New halloween inspired thread (in honour of this time of year) to talk about our little jekyll & hydes [hgrin]

Is anyone going to be taking their little ones trick or treating this year? We'll be at MIL's for Halloween and she's already told me she has both Danny and DS1 costumes -so it appears that decision has been made for us Grin

SM thank you Grin am a little hurt that most of my friends have forgottn, particularly as one posted on facebook a few hours ago a happy birthday message to another friend. I know I'm be childish but....

I feel relieved that I've made the final decision now. Enough is enough. I have not forgotten/forgiven him for his behaviour last new year and there are so many other things. I've basically been staying for the kids but have now realised I'm entitled to be happy too.
Also, I have his credit card so am going to buy myself something nice at the jewellers on the compound later Wink

What is all the bloody fuss about sprouts anyway, no one bloody likes them!
I did sprouts yesterday and hardly any got eaten (and it took me ages to track them down out here and had to get frozen) but I LOVE bubble and squeak to will have that later.

Does anyone else's fab feb baby still have a dummy??????
Luke is really really dependant on his and I'd like to try to wean him off. Any tips?
At this age, Jacob was only have his to sleep. Luke has it in his mouth 24/7

dinkystinky · 26/12/2010 14:55

Happy birthday Mos - glad you got pampered (eventually) by your DS1 but so sorry FW is being, well, a FW. Am hoping 2011 is your year and all your plans work out for you and the kids.

Littlesez - sorry you're feeling ill. Hop you and Izzy both feel better soon and DH is spoiling you rotten in the meantime.

SM - sorry, cant help on the dummy front but I guess its like giving up bottles. Once you start with the removal strategy, you have to stick to it come hell or high water and ride out the storm...

Hope everyone had a good xmas. Danny has been extremely high maintenance this christmas - lots of tantrums for no reason and limpet boy with me (the hollers of Mummy mummy! echo through the house all the time he's awake - its bloody exhausting). He's also not sleeping properly and not eating (has taken to demanding open glasses of water that he pours over himself at meal times to get out of the meal time Hmm) - Thank god he's cute or I'd definitely be putting him on bloody ebay...

Good morning.
dinky hope Danny is in a better mood now. Luke was becoming very overwhelmed throughout the day on saturday too.

We went into town yesterday. I had them both walking as Luke doen't like being in the pushchair and refuses to keep a blanket on. Anyway, was going really well until we went into the card shop.
I wanted to get a pack of thank you cards to send the relatives and as I was looking at the selection, I heard an almighty crash. I turn around and Luke is standing in the middle of a shattered money box. A massive football shaped one that must have been over £30.
A staff member came running over and started clearing it away, cue us making a very quick exit! Blush
Thankfully they didn't ask me to pay for it, not that I would have.

What's everyone doing today?

SummerRain · 27/12/2010 12:14

Hello all, MOS - Belated happy birthday to you... sorry it's coincided with such a horrible decision to make. I think you're doing the right thing though and it will all be for the best in the end.

SM, A still has a dummy. Both my older two gave theirs to Santa when they were 3 so I'll do the same with A. He is gradually using it less during the day, as long as it's kept out of his site he forgets about it most of the time.

A was a little angel all day Saturday, he loved opening presents and all three of them loved everything they got. I was a bit of a misery for the first part of the morning as i had the worst cramps I've had since my periods came back in July but once the painkillers kicked in I enjoyed the chaos a lot more. We had to climb the hill to get to my parents as our car refused to do it and then we were waiting til gone 9 for dinner which meant it was 11pm when the kids went to bed so not much of a relaxing Christmas for us unfortunately. Then yesterday we had to slide back down the hill to the car and drive on half melted ice to get home but I'm looking forward to a few relaxing days now and getting my OU assignment done. The kids still have presents to open too!

Calico1 · 27/12/2010 14:52

MOS Happy birthday for yesterday! Sorry you have had to deal with such a difficult decision about FW, but at least you can be in control of the situation now and plan for a happier future for you and you DCs. Hope next year is a better one for you.

Littlesez sorry you are feeling poorly - get better soon.

We've all had flu for a week now. DS and I are both feeling a bit better today but DH and Lilian still quite ill. Poor Lilian hasn't eaten anything since last Wednesday - I've been trying to get her to drink loads of milk though so I'm not too worried but might take her to GP in the morning if I still can't get her to eat anything. DH and I spent Xmas day and Boxing day taking turns in having a lie down to try and recover....not much fun. Glad to be back home though as PIL idea of Christmas is a bit cheerless - no tree, no chocs, no crisps, no nuts Hmm...... at least we have enough treats here to keep us going.

SM - Lilian had a dummy obsession until she was about 14 months old. I decided to get rid of it as we hardly had a photo of her without it in her mouth! Just got rid of it one day and she howled for one night and but hasn't 'asked' for it since. Was dreading getting rid of it but it wasn't too bad.

Looks like snow is thawing so hope to get out of the house for a little walk in a minute.

littlesez · 28/12/2010 17:22

SM izzy has a dummy for bed and naps I am just mean and take it off her 1st thing adn thats that really sorry porobably not much help! i would like her to not have it for night but i am enjoying my sleep too much {grin} I just sa "dummy is gone now until sleep time" think she understands now and doesnt bother her

dinkystinky · 29/12/2010 20:28

Me too SM! Got back to London today from MILs and have been doing laundry ever since - just like after a big holiday. DS1 and Danny loved their christmas break in Brighton - we stopped off for dim sum on the way back home from Brighton today and were amazed that both Danny and DS1 are apparently big fans of jasmine tea! Danny went crazy for dipping stuff in chilli sauce though (huge tantrums when we tried to dissuade him) - have had 2 nasty nappies today and am sure there are more to come. Oh well at least I'm at work tomorrow so its for our nanny to deal with the aftermath Grin

What were the big xmas present hits with our little ones? Danny's favourite presents were a plastic santa cup from his stocking (he INSISTED on drinking from it all holiday - v odd), a ball with flashing lights in it and twin baby dolls from his grandma - he opened the present and squealed BABIES!!!! and wouldnt put them down the rest of the day...

