New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

I see on the banjaxed plans thread that MoS's eldest 2 are in the air on their way home to see her - great news MoS. must have been the collective good will of MN behind you guys that moved the odds in your favour Wink

fabulous Grin

mumoverseas · 21/12/2010 15:18

hello all, see you've heard the good news Xmas Grin I had a little cry after I found out they were finally in the air. Have been totally overwhelmed with all the lovely comments from complete strangers, two of whom even offered to take the kids in and keep them until they could get a flight. That is in addition to the two lovely fab febbers who made that lovely offer too.

SM hope jabs ok. Just a reminder that around 7 to 9 days after H had his jab he was very unwell (spotty and whingy) and was initially diagnosed with chicken pox but it was just a reaction. Hope all ok.

SR shite, that is cold! 24 degrees here!

right, have a lot to do. Hadn't dared do too much preparation in case I jinxed everything. M & A due here in around 2 hours so had better get on! x

SummerRain · 21/12/2010 15:32

Hope to recover before heading off to PIL at the weekend.

SilveryMoon · 24/12/2010 11:35

Hello.
Is everyone ready then?

Jacob has just announced that he doesn't want any presents and that Father Christmas should take them to his friends Hmm

SummerRain · 24/12/2010 12:13

I'm insanely excited Grin Still have some last minute cleaning to do and dd's Santa present to assemble tonight but everything else is done. Mine will be getting their first presents this evening so Christmas officially starts here tonight Xmas Grin

SilveryMoon · 24/12/2010 12:16

that's good SR
When I was growing up, we were always given a present to open on xmas eve.
I'd like to carry that on and do it with my boys but dp is a miserable sod who wants them to wait til morning Sad

SummerRain · 24/12/2010 12:25

I had to fight tooth and nail to get dp to agree to it when dd was little but he warmed up to it after a few years and now he's taken to picking the presents himself... they're getting the presents our friend dropped up earlier this week when he visited as they're things it would be nice for them to get a chance to play with for a while rather than just having a short time with them before we decamp to my parents (a doll for dd, a ben 10 spaceship for ds1 and a RC car for A)

It took perseverance and a few arguements to convince dp though, even last year he was a bit odd about it!

SilveryMoon · 24/12/2010 13:11

Maybe I should just do it then. I think it's nice to open one after dinner, you know just take the edge off of the excitment.
I remember being about 17 and me and my bro had gone to my Dad's for xmas eve dinner. He said we could each pick out a gift to open then. My bro opened a video game, I opened a pack of blank videos Angry lol

SummerRain · 24/12/2010 13:19

pmsl... my mother never let me pick, she decided what i was allowed to open; always a selection box and a small gift. My lot get new PJs and a gift of our choosing. All the pressies are neatly grouped together, some will be reserved for boxing day or new years as they're things that are better opened on their own with time to play with them (ie: bead set for dd and some lego stuff)

dinkystinky · 24/12/2010 17:39

Happy Christmas all! Hope you all have a lovely christmas with your loved ones. Hope the kids have fun opening their presents tonight SR - lovely thing to do. We're having pjs and a book delivered early by the xmas elves for the boys this evening...

Hope you are all enjoying a nice relaxing christmas eve drink before the mayhem that will be the morning!
Hope you all get all you wished for
xxx

mumoverseas · 25/12/2010 03:41

Happy Christmas all you lovely Fab Febbers. I hope everyone has a lovely day
Envy at relaxing christmas eve drink.

Actually, I have been given a bottle of Pimms as an early birthday present by my lovely friend who is back in the UK for Christmas. Think I might break it open a day early.
Had a lovely time yesterday pm, went horse racing with DH and DC1 and 2 and had a lovely and 'normal' afteroon. It is DC1's last visit to KSA and DDs last visit will be Easter and hopefuly we will all be leaving for ever in the summer. Need some normality in our lives. xxx

SilveryMoon · 25/12/2010 17:12

Evening all.
How is your day going?
It's been nice here, the boys loved all their presents and Jacob has yet to put down Buzz Lightyear!

Dp's just getting ready to go to work. Woo-hoo, get the bed all to myself tonight (until Jacob climbs in).

Had a nice roast beef dinner that dp cooked, although he was a bit peeved that I forgot to buy potatoes and sprouts. whoops!

Kids are just having some tea - turkey burgers! lol, then it's bath for them, curl up with mummy on sofa and to bed in time for me to have a few peaceful glasses of vino whilst watching the horror that is eastenders

mumoverseas · 26/12/2010 05:08

hello all, hope you all had lovely days yesterday.
Pretty mixed one here. Was lovely to have DS1 and DD1 out here and all 4 kids had a fabulous time. Watching DD2 and H opening their presents was brilliant.

DH has continued being an arse and the way he acted has made me (FINALLY!) realise I deserve so much better than that. I have therefore decided to leave him. I will have to stay here until at least Easter, if not end of June. I cannot really leave until then as there would be serious ramifications (sp? its early) with regards to DS1 and DD1s education and also DD2 is very happy and settled at her school here.

I have already applied for school for her close to our UK home to start in reception in September next year and I will find out on 1st April if she has a place. Until then, I have lots of planning to do.

I have signed up for a first aid course that is running here in the end of February which leads to a certifate as feel this would be useful if I am thinking of setting up my signing classes back home. Lots of planning to do.

Thankfully fuckwit has gone to work today (he didn't have to and indeed had previously promised he wouldn't) so at least I can have a lovely peaceful birthday with all my children. DS1 had promised to make me breakfast but I imagine knowing what time he gets up it will be nearer lunchtime Grin

SM am so impressed your DP cooked for you. FW seriously couldn't boil an egg.

SilveryMoon · 26/12/2010 08:52

MOS A very happy birthday to you xxxx
I'm so sorry your (d)h/fw has continued to be a pratt. I do think it's the right decision to leave him but like I've said before, fully understand you waiting it out for the dc's education.
What do DC1&2 think about his behaviour? Do they see/hear it?

With dinner here, I said to dp at about 8:30am, "Oh I'd better go and put the beef in, it will take 3 hours"
He said "Yes, give it half hour though"
Then I just didn't do it!
We have agreed that next year he will take full control of all food on christmas day, right through from shopping to serving. That'll teach him for having a pop over no bloody sprouts Wink

Think me and the boys are going to venture into town today. We have been couped up all week due to this crappy weather and I need to get back into the habit of going out! They have a birthday party to go to on tuesday so will go and buy the lo a present.
