!
Last year the cats were so small that they could both actually sit in the tree, not this year though the big old bloaters!

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 08:58

christ SM you really are outnumbered by all the males in your house.

Not looking good at Heathrow. Kids trying to check in but are being warned most definitely will be delayed and may be cancelled and if so, no spare seats on any BMI flights this side of christmas Xmas Sad

SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 09:00

Oh mos that is really really shite Sad
I really hope it is just a delay and they do manage to get to you before christmas

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 09:08

fuck. According to news BA have cancelled all flights between 10am and 5pm. Please god don't BMI do this

SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 09:18

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and for them. Sitting around at the airport can't be much fun

SilveryMoon · 18/12/2010 09:55

mos The snow is coming down quite heavy here now Sad