SilveryMoon · 29/12/2010 20:33

dinky Bless danny, that is so cute Re "babies" Grin
Glad you had a nice break.
Jacob has not yet put Buzz Lightyear down, although he did drop it in my bath yesterday so now one of the buttons doesn't work!
They got loads of really good stuff, so hard to say what the favourites are.
Luke was given a Happyland space rocket from ELC by his uncle, he loves that.

back at work already dink? Dreading it or can't wait? I'm back next Tuesday and not sure how I feel about it

dinkystinky · 30/12/2010 16:48

Yup, back at work today - but is pretty quiet so not too bad. Am getting to do all the admin I dont normally have time to do and tidying up my office - is quite nice actually being in an almost silent city. Went to the gym at lunchtime and there were only 5 people in there.

Danny is going through MASSIVE separation anxiety - with mummy only - at the moment again. He had to be pried off me by his nanny this morning - as soon as I said bye (I always say bye to the boys and let them know I'm going and when I'll be home to try to reassure them) he said no, scrambled down the stairs and blocked the front door of the flat to stop me getting out. I'm fairly sure he's going to start barricading me in soon...

Anyone else's nearly 2year old going through this?

SilveryMoon · 30/12/2010 19:29

Hi dinky Luke was jut getting there in regards to me leavinghim in the morning. We had 2 mornings of him not crying, but now we've had these few weeks at home, I imagine he will be a bit upset again next week when it all gets back to normal.
We have seen the lady who looks after them a few times in the holidays and he has been eyeing her up and keeping his distance (we think incase we leg it rather than him not like her)

Luke has always been a very clingy boy to his mum, complete opposite from how ds1 was, although he is back to being a mummies boy too.
I'm sure Danny will settle down in a few days when the normal routines are in full swing again.

dinkystinky · 31/12/2010 10:59

Just popping back in to wish the Fab Febbers, and their fab little people and loved ones, a very happy new year.

Very Happy New Year to you too dinky
and everyone else Grin
What's everyone got planned?
I'm having a glass of wine and going to bed by 9pm, failing that I'll be asleep on the sofa by 9pm!

dinkystinky · 31/12/2010 12:19

Going out for lunch with DH later, then DH is going to cook a curry and we're going to watch 12 Angry Men on DVD before bedtime. Wild I know Grin

Happy New Year all!

We had some fireworks in the garden yesterday evening and I cooked a roast duck. The boys and I were in bed early (which was good as Mr T was awake for over an hour at 4-ish with a temperature) and DH stayed up with his mum playing bowling on the Playstation! Can't wait until the boys are a bit bigger and we can all stay up and celebrate together. We're off out for a celebratory pizza in a minute.

Hope you're all having a good day!

Calico1 · 01/01/2011 13:47

Happy 2011!!

Actually went out to a party last night (took DCs with us) - back home at 2am, DS awake at 4.30am so feeling a bit blurry today even though I wasn't drinking.....

Hope everyone enjoys the day x

dinkystinky · 01/01/2011 17:46

Happy new year all - hope you all had a lovely first day of 2011. Danny has celebrated the new year by having the runs Hmm. We've celebrated the new year with a soggy squelchy walk around Hampstead Heath in the drizzle - last night DH cooked a lovely curry and we watched black and white dvds - I'm with you THOM, cant wait till the boys are big enough to stay up to celebrate with us. I salute you Calico at taking the kids out last night- hope you got some sleep during the day today

Hi.
Thom lovely to see you on the thread. Hope you had a nice lunch today.
calico Hope you've managed to have an easy, relaxing day after your long night.

When we were kids, my Nan ussed to have big NYE parties at her house, for the family and neighbours.
She had 10 children so I have loads of cousins. We all used to sit up in her bedroom and have our own little party whilst the adults got drunk downstairs.
Was so much fun.
One day, we will have a bigger place and will be able to have lots of people over for little gathering.

dinkystinky · 01/01/2011 18:25

Breaking news from the dinky household - my little sister is engaged! My mum and dad are over the moon. She's been with her boyfriend (who is really lovely) for about 4 years now and travelling south america with him for the past 6 months - such a lovely start to the new year Grin Wish I wasnt on a january detox so I could raise a glass of champagne or twenty to the engaged couple.

TheHouseofMirth · 01/01/2011 18:28

Hi SM! Similar here though not family. My parents wer part of a group of about 9 couples who were all friends and all had children around the same age. We always spent NYE together. It was great fun (and I can still remember most of the words to many many Barry Manilow songs...)

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2011 20:03

dinky That's lovely, congratulations to your sister Smile

lol Thom We knew the party was coming to an end when Uncle Ted started belting out "Danny Boy"

SummerRain · 02/01/2011 12:27

Congrats to your sister dinky... lovely new years news Grin

A and Danny really are little doppalgangers.... dd got one of those dolls tht look like a newborn and A has kidnapped it! I'm going to have to buy him a doll of his own for his birthday as dd is most put out that her favourite christmas present has been hijacked! He's very cute though and feeds it, changes it and tucks it up on the couch with him Grin
